Pick Pony Track Condition Report — Churchill Downs, June 13, 2026
Track Surface & Bias
Churchill Downs on a Dirt card typically rewards horses with enough early speed to secure position before the far turn, especially when the surface is fast and sealed. The inside-to-middle posts are usually most efficient on dirt, while stalkers often get the best trip if the pace is honest; deep closers generally need a setup or a strong pace collapse to be effective.
On the Turf course, Churchill tends to favor horses with tactical speed and the ability to establish or maintain position before the final bend, rather than extreme late runners. When the turf is firm and the rail is in play, forwardly placed runners and stalkers from more favorable draws are often the most dependable profile, with wide closers needing both pace and a clean trip.
