Race Day Overview — Finger Lakes Racetrack, September 16, 2026

Finger Lakes Racetrack in Farmington, New York opens its Tuesday card with twelve races spread across a full afternoon of dirt racing. Today's program is a working-class card typical of the Finger Lakes circuit, featuring a mix of claiming events, maiden races, and allowance conditions that attract the regional talent base of upstate New York and the surrounding horsemen community. The card kicks off at 12:55 PM ET and runs through the late afternoon with the final race scheduled for 4:18 PM.

The September meet at Finger Lakes is historically one of the stronger stretches of the season at this track, as horses that have been running at Saratoga, Belmont, and other larger circuits filter down looking for easier spots, while the local conditioners who know the track intimately set their horses for conditions designed specifically for their barns. Horsemen familiar with the Farmington oval have a distinct edge in these shorter-field, lower-level events, and stable patterns are often the single most valuable handicapping tool on this circuit.

Today's twelve-race card includes three dirt claiming races, two maiden claiming events, two maiden special weight equivalent events, and two allowance contests. The feature of the day from a purse standpoint is Race 6, the n1x allowance offering a $27,300 purse going a mile and three-sixteenths on the main track.

Notable from the overnight entries is the presence of the Kantarmaci barn with multiple runners on the card, as well as the Barrow stable saddling horses in several races. The Ferraro barn also sends out multiple starters today. These multi-horse days from established local conditioners are always worth tracking at a circuit like Finger Lakes, where trainer patterns and stable hot streaks carry outsized significance.

Weather and Track Conditions

September in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York brings classic transitional weather, and mid-September 2026 carries the cooling trend that typically marks the end of the summer meet's humidity. Temperatures for the Farmington area on September 16 are projected in the low-to-mid 70s Fahrenheit, with partly cloudy skies and a moderate breeze out of the northwest. No significant precipitation is anticipated in the immediate pre-race window, though the region saw rainfall earlier in the week.

The Finger Lakes main track is expected to be listed as fast for the opening of today's card, reflecting the drying effect of the past 24 to 36 hours. Track superintendent crews at Finger Lakes have been maintaining the main oval through the late stages of the meet, and a fast or good rating at post time appears most likely.

A fast, sealed Finger Lakes surface in September tends to play fairly honest, though the rail has historically carried some advantage at this oval when the track is maintained and packed tight. Speed horses with inside posts merit added consideration on fast-track days at Farmington.

Track Bias and Post Position Analysis

Finger Lakes is a tight one-mile oval with relatively short runs to the first turn, which creates meaningful post-position dynamics in sprint races. The 1,210-foot and 1,320-foot sprints on today's card — Races 4, 5, 7, and 8 — present the sharpest post-position challenges, as horses in outside posts must use early energy to secure position before the first turn compresses the field.

On a fast track at Finger Lakes, inside posts have historically produced a slight edge in sprint races, particularly when a horse has early speed and can find the rail naturally without having to fight for position. The one-turn route distances — today's 1,760-foot races — are somewhat more forgiving of outside posts, as the longer run before the first turn allows horses to settle position more organically.

In the two-turn route going 1,830 feet (Race 1), outside posts can be a significant disadvantage against a compact field, as early pace pressure in routes at tight tracks can pin wide runners in losing position through the first run. Inside speed in routes at Finger Lakes is a consistent angle worth playing.

Speed horses have been performing well at this meet, and horses that can get to the front or press the pace without burning excessive early fractions tend to hold up better than closers who need everything to set up perfectly. On a fast track with projected modest fractions in the lower claiming and maiden ranks, stalkers and pressers have a solid base to work from, but pure closers face a tougher assignment than at larger ovals with bigger fields generating more pace pressure.

Post positions to watch today: Post 1 and Post 2 in sprint races carry a slight positive bias. Posts 7 through 10 in the larger-field sprints (Races 5, 7, and 8) present a mild negative bias that needs to be offset by superior class, speed, or tactical ability.

RACE 1 — Post (12:55)/11:55/10:55/9:55 — 1830f | D | C | Clm 11000n3l | BUN | Purse $17,800

A six-horse field goes a mile and an eighth on the main track in this claiming event restricted to horses that have not won three lifetime races. The $11,000 claiming tag and the n3l condition attract horses still working through the claiming ranks without extensive records of success. At the route distance, pace management and tactical positioning become paramount, and horses with clean, forwardly placed running styles have a built-in edge over this short field at this tight track.

Pace Analysis

With six horses going a route, the pace scenario here figures to be contested but not brutal. The key question is who applies early pressure and whether any horse can clear and relax on the lead. I'm Solo N In Love (1) draws the rail in a route, the most favorable post at Finger Lakes going two turns. Solo Dancing (5) has shown some early foot in past efforts. Nantz (2) and Schlomo (3) figure to track from the second flight. The early fractions should be modest in this level of claiming route, setting up a scenario where a horse with solid early positioning and a strong late kick from the inside posts could have a major edge.

Key Contenders

Nantz (2), trained by Mertkan Kantarmaci and ridden by Heman K. Harkie, draws the morning-line favoritism at 2-1 and is expected to be the public's choice in this spot. The Kantarmaci stable has been one of the more active outfits at Finger Lakes this meet, and Nantz drops into a spot where the conditions align well. From Post 2 in a route, this horse has ideal tactical positioning and should be able to stalk the pace from a ground-saving spot. The 2-1 morning line suggests the connections and the form cycle are lining up.

Schlomo (3), also from the Kantarmaci barn but trained by Ilkay Kantarmaci rather than Mertkan, draws Post 3 with Reylu Gutierrez aboard at 3-1. Having two horses from connected barns in the same race is always worth scrutinizing. Schlomo at 3-1 could represent value if the barn is genuinely trying with both, or could be a secondary option if Nantz is the main player. Gutierrez is a capable jockey on this circuit and will give Schlomo every opportunity. The 3-1 morning line in this spot offers fair value.

I'm Solo N In Love (1) draws Post 1 with Joel Cruz up for the Ferraro barn at 4-1. The inside post in the route is a real asset here. Cruz is a competent rider at this level, and Anthony Ferraro sends this horse out in what appears to be a competitive setup. The 4-1 morning line may understate the post position advantage in the route.

Secondary Choices

Solo Dancing (5) for the D'Alessandro barn with Christopher Elliott up at 4-1 is the other legitimate price contender in this race. D'Alessandro is a solid regional trainer and Elliott has been reliable. From Post 5 in a route, the horse will need to either establish position quickly or use some early energy to find a comfortable spot. At 4-1 alongside I'm Solo N In Love (1), there is some value here if the horse shows tactical speed.

Spirit Of Esther (6), the second Ilkay Kantarmaci runner at 5-1 with Jose Baez aboard, closes out the field from the outside post. Baez is one of the better jockeys on this circuit and will try to find a ground-saving trip from the six hole. The 5-1 morning line offers some appeal, but outside posts in routes at Finger Lakes are a hurdle to overcome.

Longshots

Notfanutin (4) for the Gutterson barn with Emanuel De Diego is the 6-1 outsider. Katlynn Gutterson is a lesser-known conditioner at this circuit, and De Diego will need to overcome a middle post in the route. At 6-1, this is a throwout unless there is a specific form angle that stands out in the final program.

Selections

Win: Nantz (2) Place: Schlomo (3) Show: I'm Solo N In Love (1)

Betting Strategy: The Kantarmaci barn running two horses with the favorite and the second choice creates an interesting dynamic. Box Nantz (2) and Schlomo (3) in exactas, with I'm Solo N In Love (1) underneath in case the inside post triggers a wire move. A Nantz (2) win single into wider exotics is reasonable at 2-1 only if the barn is firing with its main runner.

RACE 2 — Post (1:24)/12:24/11:24/10:24 — 1760f | D | M | Md 5000 | BUN | Purse $13,500

The second race on the card is a maiden claiming event at $5,000 going a mile and a tenth on the dirt. This is bottom-of-the-barrel claiming maiden territory, and fields at this level can be notoriously difficult to handicap due to inconsistent past performances, limited form, and horses that have failed to break their maiden despite numerous opportunities. At Finger Lakes in September, this level often attracts horses from other circuits that have been given several chances elsewhere and are now being spotted at a highly accessible price.

Pace Analysis

Six horses enter this maiden claiming route. Saint Solomon (1) and Savvylicious (2) share co-favorite status at 2-1, and both draw favorable inside posts. The pace in a maiden claiming route at $5,000 tends to be erratic, with horses making tactical errors and pace sorting itself out through the run. An honest or brisk early pace here would favor horses with some late kick, but in this level of maiden claimer, closers often get swallowed up by leaders who slow the pace to a crawl. Front-running or pressing tactics with horses in Posts 1 through 3 should dominate.

Key Contenders

Saint Solomon (1) for trainer Tamara Housel with Keiber J. Coa up at 2-1 is a legitimate play from the rail. Housel is a savvy conditioner who knows how to place horses at Finger Lakes, and Coa is one of the top jockeys on this circuit. From Post 1 in a route, Saint Solomon has every opportunity to find the fence and save ground throughout. At 2-1, the morning line is competitive but reasonable given the connections.

Savvylicious (2) trained by Michele Tasso with O.K. Hernandez at 2-1 matches the co-favorite status from Post 2. Another inside post draw in a route is a significant advantage. The 2-1 morning line with the favorable post position makes this horse a genuine contender, and Hernandez has been active on this circuit.

Secondary Choices

Darby Dreams (4) trained by Jose Merced with Jose Ventura at 4-1 represents solid middle value. Merced is a consistent trainer at Finger Lakes with multiple horses on today's card, and Ventura is his regular rider. From Post 4 in a route, the horse must be quick enough out of the gate to avoid wide trips. At 4-1 this is a legitimate exacta/trifecta inclusion.

Hold The Phone (3) for Rachel Sells with Emanuel De Diego at 5-1 is a fair price from Post 3. Sells has shown ability to win races at this level, and De Diego is a capable rider. The 5-1 morning line makes this a solid exacta underneath play.

Sunflower Alley (6) trained by Gerald B. Strickland with Jose Baez at 6-1 draws the outside post in this route. Baez's presence upgrades the horse significantly from a jockey standpoint, and Strickland knows this circuit. The 6-1 morning line offers some value, and Baez may be able to overcome the outside post by sitting off the pace and making a late run.

Longshots

Connor's Turn (5) from the Morales barn with Luis Pena at 10-1 is a legitimate throwout in this spot. The 10-1 morning line at this level with a less prominent trainer-jockey combination is a difficult play to justify. Would only consider as a trifecta filler.

Selections

Win: Saint Solomon (1) Place: Savvylicious (2) Show: Darby Dreams (4)

Betting Strategy: Box Saint Solomon (1) and Savvylicious (2) in exactas and add Darby Dreams (4) and Hold The Phone (3) in trifectas. The two co-favorites with inside posts should dominate, and the exacta between them, while short in payoff, is the most likely outcome. Include Sunflower Alley (6) as a trifecta bottom with Baez aboard.

RACE 3 — Post (1:53)/12:53/11:53/10:53 — 1760f | D | A | Alw 26500n2l | BUM | Purse $26,500

The third race on the card steps up significantly in quality, featuring a six-horse allowance field going a mile and a tenth on the main track for the n2l condition — restricted to horses that have not won two lifetime races. At a $26,500 purse, this is one of the stronger races on the afternoon's lower half of the card. Allowance horses at Finger Lakes in the n2l condition are often horses with talent that just needs to break through, and fields like this can be genuinely competitive.

Pace Analysis

Purpose (3) at 2-1 morning line figures as the horse most likely to control or press the pace, depending on early developments. Warrior Bunny Zee (2) and Tahila (1) are inside runners who will jostle for early position. The pace in an n2l allowance at this level figures to be more honest than the claiming routes earlier on the card. If Purpose (3) gets loose on the lead at honest fractions, the race could be over early. A contested early pace would open the door for one of the stalkers to close.

Key Contenders

Purpose (3), trained by Harold James Bond with Reylu Gutierrez aboard at 2-1, is the morning-line favorite and draws Post 3 in a six-horse field. Bond is a trainer with a national reputation, and having a horse pointed here is a meaningful angle. Gutierrez has been in good form on this circuit, and Purpose at 2-1 appears to be well-meant. The combination of a capable conditioner, a reliable jockey, and the morning line favorite status makes Purpose the cornerstone of the race analysis.

Warrior Bunny Zee (2) for trainer Michael LeCesse with Keiber J. Coa at 3-1 draws Post 2 with an excellent inside position. Coa is arguably the best jockey on this circuit today, and LeCesse is a competent conditioner who spots horses intelligently. At 3-1, Warrior Bunny Zee offers legitimate value with a top rider and a favorable post. This horse needs to be included in all exotic wagers.

Secondary Choices

Tahila (1) trained by Dana Saul with Jose Baez at 4-1 draws the rail with one of the meet's better jockeys. Saul is a capable conditioner, and the inside post with Baez gives Tahila every tactical advantage. At 4-1 in a six-horse field this is a solid each-way play and deserves inclusion in exactas and trifectas.

Annagenda (4) from the Barrow barn with Jeremias Flores at 4-1 represents the Barrow stable's presence on the card. Paul Barrow runs multiple horses today, and Annagenda at 4-1 from Post 4 is a legitimate price contender. Flores is a capable rider who can navigate the mid-field positions in a six-horse field.

Well Documented (5), the second Barrow runner at 5-1 with O. Gomez aboard, gives the barn two chances in this allowance race. Gomez is a frequent rider for Barrow, and the 5-1 morning line makes Well Documented worth a look in trifecta construction.

Longshots

Gramma G G (6) for Chris Englehart with Andre Shivnarine Worrie at 5-1 closes out the field. Englehart is an established New England and regional conditioner, and Worrie has been active at Finger Lakes this meet. The outside post in a six-horse mile-and-tenth route is manageable, and 5-1 is a reasonable morning line if the horse has shown form in recent outings.

Selections

Win: Purpose (3) Place: Warrior Bunny Zee (2) Show: Tahila (1)

Betting Strategy: The Barrow barn having two runners at 4-1 and 5-1 with the same trainer in a six-horse field creates value confusion. Key Purpose (3) on top in exactas, with Warrior Bunny Zee (2) and Tahila (1) underneath. Build trifectas with Purpose (3) on top, Warrior Bunny Zee (2) and Warrior Bunny Zee (2) in the middle, and Annagenda (4) and Gramma G G (6) on the bottom for value payouts.

RACE 4 — Post (2:22)/1:22/12:22/11:22 — 1210f | D | M | Md 11000 | BUN | Purse $17,000

Seven horses enter this maiden claiming sprint at $11,000 going a little over seven furlongs on the main track. Maiden claiming sprints at this distance are the bread and butter of the Finger Lakes circuit, and these races can produce sharp juveniles or lightly raced older horses trying to break their maiden under conditions most accessible at this level. The short run to the first turn makes inside posts advantageous, and speed from the gate matters.

Pace Analysis

Trinity River (1) at 2-1 and Concrete Kid (2) at 2-1 share morning-line favoritism and both draw in Posts 1 and 2. This setup strongly suggests a front-end duel or one of these horses getting the clear lead and wiring the field. Keep 'em Honest (7), despite the outside post, is at 3-1 and may try to press from the outside. If Trinity River (1) and Concrete Kid (2) duel on the front end, a pressing or stalking horse could sweep past them in the stretch. However, if one of them gets clear, the outside horses will have a very difficult time making up the difference on this tight oval.

Key Contenders

Trinity River (1) for Michael Ferraro with L.E. Perez at 2-1 draws the rail in a sprint. This is a powerful combination: a strong local trainer, a capable rider, and the best post in the sprint at Finger Lakes. Ferraro knows this track exceptionally well and his morning-line selections tend to reflect genuine intent. At 2-1 from the rail in a maiden sprint, Trinity River demands respect.

Concrete Kid (2) trained by Paul Barrow with O. Gomez at 2-1 from Post 2 mirrors the favoritism from an equally strong inside post. Barrow has multiple runners today, and Gomez is his regular pilot. Both co-favorites drawing Posts 1 and 2 in a sprint is the kind of scenario where one of them is likely to lead wire to wire. The question is which one fades and which one accelerates in the stretch.

Secondary Choices

Keep 'em Honest (7) for the Housel barn with Keiber J. Coa at 3-1 draws the outside post but gets an upgrade with one of the circuit's top jockeys. Housel placing a horse with Coa at 3-1 from the outside suggests confidence in the horse's ability. Coa will need to use some early speed or find a clean outside path, and in a seven-horse sprint at Finger Lakes, the outside draw is a meaningful disadvantage. At 3-1, there is fair value if Coa can maneuver.

King Solomon (4) trained by Ralph D'Alessandro with Jose Baez at 6-1 draws Post 4 in a maiden sprint. Baez and D'Alessandro are familiar partners, and 6-1 offers value if the horse has been working toward a breakthrough. A mid-field draw in a sprint at this oval is manageable with early speed.

Longshots

Yahearmenow (5) for James Hooper with Reylu Gutierrez at 8-1 from Post 5 is a price play. Gutierrez has been riding well and can be dangerous at a price if the horse has hidden form. The 8-1 morning line is worth a token trifecta inclusion.

Central Dream (3) for Matthew Clarke with Ramon M. Mulero at 10-1 is a longer shot from Post 3. Clarke is a smaller operation on this circuit and Mulero's experience here is limited. Trifecta filler only.

Shea D Voting (6) from the Dixon stable with Jacqueline A. Davis at 15-1 is a probable throwout. The longest price in the field with a less prominent rider-trainer combination makes this difficult to include in serious wagering.

Selections

Win: Trinity River (1) Place: Concrete Kid (2) Show: Keep 'em Honest (7)

Betting Strategy: This race sets up as a straight exacta race between Trinity River (1) and Concrete Kid (2). Key the exacta both ways and add Keep 'em Honest (7) in trifectas. The morning lines being identical at 2-1 for both inside posts suggests a genuine match race. The daily double connecting Race 3 and Race 4 with Purpose (3) into Trinity River (1) is worth considering as a two-horse single.

RACE 5 — Post (2:51)/1:51/12:51/11:51 — 1320f | D | C | Clm 11000n2l | BUN | Purse $17,500

Ten horses enter this $11,000 claiming sprint going a mile on the main track for horses that have not won two lifetime races. This is the deepest field of the afternoon in terms of horse count, and ten-horse sprints at Finger Lakes create legitimate post-position concerns for outside draws. The n2l condition brings together horses still searching for their second career win, and these fields often feature live horses at prices when a trainer has found just the right spot.

Pace Analysis

With ten horses in a one-turn sprint, the early pace scenario is complex. Pandemic Hero (2) at 3-1 from Post 2 draws an excellent inside post and likely represents early speed. Montauk Memoirs (7) for the Barrow stable and Noguchi (10) from the outside are among the horses who will be forced wide early. Allofasuddenlee (4) at 5-1 from Post 4 is a pace participant from a manageable spot. If the early fractions are honest with multiple horses pressing from the inside, a closer from mid-pack could find a slice of the pie, but at Finger Lakes with ten runners, the rail path remains king.

Key Contenders

Pandemic Hero (2), trained by Jose L. Jimenez with Reylu Gutierrez at 3-1, draws Post 2 in what is the ideal setup for this race. Jimenez is an active conditioner on this circuit, and Gutierrez continues to be among the most reliable riders in today's afternoon. The combination of a 3-1 morning line, Post 2 draw, and quality rider makes Pandemic Hero the clear top selection. In a ten-horse sprint at Finger Lakes, the second post with a good gate horse is as good as it gets.

Montauk Memoirs (7) trained by Paul Barrow with Jeremias Flores at 4-1 is the Barrow barn's entry in this race. Barrow runs multiple horses today and Montauk Memoirs at 4-1 from Post 7 is a legitimate threat despite the outside draw. Flores has been solid for the barn, and if the horse has class over this field, the outside post is surmountable. At 4-1 shared with Noguchi (10), there is reasonable value here.

Secondary Choices

Allofasuddenlee (4), trained by David M. Rivera with Jose Baez at 5-1 from Post 4, draws a central position with one of the meet's top riders. Rivera is a capable conditioner and Baez gives any horse he rides a significant upgrade. At 5-1 with a manageable post and top jockey, Allofasuddenlee is a legitimate exotic play.

Noguchi (10), trained by William H. Bartlett with Jacqueline A. Davis at 4-1, draws the outside post in a ten-horse sprint. The 4-1 morning line suggests Bartlett likes this horse's chances despite the brutal outside draw. Davis is an active rider on this circuit and will try to find a forward trip, but Post 10 in a sprint at Finger Lakes is a significant challenge to overcome. Worth including in trifectas.

Propitious (1) for Ronald Breed Jr. with O. Gomez at 8-1 from the rail in a sprint deserves mention. The rail post in a sprint is a positive at Finger Lakes, and Gomez is a capable rider. At 8-1 the price is appealing if the horse can break cleanly and hold the rail.

Longshots

Ride Share (6) for Jonathan Buckley with Kevin Navarro at 8-1 from Post 6 is an interesting price from a mid-field draw. Buckley has horses on the card and Navarro is an active rider. Fess (3) trained by Luis A. Gutierrez with C. Russell at 15-1 is a price play from Post 3. Beev's Blessing (8) from the Torelli barn with Steven Fret at 15-1 is a trifecta filler. New Matthew (5) trained by Michael T. Sabine with Emanuel De Diego at 20-1 is a throwout. Reside (9) for Timothy Murphy with M.A. Davila Jr. at 20-1 rounds out the field as a throwout at that price in a ten-horse sprint.

Selections

Win: Pandemic Hero (2) Place: Allofasuddenlee (4) Show: Montauk Memoirs (7)

Betting Strategy: Use Pandemic Hero (2) as the key horse on top in exactas, with Allofasuddenlee (4), Montauk Memoirs (7), and Noguchi (10) underneath. In trifectas, key Pandemic Hero (2) on top, spread Allofasuddenlee (4) and Montauk Memoirs (7) in the middle, and open the bottom with Propitious (1), Ride Share (6), and Noguchi (10). This is a good race for a small Pick 3 starting position.

RACE 6 — Post (3:20)/2:20/1:20/12:20 — 1760f | D | A | Alw 27300n1x | BUN | Purse $27,300

The afternoon's feature event goes a mile and a tenth on the main track in this n1x allowance condition, meaning horses that have not won an allowance race or have won only restricted events. The $27,300 purse is the richest on the card, and a seven-horse field lines up with legitimate open competition. The n1x condition is a genuine test, as these horses have often broken their maiden and may have won at a lower level, but now must prove themselves against horses on similar upward trajectories.

Pace Analysis

Probability (3) at 2-1 morning line from Post 3 figures as the dominant pace factor. Go Yoshida (1) and Beach Invasion (2) for the Ferraro barn draw Posts 1 and 2, giving that stable control of the inside early in a seven-horse mile-and-tenth. With two Ferraro horses drawing the two inside posts, there is a real possibility of deliberate pace management from that barn. Probability (3) at 2-1 in a Amelia Green-trained operation may set the tempo or press, depending on gate behavior. The pace scenario here has multiple layers, and a moderate early pace is likely with several tactical horses involved.

Key Contenders

Probability (3), trained by Amelia J. Green with Christopher Elliott at 2-1, draws Post 3 with the best morning-line odds in the field. Green is a capable conditioner, and Elliott has been an active and competent rider at this level. In a n1x allowance for a $27,300 purse, the morning-line favorite at 2-1 carries genuine respect, and Probability's positioning from Post 3 allows for tactical flexibility. This is the race's likely control horse.

Beach Invasion (2), trained by M. Anthony Ferraro with Keiber J. Coa at 4-1, is the second Ferraro runner from the premium inside posts. Coa riding for the Ferraro barn is an excellent combination, and the 4-1 morning line with a Post 2 draw makes Beach Invasion highly competitive. Handicappers may view this as the more dangerous of the two Ferraro horses based on jockey assignment.

Go Yoshida (1) for M. Anthony Ferraro with L.E. Perez at 4-1 draws the rail, the most favorable post at Finger Lakes in any route. If Go Yoshida (1) can find the lead or sit just off it from the inside, this horse could be very dangerous in the stretch. Perez has been active for the Ferraro barn and the trainer clearly has confidence in both horses today.

Secondary Choices

Not For Hire (7) for Jonathan Buckley with Joel Cruz at 5-1 from the outside post adds interest. Buckley has horses on the card today and Cruz is a capable rider who will try to find a clean outside path in a seven-horse route. At 5-1 from Post 7, there is value here if the horse has the class to run with these horses.

Big Rich (6) trained by Timothy Murphy with Emanuel De Diego at 6-1 from Post 6 offers mid-range price appeal. Murphy has multiple runners today and De Diego is a capable journeyman. At 6-1 in the day's richest race, Big Rich deserves trifecta inclusion.

Longshots

Janssen (4) for Julie Pierson with Jacqueline A. Davis at 12-1 is a longer price from Post 4. Pierson is a lesser-known conditioner at this circuit and Davis has been active but not dominant. Trifecta filler.

Lucas's Mischief (5) trained by Jose L. Jimenez with Kevin Navarro at 15-1 from Post 5 is the longest price on the board here. Jimenez has horses elsewhere on the card, and 15-1 in an allowance race is a significant underlay for any serious wagering. Throwout.

Selections

Win: Probability (3) Place: Beach Invasion (2) Show: Go Yoshida (1)

Betting Strategy: The Ferraro barn running two horses in Posts 1 and 2 of the day's feature creates a tactical scenario. Box Probability (3), Beach Invasion (2), and Go Yoshida (1) in trifectas. Key Probability (3) on top in exactas with Beach Invasion (2) and Go Yoshida (1) underneath. The Pick 3 from Race 5 through Race 7 covering Pandemic Hero (2) into Probability (3) or Beach Invasion (2) into the Race 7 top choices is a quality multi-race sequence.

RACE 7 — Post (3:49)/2:49/1:49/12:49 — 1320f | D | CO | OClm 8000 | BUM | Purse $20,000

Ten fillies and mares line up in this optional claiming event at $8,000 going a mile on the main track. The OClm condition allows horses to run for a claiming price or remain unclaimed, giving connections the option of protecting their horses while still competing for the purse. The $20,000 purse is solid for this level, and the ten-horse field at a mile on the main track will see pace sorting out through the early going. The BUM designation (bottom up mares) makes this a female-only sprint.

Pace Analysis

Timely Reward (9) at 3-1 is the morning-line favorite from Post 9, an outside draw that will require some early energy to get position. Inouaintalkintome (8) at 5-1 from Post 8 pairs similarly. Miss Stones (2) for the Barrow stable with O. Gomez at 4-1 draws Post 2, which is the best inside position in what will be a contested ten-horse sprint. The pace should be honest to genuine in a ten-mare sprint at this level, and inside posts again carry a significant advantage at Finger Lakes in these one-turn events.

Key Contenders

Timely Reward (9), trained by Ilmar Loaiza with L.E. Perez at 3-1, is the morning-line choice despite the wide Post 9 draw. The 3-1 morning line from outside suggests genuine confidence from the connections and/or superior recent form. Perez has been riding for multiple stables today, and Loaiza placing the morning-line favorite at 3-1 from Post 9 suggests the horse has the early speed to overcome the draw. This is the race's key question: can Timely Reward overcome the outside to justify favoritism?

Miss Stones (2), trained by Paul Barrow with O. Gomez at 4-1, draws Post 2 with an ideal inside position in a ten-horse sprint. Barrow has been the most active trainer on today's card, and Gomez continues to ride for the barn throughout the afternoon. The 4-1 morning line with Post 2 in a ten-mare sprint at Finger Lakes is a strong combination. This horse may be the better play at a fair price relative to the outside-post favorite.

Secondary Choices

Inouaintalkintome (8) trained by Jose Merced with Carlos D. Camilo at 5-1 from Post 8 is a price play in the outside cluster. Merced has multiple runners today with regular riders, and 5-1 from Post 8 is a fair price if the horse has shown ability. Kaz Music (4) trained by Timothy Murphy with M.A. Davila Jr. at 6-1 draws Post 4, a manageable middle position. Murphy has horses throughout today's card and Davila is his regular pilot. At 6-1 this is a legitimate exotic inclusion.

Foxy Cara (6), trained by Joseph E. Marino with Steven Fret at 6-1, shares the price with Kaz Music from Post 6. Marino is a smaller operation and Fret is an active journeyman. The 6-1 price is fair value in a wide-open ten-horse field.

Longshots

She's A Freud (1) for Jonathan Buckley with Joel Cruz at 10-1 draws the rail but is priced at 10-1, suggesting the horse may be coming off a poor recent effort or facing a step up in company. Cruz gives the horse a quality rider and the rail post is a natural advantage. Lady Serenity (3) from the Englehart barn with Andre Shivnarine Worrie at 8-1 from Post 3 is a price play with a conditioner who has sent out multiple runners today. Fuhgeddaboudit (10) for Matthew Clarke with Rosario Montanez at 12-1 from the outside post is a throwout in a ten-horse sprint. Practical Rachel (7) and Numeric (5) at 20-1 and 25-1 respectively are throwouts.

Selections

Win: Miss Stones (2) Place: Timely Reward (9) Show: Inouaintalkintome (8)

Betting Strategy: Miss Stones (2) at 4-1 from Post 2 with Gomez is the value play over the 3-1 morning-line favorite coming from Post 9. Reverse the exacta between Miss Stones (2) and Timely Reward (9). In trifectas, spread the bottom with Kaz Music (4), Foxy Cara (6), and Inouaintalkintome (8) as legitimate finishers. This race is a natural Pick 3 anchor point going into Race 8.

RACE 8 — Post (4:18)/3:18/2:18/1:18 — 1210f | D | C | Clm 5000n2l | BUN | Purse $13,700

The closing race on the card is a twelve-horse maiden claiming sprint at $5,000 going approximately seven and a half furlongs on the main track. With twelve horses in the field, this is the most complex betting race of the day from a wagering standpoint, and the low $5,000 claiming tag attracts horses with limited ability. Fields of twelve at this level feature significant pace uncertainty and often produce surprising results at big prices. This is a mandatory-payout structure race for many tracks using it as the final leg of carryover pools, and value in multi-race wagers ending here should be constructed with wide, overlapping coverage.

Pace Analysis

A twelve-horse sprint creates a genuinely complicated early pace scenario. Strand Road (4) at 4-1 for Richard Dutrow Jr. is the most recognizable trainer on the card from a historical standpoint, and Dutrow placing a 4-1 morning-line horse in a $5,000 maiden claimer is worth attention. Valiant Warrior (8) at 3-1 for trainer Debra Breed with O. Gomez is the morning-line favorite. Army Proud (2) at 8-1 from Post 2 draws an inside post. Multiple horses will attempt to secure early position in this twelve-horse field, creating genuine pace pressure that could collapse in the stretch.

Key Contenders

Valiant Warrior (8), trained by Debra A. Breed with O. Gomez at 3-1, is the morning-line favorite and Gomez rides for the second time this afternoon in a featured capacity. The Breed-Gomez combination has been productive at this level, and the 3-1 morning line suggests the connections believe this horse has the most ability in the field. Gomez from Post 8 in a twelve-horse sprint will need to find position early, but his experience level makes this manageable.

Strand Road (4), trained by Richard E. Dutrow with Christopher Elliott at 4-1, is the race's most notable trainer-jockey angle. Dutrow is a Hall of Fame-caliber conditioner who won at the highest levels, and having his name on a $5,000 maiden claimer at Finger Lakes commands attention from a form cycle perspective. Elliott has been active all afternoon, and the 4-1 morning line from Post 4 in a sprint is competitive. Dutrow horses in these spots tend to be well-spotted.

Secondary Choices

I'm Mischievous (7) for Karl Grusmark with Jacqueline A. Davis at 5-1 from Post 7 is a fair price in a wide-open field. Grusmark is a consistent conditioner at this level, and Davis has been active throughout the card. At 5-1 from Post 7, this is a legitimate exacta and trifecta play.

Anmolo (12) trained by Nirka Huertas with Emanuel De Diego at 6-1 draws the extreme outside post in a twelve-horse sprint, which is a significant disadvantage at Finger Lakes. De Diego is capable enough to overcome some of the outside bias, and 6-1 is a fair price if the horse can find early position. Trifecta inclusion warranted.

Army Proud (2) for Timothy Murphy with M.A. Davila Jr. at 8-1 from Post 2 draws an inside post in what is otherwise a wide field. Murphy has had horses throughout today's card, and the inside post at 8-1 is an appealing price-to-post combination. Davila has been Murphy's regular rider all afternoon.

Longshots

Liv Has Rizz (9) for Chris Englehart with Andre Shivnarine Worrie at 12-1 is a price play from Post 9 with a trainer who has been active today. Stormy's Dreaming (5) at 10-1 from Post 5 for the Reed barn with L.E. Perez is a mid-price contender that Perez gives an upgrade to from a jockey standpoint. Eight Sunset Drive (1) from the Cook barn with C. Russell at 20-1 from the rail is a longshot from the best post, but the 20-1 morning line indicates limited form. Midnight Musume (3) for Rachel Sells with Wladimir Rengifo at 20-1 is a throwout. Cruising Cat (6) for Matthew Clarke with Sofia Vives at 20-1 is a throwout. Honor For Mandin (10) for Jose Armando Rohena with J.M. Rohena at 20-1 — the trainer-jockey pairing being from the same family suggests a private operation and is a throwout at this price. Just A Guy (11) trained by Donna Bireta with Jeremias Flores at 20-1 rounds out the longest prices in the field.

Selections

Win: Valiant Warrior (8) Place: Strand Road (4) Show: I'm Mischievous (7)

Betting Strategy: Key Valiant Warrior (8) on top in exactas and spread widely in trifectas given the twelve-horse field. The Dutrow angle on Strand Road (4) makes the reverse exacta Strand Road (4) over Valiant Warrior (8) worth a small play at the likely inflated price. In trifectas, key the top two on top and open the bottom to I'm Mischievous (7), Anmolo (12), Army Proud (2), and Liv Has Rizz (9) for potential payouts. This is the most unpredictable race on the card and should be approached with wide coverage in exotic wagers.

Jockey Notes and Insights

Keiber J. Coa emerges as the card's most in-demand rider, drawing mounts in Races 2, 3, 4, and 6. Coa on Saint Solomon (1) in Race 2, Warrior Bunny Zee (2) in Race 3, Keep 'em Honest (7) in Race 4, and Beach Invasion (2) in Race 6 for the Ferraro barn represents a full book of quality rides. When a jockey of Coa's caliber takes multiple mounts across a regional card, it often signals that multiple connections believe they have live horses. His inside posts in Race 2 and Race 3 and his pairing with the Ferraro barn in Race 6 are the key angles to watch.

Reylu Gutierrez rides in Races 1, 3, 4, and 5, giving him four mounts across the card. His assignment aboard Purpose (3) in Race 3 as the morning-line favorite is the marquee ride of the afternoon, and his presence on Schlomo (3) in Race 1 and Pandemic Hero (2) in Race 5 gives multiple connections quality representation.

Jose Baez rides in Races 1, 2, 3, and 4, taking mounts for the Kantarmaci barn and for D'Alessandro and Saul. Baez on Spirit Of Esther (6) in Race 1, Sunflower Alley (6) in Race 2, Tahila (1) in Race 3, and King Solomon (4) in Race 4 gives him a strong book. Baez's activity level on this card suggests he is among the circuit's current leaders.

O. Gomez rides for the Barrow barn throughout the card, appearing in Races 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8. His role as the Barrow stable's primary rider gives him tremendous context about which barn runners are pointed for winning efforts. His mounts on Well Documented (5) in Race 3, Concrete Kid (2) in Race 4, Propitious (1) in Race 5, Miss Stones (2) in Race 7, and Valiant Warrior (8) in Race 8 provide the full picture of a busy afternoon.

Christopher Elliott rides in Races 1, 3 (not listed for Elliott — correction: Elliott rides Solo Dancing (5) in Race 1, Probability (3) in Race 6, and Strand Road (4) in Race 8. The assignment on Probability (3) in the day's richest race is his marquee ride and reflects strong confidence from trainer Amelia Green.

Emanuel De Diego has five mounts across the card in Races 1, 2, 4, 5, and 8, riding Notfanutin (4) in Race 1, Hold The Phone (3) in Race 2, DE DIEGO on multiple rides. His volume of rides indicates he is an active competitor on this circuit.

L.E. Perez rides for the Ferraro barn in Race 4 and Race 6 as well as Timely Reward (9) in Race 7, giving him a productive book that spans the afternoon's mid-section to the closing race.

Trainer Notes and Insights

Paul Barrow is the card's most active trainer by volume, saddling horses in Races 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8. His runners include Annagenda (4) and Well Documented (5) in Race 3, Concrete Kid (2) in Race 4, Montauk Memoirs (7) in Race 5, Miss Stones (2) in Race 7, and an entry in Race 8. When a trainer saddles five horses on a single regional card, the pattern of which horses carry the primary rider (Gomez in this case) is a meaningful signal. Gomez on Concrete Kid (2) in Race 4 and Miss Stones (2) in Race 7 suggests those are the barn's more favored runners today.

M. Anthony Ferraro saddles runners in Race 1 (I'm Solo N In Love (1)), Race 4 (Trinity River (1)), and Race 6 (Go Yoshida (1) and Beach Invasion (2)). The Ferraro barn entering two horses in Race 6 with the two inside posts and the meet's best jockey (Coa) on Beach Invasion (2) while Perez rides Go Yoshida (1) is a strong multiple-angle play. Ferraro at Finger Lakes is a trainer to follow throughout the meet.

Ilkay Kantarmaci trains Schlomo (3) and Spirit Of Esther (6) in Race 1, while Mertkan Kantarmaci trains Nantz (2) in the same race. The Kantarmaci family running three horses in the opener is an unusual clustering that suggests these stables have a genuine feel for how the race is set up. Horseplayers should be aware that barn communication between connected trainers can influence pre-race strategy.

Jose Merced saddles Darby Dreams (4) in Race 2, Numeric (5) in Race 7, and Inouaintalkintome (8) in Race 7, with two runners in the same race. His primary focus on Race 7 with the 5-1 morning line on Inouaintalkintome (8) suggests that may be the sharper of the two entries.

Timothy Murphy trains Big Rich (6) in Race 6, Kaz Music (4) in Race 7, Reside (9) in Race 5, and Army Proud (2) in Race 8. Murphy's volume of runners today rivals Barrow's, and Davila Jr. riding most of Murphy's horses across the card is a consistent angle to track.

Chris Englehart trains Gramma G G (6) in Race 3, Lady Serenity (3) in Race 7, and Liv Has Rizz (9) in Race 8. Englehart is a respected regional conditioner with national experience, and his presence across multiple races today adds quality to each field.

Richard E. Dutrow training Strand Road (4) in Race 8 is the most historically notable trainer name on the card. Dutrow won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness with Big Brown, and his placement of a horse in a $5,000 maiden claimer at Finger Lakes — whatever the circumstances of his current career position — is worth acknowledging as a betting angle in the closer.

Best Wagering Strategies and Value Plays

The best value on the afternoon centers on several key angles that emerge from the card's structure.

Miss Stones (2) in Race 7 at 4-1 over the 3-1 morning-line favorite Timely Reward (9) from the disadvantaged Post 9 represents the card's best price-to-post-position value. The Barrow barn with Gomez from Post 2 in a ten-mare sprint at Finger Lakes is a strong handicapping angle, and 4-1 relative to the 3-1 morning-line shot from Post 9 makes this a genuine overlay play.

Beach Invasion (2) at 4-1 in Race 6 with Keiber J. Coa from Post 2 for the Ferraro barn is worth considering as a win play over the 2-1 favorite Probability (3). The Ferraro barn controlling Posts 1 and 2 in the day's feature with Coa on the second choice is the kind of trainer angle that produces results at regional circuits.

The Pick 4 from Race 5 through Race 8 is the card's marquee multi-race sequence. A suggested ticket: Pandemic Hero (2) in Race 5 with Probability (3) and Beach Invasion (2) in Race 6 with Miss Stones (2) and Timely Reward (9) in Race 7 with Valiant Warrior (8) and Strand Road (4) in Race 8. This $1 ticket with 1 x 2 x 2 x 2 coverage runs $8 and targets the most competitive stretch of the afternoon.

The Pick 3 from Races 6 through 8 using Probability (3) or Beach Invasion (2) into Miss Stones (2) into Valiant Warrior (8) is the tightest single-ticket play and offers a fair payout if the three selections hold.

The exacta in Race 6 boxing Probability (3), Beach Invasion (2), and Go Yoshida (1) for the three-horse box at $1 costs $6 and covers the most likely outcomes in the day's richest race.

In Race 8, the twelve-horse field with multiple 20-1 morning-line entries creates genuine trifecta value. Keying Valiant Warrior (8) and Strand Road (4) on top and opening the trifecta bottom to five or six horses gives reasonable coverage without significant cost. The expected trifecta payout in a twelve-horse maiden claiming sprint at $5,000 with short prices on the favorites should produce a meaningful return on a modest investment.

The daily double Race 7 into Race 8 using Miss Stones (2) and Timely Reward (9) into Valiant Warrior (8) and Strand Road (4) as a two-by-two $1 ticket costs $4 and anchors the closing two-race sequence nicely.

For horseplayers who prefer win betting, Pandemic Hero (2) in Race 5 at 3-1 with the ideal post draw and a quality rider is the card's best straight win play. Miss Stones (2) in Race 7 at 4-1 with the post-position edge is the best win value. These two horses represent the afternoon's most bankable win selections based on the convergence of post position, jockey quality, trainer form, and morning-line price.
