Race Day Overview — Belmont Park, Thursday September 24, 2026

The reimagined Belmont Park is in full swing this fall, and Thursday's 15-race card — eight races spread across the afternoon — offers a compelling mix of turf maiden specials, open claiming events, allowance conditions, and a rich stakes-quality allowance closer on the main track. The rebuilt facility has been drawing strong reviews since reopening, and the fall meet is generating exactly the kind of momentum the New York Racing Association hoped for heading into the critical Keeneland October stretch and ultimately the Breeders' Cup at Keeneland on October 31 and November 1.

David Aragona of the Daily Racing Form has flagged Race 2 as his best bet of the day, which aligns with the dominant morning-line favorite structure in that short turf maiden event. The national jockey standings are lighting up with Jose Ortiz and Flavien Prat in a fierce battle for supremacy, both eclipsing $34 million in North American purse earnings this season. Prat is all over this card — seven mounts in eight races — so his form and trainer connections warrant extra scrutiny throughout the afternoon.

Love Cervere's 93 Beyer in the Floral Park Stakes on the Belmont turf last week is a useful benchmark for the turf course this meet. The turf is clearly playing fast and rating figures. The fall footing has generally been firm-to-good in recent days, which historically favors horses with early tactical speed on both the inner and outer turf strips.

No significant scratches have been announced as of morning lines. Manuel Franco draws double duty in Race 1 (CARPET CITY, Post 2) and Race 7 (RHYTON, Post 14) and also picks up the mount on Blazing Tiger (Post 1) and Mykonos (Post 5) on the day. Watch for any last-minute jockey changes given the depth of quality pilots on this card.

Weather and Track Conditions

Forecast for Elmont, New York on September 24, 2026, calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low-to-mid 70s at post time for Race 1 and gradually cooling into the upper 60s by the final race. Winds out of the northwest at 8-12 mph are not expected to significantly affect racing. No precipitation is anticipated throughout the afternoon.

The main track (dirt) is expected to be listed as fast, consistent with recent dry weather across the New York metropolitan area. The outer turf course is firm and has been playing extremely well this meet. The inner turf (used for the 1,320-furlong and 1,430-furlong events on today's card) is also listed in good-to-firm condition, which favors horses with tactical speed and the ability to rate.

The rebuilt Belmont Park drainage system has been noted as a significant upgrade, meaning any unexpected light shower would not substantially alter the main track or turf course ratings for today's races. Conditions should remain favorable for front-end speed horses on the dirt and tactical runners on both turf strips throughout the card.

Track and Post Position Bias — Belmont Park (Fall 2026)

The rebuilt Belmont oval retains its classic wide-sweeping layout, but the new construction has produced a main track that is showing a modest speed-favoring tendency in the early weeks of the fall meet. Sprint races on the dirt are showing a clear advantage for horses with early speed in the 1-4 posts. Routes on the main track have been slightly more even, though horses that secure the first or second flight on the rail at the clubhouse turn have been converting at above-expectation rates.

On the outer turf (11 furlongs around), inside posts have a slight disadvantage in full-field maidens due to traffic concerns, but the rail has been the place to be once a horse clears to good position by the far turn. For today's two outer turf events (Races 1 and 4), horses in posts 4-9 have shown the best conversion rates in recent meet data when the fields are 10 or more starters.

On the inner turf, used for Race 2 (1,430 furlongs) and Race 7 (1,540 furlongs), the inside post has historically been a disadvantage in full gates because of early scrambling. Posts 3-6 have been the sweet spot in the inner turf sprints this meet. Blazing Tiger (POST 1) in Race 2 will need to either clear early or secure a ground-saving trip to overcome a slight post disadvantage.

The turf courses at the new Belmont have been playing to near-expected figures based on recent Beyer Speed Figures and sectional times, with no significant bias toward closers or front-runners on turf routes. The 1,760-furlong outer turf events (Races 1 and 4) should see a legitimate pace develop given field sizes of 13 and 14 runners respectively.

RACE 1 — Post (1:10 PM ET) — 1760f | T | S | Md Sp Wt | AOF | Purse $100,000

This is a wide-open 13-horse maiden special weight event for older fillies on the outer turf at 1,760 furlongs (approximately 1 1/16 miles). The $100,000 purse draws quality stock from several of the top barns on the grounds. With Prat, Lezcano, Santana, and Carmouche all in the gate, the jockey colony is taking this opener seriously. The large field and turf routing conditions make pedigree and workout analysis particularly important in sorting out first-time starters.

Pace Analysis

With 13 fillies going 1,760 furlongs on turf, the pace scenario is expected to be moderate to honest. There is no obvious lone front-runner in this field, which should produce a genuine pace and set the stage for closers with quality late kicks. Baby Dancer (POST 5) and Carpet City (POST 2) both project to show early speed. Lauren's Time (POST 6) and Decimal Point (POST 10) are bred for turf routing and may rate just off the early pace. Welcome Road (POST 9) and J'ray's Jewel (POST 7) figure to come from mid-pack. The honest pace in a large field favors closers with strong turf pedigrees.

Key Contenders

J'ray's Jewel (POST 7) comes from the barn of Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott and gets Jose Lezcano up. Mott's turf maidens in the fall at Belmont are a strong play, particularly with fillies who have been working steadily over the new surface. The post 7 position is ideally suited for a relaxed turf route — she can settle mid-pack without being squeezed on the rail and have room to build her run through the turn. Lezcano has been in sharp form and excels at rating horses in big turf fields. At 4-1 morning line, she represents solid value in a 13-horse field.

Decimal Point (POST 10) draws Ricardo Santana Jr. for trainer Lisa Bartkowski, who is showing sound form this meet. The 5-1 morning line underlines the respect she commands from the line-makers. Post 10 in a 13-horse outer turf field gives her a tactical advantage — she can work outside horses early and find a clear path by the backstretch. Santana has been one of the circuit's most consistent pilots when given turf routing assignments. Her pedigree and workout pattern suggest she will relish the longer turf trip.

Secondary Choices

Lauren's Time (POST 6) brings the Chad Brown barn connection, which is as powerful a turf training angle as exists in North American racing. Brown's unraced or lightly raced turf maidens are among the most reliable plays in the game, and a 5-1 morning line for a first-time starter in a maiden special weight suggests Brown's people have strong expectations. Flavien Prat is the mount, adding another layer of confidence. The outer post near the hedge for a Brown turf filly with Prat is a play that has won repeatedly on this circuit.

Welcome Road (POST 9) from the Miguel Clement barn with Antonio Fresu up is a respected secondary contender at 8-1. Clement's turf maidens have shown consistent improvement patterns, and WELCOME ROAD's position outside the midfield should allow for clean early positioning. At 8-1, she offers legitimate price value if the speed horses set it up correctly.

Carpet City (POST 2) is trained by Kenneth McPeek and is being partnered with Manuel Franco. McPeek ships winners to Belmont regularly, and this filly is likely to show early tactical speed from post 2. If she gets a clean break and Franco can settle her just behind the pace, she could be dangerous in the stretch run. At 4-1, she's fairly priced given the barn and jockey pairing.

Longshots

Tappin Magic (POST 3) at 10-1 for Edward Barker and Ruben Silvera is a player worth noting if she shows any turf aptitude; Silvera has been gradually picking up quality mounts this meet. The Paper Lady (POST 8) at 12-1 with Edgard Zayas for James Ferraro is a deep longshot whose price could attract some attention but whose trainer profile limits confidence. Nater Tot (POST 13) at 12-1 is a Rob Atras trainee drawing Franco — note that Franco is double-booked here and on POST 2, suggesting a potential jockey change; verify scratch/change reports before wagering. Secret Connection (POST 1) at 15-1 for Jeremiah Englehart is deep inside in a 13-horse field, which makes her task more difficult despite a trainer who occasionally springs surprises. Coursiere (POST 11) at 20-1 for David Donk and Luis Raul Rivera Jr. is a price horse with little to recommend at the current odds. Ciao Baby (POST 4) at 20-1 for James Ryerson is overmatched on class. G I Jen (POST 12) at 20-1 for Carlos Martin with Carmouche represents a barn that sometimes drops live ones into big-field maidens, but 20-1 suggests lukewarm expectations. Baby Dancer (POST 5) at 30-1 for Melanie Giddings is a long price and represents the bottom of the class picture here.

Betting Strategy

This is a spread-out field ideal for exacta and trifecta play rather than a single win bet. The most defensible play is constructing a trifecta using J'ray's Jewel (POST 7) and Lauren's Time (POST 6) on top with Decimal Point (POST 10), Welcome Road (POST 9), and Carpet City (POST 2) underneath. A small win bet on J'ray's Jewel (POST 7) at 4-1 with a saver on Lauren's Time (POST 6) provides reasonable coverage. Avoid chasing the 30-1 and 50-1 prices in a wide-open maiden that does not feature a compelling standout.

Selections

Win: J'ray's Jewel (POST 7) Place: Lauren's Time (POST 6) Show: Decimal Point (POST 10)

RACE 2 — Post (1:45 PM ET) — 1430f | t | S | Md Sp Wt | BUN | Purse $100,000

This is the race flagged as the best bet of the day by DRF's David Aragona. A nine-horse maiden special weight for older males on the inner turf at 1,430 furlongs (approximately 7 1/2 furlongs). The inner turf at the rebuilt Belmont has been producing solid figures, and a nine-horse field for $100,000 in a maiden event draws legitimate stock. The race features two co-favorites on the morning line at 2-1 — Blazing Tiger (POST 1) from the Clement barn with Franco up, and Bayfront (POST 9) also from Clement with Prat. That Clement uses two horses here suggests the barn has genuine confidence in both entrants.

Pace Analysis

This should be a contested pace scenario. Blazing Tiger (POST 1) from the rail will likely be sent forward by Franco, who is aggressive out of tight inside posts. Battle (POST 3) and Bourbon Hangover (POST 6) could also show early, though neither generates strong early pace expectations at their respective morning line prices. Complex Charlie (POST 7) at 8-1 and Weseeulator (POST 8) at 5-1 project to be mid-pack stalkers. Bayfront (POST 9) from the far outside with Prat is expected to be saved off the pace and mount a sustained closing run. The pace scenario may be honest enough to set things up for BAYFRONT's closing style.

Key Contenders

Bayfront (POST 9) is the one handicappers are circling as the top choice in this race despite sharing the 2-1 morning line. Prat from the outside post on the inner turf at 1,430 furlongs is an ideal setup — he can drop in behind horses early, conserve energy through the two turns, and unleash a sustained bid when it matters. The Clement-Prat combination at Belmont on turf has been a consistently profitable pairing. BAYFRONT coming off what figures to be strong recent works and the Clement barn's confidence in entering two here suggests both are fit and ready. The outer post at 1,430 furlongs on the inner turf means BAYFRONT may need to wide early to find his stride, but Prat handles that scenario as well as any rider in the country.

Blazing Tiger (POST 1) is co-favored at 2-1 for the same Clement barn with Franco. Two 2-1 shots from the same trainer creates an interesting wagering dynamic — both are genuine contenders, but only one can win. Franco from the rail will need an uncontested trip to make post 1 work on the inner turf. If he gets clear and is allowed to set a moderate pace, BLAZING TIGER is capable of holding on at 1,430 furlongs. The risk is getting caught wide at the break from the one-hole or getting crowded early.

Secondary Choices

Jubilee Parade (POST 4) at 4-1 for Bill Mott with Lezcano is the most logical secondary option. Mott's turf maidens routinely outperform their morning lines, and Lezcano from a middle post at 1,430 furlongs is a textbook stalking setup. JUBILEE PARADE is likely to be forwardly placed in mid-pack and will be a live threat if the pace scenario sets up correctly. At 4-1 he offers better value than the Clement pair if he fires a big first career effort.

Weseeulator (POST 8) at 5-1 for Bruce Brown with JJ Castellano is a horse to take seriously. Castellano is a future Hall of Famer who gets the job done on turf, and post 8 of 9 on the inner turf at this distance allows him to settle and make one clean run. If WESEEULATOR has turf breeding that matches up well here, he represents legitimate value.

Longshots

Bamboozie (POST 5) at 10-1 for Jeremiah Englehart with Santana is a medium-range longshot worth including in exacta and trifecta tickets. Englehart knows the Belmont turf well and occasionally drops in lightly raced maiden types at prices. Complex Charlie (POST 7) at 8-1 for Carlos Martin with Fresu is at a price that tempts some action, but Martin's win percentage in maiden specials limits enthusiasm. Asked And Answered (POST 2) at 20-1 for Antonio Arriaga with Dalila Rivera is a deep longshot with almost no path to winning in this company. Battle (POST 3) at 20-1 for Danny Gargan with Carmouche — Gargan sometimes sneaks one in, but 20-1 in a competitive nine-horse maiden is a pass. Bourbon Hangover (POST 6) at 50-1 for Rachael Keithan with Luis Raul Rivera Jr. is a horse to use only in large exotics for coverage.

Betting Strategy

The Clement double-entry creates the best wagering opportunity of the day. Both Bayfront (POST 9) and Blazing Tiger (POST 1) must be on every ticket. The recommended approach is a win parlay on both entries — bet Bayfront (POST 9) to win as the primary, with Blazing Tiger (POST 1) as a backup. In exactas, box Blazing Tiger (POST 1) and Bayfront (POST 9) with Jubilee Parade (POST 4) and Weseeulator (POST 8) in a four-horse part-wheel. Trifecta: use Blazing Tiger (POST 1) and Bayfront (POST 9) on top, with Jubilee Parade (POST 4), Weseeulator (POST 8), and Bamboozie (POST 5) underneath.

Selections

Win: Bayfront (POST 9) Place: Blazing Tiger (POST 1) Show: Jubilee Parade (POST 4)

RACE 3 — Post (2:20 PM ET) — 1760f | D | AO | OClm 80000n2x | BUN | Purse $108,000

A one-mile-plus optional claiming event at $80,000 for older males on the main track — this is a quality dirt route. The $108,000 purse and the n2x (non-winners of two lifetime) conditions bring together a competitive group of horses that have won at least once but are still developing. Hill Road (POST 9) opens as the morning-line favorite at 2-1, which demands close attention given the 1760-furlong dirt trip.

Pace Analysis

Hill Road (POST 9) from the outside post with Franco projects as the presumptive pace-setter in a field that otherwise lacks obvious speed. Eliminate (POST 6) from the Linda Rice barn with Carmouche and Dilger (POST 7) from Saffie Joseph Jr. with Prat could also show early forwardness. White Smoke Rising (POST 1) under Santana from the rail may also be sent on the pace. If HILL ROAD is on the engine from post 9 in a mile-plus dirt route, he will be doing substantial work. That setup could benefit closers like Dilger (POST 7) and Racing Driver (POST 3), who both figure to be saving ground early.

Key Contenders

Dilger (POST 7) from the Saffie Joseph Jr. barn with Flavien Prat is the most intriguing angle in this field. Saffie Joseph Jr. has been one of the hottest trainers in the mid-Atlantic/New York corridor for several seasons, and the addition of Prat on a mid-post dirt route at Belmont is a significant signal. Post 7 at 1760 furlongs gives Prat room to work with — he can settle DILGER off the pace and make one big move through the far turn. At 3-1 morning line, the value is reasonable given the trainer-jockey combination.

Hill Road (POST 9) at 2-1 with Manuel Franco is the public choice, and there is merit to the selection. Franco has been riding with confidence, and HILL ROAD's class and figures suggest he is deserving of favorite status. The 2-1 price, however, is a short number for a horse that must do significant work from post 9 in a 1760-furlong optional claimer. Franco will need to get him into a comfortable rhythm early.

Secondary Choices

Eliminate (POST 6) at 4-1 for Linda Rice with Carmouche has strong claims. Rice is a fixture in the New York claiming ranks with a sharp eye for spotting horses at the right level. ELIMINATE's figure profile and recent form at this class level are respectable, and Carmouche gives him a reliable pilot. Post 6 of 9 is workable on the dirt at a mile.

Racing Driver (POST 3) at 8-1 for Gustavo Delgado with JJ Castellano is an intriguing underdog. Castellano in an optional claimer at Belmont at a route distance is a dangerous pairing, and Delgado has been active and productive this meet. The 8-1 morning line offers genuine value if RACING DRIVER has recent form that matches up favorably.

White Smoke Rising (POST 1) at 6-1 from post 1 for Charlton Baker under Santana is a rail draw that could set up well in this pace scenario if Baker's horse breaks sharp and establishes position easily. Baker runs a tight ship with his New York string, and Santana's rail experience at the Belmont oval is a plus.

Longshots

Emergence (POST 8) at 8-1 for Jamie Ness with Silvera is a horse that tends to get overlooked but occasionally flashes quality figures for a solid barn. Secured Landing (POST 5) at 12-1 for Linda Rice with Lezcano is the second Rice entry — having Eliminate (POST 6) and Secured Landing (POST 5) in the same race dilutes both. SECURED LANDING is the lesser of the pair at current odds. Kinetic (POST 2) at 15-1 for Ilkay Kantarmaci with Samuel Marin is a price player whose trainer ranks among the lower-win-percentage outfits in this field. Otello (POST 4) at 20-1 for the same barn is essentially a throwout at this price.

Betting Strategy

Focus the win investment on Dilger (POST 7) at 3-1 with a strong secondary interest in Eliminate (POST 6) at 4-1. The best exotic play is an exacta box between Dilger (POST 7), Eliminate (POST 6), and White Smoke Rising (POST 1), with Hill Road (POST 9) as a single on top in a trifecta using the above horses underneath. Avoid the two Kantarmaci runners in exotics unless building large, inexpensive trifecta wheels.

Selections

Win: Dilger (POST 7) Place: Eliminate (POST 6) Show: Hill Road (POST 9)

RACE 4 — Post (2:55 PM ET) — 1870f | T | C | Clm 35000n2l | BUM | Purse $48,000

A 14-horse turf route claiming event at $35,000 for mares — 1870 furlongs (about 1 3/16 miles) on the outer turf. The large field, claiming conditions, and distance create a complex handicapping puzzle. Putonahappyface (POST 2) is the morning line favorite at 2-1 for Richard Dutrow and Flavien Prat, which immediately commands attention. Private Property (POST 14) at 3-1 and Spinning Class (POST 9) at 4-1 round out the top choices.

Pace Analysis

With 14 mares going nearly a mile and a half on turf, the early pace figures to be restrained. Luckforyou (POST 3) and Intothewilderness (POST 1) may show some early zip, but the majority of the field will settle in behind. Putonahappyface (POST 2) under Prat will likely rate second or third and be asked to quicken into the far turn. The pace should be slow enough to make this a test of sustained speed from the 3/4 pole home — favoring horses with proven class and the ability to finish strongly at a distance.

Key Contenders

Putonahappyface (POST 2) at 2-1 for Richard Dutrow with Prat — Dutrow is one of the savviest claiming trainers in New York, and when he puts Prat on a claiming mare in a route, it carries serious weight. Post 2 on the outer turf at 1870 furlongs is a workable draw — Prat can settle just behind any early speed and control the pace without doing too much work. PUTONAHAPPYFACE's price suggests she has the class advantage in this field, and the Dutrow-Prat axis has delivered in spots like this repeatedly.

Private Property (POST 14) at 3-1 for Michelle Nevin with Carmouche draws the far outside in a 14-horse field. In a turf route at this distance, an outside draw is not necessarily a disadvantage — Carmouche can ease PRIVATE PROPERTY back and save ground once the field compacts. Nevin's claiming mares at Belmont this fall have been competitive, and PRIVATE PROPERTY at 3-1 is worth a serious look if her recent form aligns with the distance.

Secondary Choices

Spinning Class (POST 9) at 4-1 for Claude McGaughey III with Lezcano is a horse trained by one of the great handlers in New York racing history. McGaughey's turf runners at Belmont are always fit and honest. Post 9 of 14 on the outer turf at 1870 furlongs is a clean draw, and Lezcano excels at settling mares in big turf routes. At 4-1, SPINNING CLASS has legitimate claims as the value play in this field.

Twirly (POST 7) at 5-1 for Mertkan Kantarmaci with Santana is a midfield draw that allows for stalking tactics. Santana has been excellent in routes this meet, and TWIRLY's 5-1 morning line suggests some respect from the linemakers. Island Charm (POST 4) at 8-1 for Ilkay Kantarmaci with Franco is a secondary option, though using two Kantarmaci horses in exotics should be approached cautiously.

Longshots

Juliet On Approach (POST 10) at 12-1 for James Bentley Begg with Zayas is a horse that could outrun her odds in a large field if she gets a ground-saving trip. Hola Gata (POST 13) at 10-1 for Dimitrios Synnefias with Samuel Marin is a fringe contender at a fair price. Intothewilderness (POST 1) at 10-1 for Charlton Baker with Fresu from the rail could surprise if she establishes early position cleanly. Luckforyou (POST 3) at 15-1 for Jesus Romero with Katie Davis is a stretch candidate at the bottom of the claiming ladder. On A Summer Day (POST 6) at 15-1 for John Pregman Jr. with Christian Maragh is a pass. Leslie's Star (POST 5) at 20-1 for Wayne Potts is too thin on form. So Vain (POST 11) at 20-1 for Michelle Nevin with Castellano is an interesting value note — Nevin runs two here (SO VAIN and PRIVATE PROPERTY), and Castellano on the 20-1 shot when the 3-1 goes to Carmouche suggests PRIVATE PROPERTY is the stable's primary. Roseberns Dream (POST 8) at 30-1 and Widdershins (POST 12) at 50-1 are throwouts in any format.

Betting Strategy

Key Putonahappyface (POST 2) on top in exactas with Spinning Class (POST 9), Private Property (POST 14), and Twirly (POST 7) in a top-four box. For trifectas, use Putonahappyface (POST 2) single on top, Spinning Class (POST 9) and Private Property (POST 14) in the middle, and a spread underneath using Twirly (POST 7), Island Charm (POST 4), and Juliet On Approach (POST 10).

Selections

Win: Putonahappyface (POST 2) Place: Private Property (POST 14) Show: Spinning Class (POST 9)

RACE 5 — Post (3:30 PM ET) — 1760f | D | A | Alw 105000n1x | BUM | Purse $105,000

An allowance route for older males at one mile and one-sixteenth on the main track — this is the strongest dirt event of the day. The $105,000 purse and n1x conditions draw horses that have won once and are stretching their class. Unlock The Value (POST 10) for Chad Brown with Franco is the 2-1 favorite. Liberty's Secret (POST 4) at 3-1 and Fedupwiththefed (POST 1) at 6-1 are the main alternatives.

Pace Analysis

Unlock The Value (POST 10) from the far outside post at 1760 furlongs on the main track for Chad Brown is an interesting setup. Brown's allowance horses are routinely fit and sharp, and Franco is capable of getting an outside horse into position quickly. Fedupwiththefed (POST 1) under Prat from the rail is another logical early mover. Baseball Lady (POST 2) for Linda Rice with Carmouche could also show early pace. The early fractions should be honest given the class level, setting up for a sustained stretch battle.

Key Contenders

Unlock The Value (POST 10) at 2-1 for Chad Brown with Franco is the clear public choice. Brown's allowance horses win at elite rates, and Franco has been outstanding all meet. The 2-1 price for a Brown first-level allowance horse is not particularly generous in absolute terms, but the quality of horse demands respect. If UNLOCK THE VALUE has the class edge — and Brown's horses typically do at the n1x level — he should be on every ticket.

Liberty's Secret (POST 4) at 3-1 for Patrick Quick with Dylan Davis is the most compelling alternative. Quick has been developing into a sharp trainer with a good eye for allowance horses, and Davis is in career-best form. Post 4 at 1760 furlongs on the main track puts LIBERTY'S SECRET right in the ideal stalking position. At 3-1, he represents solid value against the Brown favorite.

Secondary Choices

Fedupwiththefed (POST 1) at 6-1 for David Donk with Prat from the inside post is a horse whose odds demand some respect given the pilot. Prat on a longshot in an allowance at Belmont is a flag — he does not ride these spots without some expectation. Donk has been running horses consistently this fall, and if FEDUPWITHTHEFED has recent figures that support the allowance level, 6-1 is a viable price.

Full Pour (POST 7) at 10-1 for Mark Hennig with JJ Castellano — the Castellano factor in a route allowance is always worth noting. Hennig's horses are often well-prepared for their spots, and 10-1 gives FULL POUR a price that rewards a win ticket if Castellano produces one of his patented mid-field saves.

Lady Wisdom (POST 8) at 8-1 for Mertkan Kantarmaci with Santana is a price player in a tough allowance field. Santana has been riding with authority this meet, but the trainer class gap between Kantarmaci and Brown or Quick limits confidence.

Longshots

Baseball Lady (POST 2) at 8-1 for Linda Rice with Carmouche could be in contention through the stretch in a loose-pace scenario. Celestial Body (POST 3) at 12-1 for Lisa Bartkowski with Lezcano is a fair price with limited winning prospects. Perugia (POST 5) at 10-1 for Jamie Ness with Silvera is a longer price than the horse's form likely justifies, but Ness does not win often enough in allowance company to inspire confidence. Velocity Girl (POST 9) at 20-1 for Madison Meyers with Christopher Elliott is a throwout. Butter Kisses (POST 6) at 50-1 for Webster Gayle is essentially a field-filler.

Betting Strategy

Unlock The Value (POST 10) to win is the safe play in a difficult route allowance. The value comes in the exacta with Liberty's Secret (POST 4). Box Unlock The Value (POST 10) and Liberty's Secret (POST 4) in exactas, then add Fedupwiththefed (POST 1) and Full Pour (POST 7) in trifecta bottom slots. A win-place combination on Unlock The Value (POST 10) offers a reasonable return given the depth of the field.

Selections

Win: Unlock The Value (POST 10) Place: Liberty's Secret (POST 4) Show: Fedupwiththefed (POST 1)

RACE 6 — Post (4:05 PM ET) — 1760f | D | C | Clm 12500 | BUN | Purse $35,000

A 13-horse claiming sprint — or rather a route — at the $12,500 level on the main track for males. This is the lowest-class event on the card, but with 13 runners it offers exotic wagering opportunities. Polar Bear Plunge (POST 5) at 2-1 for Mertkan Kantarmaci with Santana and Pineapple Man (POST 1) at 3-1 for Michelle Nevin with Carmouche set up as the top two in this short-priced field.

Pace Analysis

Pineapple Man (POST 1) and Polar Bear Plunge (POST 5) are both expected to show early pace. From the rail, PINEAPPLE MAN with Carmouche should be sent forward immediately. POLAR BEAR PLUNGE from post 5 has the ideal position to either press or stalk the early pace. If these two hook up early, it opens the door for closers like Rungius (POST 2), Interlock Empire (POST 9), or Expensive Cut (POST 12). The pace scenario is the key to unlocking the exotics.

Key Contenders

Polar Bear Plunge (POST 5) at 2-1 with Santana is the shortest-priced horse on the card after Unlock The Value (POST 10) and the Clement pair in Race 2. At the $12,500 level, a horse installed at 2-1 with a quality rider and a functional post draw deserves respect. Mertkan Kantarmaci runs multiple horses on the card today — also Twirly (POST 7) in Race 4, Lady Wisdom (POST 8) in Race 5, and Nantz (POST 13) in this same race — suggesting the barn is active and placing horses in appropriate spots.

Pineapple Man (POST 1) at 3-1 with Carmouche is the likely pace-setter and represents one of the most dangerous early-speed combinations at this level. Carmouche in a front-running role on a claiming horse is almost always productive, and Michelle Nevin's claiming record in New York is respectable. If PINEAPPLE MAN gets clear and the pace is relaxed, he is fully capable of wiring this field.

Secondary Choices

Rungius (POST 2) at 4-1 for Linda Rice with Manuel Franco is the class horse in the field if his figures bear out. Rice claims horses at every level of the ladder, and a $12,500 claimer with Franco is a serious entry. From post 2 with a stalking style, RUNGIUS is the best price in the top tier and the most logical alternative to the top two.

Expensive Cut (POST 12) at 8-1 for Rob Atras with Christopher Elliott draws outside but has the profile of a horse who could be set up by a contested pace and close ground. Atras is well-regarded in the claiming ranks, and 8-1 on a horse with a capable rider in a pace-honest race is playable.

Interlock Empire (POST 9) at 8-1 for Emron Ibrahim with Dylan Davis is a mid-range longshot worth including in exotics if the pace sets up for closers.

Longshots

He's Got This (POST 3) at 15-1 for Chris Englehart with Lezcano is a horse whose pedigree name alone earns a small mention. Lezcano on a 15-1 shot in a $12,500 claimer is not a typical spot for him — look for any recent workout or equipment change. Screaming Uncle (POST 6) at 15-1 for Gregory Charlerie with Reylu Gutierrez is a deep price in a tough field. Smilensaycheese (POST 7) at 12-1 for Edward DeLauro with Fresu is a fringe player. Otto Nipoti (POST 11) at 20-1 and Nantz (POST 13) at 12-1 are secondary Kantarmaci runners whose presence primarily helps in pace scenarios rather than as win contenders. High Tide (POST 4), Indianquest (POST 8), and Laughing Boy (POST 10) are all 30-1 or greater and should be used only in large trifecta wheels for minimal cost.

Betting Strategy

This is a pace-dependent race that rewards exotic wagering over win betting. Key Polar Bear Plunge (POST 5) and Pineapple Man (POST 1) in exacta boxes with Rungius (POST 2) and Expensive Cut (POST 12). Trifecta: use the top four in combination, with Interlock Empire (POST 9) as the price kicker in the third position. A small win bet on Rungius (POST 2) at 4-1 offers value if he stalks successfully.

Selections

Win: Polar Bear Plunge (POST 5) Place: Pineapple Man (POST 1) Show: Rungius (POST 2)

RACE 7 — Post (4:40 PM ET) — 1540f | T | R | Alw 50000s | BUN | Purse $65,000

A 14-horse state-bred allowance on the inner turf at 1540 furlongs (approximately 7 furlongs on turf). State-bred allowances on the inner turf at Belmont are historically competitive events, and this 14-horse field is no exception. Coach Case (POST 1) and Salt Spartan (POST 3) share the 4-1 morning line at the top of a tightly clustered field.

Pace Analysis

With 14 runners in a state-bred allowance at 1540 furlongs on the inner turf, the early pace is likely to be intense. Salt Spartan (POST 3) under Dylan Davis for Richard Dutrow is a probable early mover. Naguile (POST 7) for Michael Maker with Santana is another horse who could be forwardly placed. Rhyton (POST 14) from the outside for Clement with Franco will need to work from the back. Coach Case (POST 1) from the rail under Prat will likely rate just off the pace. The pace scenario sets up for a hot early fraction that could benefit closers in the second half.

Key Contenders

Coach Case (POST 1) at 4-1 for Miguel Clement with Prat is the most intriguing setup in this race. Prat from the inside on a Clement turf horse in a state-bred allowance is an extremely reliable pattern. Post 1 on the inner turf at 1540 furlongs is genuinely concerning — the inside post in a 14-horse field can result in traffic issues if COACH CASE does not break cleanly. However, Prat is exceptional at saving ground and finding gaps, and Clement's horses are always fit and ready. At 4-1, the price is fair given the post disadvantage.

Naguile (POST 7) at 4-1 for Michael Maker with Ricardo Santana Jr. is one of the horses to beat in this field. Maker is a precision trainer who places horses expertly in state-bred conditions, and Santana from a mid-post in an inner turf sprint is a powerful combination. Post 7 of 14 is the ideal draw — clean positioning from the break, ability to find cover or press on the outside as needed.

Secondary Choices

Salt Spartan (POST 3) at 4-1 for Richard Dutrow with Dylan Davis is the morning line co-favorite. Dutrow runs competitive horses in state-bred conditions, and SALT SPARTAN from post 3 in a 14-horse inner turf field has a workable draw. Davis has been riding with improving confidence. If SALT SPARTAN gets to the front or sits just off the early pace, he will be a formidable opponent.

Rhyton (POST 14) at 6-1 for Miguel Clement with Franco is an interesting second Clement entry. The 14 post in a 1540-furlong inner turf race is a genuine negative — Franco will be forced to check or steady early. However, if the pace collapses in front of him and he gets an unobstructed run, the 6-1 price is enticing. Take A Stance (POST 12) at 12-1 for Michelle Nevin with Castellano is a horse Castellano clearly thought enough of to accept the mount in a state-bred allowance.

Oat Coutour (POST 4) at 5-1 for Chris Englehart with Lezcano is a horse from a solid barn with a quality pilot drawing a prime post. At 5-1, OAT COUTOUR has underrated claims in this race and warrants strong consideration.

Longshots

Gamebred (POST 8) at 10-1 for Charlton Baker with Fresu is a horse to monitor for any late moves in the wagering pools. Counter Move (POST 9) at 8-1 for George Weaver with Samuel Marin is from a respected barn that wins in state-bred spots. Free Refills (POST 6) at 15-1 for Linda Rice with Carmouche is a horse that Rice entered confidently — if FREE REFILLS fires at 15-1 in an allowance, it would be a classic Rice claiming barn find. Burning Bridges (POST 5) at 15-1 for Jamie Ness is a deep price on a horse from a trainer with a modest win rate in allowance company. Mozambique (POST 2) at 20-1 for Rudy Rodriguez with Elliott, Apollo Code (POST 10) at 15-1 for Raymond Handal with Franco — note Franco draws both Rhyton (POST 14) and Apollo Code (POST 10); verify for potential jockey change before the race. Alpha Cat (POST 11) at 50-1 for Gabriel Goodwin is a throwout. Twohonestmischief (POST 13) at 15-1 for Chris Englehart with Santana is the second Englehart entry — the barn's primary is clearly Oat Coutour (POST 4) given the superior jockey and post assignment.

Betting Strategy

Focus on the Coach Case (POST 1) — Naguile (POST 7) — Oat Coutour (POST 4) triangle in exactas and trifectas. Salt Spartan (POST 3) is live enough to include in all exotic tickets. A win bet on Oat Coutour (POST 4) at 5-1 offers value relative to the field. For trifectas, use Coach Case (POST 1) and Naguile (POST 7) on top, spread to Salt Spartan (POST 3), Oat Coutour (POST 4), and Rhyton (POST 14) underneath.

Selections

Win: Naguile (POST 7) Place: Coach Case (POST 1) Show: Oat Coutour (POST 4)

RACE 8 — Post (5:15 PM ET) — 1320f | t | M | Md 50000 | BUN | Purse $56,000

The finale is a 15-horse maiden claiming sprint at $50,000 on the inner turf at 1320 furlongs (six furlongs). A maximum-field inner turf sprint for maidens at the claiming level is among the most chaotic wagering propositions in racing, but the generous field size and accessible price levels make this the prime target for late exotic plays. My Munny Talks (POST 7) at 4-1 for Charlton Baker with Prat and Eye On The Ball (POST 11) at 4-1 for Chris Englehart with Lezcano share the morning line top billing.

Pace Analysis

A 15-horse inner turf sprint at 1320 furlongs will almost certainly produce a fast early pace with multiple horses seeking position from the break. Mykonos (POST 5) for Keri Brion with Franco, Classic Commander (POST 12) with Zayas, and Engraved (POST 13) with Santana for Linda Rice are all potentially early. The pace is projected to be quick enough that late-running types from mid-field draws should benefit, particularly if they can track the pace from the 3-5 post range.

Key Contenders

My Munny Talks (POST 7) at 4-1 for Charlton Baker with Prat is co-favorited alongside Eye On The Ball (POST 11). Baker has been quietly productive at the Belmont fall meet, and putting Prat on a 4-1 morning line shot in the finale is a sharp stable signal. Post 7 of 15 in an inner turf sprint is a near-ideal draw — Prat can track the pace comfortably from mid-field and strike when the speed horses begin to tire at the turn. Baker has proven he can develop maiden claimers on turf.

Eye On The Ball (POST 11) at 4-1 for Chris Englehart with Lezcano is the alternative. Post 11 in a 15-horse inner turf sprint is slightly wide, but Lezcano is skilled at angling in from outside posts. Englehart is having a sound meet, and EYE ON THE BALL at a co-favorite price deserves respect from a horse who may have shown ability in previous starts.

Secondary Choices

Engraved (POST 13) at 4-1 for Linda Rice with Ricardo Santana Jr. — note that Santana is listed on both Engraved (POST 13) and Thundertaker (POST 4) in this race; verify the jockey assignments before finalizing any bets. At 4-1 for Linda Rice on the inner turf at 1320 furlongs, ENGRAVED is a genuine contender regardless of who rides. Rice's $50,000 maiden claimers on turf tend to be well-spotted and competitively fit.

Mykonos (POST 5) at 5-1 for Keri Brion with Franco is a horse to respect. Brion has developed a steady New York-based string, and Franco is an automatic plus on any mount at the 5-1 range. Post 5 in this large field provides a clean early setup.

Classic Commander (POST 12) at 6-1 for Ilkay Kantarmaci with Zayas is a mid-range longshot at a competitive price. Zayas has been sharp in the latter half of meets, and if CLASSIC COMMANDER has the class edge for a $50,000 maiden claimer, 6-1 is a live price.

Longshots

Nickerson (POST 9) at 8-1 for Fernando Abreu with Luis Raul Rivera Jr. is a horse that can outrun his odds if the pace sets up for a mid-pack runner. War Profiteer (POST 2) at 10-1 for Edward Barker with Dylan Davis is a deeper choice at a manageable price. Pilot Knob (POST 6) at 12-1 for Bruce Brown with Elliott is from a barn that wins with maiden claimers on occasion and is worth including in trifecta exotics. Thundertaker (POST 4) at 12-1 for Rob Atras with Santana — confirm the Santana jockey assignment (potential conflict with ENGRAVED, POST 13). It's Banksy (POST 3) at 12-1 for Jena Antonucci is a horse from a trainer who occasionally produces inner turf maiden fireworks. Richies Love (POST 8) at 15-1 for Michael Miceli with Carmouche is a legitimate price play if Carmouche gets him into a good spot. Happy Go More (POST 14) at 15-1 for Jena Antonucci with Zayas — note Zayas is also listed on Classic Commander (POST 12); another potential jockey conflict to verify. Strobe Light (POST 1), Jimmy's Page (POST 10), and Crazy Busted (POST 15) are all 20-1 or greater and represent field-fillers in this claimer.

Betting Strategy

This race is best attacked with aggressive exotic wagering. Key My Munny Talks (POST 7) and Eye On The Ball (POST 11) in exacta boxes with Engraved (POST 13), Mykonos (POST 5), and Classic Commander (POST 12). Trifecta: use My Munny Talks (POST 7) and Eye On The Ball (POST 11) in the first two spots with a wide spread of five horses underneath. Superfectas are viable in a 15-horse field — a $1 superfecta key using My Munny Talks (POST 7) on top with the top five runners underneath returns substantial value.

Selections

Win: My Munny Talks (POST 7) Place: Eye On The Ball (POST 11) Show: Mykonos (POST 5)

Jockey Notes and Insights

Flavien Prat is the dominant presence on Thursday's card. He draws seven mounts across eight races: Lauren's Time (POST 6) in Race 1, Bayfront (POST 9) in Race 2, Dilger (POST 7) in Race 3, Putonahappyface (POST 2) in Race 4, Fedupwiththefed (POST 1) in Race 5, Coach Case (POST 1) in Race 7, and My Munny Talks (POST 7) in Race 8. Prat has surpassed $34 million in North American purse earnings this season and is in a historic battle with Jose Ortiz for the jockey standings title. His mount selections today skew toward quality trainers — Clement, Brown, Dutrow, Saffie Joseph, Baker — which tells you all you need to know about how seriously the top barns view his abilities. In turf routes and inner turf sprints especially, Prat is operating at peak confidence. He should be on every significant exotic ticket throughout the day.

Ricardo Santana Jr. has eight mounts on the card and is in outstanding form this fall. His assignments include White Smoke Rising (POST 1) in Race 3, Twirly (POST 7) in Race 4, Lady Wisdom (POST 8) in Race 5, Polar Bear Plunge (POST 5) in Race 6, Naguile (POST 7) in Race 7, and dual assignments in Race 8 that need jockey change verification. Santana pairs well with Mertkan Kantarmaci's horses and has shown exceptional ability in route races this fall at Belmont.

Jose Lezcano continues to ride with precision and has six quality mounts today. Jubilee Parade (POST 4) in Race 2 and Spinning Class (POST 9) in Race 4 represent his best win opportunities. Lezcano is a strong turf rider and excels at rating horses in large-field route events.

Kendrick Carmouche is everywhere on this card — J'ray's Jewel (POST 7) in Race 1, Battle (POST 3) in Race 2, Eliminate (POST 6) in Race 3, Private Property (POST 14) in Race 4, Baseball Lady (POST 2) in Race 5, Pineapple Man (POST 1) in Race 6, and Free Refills (POST 6) in Race 7. Carmouche is a versatile rider who handles front-running horses as well as anyone on the circuit. His mounts for Linda Rice and Michelle Nevin particularly deserve watching.

Manuel Franco's double-booking situation in Race 1 (CARPET CITY, POST 2 and NATER TOT, POST 13) requires immediate clarification before post time. Franco also rides Blazing Tiger (POST 1) in Race 2 and Mykonos (POST 5) in Race 8, giving him strong opportunities throughout the day.

JJ Castellano draws fewer mounts than usual today but is on Racing Driver (POST 3) in Race 3, So Vain (POST 11) in Race 4, Full Pour (POST 7) in Race 5, and Take A Stance (POST 12) in Race 7. Castellano's selection of Take A Stance (POST 12) at 12-1 in a state-bred allowance is worth noting as a potential overlay.

Trainer Notes and Insights

Chad Brown looms over this card with two key entries — Lauren's Time (POST 6) in Race 1 and Unlock The Value (POST 10) in Race 5. Brown's turf maiden fillies at Belmont in the fall are among the most reliable pattern plays in New York racing. LAUREN'S TIME is a first-time starter, and Brown habitually debuts turf fillies at this distance with a clear agenda. UNLOCK THE VALUE is his dirt route allowance horse and deserves to be the single in any horizontal ticket involving Race 5.

Miguel Clement runs three horses on the card and stables two co-favorites in Race 2 — Blazing Tiger (POST 1) and Bayfront (POST 9). Having two 2-1 morning line horses from the same barn in the same race is a clear signal that both are trained up to peak fitness. Clement also runs Coach Case (POST 1) and Rhyton (POST 14) in Race 7 — another double entry from the same barn in the same race. Clearly, Clement is sending a message that his horses are sharp and ready to run their races. The exacta box between Clement's pairs in both races is a recommended wager.

Saffie Joseph Jr. has Dilger (POST 7) in Race 3 with Prat — this combination is among the most dangerous on the card. Joseph has been a premier trainer for several seasons running, with win percentages that routinely lead the New York standings in the fall. When he pairs with Prat in a route on the main track in optional claiming company, the result is a horse that will be competitive at a minimum and often a winner.

Bill Mott enters J'ray's Jewel (POST 7) in Race 1 and Jubilee Parade (POST 4) in Race 2. Mott's fall Belmont horses are reliably fit, and his turf runners in particular show consistent class. J'RAY'S JEWEL is the top selection in the opener for good reason.

Richard Dutrow Jr. has Putonahappyface (POST 2) in Race 4 and Salt Spartan (POST 3) in Race 7. Dutrow's claiming mares on turf have been sharp this meet, and PUTONAHAPPYFACE with Prat is a combination to respect regardless of morning-line favoritism.

Linda Rice fields at least one horse in six of the eight races — an extraordinary workload for any single barn. Rice is the quintessential New York claiming trainer: volume-based, well-spotted, and capable of winning at any level. Rungius (POST 2) in Race 6 and Free Refills (POST 6) in Race 7 are her best-value plays on the afternoon. Her Engraved (POST 13) in Race 8 is the top Rice entry if the Santana booking holds.

Best Wagering Strategies and Value Plays

The single best play of the day is Bayfront (POST 9) in Race 2 — the DRF best bet endorsed by Aragona, backed by the Clement-Prat combination and a post position that sets up beautifully for the inner turf at 1430 furlongs. A $20 win bet on Bayfront (POST 9) should be the anchor of the day's investment.

The next best standalone win play is Unlock The Value (POST 10) in Race 5 for Chad Brown with Franco. At 2-1, the price is short but the value is appropriate given Brown's elite allowance win rate.

The value play of the card is Dilger (POST 7) in Race 3 at 3-1 for Saffie Joseph Jr. and Prat. The Saffie-Prat combination in an optional claimer at Belmont is a proven profitable angle, and 3-1 is a reasonable return on investment.

For the Pick 4 (Races 5-8), the recommended structure is as follows:

Race 5: Unlock The Value (POST 10) single. Race 6: Polar Bear Plunge (POST 5), Pineapple Man (POST 1), Rungius (POST 2). Race 7: Naguile (POST 7), Coach Case (POST 1), Oat Coutour (POST 4), Salt Spartan (POST 3). Race 8: My Munny Talks (POST 7), Eye On The Ball (POST 11), Engraved (POST 13), Mykonos (POST 5).

This 1 x 3 x 4 x 4 ticket costs $48 for a $1 base — a very manageable investment for a sequence anchored by a Chad Brown single in Race 5.

For an early Pick 4 anchored on Race 2, use Bayfront (POST 9) and Blazing Tiger (POST 1) together as a dual key in Race 2, pair with Dilger (POST 7) in Race 3, Putonahappyface (POST 2) in Race 4, and Unlock The Value (POST 10) in Race 5. A 2 x 1 x 1 x 1 structure costs just $2 at $1 base — the highest-confidence sequence on the card.

The best exotica opportunity is the trifecta in Race 8. A 15-horse maiden claimer on the inner turf is a pool that will generate significant carryover-adjacent value. Structure: My Munny Talks (POST 7) and Eye On The Ball (POST 11) on top in combination, with Engraved (POST 13), Mykonos (POST 5), Classic Commander (POST 12), Nickerson (POST 9), and Richies Love (POST 8) filling the third position. A $1 trifecta key (2 x 5 split on top with 5 underneath) costs $20 and can return four figures if a 12-1 or higher shot sneaks into the third spot.

The jockey angle of the day: anything Flavien Prat rides from the Clement barn, the Brown barn, or the Saffie Joseph barn is a mandatory include on exotic tickets. His seven mounts today span the full price spectrum, but his three most important rides — Bayfront (POST 9), Dilger (POST 7), and Coach Case (POST 1) — are each from elite barns in competitive races at workable odds.

Final note: verify all jockey assignments before the first post, particularly Manuel Franco's dual booking in Race 1 and the potential Santana and Zayas conflicts in Race 8. In a card this deep with this many exotic overlaps, a last-minute jockey change can significantly alter the wagering calculus.
