Pick Pony Track Condition Report — Fair Hill Race Track, May 25, 2026
Track Surface & Bias
Fair Hill's turf racing on a late-May holiday card is most often shaped by spring moisture and the quality of the ground after recent rain. When the course comes up soft or slightly yielding, the bias usually shifts toward tactical runners who can sit just off the pace and make one run; true deep closers can be at a disadvantage if the surface dulls late. If the turf is firm and carrying speed, inside-to-mid posts and forwardly placed horses tend to hold a slight edge, especially in shorter races where position into the first turn matters most.
Handicapper’s Edge
Play the surface first and the form second. On a Fair Hill turf card, pace and ground-saving trips often matter more than raw class, so horses with demonstrated turf adaptability and stalking speed deserve extra consideration. If the course plays soft, upgrade runners proven on yielding ground and be cautious with pure speed types that may need an easy lead.
