Lone Star Park — May 3, 2026 Condensed Handicapper Report

Fast main track and firm turf expected under partly cloudy skies, 82°F. Speed bias on dirt favors inside posts in sprints; stalking trips from inside posts are advantageous in turf routes. Largest exotic opportunity is the 13-horse turf finale.

Race 1 — 1430f | Dirt | Maiden Special Weight

Closing Speaker (1) gets the favored rail draw and figures to control the pace. Somerville (5) is the equal co-favorite with tactical flexibility from a clean middle post. Cuvee's Bellarose (6) is the closer to watch if the pace heats up early.

Race 2 — 1210f | Dirt | Maiden Special Weight

Yo Mo (2) is the clear public choice from a prime post in a six-furlong speed test. Get Back Jo Jo (6) and Another Crossbow (3) give the Cappellucci barn a two-horse tactical advantage, with Another Crossbow (3) holding the better post. Texas Hunk (7) at 4-1 is the top exotic alternative from a respected barn.

Race 3 — 1870f | Turf | Starter Optional Claiming

She'sskysthelimit (8) is the morning line favorite and carries the best recent form. Ninth Island (4) and Fine Finish (3) give the Calhoun barn two tactically dangerous weapons from favorable inside draws. Moonlight Gambler (1) at 8-1 holds the rail and should not be dismissed.

Race 4 — 1320f | Dirt | Allowance

Claire's Curlin (7) is the top selection, with Pish's allowance record supporting a stalk-and-pounce trip. Texas Speed Queen (4) is the co-favorite and likely pace controller from an ideal post. Cowgirl Dream (2) at 5-1 offers the best price-to-ability ratio in the top half of the field.

Race 5 — 1760f | Dirt | Maiden Special Weight

Raaq Tansani (7) at 5-1 is the best value play on the card — an Asmussen-trained closer with a capable rider in a race where both co-favorites at 2-1 split public opinion. Curlin's Union (2) and Special Agenda (4) are the public co-favorites with legitimate claims. None But The Brave (6) at 8-1 from the Calhoun barn is significantly underpriced for a route maiden.

Race 6 — 1760f | Turf | Optional Claiming

Mr Jaws (1) holds the premium rail draw on turf and is a deserving co-favorite. Cinco Richie (2) at 2-1 from post 2 is nearly as well positioned and must be respected equally. Guitar Boy (5) at 4-1 is the best-priced alternative, and Painted Lad (7) at 5-1 offers mild overlay value with a capable turf rider.

Race 7 — 1430f | Dirt | Claiming $10,000

Colormecairo (1) at 5-1 is the value play of the race — an Asmussen runner from the rail in a claiming sprint at a generous price. Nang Singha (2) is the co-favorite with a strong inside draw and a top rider. Calebs Lady (3) at 4-1 adds a third consecutive rail-side contender worth including in all exotics.

Race 8 — 1760f | Dirt | Optional Claiming $35,000

Heavenville (6) at 1-1 is a near-banker and should be used as a key rather than a straight win play. Dimatic (2) at 3-1 is the primary threat from the Asmussen barn with a stalking position from post 2. Gigante (3) at 5-1 gives the Asmussen barn a second tactical option and is the best trifecta value underneath the even-money favorite.

Race 9 — 1100f | Turf | Claiming $25,000 — 13 Horses

Divine Wind (1) holds the most valuable post in a 13-horse turf sprint and is a deserving favorite. Itty Bitty Baby (3) at 6-1 from post 3 is the card's best structured value — a prime draw in a large field at more than three times the favorite's odds. Penny Powers (2) at 8-1 and Cute Little Devil (8) at 5-1 round out the key exotic plays, with Lumina (4) at 8-1 worth adding to trifecta and superfecta tickets.
