Pick Pony Handicapper Report — Presque Isle Downs | June 3, 2026
Mild early-June conditions expected at Erie; monitor track surface at post time as overnight moisture could shift the main dirt from fast to good or sloppy. Presque Isle rewards early speed and inside posts in sprints — posts one through four carry a meaningful bias edge all afternoon. The lone route in Race 5 softens that bias; pace scenario analysis drives those selections.
Race 1
Top contender MISS M M (6) gets a live barn spot and figures to be forwardly placed throughout. FLOAT AWAY (4) from a favorable middle post and QUEEN ANNA T (3) with a top rider are the main threats. DIOSA CATRINA (2) at 8-1 from a clean inside draw is the best price play in the opener.
Race 2
HIGHTAIL FOX (5) is the morning line choice and the field's central figure, but the better value is ALABAMA SLEEPER (6) at 5-1 with a leading jockey-trainer pairing that wins at this level. LEO Q (4) from an ideal post is the logical show contender. The dual Kevin Rice entries ALEXANDER K (1) and VIOLIN FINGERS (2) at 10-1 each are deep exotics only.
Race 3
BINDI (1) combines the best post on the track, the top rider, and a capable barn in a short five-horse field — the most complete situational play of the first half of the card. BOUJIE BETZ (4) is a co-favorite from a productive stable and must be respected as the primary danger. MOONSCAPE (3) at 4-1 is the stalker to include in all exotic structures, and OKLAHOMA SMOKE (5) at 8-1 is a trifecta filler if the pace collapses.
Race 4
FLY IN THE MYSTIC (2) gets the ideal two-post for a likely pace-controlling type in the card's richest race and is the straightforward top selection. WARRIOR'S MISSION (6) with a top rider is the main threat, and MR. IMPATIENT (3) and SEALAND (5) are legitimate stalker types at 4-1 each. DOUBLE UP LARRY (4) at 8-1 is the card's best overlay — a leading jockey for an effective placing trainer from the perfect four-post makes this the strongest single longshot bet of the afternoon.
Race 5
VAN (1) benefits from the inside post and a top rider at the mile distance and is the logical win single. SECRETARY OF WAR (5) with the colony's top jockey for an active barn is the afternoon's most compelling route overlay at 4-1. BURNIN TURF (4) is a clean show play, and stablemate COX CANYON (3) at 8-1 could benefit from a soft lead if left alone early.
Race 6
NEOPRENE (1) from the rail is the single most post-bias-favored play on the entire card in a six-horse filly sprint — needs only a clean break to control. MARY KATHERINE (5) with the top rider stalking from mid-field is the top exacta partner and offers legitimate win value at 3-1. AIR ONE (6) has the form to contend but must overcome the outside post.
Race 7
ON TAP (1) is the card's most straightforward single — inside rail, top stable, leading rider, and morning line favoritism all converge in a seven-horse sprint. SHY DA RUNNER (7) and MR. BONES (2) are the primary dangers, with MR. BONES (2) well-positioned to draft and pounce from the two-post. KOTYLOS (3) at 8-1 for an effective placing trainer is worth including in trifectas.
Race 8
DRUNKLE (3) from the ideal three-hole with a top rider over the morning line favorite is the finale's best value play. CHUBS ROCKET (7) carries genuine barn confidence despite the outside seven-post, and both Russell entries — THIS LAUGHS ON YOU (1) from the rail and TIZ BIG MONEY (2) from the two-post with the top jockey — demand inclusion in all exotic structures. Watch post-time odds on the Russell pair for barn money signals.
