Mountaineer Park — September 2, 2026 | Pick Pony Condensed Report

Fast dirt, firm-to-good turf, no weather concerns. Inside posts hold a modest sprint advantage on the dirt; turf posts are secondary to class and fitness.

Race 1 — 1210f | Dirt | Clm $4,000 | 7:00 PM

Johnny Lies (1) is the logical favorite from the rail at 2-1 with clear early positional advantage. Red Fern (3) is the main threat at 3-1 from a clean draw. Fernando's Gold (5) at 4-1 adds early pace pressure and belongs in exotics.

Race 2 — 990f | Dirt | Clm $3,200 | Mares | 7:25 PM

Spatula (4) at 2-1 is the play in this short sprint for mares, with a workable draw and a confident barn. Knobiesmagicsonde (1) at 4-1 gets the rail advantage that matters most at this distance and is a legitimate saver. Maam Cross (5) at 4-1 is worth including underneath if the speed duel opens the door for a late runner.

Race 3 — 1760f | Turf | Alw $21,000 | 7:50 PM

Mitote (5) at 2-1 is the best turf bet of the card's first half, ideally positioned to stalk and close on a fair pace. Candy For Cynthia (2) at 3-1 from a ground-saving draw is the top exacta partner. Blown Away (8) at 4-1 is the most interesting secondary option despite the wide draw, and Why Winchill Why (6) at 6-1 is worth trifecta consideration.

Race 4 — 1760f | Turf | Clm $15,000 | 8:15 PM

Tafaany (1) is the single most actionable win bet on the card — rail draw, experienced rider, and a fair 2-1 price in a nine-horse turf mile. Positive Carry (3) at 5-1 offers clean trip value from Post 3 as the top exacta option. Morgan's Bluff (9) at 3-1 has ability but must overcome the outside post in a full field.

Race 5 — 1760f | Dirt | Clm $4,000 | 8:40 PM

Scuba (1) at 1-1 is the dominant favorite from the rail and best used as a single in exotics rather than a standalone win bet. Semper Anticus (2) at 3-1 is the primary exacta threat from the adjacent post. Gray Beast (3) at 4-1 is the best alternative if the favorite underperforms.

Race 6 — 1760f | Dirt | Clm $5,000 | Mares | 9:05 PM

Pour Me A Drink (1) at 2-1 holds the rail advantage at one mile and is the narrow top selection in what shapes as a two-horse race. Sweet Talia (6) at 2-1 is equally dangerous and must be included in all exotic structures despite the outside draw. Best Virginia (4) and Amadora's Empire (5), both at 4-1, are the trifecta fillers.

Race 7 — 1320f | Dirt | Clm $25,000 | 9:30 PM

Ur Fabulous (7) at 1-1 is the class of the field and best singled in multi-race exotics at seven furlongs. Happy Friday (1) at 3-1 from the rail is the best exacta value on the card, a realistic finisher if the pace gets contested. Red Drapes (4) at 4-1 is a useful trifecta inclusion as the stablemate and likely beneficiary if the favorite dominates up front.

Race 8 — 1210f | Dirt | Clm $3,200 | Mares | 9:55 PM

I'm On Edge (7) at 2-1 is preferred over co-favorite Giuliana's Dream (12) strictly on post position grounds in this twelve-horse sprint. Scream Machine (9) at 4-1 and Princess Mitole (8) at 5-1 are the top secondary choices. Entitled Defense (11) at 10-1 is the best longshot angle of the entire card — a jockey-upgrade play worth including in all trifecta and superfecta tickets at minimal cost.
