Turf Paradise in Phoenix, Arizona offers an eight-race card on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, with first post at 1:15 PM MST. The program features a mix of maiden claiming, maiden special weight, claiming, starter optional claiming, and allowance optional claiming races on both dirt and turf. Races 4 and 7 are run on the turf course at one mile, while the remaining races are on the main dirt track.

Key scratches influence several events. In Race 4, Kinky Moon (2) is scratched by the veterinarian, trimming the field to eight. In Race 6, Cloud Blitz (6) is scratched, slightly reducing a large claiming field. In Race 8, the scratches of Brown Town (3) (also-eligible) and Classic Cinema (4) (stewards) remove the original heavy favorite and reshape the race's competitiveness.

Weather and Track Conditions

Forecasts for Phoenix on March 3, 2026, call for mostly sunny, very warm conditions, with a high near 87 degrees Fahrenheit and a low around 59, and essentially no chance of precipitation. Recent days have been dry and hot, with no measurable rain leading into today. As a result, the main track is expected to play Fast and the turf course Firm, consistent with typical winter-spring conditions at Turf Paradise. The turf rail is set at 14 feet for both grass races, which can slightly favor inside and mid-pack runners able to save ground before launching a run.

Track Bias and Post Position Overview

Historical data for the 2025–2026 Turf Paradise meet shows a clear preference for early speed in dirt sprints and more balanced or closer-favoring profiles in routes, especially on turf.

On the dirt:

  • At 5–5.5 furlongs, wire-to-wire winners account for roughly 46% of all races, and “E” (early) running styles perform best. Outside posts tend to do slightly better in these short sprints.
  • At 6 furlongs, about 39% of winners have gone wire-to-wire over 79 races this meet, again emphasizing the advantage of forward placement.
  • In one-mile dirt routes, results are more evenly distributed across running styles, with a slight edge to horses that secure forward position without engaging in extreme pace battles. Post 2 has been modestly best, but no post is overwhelmingly dominant.

On the turf:

  • Turf routes at one mile show a strong tendency for stalkers and closers, with only about 14% of races won wire-to-wire.
  • Inside posts, particularly 1 and 2, collectively account for close to 39% of turf winners, making post position a key factor in Races 4 and 7.

Overall, favorites at Turf Paradise win just under 40% of the time, but lower-level claimers tend to be more chaotic, offering more opportunity for upsets than the higher-class allowance and optional claiming races.

Race 1 – Maiden Claiming, 1 Mile Dirt (Fillies 3YO)

This five-filly maiden claimer at one mile on dirt brings a blend of lightly raced and moderately seasoned maidens.

Train Station (5) has become a consensus key filly, bringing a 0-1-2 record from seven starts and recent good form at Turf Paradise. She is projected as a stalking type with enough tactical speed to sit just off the early leader, and she gets leading rider Manuel Americano.

Danzing Mist (3), a morning-line favorite, has the strongest earnings profile with multiple placings from eight starts and a preferred off-the-pace running style. Her experience and previous minor awards make her a primary contender despite a tendency to settle for minor shares.

Chica Tigre (2) offers solid route experience, with recent competitive efforts at one mile on this surface and a profile as a mid-pack type who can grind into the stretch. Scarlett Letter (1) benefits from the powerful Wade Rarick barn and has prior mile experience, positioning her as a logical secondary player.

Long Range Pursuit (4), despite a short morning-line price, is viewed as a vulnerable favorite after a pair of poor efforts on turf and inconsistent form moving back to dirt.

Race 2 – Allowance Optional Claiming, 1 Mile Dirt

A compact but deep field of five older geldings lines up here, all with meaningful back class and earnings.

Coastal Kid (5) is a core contender, exiting a recent win at this course and distance and carrying solid overall form and class for the Jose Silva Jr. barn. His stalking/closing style can be effective if the front end does any real work early.

Lansdowne (1) is a high-earning veteran with significant local experience, and projects as the primary pace presence from the rail, able to secure a ground-saving trip going a mile. His versatility and trainer Isaiah Ortiz's strong statistics make him a primary player.

Arma D'oro (4) brings a strong closing style and is supported by the Wade Rarick–Orlando Mojica combination, which has been very potent at the meet. Moneyshot (2) has put together multiple recent runner-up finishes and fits well on class, but has shown a tendency to finish second more often than winning.

Seventeen Black (3) has solid career numbers but enters off modest recent efforts and projects more as a secondary or longshot type in a small but salty field.

Race 3 – Claiming, 6 Furlongs Dirt (NW3)

This six-furlong claimer for horses who have never won three races is one of the better-defined pace contests on the card, with multiple forward types.

Chasing Rain (4) is a central contender, having already proven effective at this trip and surface and exiting a strong local win and a good follow-up effort. The Robertino Diodoro–Orlando Mojica team is among the most productive combinations on the grounds, giving this gelding a strong profile.

Honor The Cat (5) has also been in sharp recent form, with a win at the distance and a prior second to Chasing Rain (4), showing that he fits at this level and course. Kangaroo Coast (6) projects as another key player, with a recent win at the distance and a suitable running style that can adapt to a fast early pace.

Caution Cardinal (3) offers front-running ability that matches the track's sprint bias but comes from a barn with modest win percentages, making him more of a secondary or pace-influencing type. Hot Goblin (1) is a recent winner who would benefit from any pace collapse but will need improvement to repeat against this deeper group.

Race 4 – Claiming, 1 Mile Turf (Fillies and Mares NW2)

With Kinky Moon (2) scratched, eight fillies and mares remain for this mile turf event, where the course profile heavily favors late runners and inside posts.

Mrazek's Old Dream (7) is a key horse, shipping in from Santa Anita with good dirt-route form and now trying turf for the high-percentage Diodoro–Mojica team. Her overall ability and connections make her a central factor despite the surface change.

Caitlin Fever (8) has some of the best local turf credentials, with multiple recent strong efforts at one mile and 7.5 furlongs on the Turf Paradise grass, and a clear late-running style ideal for this configuration. Coconut Dreams (5) brings a last-out turf win at this distance and looks like a reliable, consistent type for Frank Lucarelli.

Lady Lithesome (6) ships from tougher Southern California races and drops into a more manageable spot, giving her appeal as a secondary but dangerous player. More Trouble (1), a three-year-old facing older, owns a recent dirt-route win and gets weight and an advantageous inside post; she is a logical price horse with upside if she handles the turf.

Not A Word (9) appears to be one of the main potential pace elements from the outside, but on a closer-favoring course, she likely projects more as a pace influence and outside exotic candidate.

Race 5 – Maiden Special Weight, 5.5 Furlongs Dirt (Fillies 3YO)

This maiden special weight sprint for three-year-old fillies includes several interesting first-time starters and one standout filly with established form.

Right And Tight (6) is the most accomplished runner, with multiple placings and a recent second at this distance at Turf Paradise. Her combination of experience and speed makes her a natural key filly on class alone.

Girl At Home (1), a debutante from the high-percentage Debbie Peery barn with Kevin Krigger aboard, is a major first-out threat given the trainer's strong stats and positive chatter from handicappers. Secret Vintage (3) is another first-time starter drawing support based on the presence of Manuel Americano and the Bourdieu barn, both of which hint at readiness.

Bakken It Up (7) exits a strong debut third in a big field at this distance and track and is considered an attractive price filly with upside improvement in just her second start. Voices Of Autism (2) and others remain more speculative but can be part of the early pace mix in a race where experience and connections may separate the top tier from the rest.

Race 6 – Claiming, 1 Mile Dirt ($4,000 Starter Conditions)

This large-field mile dirt claimer is restricted to horses that have struggled to win during the meet and is expected to be one of the most unpredictable races on the card.

Sarge's Sermon (8) stands out as a strong mid-pack or stalking type with substantial career earnings and a running style that should benefit from what is projected to be a busy early pace scenario. Benny Buckets (7), for the Rarick barn, has credible recent turf-route form and brings powerful trainer statistics that elevate his profile among a group of inconsistent types.

Winsitwell (10) is an appealing closer with a profile that syncs nicely with expectations of pace pressure and a form pattern that suggests he is capable of hitting the board and possibly more with the right setup. Wine And Whisky (5), a well-traveled and high-earning veteran, gets in light on weight and can be a factor if able to find anything near his better back races.

Other runners such as Ruler Of Angels (1), Harbor Thunder (2), Naval Escort (3), Moesahandful (4), Anna's Iron Man (9), Mashhad Flats (11), and Orth (12) form a deep cast where small improvements or favorable trips could lead to big surprises.

Race 7 – Allowance Optional Claiming, 1 Mile Turf (Feature)

The feature event is a high-quality one-mile turf allowance optional claiming race, drawing a deep group of seasoned turf performers.

Silent Runner (3) is a major contender, entering off back-to-back turf wins at Turf Paradise at 7.5 furlongs and one mile, and carrying very high career earnings and consistency for the Jose Silva Jr. barn. His mid-pack style fits the course bias perfectly.

Kennebec (6), also from Jose Silva Jr., owns an exceptional career win percentage and has recently won at one mile on the local turf, profiling as the strongest closer in the group and a natural fit for this course's late-running preference. Stamp My Passport (5), the morning-line favorite, ships in with strong Southern California turf form at longer distances and figures as a high-class pace or pressing type.

Saline River (7) brings a high win percentage, solid local turf form, and the Diodoro barn, making him a primary secondary choice who should be involved throughout. Benandonner (8), a lightly raced, high-win-percentage colt trained by Wade Rarick, steps into deeper waters but has shown enough talent to be taken very seriously.

Zoffarelli (2), an older gelding with the highest earnings in the field and proven local turf success, offers strong appeal at likely fair odds, while Lloyds Logic (4) is an interesting new face with sharp connections in Mojica and Rarick. Eye On Ry (1) from the rail is more of an outsider on paper but benefits from inside positioning on a course where ground-saving trips matter.

Race 8 – Starter Optional Claiming, 5.5 Furlongs Dirt

The finale is a 5.5-furlong starter optional claiming sprint on dirt, dramatically altered by the stewards' scratch of Classic Cinema (4), who had dominated similar fields and was the original heavy favorite.

Immelmann (5) now emerges as one of the central runners, boasting the highest remaining career earnings and a strong front-running or pressing profile suitable for this distance and surface. Always On Cay (7) has sharp recent sprint form at Turf Paradise, with a win and a second at similar trips, and figures prominently in the early pace picture while still finishing strongly.

Biyombo (8) is a consistent in-the-money type whose stalking style could pay dividends if the primary speed horses engage one another early. Blazing Peme (6), exiting a shorter sprint win, brings strong win percentages and could be an emerging force at this slightly longer distance.

Bertacchi (1), at longer morning-line odds, owns a respectable win rate and recent good efforts and may be the best under-the-radar type to take advantage of the reshuffled field dynamics created by the scratch of Classic Cinema (4).
