Thistledown Race Day Overview — October 5, 2026

Thistledown Racetrack in North Randall, Ohio opens its Monday card with eight races spanning claiming, allowance, and maiden special weight conditions. The card is headlined by a pair of $35,800 allowance events and a $40,100 allowance for older females, making for a solid mid-week program. Total handle targets are modest given the weekday timing, but the exotic pools should offer sharp players legitimate value across the board. The card runs clockwise on the one-mile dirt oval, with first post set for 12:50 PM Eastern.

Thistledown has been running consistently through the fall meet, and the grounds crew has been active maintaining the strip heading into October. The fall Thoroughbred meet has seen competitive fields throughout, with several barns showing sharp current form. Trainer activity from the Radosevich family — both Jeff and Justin — is notable across the card, as is the presence of Craig Sweeting and Johanna Urieta, both of whom have been among the more active conditioners on the grounds.

Notable angles for today include the Juarez barn running a coupled entry in Race 2, the Radosevich Jeff barn running a coupled entry in Race 6, and the DaCosta Jason barn with a morning-line favorite in Race 4. The all-fillies and mares conditions in Races 3, 6, and 7 make for natural sequencing opportunities in vertical and horizontal exotics.

Weather and Track Conditions — October 5, 2026

October in North Randall, Ohio typically brings cool, partly cloudy conditions. Forecast for today calls for temperatures in the low-to-mid 50s Fahrenheit with light winds out of the northwest at 8-12 mph. No precipitation is expected through the afternoon racing card, and the track is anticipated to be rated fast or good.

The Thistledown strip has been playing fair through the fall meet with no significant rain in the days preceding this card. Based on recent maintenance reports and the dry forecast, the main track is expected to be listed as fast at post time. Thistledown's main track has historically rewarded horses with early speed when the strip is fast and the rail is not sealed, though the inside path has shown wear late in fall meets as turf season winds down at other local circuits and traffic patterns shift.

Track Bias and Post Position Analysis

Thistledown's one-mile oval is a tight, short-stretch track that rewards speed horses considerably on fast days. The stretch run is approximately 660 feet, which is shorter than most major circuit tracks, and horses who can secure a ground-saving position on or near the lead going into the first turn have a structural advantage. This is particularly relevant in the 1,320-foot sprint races, where the run to the first turn from the gate is brief.

Inside posts — particularly Posts 1 through 4 — carry a meaningful edge in sprints at this track when the surface is fast, as horses can save ground and avoid wide trips. Outside posts in 1,320-foot dashes at Thistledown often force jockeys to either use early speed to clear, costing energy, or settle three and four wide around the turn, which rarely plays well. In the two route races on today's card — Race 1 at 1,760 feet — post position impact is somewhat moderated, as horses have time to settle into position, though the rail path remains advantageous for closers able to find a seam.

For the maiden sprint races and allowance sprints, lean toward inside-to-middle posts when two horses are of comparable ability. The bias toward speed is real and persistent at Thistledown. Players should watch early fractional times race by race to determine whether speed is holding or whether closers are getting through late.

RACE 1 — Post (12:50)/11:50/10:50/9:50 — 1760f | D | C | Clm 5000n2y | BUN | Purse $12,200

This is a one-mile claiming event for horses that have not won two races this year, restricted to non-winners of two, at the modest $5,000 claiming level. The purse of $12,200 reflects the bottom-level condition, and the field of seven figures to be a wide-open affair at first glance. The route distance at 1,760 feet favors horses with tactical speed or stamina, and with the morning line positioned the way it is, Coastertothemoon (POST 4) and Harbour Bridge (POST 1) figure to dominate the early betting.

Pace Analysis

This field is likely to see moderate early fractions given the route distance and the mix of styles. Coastertothemoon (POST 4) has the early foot to press or lead from the four hole, a clean middle draw for a route at Thistledown. Harbour Bridge (POST 1) figures to be forwardly placed from the inside post. With two likely pace factors, the fractions figure to be honest enough to set up a potential closer. Broadway Sky (POST 5) and Star Weaver (POST 7) could be pace beneficiaries if the early speed duels. Watch the opening quarter — if it comes up under :23 flat, closers get a live look late.

Key Contenders

Coastertothemoon (POST 4) is the morning-line favorite at 1-1 and the horse to beat in here. Trained by Johanna Urieta, who has shown an ability to spot her horses in appropriate spots, and ridden by D.L. Parker, this horse fits the non-winners-of-two claiming condition and projects as the class of the field at this level. Parker is a capable pilot who knows the Thistledown oval well, and the four post is a good draw in a route at this track. The 1-1 morning line reflects genuine public confidence, and Urieta's horses have been running well through the fall meet. Expect Coastertothemoon (POST 4) to be forwardly placed and difficult to pass.

Harbour Bridge (POST 1) is the second choice at 2-1, saddled by Craig Sweeting and ridden by Luis Alberto Batista. Sweeting is one of the more active trainers on the Thistledown grounds and consistently keeps his horses competitive. Batista is among the top riders at this meet and knows how to exploit the rail in routes. From the one post, Harbour Bridge (POST 1) should secure a ground-saving trip and be in contention throughout. The 2-1 morning line is fair, and this horse should finish close.

Secondary Choices

Majestic Frontier (POST 3) at 8-1 is trained by Amy Sondej, who runs a small but active stable at Thistledown. The three post gives this horse a clean run to the first turn, and at 8-1, there is overlay potential if this horse has been training well heading into today. Sondej also has Star Weaver (POST 7) in this race, so handicappers should watch to see if one horse is clearly the barn's main hope based on jockey assignments. McKenna Anderson takes the mount on Majestic Frontier (POST 3).

Coalminer's Kitten (POST 2) at 6-1, trained by Rodney C. Faulkner and ridden by Angel I. Diaz, deserves attention at the morning line price. Faulkner is a trainer who spots his horses thoughtfully, and Diaz is a productive rider at this meet. The two post keeps this horse inside and conserves ground in the route. At 6-1, this is a horse worth including in exacta and trifecta tickets.

Longshots

Broadway Sky (POST 5) at 10-1 is trained by Michelle Winters and ridden by Alexander Chavez. An outside post in a route is less damaging than in a sprint, and if Broadway Sky (POST 5) can establish position early, there is a chance of a minor award at a generous price. Include on trifecta tickets.

Bucket List (POST 6) at 12-1 from the Mahan barn with Victor R. Fernandez up is a deep longshot but must improve significantly to factor. At the $5,000 claiming level, anything can happen, but the 12-1 morning line is appropriate. Minor exotic use only.

Star Weaver (POST 7) at 15-1 is the second Sondej runner and draws the outside post. David J. Haldar gets the mount. The outside post in a route is survivable, but Star Weaver (POST 7) would need a perfect trip and a pace collapse up front to be a factor. Toss unless the price balloons significantly.

Betting Strategy and Wagering Angles

This is a straightforward race to structure vertically. Coastertothemoon (POST 4) and Harbour Bridge (POST 1) appear to be the two logical choices, and a straight exacta both ways — 4 over 1 and 1 over 4 — is the base play. Using Coalminer's Kitten (POST 2) and Majestic Frontier (POST 3) as trifecta fillers offers value at mid-range prices. The race serves as the opener for horizontal wagers — use both top choices in the Pick 3 and Pick 4 if those structures are available.

Selections

Win: Coastertothemoon (POST 4) Place: Harbour Bridge (POST 1) Show: Coalminer's Kitten (POST 2)

RACE 2 — Post (1:20)/12:20/11:20/10:20 — 1320f | D | C | Clm 16000n2y | BUN | Purse $21,400

A six-furlong claiming sprint for non-winners of two this year at the $16,000 level. This is a significant jump in class over Race 1, and the purse of $21,400 reflects a more competitive condition. Seven horses are entered, with the Juarez barn running a coupled entry in Posts 1 and 3. The morning line is anchored by Reckless L J (POST 5) at 2-1, with Fourdatesforhoco (POST 7) at 3-1 as the likely second choice. This figures to be a pace-honest sprint with several horses capable of competing near the front.

Pace Analysis

The six-furlong distance here sets up for a genuine speed battle. Reckless L J (POST 5) from the Radosevich Jeff barn and Fourdatesforhoco (POST 7) trained by Craig Sweeting figure to be the main pace setters. Hidden Ransom (POST 1), part of the Juarez entry, could also be forwardly placed from the inside post. With potentially three horses looking to establish early position, the fractions could be contested, which would benefit any horse with a late kick. Kinderhook (POST 6) could be a beneficiary if the pace crumbles.

Key Contenders

Reckless L J (POST 5) at 2-1 is the morning-line favorite and is trained by Jeff Radosevich, one of the more prolific conditioners working the Thistledown circuit. The Radosevich barn — both Jeff and Justin — are among the meet's leaders in starts and have been effective spotting horses in appropriate conditions. L.R. Rivera takes the mount from the five post, a solid mid-field draw in a sprint that gives the rider options. At 2-1, Reckless L J (POST 5) will need to be on or near the lead to hold the chalk role.

Fourdatesforhoco (POST 7) at 3-1 is trained by Craig Sweeting and will be guided by Luis Alberto Batista, one of the meet's top pilots. The outside seven post in a six-furlong sprint at Thistledown is a slight disadvantage, as noted in the track bias section. Batista will likely push early to clear and secure a ground-saving path, though that tactical use of energy is worth monitoring. The Sweeting and Batista combination is one of the more productive at this track, and Fourdatesforhoco (POST 7) is firmly on the ticket at morning-line odds.

Secondary Choices

Knock Wood (POST 2) at 4-1 is trained by Kristina M. Tumblin and ridden by Chelsey Keiser. The two post is excellent in a sprint at Thistledown, allowing this horse to save ground and potentially get a clean trip on or near the rail. Tumblin is an active trainer on the grounds, and Keiser has been a productive rider this meet. At 4-1, Knock Wood (POST 2) represents value if this horse has been working sharp.

Kinderhook (POST 6) at 6-1 is trained by Marco Ibarra and ridden by Erik Barbaran. If the early pace is as contested as the entries suggest, Kinderhook (POST 6) could be ideally positioned as a late runner. Barbaran has been among the busier riders on the circuit and knows how to position a closer. The 6-1 morning line is fair, and this horse could easily fit the trifecta.

Hidden Ransom (POST 1) is part of the Juarez coupled entry with Watchoutforweaver (POST 3). The Juarez barn runs two horses here, and Hidden Ransom (POST 1) draws the rail with Rocco Bowen aboard. The inside post is a significant asset in a sprint. At the combined entry odds of 4-1, this represents reasonable value if the barn's main intention is Hidden Ransom (POST 1).

Longshots

Watchoutforweaver (POST 3) at 10-1 is the other Juarez runner, handled by Humberto Haldar. The three post is workable, but with Hidden Ransom (POST 1) getting the preferred inside draw, Watchoutforweaver (POST 3) figures to be the second string of the entry. Still worth including in deep trifectas.

Prosecutor (POST 4) at 8-1 from the Guciardo barn with Angel I. Diaz gives this horse an interesting ticket. Diaz is a capable rider who regularly hits the board, and the four post is a good draw. The 8-1 morning line may offer slight value depending on how the tote opens. Use in exotics.

Betting Strategy and Wagering Angles

The key play in Race 2 is to determine whether the pace will be contested enough to set up a closer. If Reckless L J (POST 5) and Fourdatesforhoco (POST 7) duel early, Knock Wood (POST 2) and Kinderhook (POST 6) become live at bigger prices. An exacta wheel with Reckless L J (POST 5) on top, using Fourdatesforhoco (POST 7), Knock Wood (POST 2), Kinderhook (POST 6), and Hidden Ransom (POST 1) back is the recommended structure. Trifecta boxes of the top four are the play for exotic players.

Selections

Win: Reckless L J (POST 5) Place: Fourdatesforhoco (POST 7) Show: Knock Wood (POST 2)

RACE 3 — Post (1:50)/12:50/11:50/10:50 — 1320f | D | A | Alw 35800n2l | BUM | Purse $35,800

A six-furlong allowance sprint restricted to fillies and mares that have not won two lifetime races, with an allowance purse of $35,800. This is a quality condition for Thistledown, and the ten-horse field makes for one of the more complex betting races on the card. First Kiss Ever (POST 6) at 2-1 is the clear morning-line choice, with Rivers Angel (POST 7) at 3-1 the likely second option. This is the first stakes-quality condition of the afternoon.

Pace Analysis

Ten fillies and mares going six furlongs on a fast track will generate an active early pace. First Kiss Ever (POST 6) is likely to be forwardly placed from the six post, and Rivers Angel (POST 7) could also be near the lead. The pace here should be honest, and with a ten-horse field, the first turn can get congested quickly. Horses drawing Posts 5 through 8 will need to work early to avoid trouble. Lizzy's Dream (POST 8) from the Zielinski barn and Dark N Dirty (POST 4) from the Ruberto barn could benefit if they can settle off a hot pace and come late.

Key Contenders

First Kiss Ever (POST 6) at 2-1 is trained by Justin Radosevich, the younger of the two Radosevich trainers and one of the most active and effective handlers at Thistledown. Justin Radosevich has been especially productive in allowance conditions, and the mount goes to Gerardo Corrales, a reliable rider at this meet. The six post in a ten-horse field is workable but will require a clean start. At 2-1, this horse is the public's clear choice, and the Radosevich barn's record in allowance spots warrants respect.

Rivers Angel (POST 7) at 3-1 from the Corriveau barn and ridden by T.D. Houghton is the second choice. Houghton is a veteran rider who understands how to set up a horse in a sprint, and the seven post in a ten-horse field is manageable. At 3-1, Rivers Angel (POST 7) figures to be involved late and should be included across all exotic structures.

Secondary Choices

Lizzy's Dream (POST 8) at 5-1 is the second runner from the Zielinski barn, saddled by trainer Richard Zielinski who also sends out Stacy Ellen (POST 1). Brandon Tapara takes the mount, and the eight post in a ten-horse field places this horse near the middle of the gate in terms of running room. At 5-1, Lizzy's Dream (POST 8) could be a pace beneficiary, and the Zielinski barn's confidence is worth noting given they have two horses entered.

Dark N Dirty (POST 4) at 8-1 trained by Louis V. Ruberto and handled by Humberto Haldar draws a clean four post and could improve at this price. The inside draw is an advantage, and if Dark N Dirty (POST 4) can settle into a stalking position behind the likely pace duel, a big figure is possible at 8-1.

Stacy Ellen (POST 1) at 6-1 trained by Richard Zielinski and ridden by Fernando Salazar Becerra draws the rail. In a ten-horse field at six furlongs, the one post can be a trap if the horse is wide at the start, but in a sprint the inside provides a ground-saving advantage for a horse with enough early foot. Salazar Becerra is one of the meet's busier and more effective riders. At 6-1, Stacy Ellen (POST 1) deserves secondary consideration.

Longshots

Truest Air (POST 3) at 10-1 is trained by Mike Rone and handled by Erik Barbaran. The three post is a favorable draw, and Barbaran's reliability in the irons makes this one interesting at double-digit odds. Worth including in trifectas.

Gypsy Kat (POST 5) at 12-1 from the Urieta barn with D.L. Parker up is a mid-field draw with a question mark at the price. Urieta has runners throughout today's card, and Parker is a competent rider. Worth a trifecta spot.

Bold Sally (POST 2) at 15-1 from Lopez Jacinto with Mauro Cedillo gets a rail-adjacent post but faces a tough morning line. Deep exotics only.

All That Sass (POST 9) at 15-1 from the Radosevich Justin barn is interesting given the trainer's record in this type of allowance condition. However, with First Kiss Ever (POST 6) as the barn's clear first string, All That Sass (POST 9) is a secondary runner. Bracho Jose A. rides. Trifecta filler at best.

Delta Marie (POST 10) at 15-1 from the Puhl barn with L.A. Gonzalez and the outside ten post faces long odds of improving enough to matter. Pass on win, minor exotic inclusion only.

Betting Strategy and Wagering Angles

Race 3 is the deepest field of the afternoon and offers the best opportunity for a mid-price trifecta payout. The play is to key First Kiss Ever (POST 6) on top and use Rivers Angel (POST 7), Lizzy's Dream (POST 8), Dark N Dirty (POST 4), and Stacy Ellen (POST 1) in underneath spots. A trifecta part-wheel of 6 over 7/8/4/1 over 7/8/4/1 offers excellent coverage at a reasonable cost. This race is also part of the middle of any Pick 3 or Pick 4 sequences, and using multiple horses here is recommended.

Selections

Win: First Kiss Ever (POST 6) Place: Rivers Angel (POST 7) Show: Lizzy's Dream (POST 8)

RACE 4 — Post (2:20)/1:20/12:20/11:20 — 1320f | D | S | Md Sp Wt | AOF | Purse $33,900

A six-furlong maiden special weight for fillies and mares, all ages, with a purse of $33,900. The morning line is topped by Tulsi (POST 8) at 1-1, a significant public choice from the DaCosta Jason barn with Luis Alberto Batista up. In a maiden field, a 1-1 choice is meaningful, and the question is whether Tulsi (POST 8) can justify the heavy favoritism. Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) at 4-1 and Pipsy Chick (POST 3) at 5-1 figure to be the main challengers.

Pace Analysis

A maiden sprint going six furlongs figures to be somewhat loose early, as these horses are still developing. Tulsi (POST 8) figures to be prominent from the outside post with Batista pushing to clear the field early. Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) could press from the rail, and Pipsy Chick (POST 3) from the Gorham barn may also try to establish position. If the pace opens up, any stalker with ability gets a look. Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) and Pipsy Chick (POST 3) may offer the best pace-trip scenarios.

Key Contenders

Tulsi (POST 8) at 1-1 is the overwhelming morning-line favorite and carries the weight of public expectation. Jason DaCosta is a capable trainer who would not have this horse installed at 1-1 unless she showed significant ability in the mornings. Batista is the meet's leading or near-leading rider, and the combination of trainer and jockey commands respect. The eight post in a sprint is the concern — Batista will need to use Tulsi (POST 8) early or settle for a wide trip. At 1-1, the price limits the value, but this is the horse to beat.

Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) at 4-1 from the Meyers barn with Jose A. Bracho gets the best possible post in a sprint on this track. If Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) shows any early speed, the rail draw becomes a significant advantage. Shane Meyers is a solid trainer at Thistledown, and Bracho is a capable rider. At 4-1, this is the prime overlay in the race.

Secondary Choices

Pipsy Chick (POST 3) at 5-1 trained by Robert M. Gorham and handled by Fernando Salazar Becerra draws a clean three post and may be the most professional of the maiden runners in terms of preparation. Gorham is a careful conditioner who spots his horses thoughtfully, and Salazar Becerra is effective in maiden races at this circuit. At 5-1, there is overlay potential if this horse has been impressing in morning drills.

Time Traveler (POST 4) at 6-1 from the Jackson James R. barn with L.R. Rivera gives this horse a mid-field draw that could set up a stalking trip. The four post is serviceable, and Rivera is reliable. At 6-1, Time Traveler (POST 4) is worth secondary exotic consideration.

Longshots

Sea Dreams (POST 7) at 12-1 from the Hamm Timothy barn with Rocco Bowen draws an outside post but Bowen is a solid rider who can manage wide trips. At 12-1, include in deep trifectas.

Centauria (POST 2) at 10-1 from the Ibarra barn with Alexander Chavez draws a favorable two post. Ibarra runs horses frequently at this meet, and Chavez is a capable pilot. At 10-1, the price is intriguing in a maiden sprint — include in exotics.

Reese's Agenda (POST 5) at 20-1 from the Szczepanski barn with Angel I. Diaz. Even with Diaz up, the 20-1 morning line suggests significant distance from the top horses. Trifecta longshot only.

Cyber Queen (POST 6) at 20-1 from the Faulkner barn with David J. Haldar is a deep longshot. Pass.

Betting Strategy and Wagering Angles

The play in Race 4 is against Tulsi (POST 8) at 1-1 if you can find value. The recommended structure is a win bet on Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) at 4-1 and an exacta using Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) and Pipsy Chick (POST 3) with Tulsi (POST 8) underneath in case the favorite runs her race. A reverse exacta — Tulsi (POST 8) on top with Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) and Pipsy Chick (POST 3) — is the hedge. The trifecta using 1/3/4 with 8 ensures coverage of the main scenarios. At 1-1, there is no win value on Tulsi (POST 8), but the exacta return if she wins over a big price is modest — the upside is in playing against her.

Selections

Win: Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) Place: Tulsi (POST 8) Show: Pipsy Chick (POST 3)

RACE 5 — Post (2:50)/1:50/12:50/11:50 — 1210f | D | A | Alw 35800n2l | BUN | Purse $35,800

A 1,210-foot sprint — approximately six furlongs with a slight extension — for horses that have not won two lifetime races at the allowance level. The morning-line chalk is Quick Ship (POST 6) at 2-1 from the Radosevich Justin barn, with Bukele (POST 1) at 3-1 and Killa Creed (POST 7) at 4-1 as the other likely public choices. This is a well-structured sprint that figures to be strongly contested.

Pace Analysis

Quick Ship (POST 6) and Bukele (POST 1) both project as forwardly placed runners. From the six post, Quick Ship (POST 6) may need to accelerate to clear the field, while Bukele (POST 1) gets the rail and can settle into an ideal ground-saving position without expending early energy. The inside advantage is real here, and Bukele (POST 1) with Fernando Salazar Becerra in the irons could exploit that structural edge. Killa Creed (POST 7) from the Wolochuk barn figures to run late off any honest pace.

Key Contenders

Quick Ship (POST 6) at 2-1 is the top choice from the Radosevich Justin barn, trained by one of the card's most active conditioners. Gerardo Corrales gets the mount, and the Corrales-Radosevich combination has shown good results at this meet. The six post in a sprint is workable but requires early foot to secure a clean position. At 2-1, Quick Ship (POST 6) is fairly priced and likely to be on or near the lead.

Bukele (POST 1) at 3-1 from the Vecchio Caryn barn with Fernando Salazar Becerra from the rail post is a fascinating play. The one post in a sprint at Thistledown is a genuine asset on fast days, and Salazar Becerra is smart enough to use that inside draw to maximum effect. Vecchio is an active trainer at this meet, and if Bukele (POST 1) has ability, the inside draw can carry a horse a long way. At 3-1, this is the most attractive betting proposition in the race.

Secondary Choices

Killa Creed (POST 7) at 4-1 from the Wolochuk David barn with Chelsey Keiser is the main closing threat. The seven post in a sprint forces Keiser to work this horse into position early, but if the pace is genuine, Killa Creed (POST 7) could roll late. At 4-1, this is a solid each-way play.

Moonlighter (POST 4) at 6-1 from the Gorham barn with Erik Barbaran draws a clean mid-field post. Gorham and Barbaran are a competent tandem, and the 6-1 price on a mid-field runner in an allowance sprint is worth investigating. Moonlighter (POST 4) deserves a place in exacta and trifecta structures.

Longshots

Curious Corn (POST 8) at 8-1 from the Jarvis Kathy barn with Santiago Gonzalez is an outside post runner that will need a wide trip to factor. Include in trifectas if the price looks inflated.

Estoico (POST 2) at 10-1 from the Ibarra barn with Luis Alberto Batista is interesting given the jockey assignment. Batista does not ride longshots without reason, and the two post is a favorable draw. At 10-1, this could be a live bomb if Ibarra has this horse ready.

Leftitforyou (POST 3) at 15-1 from the Zielinski barn with Jose A. Bracho. The Zielinski barn is active on the card today, but the 15-1 morning line suggests this horse faces a tougher ask. Minor exotic use.

Lemon Drop Hero (POST 5) at 20-1 from the Poole barn with R. Feliciano is a deep longshot. Pass.

Betting Strategy and Wagering Angles

The Race 5 betting strategy centers on the Radosevich Justin barn entry Quick Ship (POST 6) versus the rail post advantage of Bukele (POST 1). An exacta box of these two horses is the base play. Adding Killa Creed (POST 7) to the trifecta underneath those two at 4-1 provides a 4-2-7 or 1-6-7 structure that could pay nicely. The most interesting single-race play is a win bet on Bukele (POST 1) at 3-1 to beat the chalk from the inside.

Selections

Win: Quick Ship (POST 6) Place: Bukele (POST 1) Show: Killa Creed (POST 7)

RACE 6 — Post (3:20)/2:20/1:20/12:20 — 1320f | D | M | Md 12500 | BUM | Purse $18,900

A six-furlong maiden claiming sprint for fillies and mares at the $12,500 claiming price, with a purse of $18,900. The morning line is topped by Pleasure Pearl (POST 1) at 2-1, with Divine Silence (POST 7) at 4-1 and the Jeff Radosevich coupled entry of Almost Drilled (POST 8) and Chick With A Drill (POST 9) also at 4-1. The ten-horse field makes for a full and competitive maiden claiming event.

Pace Analysis

Pleasure Pearl (POST 1) at 2-1 figures to be on the lead from the rail post. The inside post in a sprint at Thistledown is a meaningful asset, and with 2-1 morning-line odds, this is a horse who figures to be front-running. The Radosevich Jeff entry — Almost Drilled (POST 8) and Chick With A Drill (POST 9) — could push from outside, and Divine Silence (POST 7) from the Vazquez barn has the ingredients of a late mover. If Pleasure Pearl (POST 1) is pressured early, the pace should suit closers.

Key Contenders

Pleasure Pearl (POST 1) at 2-1 is trained by Megan Fadlovich and ridden by Erik Barbaran. The rail post in a maiden claiming sprint is one of the most reliable structural advantages at Thistledown, and Barbaran knows how to exploit inside draws at this oval. Fadlovich has been placing this horse here, and the morning-line confidence of 2-1 reflects genuine expectation. This is a straightforward top choice.

Divine Silence (POST 7) at 4-1 from the Vazquez Ivan barn with Fernando Salazar Becerra is a legitimate second choice. Salazar Becerra is one of the busier and more effective riders at this meet, and Divine Silence (POST 7) draws a seven post that places the horse in the middle-to-outside of the gate — manageable in a ten-horse field. At 4-1, this is live money.

Secondary Choices

Almost Drilled (POST 8) at 4-1 as part of the Jeff Radosevich entry draws the eight post with Jose A. Bracho up. The Radosevich Jeff barn is one of the most active at Thistledown, and running two horses in a maiden claiming sprint suggests this barn is trying hard to break one through. Almost Drilled (POST 8) with Bracho in the irons gets the slightly better post of the two entry horses. At entry odds, this could represent value depending on where the tote settles.

Chick With A Drill (POST 9) at 6-1 for individual morning-line purposes (combined entry odds at 4-1) with L.R. Rivera from the nine post. The outside draw is a disadvantage, but Rivera is a solid rider. With the combined entry money, this horse has betting support regardless of individual merit.

Longshots

Evan Come Home (POST 6) at 10-1 from the Murillo Rodriguez Alejandro barn with Luis Tapara is an interesting longshot from a favorable six post. Luis Tapara is an active rider, and at 10-1, this horse could sneak into the trifecta.

Oak Mirna (POST 4) at 8-1 from the Atala Jose barn with Luis Alberto Batista is extremely interesting given the jockey assignment. Batista does not take maiden claiming mounts casually, and the four post in a sprint is a good draw. At 8-1, this could be the race's best value play if Batista is there for a purpose.

Bonita Dominica (POST 2) at 12-1 from the Radosevich Justin barn with Gerardo Corrales draws a favorable two post but faces a tough morning line. The Justin Radosevich connection warrants exotic consideration.

Victory Chant (POST 3) at 15-1 from the Shanyfelt barn with S. Jimenez. Difficult to trust at this price in a maiden claiming field. Pass.

Team Chiquita (POST 5) at 20-1 from the Casalinova barn with McKenna Anderson. Deep longshot. Pass.

Machiko (POST 10) at 20-1 from the Urieta barn with Jerome J. Innis draws the outside ten post in a maiden sprint, a nearly insurmountable disadvantage on a fast track. Pass.

Betting Strategy and Wagering Angles

The key plays in Race 6 are the Oak Mirna (POST 4) angle with Batista aboard at 8-1 and the Pleasure Pearl (POST 1) inside draw. A win bet on Oak Mirna (POST 4) as a value play, combined with an exacta boxing of Pleasure Pearl (POST 1), Divine Silence (POST 7), and Oak Mirna (POST 4), covers the main scenarios. The Jeff Radosevich coupled entry (Almost Drilled (POST 8) and Chick With A Drill (POST 9)) should be used in trifecta underneath positions. A trifecta part-wheel of 1/7/4 on top with 8/9 underneath provides a cost-effective structure.

Selections

Win: Pleasure Pearl (POST 1) Place: Divine Silence (POST 7) Show: Oak Mirna (POST 4)

RACE 7 — Post (3:50)/2:50/1:50/12:50 — 1320f | D | A | Alw 40100n4l | BUM | Purse $40,100

A six-furlong allowance sprint for fillies and mares that have not won four lifetime races, with a purse of $40,100. This is the day's featured race and the highest purse on the card. The six-horse field is anchored by co-morning-line favorites Gray Perfection (POST 2) and Miss Elecktra (POST 5), both at 2-1. Tipsy Tulip (POST 1) at 4-1 and Electric Eden (POST 6) at 5-1 fill out the field alongside She's Willie Fast (POST 3) at 8-1 and Gatha's Song (POST 4) at 10-1.

Pace Analysis

This six-horse allowance sprint is the card's marquee event and figures to be the most sharply run race of the afternoon. Tipsy Tulip (POST 1) from the Rivera Nestor R. barn may try to establish the pace from the rail, and Gray Perfection (POST 2) from the Mike Rone barn is likely to be forwardly placed as well. Miss Elecktra (POST 5) trained by Jason DaCosta projects as a stalker who can accelerate in the final furlong. With six horses at quality allowance conditions, the fractions should be legitimate and set up a stern stretch drive. Electric Eden (POST 6) with Brandon Tapara could be the late runner to watch.

Key Contenders

Gray Perfection (POST 2) at 2-1 is trained by Mike Rone and ridden by Erik Barbaran. The two post gives this horse a clean run to the first turn, and at this level of allowance condition, Gray Perfection (POST 2) figures to have demonstrated class in previous starts. Barbaran is a strong rider who handles front-runners and stalkers equally well. In a six-horse field, the two post and 2-1 morning line put Gray Perfection (POST 2) squarely in the center of the analysis. Rone's horses are typically well-prepared and consistently competitive.

Miss Elecktra (POST 5) at 2-1 is the co-favorite from the DaCosta Jason barn, and Luis Alberto Batista — who is already aboard the Race 4 favorite Tulsi (POST 8) — is tasked with Miss Elecktra (POST 5) here. DaCosta has shown throughout this meet that he can produce horses ready to run, and Batista's presence on a co-favorite at the day's featured event is meaningful. The five post in a six-horse sprint is a slight outside draw but very manageable, and in a race this size, post position impact is reduced.

Secondary Choices

Tipsy Tulip (POST 1) at 4-1 from the Rivera Nestor R. barn with Gerardo Corrales gets the premium inside draw. If Tipsy Tulip (POST 1) has early pace and Corrales can control the tempo from the rail, this horse could wire the field at a price. At 4-1, this is the best value play in the featured race. Corrales has been riding well throughout the fall meet, and a front-running winner from the inside in a small field is always a threat.

Electric Eden (POST 6) at 5-1 from the Zielinski barn with Brandon Tapara draws the outside post in a six-horse sprint, which is less damaging than in a larger field. The Zielinski barn has been active all card, and if Electric Eden (POST 6) has been training well, the 5-1 price offers appeal as the potential closing threat in the race's finale.

Longshots

She's Willie Fast (POST 3) at 8-1 from the Poole barn with Jose A. Bracho draws a clean three post but faces a morning-line price that suggests significant improvement is needed. Bracho is a capable rider who could engineer a good trip, but 8-1 in a six-horse field means the handicappers see this as a clear third or fourth choice. Include in trifectas as a filler.

Gatha's Song (POST 4) at 10-1 from the Meyers Shane barn with Alexander Chavez is the longest shot in the field. The four post is fine, and Chavez is a reliable rider, but 10-1 in a six-horse field with two 2-1 choices sends a clear signal. Trifecta only.

Betting Strategy and Wagering Angles

The featured race presents a classic co-favorite situation that often produces exacta and trifecta value. The base play is an exacta box of Gray Perfection (POST 2), Miss Elecktra (POST 5), and Tipsy Tulip (POST 1). At 2-1 and 2-1 on the two top choices, the win pool offers no value, but the exacta between any combination of these three at 4-1 underneath each other could return satisfying prices. A trifecta box of 1/2/5 with Electric Eden (POST 6) underneath is the recommended structure. The best single play in the feature is a win bet on Tipsy Tulip (POST 1) at 4-1 — best value of the main three.

Selections

Win: Gray Perfection (POST 2) Place: Miss Elecktra (POST 5) Show: Tipsy Tulip (POST 1)

RACE 8 — Post (4:20)/3:20/2:20/1:20 — 1210f | D | S | Md Sp Wt | BUN | Purse $33,900

The closing race of the card is a maiden special weight sprint of approximately six furlongs (1,210 feet) for colts and geldings, all ages, with a purse of $33,900. The morning-line chalk is Candyman Andy (POST 6) at 2-1 from the Keiser Deborah barn, with Lowells Legacy (POST 4) and Watch And Wager (POST 10) both at 4-1. The ten-horse field makes for a full closer and natural last-race exotic opportunities.

Pace Analysis

In a ten-horse maiden sprint, the early pace figures to be chaotic, with multiple horses searching for position. Candyman Andy (POST 6) from the Keiser Deborah barn should be forwardly placed, while Lowells Legacy (POST 4) from the Fletcher Jeff barn and Watch And Wager (POST 10) from the Zielinski barn could both be in contention early. Everynowandthen (POST 7) from the Bird Danny barn could be a late closer. In a ten-horse maiden event, the ability to secure a clean trip near the inside is the premium — Posts 1 through 5 have the best chance of doing that without using excessive early energy.

Key Contenders

Candyman Andy (POST 6) at 2-1 is trained by Deborah Keiser and ridden by Chelsey Keiser, a trainer-jockey family combination that has been productive at Thistledown. The six post in a ten-horse field is workable, and Chelsey Keiser knows this horse's tendencies better than any other jockey on the grounds. The family stable angle often produces results in maiden events, and 2-1 reflects genuine morning-line confidence. The Keiser family connection is one of the card's most compelling stable angles.

Lowells Legacy (POST 4) at 4-1 from the Fletcher Jeff barn with Gerardo Corrales draws the best post of the top three choices. The four post in a ten-horse sprint provides a clean run to the first turn with racing room and the ability to save ground. Corrales is one of the card's more active riders, and a clean mid-field draw with a 4-1 morning line in a maiden sprint is an attractive ticket.

Secondary Choices

Watch And Wager (POST 10) at 4-1 from the Zielinski barn with Fernando Salazar Becerra faces the worst post position challenge in the race. The outside ten post in a ten-horse maiden sprint at Thistledown is a significant structural disadvantage, and while the Zielinski barn and Salazar Becerra are competent, the post draw must be factored heavily. If the morning-line odds are accurate, this horse may be the class of the field, making the outside post the critical variable.

Everynowandthen (POST 7) at 6-1 from the Bird Danny barn with T.D. Houghton gives this horse an outside-middle draw. Houghton is a veteran who can set up horses for late runs, and at 6-1, Everynowandthen (POST 7) could be the closer to trust if the early pace is contested.

Longshots

Bay Ja Blue (POST 8) at 8-1 from the Lopez Jacinto barn with Mauro Cedillo draws an outside post that limits ground-saving ability. At 8-1, this is a deep exotic play only. Lopez has other runners throughout the card, and it is worth tracking this barn's overall form.

Spring River (POST 9) at 10-1 from the Faulkner barn with Erik Barbaran is interesting given Barbaran's busy day. At 10-1 from the nine post in a maiden sprint, Spring River (POST 9) would need a significant performance to factor. Include in deep trifectas.

Cleatus (POST 1) at 12-1 from the Juarez-Mendoza Rey barn with Alejandro Gomez draws the rail, which is the best post in the field. Despite the 12-1 morning line, the rail draw in a ten-horse sprint at Thistledown on a fast track means Cleatus (POST 1) has a legitimate structural advantage. If this horse has ability, the inside post could propel a top-three finish at a generous price. Consider using on trifecta tickets.

Kashman (POST 2) at 15-1 from the Puhl barn with L.A. Gonzalez draws a two post that keeps this horse inside. Despite the long odds, the favorable draw deserves minor exotic consideration.

River Captain (POST 3) at 15-1 from the Radosevich Justin barn with Jose A. Bracho gets a three post — one of the better draws in the field — from a barn that has been productive at this meet. The 15-1 morning line suggests limited expectations, but the barn and jockey combination warrants a small trifecta play.

Bold Popper (POST 5) at 15-1 from the Lopez Jacinto barn with German Terraza is a mid-field longshot. Pass.

Betting Strategy and Wagering Angles

The closing race is the natural home of last-race value plays and vertical exotics. The play is to key Candyman Andy (POST 6) and Lowells Legacy (POST 4) in exactas, with Everynowandthen (POST 7), Cleatus (POST 1), and Watch And Wager (POST 10) underneath in trifecta structures. The Cleatus (POST 1) rail angle at 12-1 is the race's best surprise ticket — a $2 trifecta using 4/6 on top with 1 in third could return $400+ if the Keiser or Fletcher horse wins and the longshot finds the inside path.

Selections

Win: Candyman Andy (POST 6) Place: Lowells Legacy (POST 4) Show: Everynowandthen (POST 7)

Jockey Notes and Insights

Luis Alberto Batista is among the most active and effective pilots at Thistledown's fall meet. He has mounts in five of the eight races today — aboard Harbour Bridge (POST 1) in Race 1, Fourdatesforhoco (POST 7) in Race 2, Tulsi (POST 8) in Race 4, Estoico (POST 2) in Race 5, and Miss Elecktra (POST 5) in Race 7. The volume of quality mounts suggests stables are seeking Batista's services specifically, and his presence on Tulsi (POST 8) at 1-1 in Race 4 and Miss Elecktra (POST 5) at 2-1 in Race 7 makes those two horses essential considerations regardless of price.

Fernando Salazar Becerra is also having a strong fall meet and has mounts throughout the card: Stacy Ellen (POST 1) in Race 3, Pipsy Chick (POST 3) in Race 4, Bukele (POST 1) in Race 5, Divine Silence (POST 7) in Race 6, and Watch And Wager (POST 10) in Race 8. Salazar Becerra's strength is his understanding of the Thistledown oval and his ability to save ground on the rail. His mount on Bukele (POST 1) from the one hole in Race 5 at 3-1 is potentially the card's best value ride.

Erik Barbaran has an extremely heavy book today: Kinderhook (POST 6) in Race 2, Truest Air (POST 3) in Race 3, Moonlighter (POST 4) in Race 5, Pleasure Pearl (POST 1) in Race 6, Gray Perfection (POST 2) in Race 7, and Spring River (POST 9) in Race 8. His mount on Pleasure Pearl (POST 1) from the rail in Race 6 is a prime play given the structural advantage, and Gray Perfection (POST 2) in the feature is his marquee ride of the afternoon.

Gerardo Corrales rides for the Justin Radosevich barn repeatedly today — First Kiss Ever (POST 6) in Race 3, Quick Ship (POST 6) in Race 5, Bonita Dominica (POST 2) in Race 6, Tipsy Tulip (POST 1) in Race 7, and Lowells Legacy (POST 4) in Race 8. The Radosevich-Corrales combination is a live angle throughout the card, and bettors should note when this barn-jockey team is represented at favorable odds.

Jose A. Bracho has mounts on Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) in Race 4, Leftitforyou (POST 3) in Race 5, All That Sass (POST 9) in Race 3, Almost Drilled (POST 8) in Race 6, She's Willie Fast (POST 3) in Race 7, and River Captain (POST 3) in Race 8. The Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) ride from the rail at 4-1 in Race 4 is his most compelling opportunity.

Chelsey Keiser is the family stable jockey in Race 8 with Candyman Andy (POST 6), which is her primary mount of consequence. She also rides Knock Wood (POST 2) in Race 2 and Killa Creed (POST 7) in Race 5. The trainer-jockey family angle on Candyman Andy (POST 6) in the finale is worth premium attention.

Trainer Notes and Insights

Justin Radosevich is the most active trainer on today's card, entering horses in Races 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8. His strike rate at Thistledown's fall meet has been solid, particularly in allowance conditions. His top plays today are First Kiss Ever (POST 6) in Race 3 at 2-1 and Quick Ship (POST 6) in Race 5 at 2-1. When this barn is at 2-1 or lower, the record demands attention.

Jeff Radosevich, the other half of the Radosevich training tandem, enters Reckless L J (POST 5) in Race 2 and the coupled entry of Almost Drilled (POST 8) and Chick With A Drill (POST 9) in Race 6. The elder Radosevich has been similarly productive, and Reckless L J (POST 5) at 2-1 in Race 2 is the barn's prime morning ticket.

Richard Zielinski runs four horses today across multiple races — Stacy Ellen (POST 1) and Lizzy's Dream (POST 8) in Race 3, Leftitforyou (POST 3) in Race 5, Electric Eden (POST 6) in Race 7, and Watch And Wager (POST 10) in Race 8. The volume of entries signals an active barn. Lizzy's Dream (POST 8) in Race 3 at 5-1 and Electric Eden (POST 6) in Race 7 at 5-1 are the barn's best plays today.

Craig Sweeting enters Harbour Bridge (POST 1) in Race 1 at 2-1 and Fourdatesforhoco (POST 7) in Race 2 at 3-1. Sweeting has been a consistent performer at Thistledown and the Batista-Sweeting combination has been especially productive. Both horses are legitimate win candidates.

Jason DaCosta fields Tulsi (POST 8) in Race 4 at 1-1 and Miss Elecktra (POST 5) in Race 7 at 2-1. Running a heavy favorite and a co-favorite in the same card's two most prominent maiden and allowance events suggests DaCosta is bringing his sharpest horses today.

Mike Rone fields Truest Air (POST 3) in Race 3 and Gray Perfection (POST 2) in Race 7. The feature runner Gray Perfection (POST 2) at 2-1 with Barbaran is the barn's marquee play.

Johanna Urieta runs horses in Races 1, 3, and 6, including the morning-line favorite Coastertothemoon (POST 4) in Race 1 at 1-1. The Urieta barn has shown consistency at Thistledown, and the favored runner in Race 1 leads the barn's card.

Lorenzo Juarez trains a coupled entry in Race 2 with Hidden Ransom (POST 1) and Watchoutforweaver (POST 3). Running a two-horse entry in a seven-horse sprint field signals genuine confidence in the barn's chances, and Hidden Ransom (POST 1) from the inside post figures to be the primary runner.

Deborah Keiser trains the Race 8 morning-line favorite Candyman Andy (POST 6) with family jockey Chelsey Keiser. This trainer-jockey family combination in the finale is one of the card's most compelling angles, and this horse should be respected at any price.

Best Wagering Strategies and Value Plays

The card today at Thistledown is structured in a way that rewards players who can sequence horizontals effectively. Below are the recommended strategies for maximizing return.

Single-Race Value Plays: The three best win bets on today's card are Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) at 4-1 in Race 4, Tipsy Tulip (POST 1) in Race 7 at 4-1, and Bukele (POST 1) in Race 5 at 3-1. All three have rail-post advantages on a fast track, all three are priced against more heavily favored horses, and all three represent structural overlays. The inside-post advantage at Thistledown on a fast day is persistently undervalued in the betting market.

The best longshot value play of the card is Oak Mirna (POST 4) at 8-1 in Race 6. Luis Alberto Batista taking a maiden claiming mount at 8-1 warrants serious attention — he has other mounts at much shorter prices today and does not ride long prices without reason.

Pick 3 Structures: The best Pick 3 on the card is the sequence covering Races 6-7-8. Use Pleasure Pearl (POST 1) and Divine Silence (POST 7) in Race 6, single Gray Perfection (POST 2) in the Race 7 feature, and spread to Candyman Andy (POST 6), Lowells Legacy (POST 4), and Everynowandthen (POST 7) in Race 8. A 2x1x3 structure costs $6 for a $1 base and targets the feature as the key race.

Alternately, the Races 4-5-6 Pick 3 is also playable: Use Tulsi (POST 8) and Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) in Race 4, Quick Ship (POST 6) and Bukele (POST 1) in Race 5, and Pleasure Pearl (POST 1) and Divine Silence (POST 7) in Race 6. A 2x2x2 structure costs $8 for $1 base tickets and covers the most realistic scenarios in each leg.

Pick 4 and Pick 5 Sequences: If a Pick 5 is available beginning in Race 4, the recommended horses are:

Race 4: Tulsi (POST 8), Dream Girl Paige (POST 1) Race 5: Quick Ship (POST 6), Bukele (POST 1) Race 6: Pleasure Pearl (POST 1), Divine Silence (POST 7) Race 7: Gray Perfection (POST 2), Miss Elecktra (POST 5) Race 8: Candyman Andy (POST 6), Lowells Legacy (POST 4)

A 2x2x2x2x2 Pick 5 at the $0.50 base unit costs $16 and covers 32 combinations. If Thistledown offers a mandatory payout or carryover in the Pick 5, this is the primary investment for the afternoon.

Exotic Architecture in Race 3: Race 3's ten-horse field offers the best trifecta opportunity on the card. A part-wheel of First Kiss Ever (POST 6) over Rivers Angel (POST 7) and Lizzy's Dream (POST 8) over all others costs $16 for $1 tickets and could return several hundred dollars if the top two fill and an outsider runs third.

Exacta Best Bets: The most attractive exacta on the card is Reckless L J (POST 5) over Fourdatesforhoco (POST 7) in Race 2, which aligns the morning-line favorite with the second choice at 3-1, both from active and capable barns. The return on this combination at current morning-line odds should be in the $10-14 range for a $2 ticket — reasonable but not extraordinary. The upside is the exacta reverse: Fourdatesforhoco (POST 7) over Reckless L J (POST 5) pays at a slightly higher rate if Sweeting's horse beats the chalk.

Daily Double Plays: The closing daily double combining Races 7 and 8 is an excellent investment. Single Gray Perfection (POST 2) in Race 7 and spread to Candyman Andy (POST 6), Lowells Legacy (POST 4), and Everynowandthen (POST 7) in Race 8. A 1×3 combination at $2 costs $6 and targets a manageable closing sequence.
