BELMONT AT THE BIG A — RACE DAY OVERVIEW

Saturday, June 27, 2026

Today marks one of the final chapters in New York racing's historic transition period. Aqueduct Racetrack closed its doors after Sunday, June 29's final card, and the “Belmont at the Big A” meeting has been running at the Jamaica, Queens oval as Belmont Park undergoes its ongoing reconstruction. Today's eleven-race card represents a cross-section of the New York racing scene — from $10,000 claimers in the early going to a $150,000 turf stakes in Race 8 and a well-stocked maiden special weight to close out the card.

The headline race on today's program is Race 8, the ATC Cole B 150k, a $150,000 event at a mile and a sixteenth on the inner turf course. This is the richest event on the card and draws a quality ten-horse field. Race 9 and Race 10, both optional claiming events worth $88,000 and $90,000 respectively, round out the premium offerings on the back half of the card.

Also worth noting is the Race 2 turf maiden, which features trainer Brad Cox's Two By Two By Two (POST 7) coming in as the morning-line second choice at 2-1, and the Race 6 turf claimer, which includes Chad Brown's Brillante (POST 2) installed as the even-money favorite. The presence of Cox and Brown on this card — national-caliber trainers with top-tier horses — is itself a barometer of the quality being offered even at this transitional venue.

The card opens at 1:10 PM ET with an eleven-race program scheduled to conclude around 6:20 PM ET with the maiden special weight event.

WEATHER AND TRACK CONDITIONS

The forecast for the New York City area on Saturday, June 27 calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid-80s Fahrenheit. Humidity will be elevated, as is typical for late June in the New York area. No significant precipitation is expected during racing hours, though the region has seen scattered thunderstorms in the days leading up to the card.

The main track at Aqueduct — officially designated as “BAQ” or “Big A” for this Belmont meeting — is expected to be listed as fast. The inner turf course, which will host Races 2, 5, 6, 8, and 11, is anticipated to be in good condition given the recent dry stretch. Track maintenance crews have been managing the turf carefully in these final weeks of the meeting, and the going should be firm to good.

Any late-breaking weather changes will be reflected in the official track condition reports issued by NYRA prior to post time. Bettors should monitor for any turf course upgrades or downgrades, particularly given the five turf races on today's card.

TRACK BIAS AND POST POSITION ANALYSIS

At Aqueduct's main track, which measures one mile in circumference, inside posts are generally advantageous in routes, as horses saving ground along the rail have a significant edge. In sprints — particularly the 1,320-foot (six-furlong) and 1,430-foot events — gate speed and early position are critical, and inside posts have historically held value when the rail is not compromised. The track does tend to play slightly speed-favoring when fast, though closers have found late kick in the stretch when early fractions are honest.

On the inner turf course, the rail has been reported as live at the Big A during this meeting, making inside posts — particularly Posts 1 through 4 — valuable assets in the turf routes. The seven-furlong turf chute configuration, where applicable, can help horses break cleanly and find their natural running positions without excessive traffic.

For today's main track races, early speed will be respected, particularly in the sprint distances. Horses that can secure a clean trip from inside posts or those with the tactical ability to settle just off a contested pace will be the types to prioritize. In the turf races, rail-running stalkers and closers with enough room to maneuver will be the preferred profiles.

RACE 1 — Post (1:10) — 1320f | D | C | Clm 10000 | CUM | Purse $28,000

A six-furlong claiming event for fillies and mares at the $10,000 claiming level. This is the opener and features five starters going a one-turn sprint on the main track. The field is small but competitive at the bottom of the claiming ladder.

Race 1

Pace Analysis

With five runners, pace will be relatively easy to read. Problematica (POST 1) and Best Impression (POST 2) figure to be the primary pace-setters from the two inside gates. The question is whether either of those mares can hold their advantage into the stretch or if a presser or stalker can pick up the pieces. The pace should be honest but not suicidal, making it a race where the best horse on the day figures to prevail.

Key Contenders

Best Impression (POST 2) is the morning-line favorite at 1-1, trained by Ilkay Kantarmaci and piloted by Silvestre Gonzalez. Kantarmaci has been a consistent presence in the New York claiming ranks and handles this level well. Best Impression figures to be forwardly placed and should offer the most consistent form in the field. At even money, however, the price is thin for a race at this level with its inherent unpredictability.

Problematica (POST 1) draws the rail and gets Manuel Franco in the irons at 2-1 odds. Franco is one of the top jockeys on the NYRA circuit and his presence on a morning-line second choice in an opener is meaningful. The inside post in a five-horse sprint is a genuine asset, and if Problematica can get the early jump, she will be tough to run down.

Secondary Choices

Shezanarcticqueen (POST 5) is 4-1 on the morning line, trained by Eduardo Jones with Reylu Gutierrez aboard. From the outside post in a five-horse field, she will need to work harder to find position, but if she can save ground and apply pressure in the final turn, the price may be worth taking. Jones works regularly at this level and knows how to spot a horse for a win.

Longshots

Thelastbulletsmine (POST 4), trained by Michael Pino and ridden by Dalila Rivera, is listed at 5-1. Pino is a seasoned hand with claimers at this level, and while Rivera does not rank among the top-tier jockeys on the circuit, this horse is not without a chance if she runs back to her better efforts. Open Soul Autism (POST 3) rounds out the field for Kantarmaci, who already has the favorite, and goes with Heman Harkie. At 6-1, this is the longest price in the field and is likely a secondary stable entry consideration.

Selections

Win: Problematica (POST 1) Place: Best Impression (POST 2) Show: Shezanarcticqueen (POST 5)

Betting Strategy: The rail, Franco, and a morning-line price of 2-1 make Problematica (POST 1) the play here. Use her on top in exactas with Best Impression (POST 2) and Shezanarcticqueen (POST 5).

RACE 2 — Post (1:38) — 1870f | T | M | Md 30000 | BUM | Purse $41,000

A mile and three-sixteenths maiden claiming event on the turf for fillies and mares at the $30,000 claiming level. Seven starters will go to the gate in this grass route, which figures to draw out the differences in class and turf aptitude.

Race 2

Pace Analysis

This is a turf route maiden, and pace figures to be relatively moderate early. The inner turf course at the Big A rewards horses that can settle in good position and produce a sustained late run. Spinning Class (POST 4), the morning-line favorite, is expected to be forwardly placed. Two By Two By Two (POST 7) will likely come from off the pace. The race could set up for a late runner if the pace gets honest.

Key Contenders

Spinning Class (POST 4) at 1-1 is trained by Claude McGaughey III — one of the great horsemen in American racing history — and gets Jose Lezcano in the saddle. McGaughey doesn't run horses to lose, and the 1-1 morning line suggests this filly is well-regarded by the connections. Lezcano is a polished rider in turf routes and will give Spinning Class (POST 4) every opportunity to run a big race. Post 4 is a solid draw on the inner turf.

Two By Two By Two (POST 7) is trained by Brad Cox and ridden by Manuel Franco at 2-1. Cox is one of the top trainers in the country, and his horses at this level are typically well-prepared. At 2-1, this is a legitimate price on a horse that could easily be the best-bred and best-trained animal in the field. Franco's presence adds further confidence.

Secondary Choices

Mappy (POST 1) opens at 5-1 from the rail for trainer George Weaver with Edgard Zayas up. Weaver is an accomplished turf trainer who consistently delivers well-prepared turf runners, and the rail post is an asset on this course. At 5-1, Mappy (POST 1) represents genuine value if she can demonstrate any turf aptitude.

Longshots

Essence L Vee (POST 2) is listed at 12-1 for trainer Mark Hennig and jockey Dylan Davis. Hennig has a solid record on the grass, and while 12-1 is a long price, Davis is capable of a big ride. Dreamy Girl (POST 6) goes for trainer Jena Antonucci with Katie Davis aboard at 15-1 — Antonucci has an eye for turf horses, and at this price, a small saver is warranted. Katerina Ristova (POST 5) at 20-1 for trainer Amira Chichakly and jockey Cesar Gonzalez is a longshot who figures to need some improvement to factor. Kef (POST 3) at 30-1 for Oscar Barrera III with Luis Pena up is likely an underlay at any price and is best left off tickets.

Selections

Win: Two By Two By Two (POST 7) Place: Spinning Class (POST 4) Show: Mappy (POST 1)

Betting Strategy: Throw Two By Two By Two (POST 7) on top of exactas with Spinning Class (POST 4) and Mappy (POST 1). The trifecta of 7-4-1 offers reasonable value and the 2-1 morning line on a Cox-Franco horse in a turf maiden is a price worth taking.

RACE 3 — Post (2:06) — 1760f | D | C | Clm 25000n2l | BUN | Purse $37,000

A one-mile claiming event for horses that have not won two lifetime races, carded on the main track. The field of seven offers a range of experience and form, with morning-line co-favorites Ducky Medwick and Calling Card setting up what looks like a genuine match race.

Race 3

Pace Analysis

With two co-favorites likely to contest the early pace, fractions here could get contested. Calling Card (POST 4) for trainer Michael Maker figures to want the lead or a share of it, while Ducky Medwick (POST 3) may be content to settle slightly off the pace. If these two end up in a prolonged battle on the front end, it opens the door for a closer to pick up the pieces. The Obliterator (POST 6) and Antietam (POST 2) are the types who could benefit from a hotly contested pace scenario.

Key Contenders

Ducky Medwick (POST 3) is co-favored at 2-1, trained by Chad Summers and ridden by Dylan Davis. Summers has a solid record at this level and Davis is riding confidently this meet. Post 3 is a clean draw, and if Ducky Medwick (POST 3) can settle in a forward stalking position, he could have the measure of this field.

Calling Card (POST 4) is the other 2-1 morning-line choice, out of Michael Maker's barn with Manuel Franco in the saddle. Maker is a top-tier trainer whose horses at this level are always competitive, and Franco's record in New York races of this type is excellent. Post 4 is workable, and if this horse runs to form, it will be a two-horse battle.

Secondary Choices

Antietam (POST 2) at 4-1 for trainer Linda Rice and jockey Jose Lezcano is a capable secondary choice. Rice has a long history of success at NYRA meets, and Lezcano is a legitimate top-three rider who can deliver from the stalker position. If the front end gets soft, Antietam (POST 2) could get first run on the leaders. The Obliterator (POST 6) at 4-1 for trainer Thomas Morley with Edgard Zayas is another live option at the same price. Zayas is one of the better jockeys in the colony and Morley has had some quiet winners at this level this meet.

Longshots

Whitby (POST 7) at 8-1 is Mark Hennig's second entrant on the card, going with Jamie Rodriguez from the outside post. At 8-1, there is some appeal if he shows up ready. Raging Sea Captain (POST 1) at 12-1 for Rudy Rodriguez with Ruben Silvera up will need significant improvement to threaten from the rail. Lucky Dragon (POST 5) at 20-1 for trainer Michael Miceli with Reylu Gutierrez is likely overmatched and is best used only in large-field exotics.

Selections

Win: Calling Card (POST 4) Place: Antietam (POST 2) Show: Ducky Medwick (POST 3)

Betting Strategy: With co-favorites at the same price, the key is finding the one with the better trip scenario. Calling Card (POST 4) with Maker and Franco is slightly preferred. Exactas and trifectas using Calling Card (POST 4) on top with Antietam (POST 2) and Ducky Medwick (POST 3) underneath are the primary plays.

RACE 4 — Post (2:36) — 1430f | D | C | Clm 10000 | CUN | Purse $28,000

A six-and-a-half-furlong claiming sprint for non-winners, carded on the main track. Eight starters go postward in this modest-level sprint, and the large field makes pace analysis critical.

Race 4

Pace Analysis

Eight horses going six and a half furlongs on the dirt means there will be multiple speed horses vying for position out of the gate. Classic Cut (POST 1), Spirit Dragon (POST 3), and potentially Dot's Dollar (POST 8) all project as early speed types. If the pace gets contested from multiple angles, the rail — which has been advantageous at the Big A this meet — could become a significant factor. A front-running type that gets a clean trip from an inside post will have a genuine edge.

Key Contenders

Dot's Dollar (POST 8) is the morning-line favorite at 2-1, trained by Ilkay Kantarmaci and ridden by Manuel Franco. Kantarmaci already has Classic Cut (POST 1) in this race, and the stable entry angle is something to monitor. Franco on Dot's Dollar (POST 8) from the outside post is interesting — if Franco takes back early and finds a clean trip, this horse could be sitting on a big late run. The trainer is clearly pointing Dot's Dollar (POST 8) as the primary stable chance.

Classic Cut (POST 1) at 3-1 is the other Kantarmaci runner, going with Silvestre Gonzalez from the inside. The rail in a six-and-a-half-furlong sprint is an asset if this horse can clear. At 3-1, Gonzalez has the tactical options that come with the rail draw.

Secondary Choices

He's Got This (POST 2) at 4-1 for trainer Chris Englehart and jockey Jose Lezcano is a solid secondary choice. Englehart is a winning trainer at this venue and Lezcano provides a significant class boost in the irons. Post 2 is a fine draw. Spirit Dragon (POST 3) at 5-1 for Antonio Arriaga with Ruben Silvera is another potential pace factor who could carve out an uncontested lead if the other speed types get into early battles.

Longshots

Glint (POST 4) at 8-1 for Amira Chichakly and Favinho Villa Pino could be a minor threat from a stalking position. Sin Nombre (POST 7) at 10-1 for Jesus Romero with Katie Davis goes from a slightly outside post and needs improvement. Graywing (POST 5) at 12-1 for Eduardo Jones and Reylu Gutierrez is a longer shot with some tactical versatility. Neuschwanstein (POST 6) at 20-1 for Jesus Romero and Omar Hernandez Moreno is at the bottom of the price range and needs a big step forward.

Selections

Win: Dot's Dollar (POST 8) Place: He's Got This (POST 2) Show: Classic Cut (POST 1)

Betting Strategy: In a wide-open eight-horse sprint at this level, the stable entry angle works in Kantarmaci's favor. Dot's Dollar (POST 8) with Franco is the key horse. Use Dot's Dollar (POST 8) on top of exactas with He's Got This (POST 2) and Classic Cut (POST 1). A small trifecta box of those three is also recommended.

RACE 5 — Post (3:07) — 1320f | t | C | Clm 40000n2l | BUN | Purse $48,000

A six-furlong inner turf sprint for non-winners of two lifetime, carded at the $40,000 claiming level. Nine starters populate this field, and with co-favorites After Taxes and Toga D'Oro at 1-1, the betting interest will be intense.

Race 5

Pace Analysis

Six furlongs on the inner turf at the Big A is a short, sharp test. Early position is critical, as the turf sprint tends to reward horses that can find a clean spot close to the pace without getting caught up in early traffic. After Taxes (POST 8) and Archimedes (POST 2) both figure to be forwardly placed types. Hong Kong Phooey (POST 1) from the inside could carve out an uncontested lead if allowed to roll. The pace should be quick enough to test the closers but not necessarily fast enough to set them up perfectly.

Key Contenders

After Taxes (POST 8) is co-favored at 1-1, trained by Wesley Ward and ridden by Dylan Davis. Ward is arguably the premier turf sprint trainer in North America — his record in short grass races is unparalleled — and when he sends a horse out at 1-1 in a $40,000 turf sprint, the betting public is right to make it a favorite. Davis is a capable partner who can handle turf sprint tactics well.

Toga D'oro (POST 9) is the other co-favorite at 1-1, also trained by Richard Dutrow and listed with a TBA rider. The rider assignment is the primary concern here — a TBA mount in a co-favorite spot creates uncertainty, and the final jockey will need to be monitored closely before post time. Dutrow's record at this circuit is well-documented, and Toga D'oro (POST 9) clearly has been pointed for this spot.

Secondary Choices

Archimedes (POST 2) at 4-1 is trained by Michael Maker and ridden by Kendrick Carmouche. Maker's barn is sharp and Carmouche is a strong tactical rider in grass sprints. The inside post draw is an asset in this configuration. Swaging (POST 7) at 4-1 for Linda Rice and Jose Lezcano is another well-regarded runner from a formidable barn, and at the same price as Archimedes (POST 2), this one deserves inclusion in exotics.

Longshots

Middle Market (POST 5) at 6-1 for Marcelo Arenas and Jamie Rodriguez offers some value. Sports Hero (POST 4) at 8-1 for James Ryerson and Ruben Silvera is worth including in wide exotics. Slay Sadie Slay (POST 6) at 12-1 is the second Dutrow runner, going with Manuel Franco — interesting that Dutrow puts Franco on the 12-1 horse rather than the co-favorite, which underscores the TBA situation on Toga D'oro (POST 9). Hong Kong Phooey (POST 1) at 15-1 for Rudy Rodriguez and Edgard Zayas could steal a purse share from the front if the pace unfolds kindly. Solomini's World (POST 3) at 20-1 for Antonio Arriaga and Silvestre Gonzalez is at the bottom of the field and needs a significant improvement.

Selections

Win: After Taxes (POST 8) Place: Archimedes (POST 2) Show: Swaging (POST 7)

Betting Strategy: Wesley Ward at 1-1 in a turf sprint is the play. After Taxes (POST 8) is the key horse. The TBA situation on co-favorite Toga D'oro (POST 9) is a red flag — if the eventual rider is a lesser jockey, the price on After Taxes (POST 8) may drift slightly and create better value. Use After Taxes (POST 8) on top in exactas with Archimedes (POST 2), Swaging (POST 7), and Middle Market (POST 5).

RACE 6 — Post (3:39) — 1870f | T | C | Clm 55000n2l | BUM | Purse $57,000

A mile and three-sixteenths turf claiming event for non-winners of two lifetime at the $55,000 level. Nine starters take on this turf route, and the presence of Chad Brown's Brillante (POST 2) at even money is the story of the race.

Race 6

Pace Analysis

At this distance on the inner turf, pace tends to be moderate early with the race intensifying after the half-mile mark. Brillante (POST 2) figures to be forwardly placed, as Brown's grass horses typically run prominently. Starlight Dancer (POST 3) and Putonahappyface (POST 6) are other pace contenders. If the pace is honest, the closers — particularly Amelia's Echo (POST 8) — could have a say.

Key Contenders

Brillante (POST 2) at 1-1 is trained by Chad Brown and ridden by Manuel Franco. Brown's record on the turf at NYRA meets is legendary, and his horses at this level are typically well-spotted. The even-money price reflects genuine confidence from the connections and the broader betting market. Post 2 on the inner turf is a significant advantage. Franco riding for Brown is a powerful combination. This is the horse to beat.

Starlight Dancer (POST 3) at 2-1 is trained by Michelle Nevin and ridden by Kendrick Carmouche. Nevin has been in form during this meeting and Carmouche is an excellent turf rider. The 2-1 morning line is fair, and if Brillante (POST 2) is somehow vulnerable, Starlight Dancer (POST 3) is the horse most likely to expose that.

Amelia's Echo (POST 8) is listed at 2-1 as well, trained by Ilkay Kantarmaci and also slated to use Franco — however, with Franco already on Brillante (POST 2), this entry situation warrants close monitoring. If there is a jockey change on Amelia's Echo (POST 8), that could affect its morning-line price and betting action. Kantarmaci also has Karey (POST 9) at 2-1, creating a genuine stable entry situation.

Secondary Choices

On A Summer Day (POST 4) at 4-1 for John Pregman Jr. and Ruben Silvera is a capable secondary choice in a race that could see significant pace pressure. Putonahappyface (POST 6) at 5-1 for Richard Dutrow and Jose Lezcano is another runner with tactical speed who could press the pace and outlast some of the front-runners.

Longshots

Leslie's Star (POST 5) at 10-1 for Wayne Potts and Jamie Rodriguez is the longest-priced potential factor in the field. Y'allreadyforthis (POST 7) at 15-1 for Antonio Arriaga and Dalila Rivera is likely in here to fill out the field but shouldn't be completely dismissed in a trifecta if the chalk runs into trouble. Maxisure (POST 1) at 30-1 for Arriaga and Silvestre Gonzalez is the longest shot in the field and would require a complete field collapse to factor.

Selections

Win: Brillante (POST 2) Place: Starlight Dancer (POST 3) Show: On A Summer Day (POST 4)

Betting Strategy: Brillante (POST 2) is a legitimate single in multi-race wagers. The Chad Brown turf angle here is too strong to fade. If Karey (POST 9) has a confirmed jockey and is entered as a separate betting interest, the Kantarmaci stable entry adds a potential complicating factor in exactas. Exactas of 2-3, 2-4, and 2-6 cover the primary scenarios.

RACE 7 — Post (4:13) — 1320f | D | C | Clm 25000n2l | BUN | Purse $37,000

A six-furlong sprint on the main track for non-winners of two lifetime at the $25,000 claiming level. Nine starters make this a competitive sprint with several legitimate pace contenders.

Race 7

Pace Analysis

Nine horses in a six-furlong sprint at this level will produce a busy early pace. Bold Love (POST 3) and Sully (POST 9) figure to be the primary early movers, but with nine runners, there will be multiple pace scenarios. The inside rail could be a factor, and any horse that saves ground while staying close to the early pace will have a significant advantage. Horses breaking cleanly from inside posts will be set up for the best trips.

Key Contenders

Bold Love (POST 3) is the morning-line favorite at 2-1, trained by Chad Summers and ridden by Dylan Davis. Summers is in form and Davis has been riding well throughout this meeting. Post 3 is a solid draw in a nine-horse sprint, giving Bold Love (POST 3) the opportunity to find a clean early trip. If this horse's recent form translates to today's conditions, he should be competitive.

Sully (POST 9) at 3-1 is trained by Linda Rice and gets Manuel Franco from the outside post. Rice is one of the best trainers in New York and Franco is the meet's top jockey. The outside post is a disadvantage in a nine-horse sprint, but Franco's ability to find position and Rice's record of having horses ready makes Sully (POST 9) a legitimate top contender.

Secondary Choices

Salming (POST 1) at 4-1 for Fernando Abreu and Jamie Rodriguez draws the inside rail. If Salming (POST 1) can break cleanly and avoid early trouble, the rail advantage could be decisive. Abreu has shown he can train winners at this level. Mission Critical (POST 6) at 8-1 for Jeremiah Englehart and Kendrick Carmouche is another solid secondary option — Englehart is a competent trainer and Carmouche's presence is always meaningful.

Longshots

Shellac (POST 7) at 6-1 for Fernando Abreu and Ruben Silvera is the second Abreu runner, creating a stable entry dynamic. At 6-1, Shellac (POST 7) offers reasonable value if the stable intends to win with this one. Mo Spice (POST 2) at 12-1 for Rudy Rodriguez and Edgard Zayas has some early speed that could complicate matters. Constant Chaos (POST 5) at 12-1 for David Duggan and Jose Lezcano is a longer shot from an outside post but Lezcano can ride anyone into contention. Strategicoperation (POST 8) at 15-1 for Antonio Arriaga and Silvestre Gonzalez will need significant pace collapse to factor. Stayfrostymyfriend (POST 4) at 20-1 for Gregory Sacco and Katie Davis is likely here to complete the field.

Selections

Win: Sully (POST 9) Place: Bold Love (POST 3) Show: Salming (POST 1)

Betting Strategy: The Franco-Rice combination on Sully (POST 9) is compelling even from the outside post. The key is Franco's ability to find a clean trip. Exactas with Sully (POST 9) on top of Bold Love (POST 3), Salming (POST 1), and Mission Critical (POST 6) cover the likely scenarios. A trifecta of 9-3-1 at a reasonable price could offer solid returns.

RACE 8 — Post (4:45) — 1320f | t | N | ATColeB150k | BUN | Purse $150,000

The featured race of the day — a $150,000 stakes event at six furlongs on the inner turf for non-winners. Ten starters go postward in what is the most competitive and highest-quality race on the card. This is the race to focus wagering attention on, and the morning-line odds suggest a wide-open contest.

Race 8

Pace Analysis

Six furlongs on the inner turf at $150,000 means the pace will be sharp and the quality will be high. Waralo (POST 1) at 2-1 figures to be the controlling speed from the inside. Bold Journey (POST 6) and Run Curtis Run (POST 3) are other tactical types who will seek favorable positions. Dancing Buck (POST 7) from the Michelle Nevin barn may be content to work off the pace. If the early fractions get hot, closers like Sacrosanct (POST 2) and Bold Journey (POST 6) could benefit. The pace scenario here is genuinely complex, making trip handicapping essential.

Key Contenders

Waralo (POST 1) is the morning-line favorite at 2-1, trained by Chris Englehart and ridden by Jose Lezcano. The rail in a six-furlong turf sprint gives Waralo (POST 1) a decisive ground-saving edge. Englehart has proven he can train turf sprinters and Lezcano is among the best at this discipline. At 2-1, this is not a steal, but the combination of inside post, top jockey, and a respected trainer makes Waralo (POST 1) the clear public choice.

Bold Journey (POST 6) at 4-1 is trained by William Mott and ridden by Kendrick Carmouche. Mott is one of the premier trainers in American racing and Carmouche is a superb jockey in these situations. Post 6 is workable, and if Bold Journey (POST 6) can get into a good stalking position, Mott's horses tend to close hard off a contested pace.

Run Curtis Run (POST 3) at 4-1 is trained by Michael Maker and ridden by Dylan Davis. Maker's barn has been delivering winners consistently, and Davis is capable of a big performance. Post 3 provides a clean trip opportunity. At 4-1 in a stakes race, this price could be a genuine value play.

Secondary Choices

Sacrosanct (POST 2) at 5-1 for Linda Rice and Manuel Franco is an intriguing secondary choice. Rice trains some of the best horses in New York and Franco is riding at a very high level. Post 2 is excellent, right next to the favorite, and if Franco can steal a close look at the pace, Sacrosanct (POST 2) could get the jump on the field in the stretch. Light Man (POST 10) at 5-1 for Bruce Levine and Kendrick Carmouche is the second Carmouche ride in this race — if Carmouche is ultimately on Bold Journey (POST 6) as scheduled, this could be a jockey switch situation worth monitoring. Dancing Buck (POST 7) at 4-1 for Michelle Nevin and Ruben Silvera is another quality runner from a barn in form.

Longshots

Twisted Filigree (POST 5) at 12-1 for George Weaver and Jamie Rodriguez offers some turf sprint value at a price. Counter Move (POST 9) at 20-1 for Weaver and Edgard Zayas is the second Weaver entry and would need a perfect trip to factor. Courtly Banker (POST 4) at 15-1 for Barclay Tagg and Katie Davis is trained by one of the most accomplished conditioners in New York, and Tagg's horses are never completely dismissible regardless of odds. Three B's (POST 8) at 30-1 for Rice and Reylu Gutierrez is likely the fourth Rice entry and is here to round out the field.

Selections

Win: Waralo (POST 1) Place: Bold Journey (POST 6) Show: Run Curtis Run (POST 3)

Betting Strategy: This is the card's best race for exotics investment. Waralo (POST 1) is the key horse as the rail and inside post advantage in a turf sprint at this level is significant. However, the field is deep enough that multi-horse exotics are warranted. Exactas of 1-6, 1-3, and 1-2 cover the likely finishers. A trifecta box of 1, 6, and 3 or 2 at a reasonable investment is recommended. For the Pick 4 or Pick 5 anchored here, single Waralo (POST 1) or pair it with Bold Journey (POST 6).

RACE 9 — Post (5:16) — 1760f | D | AO | OClm 55000n1x | BUM | Purse $88,000

A one-mile optional claiming event restricted to fillies and mares at the $55,000 level for non-winners of one race other than maiden, claiming, or starter. Nine starters compete in this distaff route on the main track.

Race 9

Pace Analysis

One mile on the main track for fillies and mares produces a pace scenario that rewards tactical positioning. Aeolian (POST 1) from Chad Brown's barn is likely the controlling speed from the inside rail. Brunch With Amy (POST 2) and Coquito (POST 7) are other horses that could factor in the early going. If Aeolian (POST 1) gets loose on the front end with minimal pressure, she could be very difficult to catch. A contested pace would open the door for closers.

Key Contenders

Aeolian (POST 1) at 2-1 is trained by Chad Brown and ridden by Dylan Davis. Brown continues to dominate the New York turf and dirt scene, and his choice to enter Aeolian (POST 1) here at 2-1 suggests genuine confidence. The inside rail at a mile is a significant advantage, and Davis is fully capable of executing the front-running or stalking tactics that Brown's horses typically employ. This is the horse to beat.

Absolute Honor (POST 3) at 4-1 for Saffie Joseph Jr. and Edgard Zayas is a legitimate threat. Joseph is a nationally prominent trainer with a sharp eye for placing horses in the right spots, and Zayas is one of the top jockeys in the colony. Post 3 is a clean draw. At 4-1, Absolute Honor (POST 3) offers genuine value in exacta play.

Secondary Choices

Coquito (POST 7) at 4-1 for trainer Steven Schauer and jockey Jamie Rodriguez is an interesting price at the same odds as Absolute Honor (POST 3). Schauer has been consistent at this level and Rodriguez is a capable pilot. From Post 7, a clean trip is achievable. Brunch With Amy (POST 2) at 8-1 for Linda Rice and Kendrick Carmouche is slightly overlooked at that price — Rice's barn has multiple runners on today's card, and Carmouche's tactical ability from an inside post is a genuine asset.

Longshots

Romantic Dancer (POST 6) at 6-1 for Richard Dutrow and Manuel Franco offers some value. Dutrow's horses at this level have shown up to run and Franco is always a factor. She's Grand (POST 8) at 6-1 for Linda Rice and Jose Lezcano is the second Rice runner, creating a stable entry dynamic with Brunch With Amy (POST 2). Lezcano's experience in routes makes She's Grand (POST 8) worth including in exotics. Bernieandtherose (POST 4) at 10-1 for Dominick Schettino and Katie Davis is a moderate longshot. Will Not Be Swayed (POST 5) at 20-1 for Lolita Shivmangal and Reylu Gutierrez is likely a field filler. Soundbite (POST 9) at 15-1 for Michelle Nevin and Ruben Silvera is a longer shot who needs everything to go right.

Selections

Win: Aeolian (POST 1) Place: Absolute Honor (POST 3) Show: Coquito (POST 7)

Betting Strategy: Another Chad Brown favorite here, making Aeolian (POST 1) a potential single in Pick 4 or Pick 5 wagers. Exactas of 1-3, 1-7, and 1-6 cover the primary scenarios. The trifecta of 1-3-7 at a fair price is the primary exotic play.

RACE 10 — Post (5:48) — 1760f | D | AO | OClm 80000n2x | CUN | Purse $90,000

An optional claiming route at a mile for non-winners of two races other than maiden, claiming, or starter. Eight starters compete in this high-class event, and the presence of Chad Brown's Playing Tricks (POST 2) at 2-1 makes this another race where the powerhouse trainer is expected to dominate.

Race 10

Pace Analysis

A mile on the main track with a competitive eight-horse field. Playing Tricks (POST 2) and Ranger Battalion (POST 6) figure to set or contest the pace from inside posts. If the pace gets honest, Eliminate (POST 8) for Linda Rice and Kendrick Carmouche could be sitting on a big late run. The pace setup here will be critical to the outcome — this is a race worth watching closely in terms of early fractions.

Key Contenders

Playing Tricks (POST 2) at 2-1 is trained by Chad Brown and ridden by Manuel Franco. Brown has had tremendous success with this type of horse at NYRA, and Playing Tricks (POST 2) is well-positioned from inside the rail. Franco's ability to find position and rate a horse through a mile route is well-established. This is the third race on the card where Brown has the morning-line favorite, reflecting his dominance at this meet.

Eliminate (POST 8) at 3-1 is trained by Linda Rice and ridden by Kendrick Carmouche. Rice's best horse on today's card may be Eliminate (POST 8) — from the outside post in a route, Carmouche will work hard to find a clean trip, but if the pace gets fast, this closer could come with a strong late run. At 3-1, this is a legitimate betting option.

Secondary Choices

Makes Sense (POST 3) at 4-1 for Chad Summers and Jamie Rodriguez is a credible secondary choice. Summers has been consistent at this level and Rodriguez has been in steady form. Ranger Battalion (POST 6) at 4-1 for Linda Rice and Jose Lezcano is the second Rice runner, creating a stable entry with Eliminate (POST 8). Lezcano is a polished route rider and the inside position helps Ranger Battalion (POST 6) in the early going.

Longshots

Otello (POST 7) at 6-1 for Rob Atras and Dylan Davis is worth a look — Atras has a history of competitive horses in this type of optional claiming event and Davis is capable of a big ride. Mr. Papagiorgio (POST 4) at 8-1 for Richard Dutrow and Ruben Silvera is an interesting longer price from Dutrow's barn, which has been represented well today. General Banker (POST 1) at 10-1 for James Ferraro and Edgard Zayas is a longer shot from the inside rail who could steal a position early. Lou (POST 5) at 50-1 for Maria Mann and Katie Davis is a field filler at an extreme price and should be left off all serious wagering tickets.

Selections

Win: Playing Tricks (POST 2) Place: Eliminate (POST 8) Show: Makes Sense (POST 3)

Betting Strategy: Playing Tricks (POST 2) is another strong single for Brown-Franco followers. Exactas of 2-8 and 2-3 are the primary plays. The trifecta of 2-8-3 or 2-3-8 at a competitive price offers the best return scenario on this race.

RACE 11 — Post (6:20) — 1320f | t | S | Md Sp Wt | BUN | Purse $80,000

The card closes with a six-furlong turf maiden special weight for juveniles or older horses, featuring ten starters and a competitive morning-line with Super Dave (POST 4) installed as the 2-1 choice.

Race 11

Pace Analysis

A six-furlong turf maiden special weight can produce unpredictable pace scenarios, particularly with a large field of ten. Super Dave (POST 4) figures to be forwardly placed, while Bubster (POST 7) and Daisy Doo (POST 5) may work off the pace. The inside posts will be at a premium in the early going, and any horse that can break cleanly and find a clean position will be advantaged.

Key Contenders

Super Dave (POST 4) at 2-1 is trained by Wesley Ward and goes with an interesting jockey assignment in F. Pennington. Ward's turf sprinting record is elite — he is the premier trainer in North America for short grass races — and Super Dave (POST 4) is the type of horse Ward typically has well-prepared for debut or early career starts. The 2-1 morning line reflects genuine trainer confidence.

Bubster (POST 7) at 4-1 is trained by Bruce Levine and ridden by Jose Lezcano. Levine has a solid record on the NYRA circuit and Lezcano is one of the best jockeys available. Post 7 is a workable draw in a ten-horse turf sprint. At 4-1, Bubster (POST 7) represents the best value alternative to the Ward favorite.

Secondary Choices

Daisy Doo (POST 5) at 5-1 for Robert Ribaudo and Edgard Zayas is a solid secondary choice. Ribaudo is a veteran trainer in New York and Zayas has been in excellent form throughout this meet. Takeiteasy Charlie (POST 2) at 6-1 for Riley Mott and Manuel Franco is another appealing runner — Mott's horses tend to be well-prepared in maiden conditions and Franco will give this one every chance.

Longshots

How Much Is Enough (POST 10) at 8-1 for Linda Rice and Ruben Silvera is the Rice barn's final runner on the card. At 8-1 in a competitive maiden, this is worth including in exotics. Son Of A Pharoah (POST 1) at 12-1 for Charlton Baker and Dylan Davis will need a clean break from the inside to factor at this price. Sultan Hassan (POST 8) at 10-1 for Horacio De Paz and Jamie Rodriguez is a longer price who could outrun his odds. Portadown Lad (POST 3) at 20-1 for James Ferraro and Kendrick Carmouche is a longshot, though Carmouche's presence gives him some appeal in a wide trifecta. Mr. Pools (POST 6) at 20-1 for Chris Englehart and Andre Shivnarine Worrie is a stable longshot. Bold Scholar (POST 9) at 30-1 for Melanie Giddings and Katie Davis rounds out the field at the longest price available.

Selections

Win: Super Dave (POST 4) Place: Bubster (POST 7) Show: Daisy Doo (POST 5)

Betting Strategy: Wesley Ward in a turf sprint maiden is a bankable angle. Super Dave (POST 4) is the key horse to use in exotics to close the card. Exactas of 4-7, 4-5, and 4-2 are the primary plays. The trifecta of 4-7-5 is the main exotic ticket.

JOCKEY NOTES AND INSIGHTS

Manuel Franco is riding at an exceptionally high level this meet. He holds engagements in Races 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, and 11, and his mounts include favored horses for trainers of the caliber of Chad Brown, Michael Maker, and Linda Rice. Franco's presence on a horse at any odds level should be considered a meaningful upgrade, and his ability to find position in both sprint and route situations makes him one of the most versatile jockeys on the NYRA circuit.

Jose Lezcano is the other elite rider on today's card, with mounts in Races 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Lezcano is particularly skilled in route situations on the turf and dirt, and his ability to rate horses through complex pace scenarios gives trainers significant confidence in his riding decisions.

Dylan Davis has been in excellent form this meet, with key mounts including Ducky Medwick (POST 3) in Race 3, After Taxes (POST 8) in Race 5, Run Curtis Run (POST 3) in Race 8, Aeolian (POST 1) in Race 9, and Otello (POST 7) in Race 10. Davis has been consistent in terms of delivering clean trips and making good decisions in the stretch.

Kendrick Carmouche has a strong book of mounts including Archimedes (POST 2) in Race 5, Starlight Dancer (POST 3) in Race 6, Mission Critical (POST 6) in Race 7, Bold Journey (POST 6) in Race 8, and Brunch With Amy (POST 2) in Race 9. Carmouche is at his best in turf situations and today's card gives him multiple opportunities to showcase that skill.

Edgard Zayas rounds out the top tier with mounts throughout the card, including Two By Two By Two (POST 7) in Race 2 for Brad Cox — a high-profile assignment that reflects the confidence trainers place in him. Zayas has been particularly sharp on turf horses throughout this meeting.

TRAINER NOTES AND INSIGHTS

Chad Brown is the dominant training presence on today's card, with favorites in Race 6 in Brillante (POST 2), Race 9 in Aeolian (POST 1), and Race 10 in Playing Tricks (POST 2). Brown's turf-focused operation is the best in North America, and his horses at NYRA meets are consistently well-prepared. When Brown sends a horse out at or near even money, the betting public is correct to take notice. His overall win rate and return-on-investment statistics on the NYRA circuit are exceptional.

Brad Cox has Two By Two By Two (POST 7) in Race 2, one of the marquee horses on the card for a trainer who is among the elite in the national standings. Cox's horses travel well and are typically in excellent condition when they appear on cards away from his primary bases.

Michael Maker has Calling Card (POST 4) in Race 3, Archimedes (POST 2) in Race 5, and Run Curtis Run (POST 3) in Race 8. Maker's operation is sharp, and with Franco on Calling Card (POST 4) and Carmouche on Archimedes (POST 2), the jockey choices reflect confidence.

Linda Rice is the busiest trainer on the card with multiple runners including Antietam (POST 2) in Race 3, Swaging (POST 7) in Race 5, Sacrosanct (POST 2) in Race 8, Brunch With Amy (POST 2) and She's Grand (POST 8) in Race 9, Ranger Battalion (POST 6) and Eliminate (POST 8) in Race 10, and How Much Is Enough (POST 10) in Race 11. Rice's horses are consistently competitive and her record at this venue is excellent.

Wesley Ward has the two marquee turf sprint entries of the day: After Taxes (POST 8) in Race 5 and Super Dave (POST 4) in Race 11. Ward's record in turf sprints at this distance is unmatched in North America. Both horses should be considered among the most reliable single-race plays on the card.

Ilkay Kantarmaci has a significant presence throughout the card, with stable entries in Race 1 in Best Impression (POST 2) and Open Soul Autism (POST 3), Race 4 in Classic Cut (POST 1) and Dot's Dollar (POST 8), and Race 6 in Brillante (POST 2) and Amelia's Echo (POST 8) and Karey (POST 9). The stable entry situations in Races 1, 4, and 6 create interesting wagering angles.

Richard Dutrow has Toga D'oro (POST 9) and Slay Sadie Slay (POST 6) in Race 5, Putonahappyface (POST 6) in Race 6, and Mr. Papagiorgio (POST 4) and Romantic Dancer (POST 6) in Races 9 and 10. The TBA rider situation on Toga D'oro (POST 9) is the primary concern for bettors following this barn today.

BEST WAGERING STRATEGIES AND VALUE PLAYS

The signature wagering narrative on today's card is the Chad Brown-Wesley Ward double act. Brown has heavy favorites in Races 6, 9, and 10, while Ward holds the top contenders in Races 5 and 11. Building multi-race wagers around these horses as singles is the recommended approach.

For the Pick 5 or rolling Pick 4 anchored at Race 8, the structure is as follows: use Waralo (POST 1) as the single in Race 8, the premier event of the day. Then build out around the neighboring races. In Race 7, spread between Sully (POST 9), Bold Love (POST 3), and Salming (POST 1). In Race 9, use Aeolian (POST 1) as a single or pair with Absolute Honor (POST 3). In Race 10, single Playing Tricks (POST 2). In Race 11, single Super Dave (POST 4) or pair with Bubster (POST 7). This structure gives a balanced pick sequence with two or three singles and spreads in the competitive races.

The best value plays on the card include:

Mappy (POST 1) in Race 2 at 5-1 represents genuine turf route value from the George Weaver barn with the rail advantage in a turf maiden.

Sacrosanct (POST 2) in Race 8 at 5-1 with Franco and Rice is arguably the most undervalued horse on the entire card. In a $150,000 stakes race, the Linda Rice-Manuel Franco combination at 5-1 is a legitimate overlay.

Eliminate (POST 8) in Race 10 at 3-1 is a credible price for a Linda Rice-Kendrick Carmouche combination in a high-class optional claimer. If the pace gets hot, this closer could run down Playing Tricks (POST 2) in the stretch.

Brunch With Amy (POST 2) in Race 9 at 8-1 for Rice and Carmouche looks overlooked given the trainer's multiple strong entries on the card.

For the daily double linking Race 10 into Race 11, the combination of Playing Tricks (POST 2) over Super Dave (POST 4) should return at a modest but fair price and represents a high-confidence double play to close the card.

The exacta most likely to return significant value on the card is in Race 8, using Sacrosanct (POST 2) on top of Waralo (POST 1). If the pace collapses and Franco exploits the position with Sacrosanct (POST 2), the 5-1 horse beating the 2-1 favorite could return a meaningful exacta price. This is worth a small investment as an alternate ticket against the primary Waralo (POST 1) on top exotics.
