RISE AFTER POOR FINISH

Fires when today's claiming price is more than 25% above the most recent claiming price and the last finish was 3rd or worse. Normally, a class drop follows a poor performance. When a horse rises in class after failing, it suggests either a misread of the horse's form by connections, a deliberately ambitious placement, or possibly that the prior poor performance was not representative. In any case, the combination of recent underperformance and a step up in class is a discouraging angle.
