Woodbine Reschedules Thursday Card
Woodbine Entertainment has received approval from the Alcohol Gaming Commission of Ontario to move Thursday’s live race card to Monday, October 13. The rescheduling affects the originally planned October 9 racing program at the Toronto-area track.
Keeneland Fall Meet Continues
The prestigious Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky continues its popular fall meet with a full 10-race card scheduled for Thursday. The program features three turf races, with Race 6 drawing particular attention as an allowance event over five and a half furlongs on the turf.
This allowance race carries a special condition, restricting entry to horses that have not won a graded stakes on the turf. The field includes several promising runners, with morning line favorites positioned at posts one and eight. Litigation, trained by Brian Lynch for Stone Farm, enters the race with an impressive three-for-five career record and has shown excellent form since returning from a freshening period.
Racing analysts expect a moderate pace in the turf sprint, noting that the field lacks overwhelming early speed that typically characterizes such races. Daily coverage from Keeneland includes the “Today at Keeneland” preview show, which streams at 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time and is hosted by Scott Hazelton and Gabby Gaudet, Keeneland’s new director of communications.
Thoroughbred Makeover Competition Underway
The first day of competition has concluded at the Thoroughbred Makeover, with competitors now preparing for Saturday’s Championships. In a new format for 2025, the top ten horses in each discipline will advance to the Championships and compete on blank slate scores, creating fresh opportunities for all qualified entries.
Television and Streaming Coverage
Horse racing fans have multiple viewing options throughout the week. FanDuel TV continues its comprehensive coverage package, broadcasting every race from Keeneland along with action from Santa Anita Park, Gulfstream Park, and Woodbine. NYRA’s “America’s Day at the Races” has launched a four-day programming stretch running through Sunday, October 12, covering racing from Belmont at the Big A and featuring Maryland Million Day highlights on Saturday.
Weekend Stakes Action
Looking ahead to the weekend, Keeneland’s Saturday card will be headlined by the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes Presented by Dixiana for 3-year-old fillies, with a scheduled post time of 5:16 p.m. Eastern. Other significant stakes races this weekend include the Sycamore Stakes on Friday evening, the Glen Cove Stakes on Saturday, and the Franklin Stakes on Sunday afternoon.
