Requires today's distance to be 7 furlongs or less, the last race distance to be 1 mile or more, average sprint speed figures to exceed average route speed figures by at least 5 points, and both figure sets to be populated. This angle identifies horses that have been misrouted by connections or that matured their best abilities at sprint distances. The distance switch combined with a demonstrated sprint figure edge creates both a tactical advantage (the horse is better suited) and a value opportunity (the market prices it on recent route form).
