Requires 30 or more days since the last race and at least one of the five most recent workout rank values equal to 1, meaning the horse worked faster than every other horse at that distance on that day. A bullet workout is not random — it requires the trainer to push the horse through a demanding session and for the horse to respond at an elite level. When this happens specifically before a race off a layoff, it is a strong statement of intent that the horse is ready and the trainer is targeting today's race deliberately.
