Finger Lakes hosts jockey foot race on Labor Day (September 1, 2025).

Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack is hosting a jockey foot race on Labor Day (September 1, 2025) that will benefit the PDJF (Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund). This special event is being positioned as the Labor Day headliner at the track. The jockey foot race represents a fun and charitable twist on the traditional racing format, allowing fans to see the jockeys who normally ride the horses compete in a different athletic challenge while supporting a worthy cause that helps permanently disabled members of the jockey community.

The jockey foot race will be accompanied by the $50,000 Arctic Queen Stakes, featuring a field of 10 New York-bred fillies and mares. This pairing creates an exciting day of both traditional horse racing and the unique spectacle of jockeys competing on foot.

Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack, located in Farmington, New York, has a long history dating back to 1962 and has hosted many notable jockeys throughout its existence, including Hall of Fame riders like Angel Cordero, Pat Day, Julie Krone, and Bill Shoemaker. The track’s 450-acre property currently houses over 1,200 race horses and maintains both a one-mile main racing track and a half-mile training track.
