Track Surface & Bias

The dirt track (D) at Lone Star Park typically plays fair to mildly speed-favoring, especially in the sprint distances, with forwardly placed runners and pace-pressing stalkers holding a consistent edge when the surface is dry and maintained fast. Inside to middle posts (posts 1–6) are often advantageous in sprints, while route races can see a more even distribution, with tactical speed from middle posts performing well historically. When temperatures are warm and the surface retains moisture from recent weather, the track can become a bit tighter, further helping front-runners and pace pressers to carry their speed.

The turf course (T) at Lone Star Park is generally kind to stalkers and mid-pack runners, especially at route distances where a controlled early pace is common.
