Race Day Overview — Belmont at the Big A | Saturday, May 2, 2026

Today's card at Belmont at the Big A arrives on a historically significant afternoon. The 2026 meet represents the final season of live racing at Aqueduct Racetrack, a venue that has hosted New York racing since 1894. The spring/summer meet is operating under the Belmont at the Big A banner while the new Belmont Park facility continues its development on Long Island. The card carries ten races across dirt and turf with a ten-race sequence that spans claiming, maiden, stakes, and allowance company.

The centerpiece of today's program is Race 4, the Fort Marcy Stakes at Grade 3 level, a $175,000 turf route at 1980 furlongs that draws one of the stronger local allowance-quality turf fields of the spring meet. The Elusive Quality Stakes in Race 8 adds a second black-type contest to the card, a $150,000 turf sprint that promises fireworks at seven furlongs on the inner oval.

Jockey Manny Franco topped the standings at the concluded Aqueduct spring meet, while trainer Linda Rice once again asserted her dominance at the Big A, repeating as training leader. Both figures carry momentum into this final chapter of racing at the historic Queens oval. Rice has multiple representatives across the card today and figures prominently in several key spots.

The card also spotlights the ongoing presence of Chad Brown, Todd Pletcher, William Mott, and Claude McGaughey III in stakes and allowance company, while the claiming ranks showcase the depth of the New York circuit's mid-level horses.

Weather and Track Conditions

The forecast for Jamaica, Queens on Saturday, May 2 calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid-60s Fahrenheit. Winds are expected out of the southwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour. No significant precipitation is anticipated through post time for the final race, giving the card a clean weather window throughout the afternoon and evening program.

The main dirt track at Aqueduct is expected to be fast. The turf course, which has been receiving regular maintenance as the meet progresses into spring, is anticipated to be firm to good. Inner turf courses at Aqueduct have historically played fairly honest in dry conditions, though the rail position has shown some advantage in shorter turf sprints during early season meets when the ground is compact. Track maintenance crews have been attentive to the turf course as the meet enters its premium stakes weekend, and conditions appear favorable for front-running and pace-pressuring types on both surfaces.

Track Bias and Post Position Analysis

The Aqueduct main track under fast conditions historically plays with a slight speed bias, particularly in sprints. Horses that can secure good early position and settle in the two-path tend to run well, and the rail in dirt sprints is not the death draw it can be at some other tracks, particularly at the seven-furlong and one-mile distances. In longer dirt routes at Aqueduct, inside posts can create traffic issues early but do not carry the same penalty as at one-turn tracks.

On the inner turf at Aqueduct, the bias tends to favor horses that can get a good position early and save ground. In route races on the turf, inside posts are premium draws as horses can save ground on the turns and the rail is typically well-maintained through the stakes weekend. The inner turf sprint course at seven furlongs historically rewards horses with tactical speed that can settle in behind the pace and pounce at the top of the stretch. Extreme outside posts at seven furlongs on the inner turf require a wider trip and carry a modest disadvantage.

Race 1 — Post 12:50 — 1980f | D | C | Clm 25000 | CUN | Purse $55,000

A one-and-a-quarter mile claiming event on the main track for open company at the $25,000 level. The purse of $55,000 indicates a reasonably competitive field for this level. Seven horses are entered and the race should see a genuine pace develop given the presence of speed types and closers spread across the posts. The distance rewards horses with stamina and good ground-saving ability.

Race 1

Pace Analysis

This race sets up as a potentially honest pace scenario at the route distance. Military Road (1) and Indy Rags (5), stablemates for trainer Ilkay Kantarmaci, are likely to be prominent early. Hey Porter (6) has tactical speed and may also press for position around the first turn. The pace should be honest enough to set up for a closer, but the question is whether any deep closers in this field have enough kick to reel in a properly rated pace horse.

Key Contenders

Frizzante (7) draws the outside post under trainer Linda Rice and Jose Lezcano, the meet's most formidable combination. Rice's horses at the Big A have been consistently well-prepared through the meet, and Frizzante (7) is the morning line favorite at 2-1. Lezcano has been riding in sharp form and knows this track extremely well. At the route distance in claiming company at this level, Rice's horses tend to be well-suited to stretch-running assignments and Frizzante (7) should benefit from a clear trip from post 7 without early traffic concerns.

Indy Rags (5) represents the stronger of the Kantarmaci pair based on morning line respect at 4-1. Edgard Zayas, one of the steadier riders at this meet, climbs aboard. Kantarmaci has been a fixture at this meet and his horses have been consistently placed in appropriate spots. Indy Rags (5) from post 5 gets a clean trip and should be near the pace from an advantageous middle position.

Secondary Choices

Military Road (1) opens at 3-1 and also trains for Kantarmaci, this time with Silvestre Gonzalez up. The rail post in a ten-furlong dirt route at Aqueduct is manageable if the horse breaks cleanly, but figuring out which of the Kantarmaci pair the barn prefers is part of the puzzle here. Military Road (1) showed enough on the morning line to suggest the barn thinks he can compete, but Indy Rags (5) projects as the likelier intended winner of the two.

Hermoso Hombre (4) at 6-1 for Michael Pino with Jamie Rodriguez is a contender to consider. Pino has been a reliable presence in New York claiming ranks for years and his horses tend to run their races consistently. Rodriguez has been active and in reasonable form on the meet.

Longshots

Hey Porter (6) at 6-1 with Dylan Davis for trainer Josue Arce is capable of running into the exotics if he can get a clean trip pressing the pace. First Trumpet (2) at 8-1 for Naipaul Chatterpaul with Ricardo Santana Jr. is a longer shot who could factor if the pace melts down in front of him. Texas Red Hot (3) at 12-1 for Wayne Potts with Gokhan Kocakaya is the longest price and likely a pace fodder candidate in this spot.

Betting Strategy

The Rice-Lezcano combination with Frizzante (7) at 2-1 is a legitimate win choice, but the overlay potential lies with Indy Rags (5) at 4-1 given the dual Kantarmaci threat and the superior post. An exacta pairing Frizzante (7) over Indy Rags (5) and Hermoso Hombre (4) makes sense, as does a small trifecta box involving the top three along with Hey Porter (6).

Selections

Win: Frizzante (7) Place: Indy Rags (5) Show: Hermoso Hombre (4)

Race 2 — Post 1:22 — 1320f | D | C | Clm 20000b | BUN | Purse $37,000

A one-turn mile sprint on the main track for claiming horses at $20,000 with the b-condition designation indicating horses that have not won two races. Seven horses are entered and the pace figures to be contested with multiple speed types.

Race 2

Pace Analysis

Gunner Bay (1) from the rail for Michael Miceli with Dylan Davis is likely to establish early command on the front end. Princip (3) with Zayas for Kantarmaci will also be looking for early position. Schlomo (7) with Lezcano for William Mott is expected to come from off the pace. The key question is whether Gunner Bay (1) can sustain a front-running effort against this field at the claiming level or whether the pace will set up for one of the stalkers.

Key Contenders

Schlomo (7) for Hall of Fame trainer William Mott with Jose Lezcano at 2-1 co-favorite is the class of this field in terms of connections. Mott's horses at this claiming level are typically well-spotted and come fit. Schlomo (7) from post 7 will get a clean trip and Lezcano will be able to rate and find a spot in the two-path behind whatever pace develops. This combination is hard to dismiss even at the short price.

Gunner Bay (1) at 2-1 co-favorite for Miceli with Davis from the rail is the other price leader. Davis has been busy and effective at this meet and the rail in a one-mile sprint at Aqueduct is workable. Gunner Bay (1) has the tactical advantage of the inside post and should be able to establish position easily in a seven-horse field.

Secondary Choices

Grand Commander (6) at 6-1 for Kantarmaci with Gonzalez is the stable's second entry alongside Princip (3). Kantarmaci runners from mid-posts in sprint company have been competitive and Grand Commander (6) could be the intended winner of the pair, particularly at a slightly more generous price.

Nantz (4) at 8-1 for Carlos Martin with Ricardo Santana Jr. represents a trainer who operates primarily at the higher end of the New York claiming ladder but who will occasionally drop horses to this level looking for a score. Santana's presence is a positive angle.

Longshots

Princip (3) at 8-1 is the other Kantarmaci runner and may serve as a pace factor. Panagiotis (5) at 10-1 for Dimitrios Synnefias with Rodriguez is a longer shot in a barn that operates at the bottom of the claiming ladder. Epitaph (2) at 12-1 for Potts with Dalila Rivera is a deep longshot in this spot.

Betting Strategy

The Schlomo (7) and Gunner Bay (1) co-favorites present a classic pace-versus-closer scenario. Using both in exactas with Grand Commander (6) and Nantz (4) as underneath options is prudent. A straight exacta of Gunner Bay (1) over Schlomo (7) at a potential overlay return is worth a play if the pace holds.

Selections

Win: Schlomo (7) Place: Gunner Bay (1) Show: Grand Commander (6)

Race 3 — Post 2:00 — 1540f | D | M | Md 12500 | BUN | Purse $27,000

A nine-and-a-half furlong maiden claiming event on the main track at the $12,500 level. Eight horses are entered in this bottom-of-the-ladder route. These races can be unpredictable, but trainer and jockey connections often point the way in maiden claiming routes at this price.

Race 3

Pace Analysis

Gualillo (6) with Kocakaya for Fernando Abreu from post 6 figures to be forwardly placed. Cat Fast (1) with Santana for De Paz from the rail could also factor on the front end. Bellamy (8) with Rivera for Linda Rice is expected to come from off the pace. The pace should be moderate given the route distance and the quality of competition, setting up for a stalker or closer.

Key Contenders

Bellamy (8) at 2-1 for Rice with Dalila Rivera is the morning line favorite and carries the full weight of the top trainer at this meet. Rice has demonstrated a consistent ability to win maiden claiming routes with horses entering this level appropriately, and Bellamy (8) is well-spotted from the outside post. Rivera has been one of the more effective female riders in the New York colony and she and Rice have teamed up successfully at this meet.

Beck's Dreamer (7) at 4-1 for Wayne Potts with Edgard Zayas is the second choice and a legitimate contender. Potts operates effectively at the lower maiden claiming levels and Zayas is a consistent performer. Beck's Dreamer (7) from post 7 is well-placed to track the pace and make a move at the top of the stretch.

Secondary Choices

Gualillo (6) at 3-1 for Abreu with Kocakaya is the third choice on the morning line. In maiden claiming routes, front-running types can be dangerous if they get easy fractions and the field lacks the kick to run them down. Gualillo (6) at 3-1 represents fair value if he can control the pace.

Isola D'oro (4) at 6-1 for Lisa Lugovich with Omar Hernandez Moreno and Cat Fast (1) at 6-1 for De Paz with Santana are both mid-range prices that could factor in the exotics.

Longshots

Reign It In (5) at 8-1 for Charlton Baker with Davis and Lough Currane (3) at 8-1 for John Terranova II with Rodriguez are the next tier. Trapping Hands (2) at 20-1 for Roshan Samsundar with Villa Pino Favinho is the longest price and a throwout at these odds in this company.

Betting Strategy

Use Bellamy (8) on top of the exacta and trifecta with Beck's Dreamer (7) and Gualillo (6) underneath. A small trifecta wheel with Bellamy (8) on top, Beck's Dreamer (7) and Gualillo (6) in second, and the field in third is a cost-effective structure.

Selections

Win: Bellamy (8) Place: Beck's Dreamer (7) Show: Gualillo (6)

Race 4 — Post 2:28 — 1980f | T | G3 | Fort Marcy-G3 | CUN | Purse $175,000

The Grade 3 Fort Marcy Stakes is today's featured event, contested at one and a quarter miles on the turf. Eight horses are entered in what shapes up as a genuinely competitive stakes. The Fort Marcy has traditionally drawn solid New York-based turf routers and the morning line reflects a tight, competitive field with two horses sharing the 1-1 co-favorite billing.

Race 4

Pace Analysis

This is a one-and-a-quarter mile turf route where the pace is expected to be moderate to honest. Ridari (1) for Miguel Clement with Rodriguez from the inside post could be near the pace. Montador (3) with Lezcano for Michael Stidham will also be forwardly placed. Deterministic (5) for Clement with Carmouche at 1-1 co-favorite and Yo Daddy (6) for Rice with Lezcano at 1-1 co-favorite are likely to be stalking types. The inside posts on the turf at Aqueduct are premium draws in route races, and Ridari (1) and Battle Of Normandy (2) benefit from the rail-side draw.

Key Contenders

Deterministic (5) at 1-1 co-favorite for Miguel Clement with Kendrick Carmouche is the top turf selection from one of New York's most accomplished turf trainers. Clement has won this race before and he clearly has Deterministic (5) pointed for this spot. Carmouche has been riding with confidence and handles turf horses exceptionally well. Post 5 in a turf route is workable and should allow a ground-saving trip along the rail if the pace sets up correctly.

Yo Daddy (6) at 1-1 co-favorite for Linda Rice with Jose Lezcano shares the top billing, and this combination has been winning at a remarkable clip through the meet. Rice's turf horses are exceptionally well-prepared and LEZCANO knows the nuances of this inner turf course better than almost anyone. Yo Daddy (6) from post 6 will need to find cover early but the connections are capable of executing a winning trip from this draw.

Secondary Choices

Montador (3) at 4-1 for Michael Stidham with Lezcano from post 3 is a significant contender. Stidham has been a productive trainer in stakes company on the New York circuit and Montador (3) has a workable inside draw. Note that Lezcano is listed as the jockey for both Montador (3) and Yo Daddy (6), which suggests a rider change will be made before the race. If LEZCANO rides Yo Daddy (6) as the higher-profile connection, another jockey will be required for Montador (3).

Dr. Kraft (7) at 4-1 for Kantarmaci with Gonzalez is a price worth considering in a race where the top two choices share the same morning line. Kantarmaci has shown an ability to win at the stakes level at Aqueduct and GONZALEZ has been effective throughout the meet.

Longshots

Ridari (1) at 2-1 for Clement with Rodriguez from the premium post 1 on turf is interesting at a relatively generous price. Clement entering two horses and Ridari (1) being priced at 2-1 on the morning line suggests the trainer respects this horse's chances despite the secondary billing. Battle Of Normandy (2) at 6-1 for Claude McGaughey III with Davis is a barn that has won the Fort Marcy before. McGaughey rarely sends horses to stakes without believing they belong. Uncatalyzed (4) at 5-1 for Chad Brown with Santana is a Chad Brown turf router, which automatically demands respect in any New York turf route. Brown's record with turf routers is unrivaled in the sport and Uncatalyzed (4) is a live contender despite the secondary morning line price. Mr. Papagiorgio (8) at 6-1 for Richard Dutrow with a TBA rider is a factor to watch, though the TBA rider is a slight concern that requires confirmation before wagering.

Betting Strategy

The co-favorite scenario with Deterministic (5) and Yo Daddy (6) sharing 1-1 odds creates a situation where both may be underlays in the win pool. The value plays are Uncatalyzed (4) at 5-1 for Chad Brown and Ridari (1) at 2-1 who gets the premium inside post on turf. Using Deterministic (5) and Yo Daddy (6) underneath price horses in the exacta and trifecta is the correct structure. A trifecta box of Deterministic (5), Yo Daddy (6), and Uncatalyzed (4) with Ridari (1) added as a saver offers the best return structure.

Selections

Win: Deterministic (5) Place: Yo Daddy (6) Show: Uncatalyzed (4)

Race 5 — Post 2:55 — 1870f | t | M | Md 50000 | BUN | Purse $48,000

A maiden special weight event on the inner turf at one and three-sixteenth miles. Nine horses are entered in this route for maidens at the $50,000 purchase price level. Maiden turf routes at Aqueduct at this distance can be dominated by horses with experience at the route distance on turf, and pedigree is a significant factor.

Race 5

Pace Analysis

The pace in this maiden turf route should be moderate given the distance and the maiden conditions. Deemer (7) for Keri Brion with Carmouche at 3-1 and Savvylicious (8) for Clement with Rodriguez at 4-1 are the likely stalking types. G Five (6) for Michelle Nevin with Gutierrez at 5-1 may also factor into the early pace picture. Powered By Coal (9) for Mark Hennig with Lezcano from the outside post will need a strong pace to make up ground.

Key Contenders

Deemer (7) at 3-1 for Keri Brion with Carmouche is the morning line favorite. Brion has developed a solid reputation for placing first-time turf starters and turf route maidens effectively in New York, and Deemer (7) with Carmouche in the irons is a formidable pairing. The 3-1 price suggests handicappers respect this horse's credentials.

Savvylicious (8) at 4-1 for Clement with Rodriguez is the second choice on the morning line. Clement's maiden turf starters deserve respect as he is one of the best conditioners of turf horses in the country, and his horses from the Savvylicious (8) post draw at 8 should get a clear trip in a moderate field.

Secondary Choices

G Five (6) at 5-1 for Nevin with Gutierrez is the third choice and represents a barn that has had productive meet results. Free Refills (3) at 6-1 for Brion with Davis is the stablemate of Deemer (7), giving Brion two entries in this race. Mosconi (4) at 6-1 for Harold James Bond with Zayas is a contender in a field where the Bond barn has placed horses effectively at the maiden level.

Longshots

Royal Ascendshin (5) at 8-1 for Thomas Morley with Santana and Powered By Coal (9) at 8-1 for Hennig with Lezcano are the next tier. Probe (2) at 12-1 for Robert Ribaudo with Rivera is a longer shot. Pilot Knob (1) at 15-1 for Bruce Brown with Luis Rivera Jr. from the rail is a deep longshot in maiden turf company from a barn that is less active on the turf circuit.

Betting Strategy

Deemer (7) and Savvylicious (8) are the class of the field based on connections. Use both on top in exactas and underneath each other. G Five (6) and Free Refills (3) deserve inclusion in trifecta structures as the secondary contenders. The Brion double-entry of Deemer (7) and Free Refills (3) is worth noting for value construction.

Selections

Win: Deemer (7) Place: Savvylicious (8) Show: G Five (6)

Race 6 — Post 3:32 — 1430f | D | C | Clm 55000n2l | BUN | Purse $57,000

A nine-furlong dirt route for claiming horses at $55,000 that have not won two races. Seven horses are entered and the field includes horses from several elite-level trainers, making this a competitive mid-card affair despite the claiming conditions.

Race 6

Pace Analysis

The pace scenario in this route is shaped significantly by Sea Vista (5) at 1-1 for Brad Cox with Rodriguez. Cox is one of the top trainers in North America and a 1-1 morning line favorite from his barn commands respect. Morlock (1) with Lezcano for Rice and Favorite Day (7) at 2-1 for Kenneth McPeek with Gutierrez will be the primary challengers. The pace should be honest given the route distance and competitive nature of the field.

Key Contenders

Sea Vista (5) at 1-1 for Brad Cox with Rodriguez is the dominant morning line choice. Cox sharpens horses for this exact level of claiming competition and his win percentage at meet-level is exceptional. Rodriguez from post 5 gets the ideal middle draw in a route and should have no trouble placing Sea Vista (5) in a stalking position behind whatever pace develops. At 1-1, the horse may be an underlay in the win pool, but the connections make it impossible to oppose on top.

Favorite Day (7) at 2-1 for McPeek with Gutierrez is the other primary contender. McPeek ships horses to New York selectively and when he does, they tend to be well-prepared. Favorite Day (7) from the outside post with Gutierrez up represents strong value at 2-1 given the trainer's national reputation and the horse's positioning in the betting.

Secondary Choices

Morlock (1) at 5-1 for Rice with Lezcano from the rail is a legitimate threat. Rice and Lezcano winning from the rail at Aqueduct in a route is a very realistic outcome given this combination's success rate at the meet. Morlock (1) at 5-1 may actually be a value play against the heavy favorites.

Toga D'oro (2) at 8-1 for Richard Dutrow with Santana is a price worth considering. Dutrow's horses at the $55,000 claiming level in route company have occasionally been well-meant, and Santana is one of the top riders at the meet.

Longshots

Seeker's Hope (3) at 12-1 for Samsundar with Rivera is a long shot in this class. First Blessing (4) at 15-1 for Jose Jimenez with Zayas is the longest price in the field. Momentum Files (6) at 8-1 for Rudy Rodriguez with Kocakaya is also a longer shot but could factor in exotics.

Betting Strategy

Sea Vista (5) at 1-1 is likely the correct win choice but is too short to generate significant win value. The better play is to use Sea Vista (5) with Favorite Day (7) and Morlock (1) in exactas and trifectas. A Sea Vista (5) single on top with Favorite Day (7), Morlock (1), and Toga D'oro (2) in the bottom three spots of a trifecta offers solid return potential.

Selections

Win: Sea Vista (5) Place: Favorite Day (7) Show: Morlock (1)

Race 7 — Post 4:16 — 1320f | D | M | Md 20000 | BUM | Purse $35,000

A one-turn mile sprint on the main track for maiden claiming horses at the $20,000 level for males. Nine horses are entered and the field includes two strong co-favorites at 2-1 each. These male maiden claiming sprints can be competitive and trainer/jockey angles are crucial at this level.

Race 7

Pace Analysis

This is a one-mile sprint for maiden claimers and the pace should be honest given the number of horses likely to want early position. Barbour County (2) with Davis for Joe Sharp and Chardonnay Derby (9) with Lezcano for Rice are the co-favorites and both are likely to have early tactical speed. The question is whether the pace collapses in front of a closer or if the field stretches out the frontrunners.

Key Contenders

Chardonnay Derby (9) at 2-1 for Rice with Lezcano from post 9 carries the same elite meet combination that has been dominating the card. In maiden claiming sprints at this level, the Rice-Lezcano pairing has been particularly effective and Chardonnay Derby (9) rates as the top selection despite the outside post.

Barbour County (2) at 2-1 for Joe Sharp with Davis from post 2 is the other co-favorite. Sharp is a trainer who wins at a solid clip in maiden claiming company and post 2 in a one-mile sprint at Aqueduct is a very manageable draw. Davis has been active and effective throughout this meet.

Secondary Choices

Bengalese (3) at 6-1 for Oscar Barrera III with Jose Baez is a price horse from a barn that operates at this level consistently. Vivienna (8) at 6-1 for David Donk with Rivera is a contender from a trainer who places horses effectively in maiden claiming sprints.

Longshots

All Of My Whatif's (1) at 15-1 for Rachel Sells with Gutierrez from the rail is a deep longshot. My Devine One (4) at 12-1 and Covert Affair (6) at 10-1 are both Kantarmaci runners — the barn having two entries suggests they may split the action in exotic wagering. My Daughters' Gift (5) at 12-1 for Edmund Pringle with Eric Cancel is a distant threat. Kef (7) at 20-1 for Barrera III with Luis Pena is the longest price in the field.

Betting Strategy

Use Chardonnay Derby (9) and Barbour County (2) in the top two spots of exactas and trifectas. Bengalese (3) and Vivienna (8) round out the trifecta structure at reasonable prices. A small exacta box of the two co-favorites at even money return would pay modest but reliable returns.

Selections

Win: Chardonnay Derby (9) Place: Barbour County (2) Show: Bengalese (3)

Race 8 — Post 4:58 — 1320f | t | N | Elusive Quality L150k | CUN | Purse $150,000

The Elusive Quality Stakes is a $150,000 non-graded stakes event on the inner turf at seven furlongs for open company. Ten horses are entered in this inner turf sprint, which is one of the most competitive races on the card. The field includes multiple sharp turf sprinters and the pace figures to be honest to fast at this distance. This is today's second black-type stakes.

Race 8

Pace Analysis

The seven-furlong inner turf sprint at Aqueduct is a race where tactical speed and good position in the first half-mile are paramount. Twenty Six Black (3) at 1-1 for De Paz with Rodriguez is the dominant morning line choice and likely to dictate or press the pace. Clock Tower (6) at 3-1 for Wesley Ward with Davis is another horse Ward traditionally has running prominently. Waralo (1) for Englehart with Santana from the rail will also be trying to establish early position. The pace should be swift and honest, setting up for a potential off-the-pace move.

Key Contenders

Twenty Six Black (3) at 1-1 for Horacio De Paz with Rodriguez is the heavy morning line choice. De Paz has been an active trainer at the Big A and Twenty Six Black (3) has been installed as the dominant favorite in this stakes. Rodriguez in a stakes race at Aqueduct on the turf sprint is a combination that has been productive this meet. The 1-1 morning line suggests significant class or form advantage, but in turf sprints, pace can neutralize even quality horses.

Acoustic Ave (7) at 2-1 for Rice with Lezcano is a co-favorite contender and the Rice-Lezcano combination has been unstoppable at this meet. In a turf sprint stakes, Rice typically has her horses well-prepared and Acoustic Ave (7) from post 7 will get a clean run in the two-path. This is a very live horse at a price that represents fair value.

Secondary Choices

Clock Tower (6) at 3-1 for Wesley Ward with Davis is a significant threat. Ward is one of the premier trainers of turf sprinters in North America and routinely wins at the stakes level in this format. Post 6 on the inner turf at seven furlongs is a workable draw and Davis knows this track. Clock Tower (6) is the value play in this race.

Dancing Buck (5) at 5-1 for Nevin with Luis Rivera Jr. is a mid-price contender. Nevin's horses have shown consistent form on the turf at this meet and Dancing Buck (5) from the middle of the pack could be a genuine player at a reasonable price.

Longshots

Waralo (1) at 4-1 for Englehart with Santana from the rail is interesting as a pace-setting type. Spiced Up (4) at 8-1 for Mott with Lezcano carries the prestige of the Mott barn, though Lezcano is also listed for Acoustic Ave (7), meaning a rider change will be confirmed before post time. Son Of A Birch (2) at 8-1 for Falcone with Carmouche is a price horse who could factor in exotics. Ignite The Light (8) at 2-1 for Dutrow with a TBA rider and Willintoriskitall (9) at 10-1 for Dutrow with TBA are two Dutrow entries whose rider situations require clarification before wagering. Shoot The Nickel (10) at 15-1 for Kantarmaci with Gonzalez is the longest price in the field.

Betting Strategy

Twenty Six Black (3) at 1-1 is likely an underlay in the win pool. Clock Tower (6) at 3-1 represents genuine value given Ward's record with turf sprinters in stakes company. Acoustic Ave (7) and Clock Tower (6) deserve focus in exactas. A trifecta box of Twenty Six Black (3), Clock Tower (6), and Acoustic Ave (7) is the cornerstone wager. Confirm rider assignments for the two Dutrow entries before finalizing exotic tickets.

Selections

Win: Clock Tower (6) Place: Acoustic Ave (7) Show: Twenty Six Black (3)

Race 9 — Post 5:26 — 1760f | D | C | Clm 20000n2l | BUN | Purse $36,000

A one-and-a-tenth mile dirt route for claiming horses at $20,000 that have not won two races. Eight horses are entered in this mid-card claiming route that figures to be competitive based on the tight morning line with multiple horses bunched at 3-1 to 4-1.

Race 9

Pace Analysis

Whitby (2) at 3-1 for Mark Hennig with Rodriguez from post 2 is likely to be forwardly placed. Reside (4) for Amelia Green with Davis at 4-1 is also a pace factor. The pace at one and one-tenth miles on the dirt should be honest and set up for a stalker or closer in a field of eight.

Key Contenders

Whitby (2) at 3-1 for Hennig with Rodriguez from post 2 is the morning line choice. Hennig is an accomplished trainer on the New York circuit and his horses at the claiming level in routes are consistently well-prepared. Rodriguez from post 2 gets a favorable inside draw in the route and should save plenty of ground. Whitby (2) is the top selection in this race.

Thorsness (3) at 4-1 for Jeremiah Englehart with Carmouche from post 3 is a significant threat. Englehart is an active and effective trainer at the claiming level in New York and Thorsness (3) alongside Whitby (2) sets up a genuine speed duel if both try to establish position early.

Secondary Choices

Into Inspiration (1) at 4-1 for Jose Jimenez with Rivera from the rail is a contender from a barn that operates comfortably at this claiming level. Reside (4) at 4-1 for Green with Davis from post 4 is the final 4-1 co-choice and represents the Green barn, which has been solid at this meet.

Noguchi (5) at 6-1 for Rice with Santana is the Rice entry in this race and carries the usual meet-defining combination weight. Rice with Santana in place of Lezcano is still a strong pairing and Noguchi (5) at 6-1 could represent value if the top choices disappoint.

Longshots

Natural Hunk (6) at 6-1 for James Ferraro with Zayas is a mid-price contender. Never Say Uncle (7) at 15-1 for Terranova with Gutierrez is a long shot. Daytona Moonshine (8) at 15-1 for Norman Follett with Kocakaya is the longest price in the field.

Betting Strategy

Whitby (2) on top in exactas and trifectas with Thorsness (3), Into Inspiration (1), and Noguchi (5) in the bottom spots. The clustering of 4-1 horses creates opportunity in the exacta if any of the secondary choices runs better than expected.

Selections

Win: Whitby (2) Place: Thorsness (3) Show: Noguchi (5)

Race 10 — Post 5:54 — 1870f | T | CO | OClm 45000 | BUN | Purse $70,000

An optional claiming route at $45,000 on the turf at one and three-sixteenth miles for open company. Eleven horses are entered in this large-field turf route, making it one of the day's most challenging handicapping problems. Magnanimous Max (10) for Rice with Lezcano opens as the 1-1 morning line favorite.

Race 10

Pace Analysis

With eleven horses entered at one and three-sixteenth miles on turf, the pace should be moderate. Magnanimous Max (10) from post 10 will need to navigate a wide trip or find a seam if Rice intends to save ground. The Obliterator (11) at 3-1 for Dutrow with TBA from the outside post has the worst draw in the field. Freaky (3) for Pletcher with Lezcano at 5-1 from post 3 gets a prime inside draw. Multiple horses will be competing for early position from the inside posts.

Key Contenders

Magnanimous Max (10) at 1-1 for Rice with Lezcano is the dominant morning line choice despite the wide post draw. Rice has been winning at a remarkable clip at this meet and Lezcano has demonstrated an ability to pilot horses from wide posts into winning positions on the turf at Aqueduct. At 1-1, this is likely the win choice for the public, but the post position creates genuine concern in a large-field turf route.

Freaky (3) at 5-1 for Todd Pletcher with Lezcano from post 3 is listed with Lezcano as well, creating a potential rider conflict with Magnanimous Max (10). One of these horses will require a jockey change. Pletcher's turf routers in optional claiming company are historically dangerous and Freaky (3) from the inside post 3 could be the value play of the race if Lezcano rides this horse instead of the Rice entry.

Secondary Choices

The Obliterator (11) at 3-1 for Dutrow with TBA from the far outside is a contender once the rider situation is clarified. Dylan's Ruby (1) at 4-1 for John Servis with Carmouche from the rail is a solid contender. Inside posts in turf routes at Aqueduct are premium draws and Dylan's Ruby (1) with Carmouche from post 1 could be a significant factor.

Kulapat (6) at 5-1 for Michael Maker with Zayas is a horse from one of the most respected turf trainers in North America. Maker's optional claiming turf horses are consistently well-meant and Kulapat (6) at 5-1 with Zayas represents genuine value.

Longshots

Sandborn (5) at 4-1 for Cherie Devaux with Eric Cancel is a mid-price horse from an active barn. Complex Agenda (4) at 6-1 for Morley with Santana is a contender. Mr Flowers (7) at 6-1 for Jamie Ness with Davis is a price horse who could factor in exotics. The Paddock Pastor (2) at 8-1 for Green with Rodriguez is an outside shot. American Grant (8) at 12-1 for Bruce Brown with Luis Rivera Jr. is a longer shot. Leftembehind (9) at 15-1 for Rudy Rodriguez with Kocakaya is the deepest longshot in the field.

Betting Strategy

Resolve rider assignments for Magnanimous Max (10) and Freaky (3) and the Dutrow entry The Obliterator (11) before constructing exotic tickets. Use Magnanimous Max (10) as the win single but use Dylan's Ruby (1) and Kulapat (6) as underneath horses to generate exotic value. A trifecta box of Magnanimous Max (10), Dylan's Ruby (1), and Kulapat (6) with Freaky (3) added covers the primary scenarios.

Selections

Win: Magnanimous Max (10) Place: Dylan's Ruby (1) Show: Kulapat (6)

Race 11 — Post 6:24 — 1320f | t | M | Md 50000 | BUN | Purse $48,000

The final race of the card is a maiden special weight event on the inner turf at seven furlongs for open company at the $50,000 level. Ten horses are entered and the field carries several interesting trainer-jockey combinations for the nightcap.

Race 11

Pace Analysis

My Munny Talks (3) at 4-1 for Charlton Baker with Davis from post 3 is likely to be forwardly placed. Hot Off The Beach (6) at 5-1 for Dutrow with Lezcano and Pretrial Statement (1) at 5-1 for Lisa Bartkowski with Rodriguez are also potential pace factors. The inner turf at seven furlongs in maiden company should produce a moderate pace with multiple horses seeking early position.

Key Contenders

My Munny Talks (3) at 4-1 for Baker with Davis is the morning line co-choice. Baker has been active at this meet and Davis is one of the more accomplished jockeys on the circuit. Post 3 on the inner turf is a prime draw in a seven-furlong maiden turf sprint.

Mykonos (8) at 6-1 for Michael Maker with Santana is the Maker entry in a maiden turf sprint, and given Maker's extraordinary record with turf maidens, Mykonos (8) deserves serious consideration. Maker consistently places turf maidens for life and Mykonos (8) at 6-1 could be the value of the race.

Secondary Choices

Hot Off The Beach (6) at 5-1 for Dutrow with Lezcano is a contender once confirmed. Out Of The Fog (5) at 6-1 for Jena Antonucci with Zayas is from a barn that has produced consistent turf performers. Pretrial Statement (1) at 5-1 for Bartkowski with Rodriguez from the rail is a price horse who could be dangerous if she gets a clean trip along the inside.

Counter Move (9) at 6-1 for George Weaver with Rivera is another trainer with a strong turf record and Counter Move (9) at 6-1 deserves inclusion in exotic structures.

Longshots

Golden Joker (2) at 8-1 for Clement with Gutierrez is interesting given Clement's turf record. Until Last Call (7) at 8-1 for James Ryerson with Carmouche is a price horse. Whiskey Runner (4) at 20-1 for Bruce Brown with Katie Davis is a deep longshot. Naz (10) at 20-1 for Kevin Bond with Luis Rivera Jr. is the longest price in the field.

Betting Strategy

Use My Munny Talks (3) and Mykonos (8) as the primary exacta pairing. Include Hot Off The Beach (6), Out Of The Fog (5), and Counter Move (9) in trifecta structures. Golden Joker (2) for Clement is worth a small inclusion given the trainer's turf record.

Selections

Win: My Munny Talks (3) Place: Mykonos (8) Show: Hot Off The Beach (6)

Jockey Notes and Insights

Jose Lezcano is the pivotal figure at this meet and today's card showcases his dominance. He is listed on horses in nearly every race, including multiple high-profile mounts in Race 4, Race 8, and Race 10 where rider conflicts exist on the official card. Bettors should confirm his final assignments before finalizing exotic tickets. Lezcano has been riding with exceptional timing and confidence at the Big A and his mounts deserve a premium in the win probability assessment.

Manny Franco topped the winter and spring meet standings at Aqueduct, though he is not widely represented on today's card. His absence from several key races is notable, suggesting a lighter commitment to the Saturday program as the major riders focus on the Derby Day card at Churchill Downs.

Ricardo Santana Jr. is one of the premier riders in North America and his presence at this meet carries significant weight. He has been in top form nationally and his mounts across multiple races today are among the most likely contenders to outperform their morning lines.

Kendrick Carmouche has been riding with precision and confidence, particularly on the turf. His mounts in Race 4 aboard Deterministic (5) and Race 5 aboard Deemer (7) deserve full confidence based on his current form.

Dylan Davis has been extremely active at the Big A meet and has multiple live mounts throughout the card. His inside knowledge of this track, particularly in sprint races, makes him a reliable factor across several contests today.

Edgard Zayas remains one of the steadiest and most effective riders in the New York colony. His mounts today include several well-placed claiming horses across the mid-card and he should factor in multiple races.

Jamie Rodriguez has been productive at this meet and his assignment on Sea Vista (5) in Race 6 for Brad Cox is the most prominent booking of his day.

Trainer Notes and Insights

Linda Rice enters today's card having dominated both the Aqueduct winter and spring meets as the training leader. Her horses are exceptionally well-prepared at every level of competition, from maiden claiming to stakes company. Today she is represented in seven of the eleven races, including Yo Daddy (6) in the Fort Marcy Stakes and Acoustic Ave (7) in the Elusive Quality Stakes. Her win rate at this meet is the benchmark that all other trainers are measured against. The combination of Rice and Lezcano has been one of the most profitable angles at the Big A all meet.

Miguel Clement fields two horses in the Grade 3 Fort Marcy Stakes, entering both Ridari (1) and Deterministic (5). Clement is one of the finest turf trainers in the country and his willingness to double-enter in a stakes suggests he believes in both horses. Deterministic (5) draws the co-favorite billing but Ridari (1) from the premium post 1 on turf could be the value of the two.

Chad Brown's entry in the Fort Marcy with Uncatalyzed (4) is worth maximum respect. Brown's turf routing operation is the finest in North America and his horses rarely enter stakes without being fully prepared for the task.

William Mott, a Hall of Fame trainer, has entries in Race 2 with Schlomo (7) and Race 8 with Spiced Up (4). Mott's horses in claiming company are typically well-spotted and Schlomo (7) as the co-favorite in Race 2 is well-placed.

Todd Pletcher's Freaky (3) in Race 10 is one of the more interesting trainer angles on the card. Pletcher's optional claiming turf horses in route company at Aqueduct have been productive and Freaky (3) from the inside post could be a significant overlay if Lezcano rides the Rice entry instead.

Richard Dutrow has multiple entries throughout the card, including two horses in the Elusive Quality Stakes in Race 8 and entries in Races 4, 6, 10, and 11. Several of his mounts carry TBA rider designations, which require clarification before wagering. When Dutrow's horses are well-meant and come in with confirmed riders, they are capable of overperforming their morning line prices.

Michael Maker is represented in Race 10 with Kulapat (6) and Race 11 with Mykonos (8). Maker's record with turf horses is one of the best in the sport and both of his entries today deserve attention in exotic wagering structures.

Ilkay Kantarmaci enters multiple horses across the card, including paired entries in Race 1, Race 2, and Race 7. Identifying the intended winner of paired Kantarmaci entries is a key puzzle for handicappers. Generally, the horse with the more experienced or higher-profile jockey assignment is the intended target, which in Race 1 points to Indy Rags (5) with Zayas over Military Road (1) with Gonzalez.

Wayne Potts has entries in Race 1, Race 2, and Race 3, operating primarily in the lower claiming and maiden claiming ranks. His horses are capable of running their races at these levels but rarely figure as the top choices.

Best Wagering Strategies and Value Plays

The centerpiece wagering structure for today's card should be built around the two stakes races, Race 4 and Race 8, combined with the most predictable claiming and maiden contests.

In Race 4, the Fort Marcy Stakes, the co-favorite situation with Deterministic (5) and Yo Daddy (6) at 1-1 each means the win pool will be severely depressed on both horses. The value is to single Uncatalyzed (4) at 5-1 or Ridari (1) at 2-1 and use the favorites in the secondary spots of trifectas. A trifecta key of Deterministic (5) on top with Uncatalyzed (4), Ridari (1), and Yo Daddy (6) in the second and third positions offers the best return structure in this race.

In Race 8, the Elusive Quality Stakes, Clock Tower (6) at 3-1 for Wesley Ward is the defining value play of the card. Ward is arguably the preeminent trainer of turf sprinters in North America and Clock Tower (6) against a 1-1 morning line favorite in a stakes is exactly the type of spot where Ward's horses generate significant return. Using Clock Tower (6) on top in exactas over Acoustic Ave (7) and Twenty Six Black (3) is the recommended structure.

For the Late Pick 4 spanning Races 8 through 11, the suggested structure is:

Race 11: MY MUNNY TALKS (3), MYKONOS (8), HOT OFF THE BEACH (6)

This structure creates a manageable ticket while covering the most likely outcomes in each leg.

For the Early Pick 4 spanning Races 1 through 4, the structure is:

Race 4: DETERMINISTIC (5), UNCATALYZED (4), RIDARI (1)

The best single value play on the card is Clock Tower (6) in Race 8 at 3-1 for Wesley Ward. In a turf sprint stakes where a 1-1 favorite will absorb the majority of the win pool, a Ward turf sprinter at 3-1 is one of the most reliable angles in the game and represents the best return on investment opportunity of today's program.

Confirm rider assignments for all Dutrow entries and resolve the Lezcano conflicts in Races 4, 8, and 10 before submitting final exotic wagers. Post changes and jockey substitutions at a track can dramatically shift value in the betting pools and the multiple TBA designations across Dutrow's roster today require attention at the windows.
