Delta Downs is scheduled for a dirt-only card. Expect the main track to favor horses with tactical speed—front-runners and prominent stalkers—particularly in sprint races, with inside-to-middle posts generally offering the most efficient trip when the surface is fast and fairly maintained. Closers will need a genuine pace collapse rather than relying solely on late-running ability.

Handicapper’s Edge

Give extra weight to runners capable of securing position early without needing to be hustled, while downgrading deep closers in compact sprint fields. Reassess the bias after the first few races: if the inside becomes noticeably dull or tiring, shift toward outside-drawn stalkers and horses making one sustained move.
