Century Mile Race Day Overview — August 3, 2026

Century Mile Racetrack in Edmonton, Alberta opens its Monday card with nine races spanning a range of conditions, from a short 400-furlong (quarter-mile) sprint opener to a pair of route races stretching past a mile. The card features a healthy mix of claiming, allowance, maiden special weight, and maiden-optional claiming races, giving bettors a wide variety of wagering angles throughout the afternoon. The track caters largely to a local and regional Alberta circuit, with the Rycroft barn (both Tim and Tom Rycroft listed as separate trainers) and William Leech representing some of the more active outfits on the grounds. Carson Frey, Ron Grieves, and Craig Robert Smith also saddle multiple runners today.

The headline news from the broader racing world involves a productive week at Saratoga, where six speedy fillies turned in eye-catching works and performances during the July 20-26 window. HAULIN ICE earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 96 in a second-place finish in the Grade II Honorable Miss Stakes at Saratoga on July 26, a benchmark that towers over the class levels seen at Century Mile today and serves as a useful calibration tool for speed figure context. Century Mile operates at a significantly lower class level than the major circuits, so the figures and pace numbers here will reflect that accordingly.

No official scratches have been posted at press time. Bettors should confirm the final field at the windows before wagering, as last-minute scratches on a Monday card can reshape several of these small fields dramatically.

Weather and Track Conditions — August 3, 2026

Edmonton, Alberta sits in the heart of the Canadian Prairies, where summer weather can be variable. Forecasts for the Edmonton area on August 3, 2026 indicate partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low-to-mid 20s Celsius (approximately 70-75°F), which represents comfortable racing conditions for both horses and riders. No significant precipitation is expected in the hours leading up to the first post at 3:15 PM local time, which bodes well for a fast or good main track throughout the card.

Century Mile's main track is a one-mile oval dirt surface. The track maintenance crew typically hauls the rail out in the summer months to protect the inside portion of the racing strip, though bettors should confirm the exact rail position at post time. Absent rain in the preceding 24-to-48-hour window, the surface should be rated fast, which historically favors horses with early speed at this track.

Track Bias and Post Position Analysis

Century Mile's one-mile oval tends to play favorably for horses with early pace. On a fast, dry summer track, horses that can establish position within the first two or three lengths off the gate have a measurable edge, particularly in sprint distances. The quarter-mile opener in Race 1 (400 furlongs) is almost entirely gate-to-wire racing, making the break and early foot the dominant factor.

In route races, the rail — depending on where it is set — can be a positive or negative factor. When the rail is moved out (which is common at Century Mile during the summer meet to prevent deep inside wear), horses in the middle posts (posts 3 through 6) tend to fare best, as they can find a clear path without being pinned on a compromised rail or forced extremely wide. Horses in outer posts in fields of seven or more in route races face a distance penalty going into the first turn.

For sprint races at six furlongs and under, posts 1 through 4 have historically performed well at this venue, as horses can angle over to a good portion of the track without losing significant ground. In fields of five or fewer, post position becomes less critical since the field naturally spreads.

The Monday card leans toward smaller fields throughout, which somewhat neutralizes post position bias. Speed figures at Century Mile in the range of 65-80 are competitive at the claiming and lower allowance levels. Any horse showing back figures in the low-to-mid 80s would represent a significant class edge on this particular card.

RACE 1 — Post 3:15 PM — 400f | D | A | Alw 17000nc | BUN | Purse $17,000

This is an allowance sprint over a quarter mile (400 furlongs) for a $17,000 purse on the main track. Five horses are entered and the race is restricted to horses that have not won a certain number of allowance races (non-winners condition). With only five horses in a quarter-mile race, the gate break is paramount. There is essentially no running room to make up ground at this distance — whoever gets out cleanly and fires hard early will almost certainly be on or near the lead at the wire.

Pace Analysis

With five horses and 400 furlongs, pace analysis is almost academic — this is a pure gate-to-wire sprint where fractions are irrelevant and raw quarter-horse style speed is everything. The horses that can reach top speed within the first few strides and maintain it to the wire will determine the outcome. Flight Club (POST 2) and Fired (POST 5) are co-morning line favorites at 2-1 for trainer William Leech, giving Leech a dominant presence in the race. Having two co-favorites in the same barn in a five-horse field is a significant advantage, as the connections know how each horse works and trains.

Key Contenders

Flight Club (POST 2) is one of trainer William Leech's two entries and draws the second post, which is an excellent gate position in a short sprint. Alexander Marti gets the mount. Leech is one of the more active and successful trainers on the Century Mile circuit, and having both morning line co-favorites in the same race gives him a powerful hand. Flight Club (POST 2) at 2-1 from the rail-adjacent post should get a clean break and dictate terms in this sprint.

Fired (POST 5) is the other Leech entry at 2-1 morning line, piloted by Ricardo Moreno. Despite drawing the widest post in the five-horse field, in a 400-furlong race the outside post actually offers a clean, unimpeded run to the wire without any traffic concerns. Moreno is a capable rider who can get a horse out of the gate quickly. The question is whether Fired (POST 5) can match strides with its stablemate Flight Club (POST 2) if both fire clean.

Uncommon Soldier (POST 3) represents trainer Clifton G. Dennis, who also saddles Krash On Okey (POST 4). Uncommon Soldier (POST 3) is the third choice at 4-1 with Gabriel Garcia Asencio aboard. The center post is fine in this format and Garcia Asencio is a capable hand. Dennis splitting his barn between posts 3 and 4 means his horses will run side by side in the first jump, creating some tactical complexity.

Secondary Choices

Krash On Okey (POST 4) at 8-1 is the second Dennis runner, assigned to M.A. Campillo. At 8-1 with a capable trainer who knows this horse well enough to run alongside a stablemate, Krash On Okey (POST 4) deserves attention as a potential overlay. In quarter-mile racing, anything can happen at the gate, and if Flight Club (POST 2) and Fired (POST 5) bump or break awkwardly, a clear-running Krash On Okey (POST 4) could steal this.

Longshots

TEAM RIP (POST 1) opens at 6-1 from the rail under Amador Hernandez with trainer Bucky Stockwell. In a race dominated by the Leech barn and the Dennis barn, TEAM RIP (POST 1) needs everything to go right to compete, but the rail post in a sprint is rarely a disadvantage, and a sharp gate break at a big price would make this interesting for the exotic slots.

Selections

Win: Flight Club (POST 2) Place: Fired (POST 5) Show: Uncommon Soldier (POST 3)

Betting Strategy: The Leech barn controls this race. Box Flight Club (POST 2) and Fired (POST 5) in exactas. If you want a saver, include Uncommon Soldier (POST 3) in a small exacta underneath the Leech pair. The trainer double-entry situation argues against trying to single either Leech horse in multi-race wagers.

RACE 2 — Post 3:45 PM — 1320f | D | MO | Moc 16000 | BUM | Purse $18,000

A six-furlong maiden optional claiming race for $16,000 on the main track, restricted to fillies and mares (BUM designation). Six horses are entered. This is a route maiden event at the base claiming level, open to horses that have yet to break their maiden or can be claimed for $16,000. Fields like this can be unpredictable, but pace shape and recent form often tell the story.

Pace Analysis

With six fillies and mares going a route distance on the dirt, the pace scenario becomes important. El Bonita Cara (POST 3) and Red Charity (POST 4) share co-favorite billing at 2-1 each and figure to be the primary pace setters or prominent stalkers depending on their running styles. A honest pace up front will suit closers, while a slow pace could allow a front-runner to steal this. Touristica (POST 1) from the rail under Brian Boodramsingh for Cory Rumsey opens at 3-1, which suggests she has enough early foot to be dangerous.

Key Contenders

El Bonita Cara (POST 3) is the Jason Coney trainee at 2-1 with Enrique Alonzo Gonzalez in the irons. The third post is a comfortable starting point in a six-horse field going a mile and a quarter. Coney is an active trainer at Century Mile and Gonzalez is logging a full book of mounts today, which speaks to rider confidence in the mount. At co-favorite odds, El Bonita Cara (POST 3) likely has the best recent form or workout pattern in the field and must be respected as the top selection.

Red Charity (POST 4) shares the 2-1 morning line for trainer Carson Frey and rider Jose Mariano Asencio. Frey saddles multiple horses today across various races, indicating an active and confident barn. Red Charity (POST 4) from the fourth post is ideally situated to track the pace and make a decisive move around the turn. This is a true even-money proposition between El Bonita Cara (POST 3) and Red Charity (POST 4), and bettors will need to identify a tiebreaker.

Secondary Choices

Touristica (POST 1) at 3-1 from the rail is the logical third choice. Cory Rumsey tends to run competitive horses and Brian Boodramsingh is one of the busier riders on the card today. The rail post in a route race can be a slight disadvantage on the first turn if the horse is forced to check or finds herself pinned behind horses, but Touristica (POST 1) at 3-1 represents the kind of short price that could easily win this.

Distorted Tilly (POST 5) opens at 4-1 for Robert Henson with Amadeo Perez aboard. The fifth post in a six-horse field means a slight outside run into the first turn, but Perez is the busiest rider on today's card and rides several live horses. Distorted Tilly (POST 5) deserves a line in your exotics.

Longshots

Punch Bizz (POST 6) is the widest horse in the field at 8-1 from the outside post, trained by Rick Hedge with Keihton Natera up. The outside post in a route maiden race for fillies and mares at $16,000 is a real disadvantage, as the horse will need to find her spot after using energy to avoid traffic. At 8-1, Punch Bizz (POST 6) offers some exotic value if she can save ground on the turn, but she faces a tough assignment.

Annabelle Lee (POST 2) opens at 15-1 for David Nicholson with Ridge Balgobin riding. This is a very large price for a horse in a six-filly field, suggesting she is lightly regarded by the morning line maker and possibly lacks the form or works to compete at this level. Use only as a deep exotic inclusion.

Selections

Win: El Bonita Cara (POST 3) Place: Red Charity (POST 4) Show: Touristica (POST 1)

Betting Strategy: The co-favorite situation makes this race a natural exacta box between El Bonita Cara (POST 3) and Red Charity (POST 4) with Touristica (POST 1) underneath in exactas. A trifecta using El Bonita Cara (POST 3) and Red Charity (POST 4) on top with Touristica (POST 1) and Distorted Tilly (POST 5) in the third slot offers a solid ticket for modest investment.

RACE 3 — Post 4:15 PM — 1320f | D | C | Clm 6000b | BUM | Purse $12,500

A six-furlong claiming race at $6,000 (b-tag, meaning horses are eligible to be claimed with conditions) for fillies and mares on the main track. The $12,500 purse is modest and the $6,000 claiming price is at the basement level of the Century Mile condition book. This suggests a field of seasoned or struggling horses that have worked their way down the claiming ladder. Prairie Sky (POST 6) is the morning line favorite at 1-1, which is a very short price and immediately draws the eye.

Pace Analysis

Six fillies and mares at six furlongs at the $6,000 claiming level. The 1-1 morning line on Prairie Sky (POST 6) signals that the morning line maker has a very clear preference, which often translates to a horse with dominant recent form at this level. If Prairie Sky (POST 6) is as dominant as her odds suggest, the pace won't matter much — she will either lead gate-to-wire or run them down from off the pace. The interesting strategic question is whether any of the other five horses can apply enough pressure to expose a vulnerability.

Key Contenders

Prairie Sky (POST 6) at 1-1 for Craig Robert Smith with Richard Lunan up is the clear public choice. Smith runs several horses today and clearly is comfortable with this filly's current form at the $6,000 level. Prairie Sky (POST 6) from the outside post in a six-horse sprint is the only minor concern — an outside draw means a bit more ground to cover, but at 1-1 the connections obviously like her regardless of post. Lunan is an experienced rider on the circuit and should have no trouble getting her into position. At even money, Prairie Sky (POST 6) must be used in all exotics but offers little straight win value.

Just Scarlett (POST 1) is the second choice at 2-1 for Erick Gutierrez with Amadeo Perez riding. The rail post in a sprint suits an early speed type. If Just Scarlett (POST 1) can break sharply and clear to the lead before Prairie Sky (POST 6) makes her move, this could produce a long-priced upset for anyone keying Just Scarlett (POST 1) underneath the favorite in exactas. Gutierrez is a trainer who keeps his horses competitive at these levels, and Just Scarlett (POST 1) at 2-1 offers genuine win value if the favorite wobbles.

Secondary Choices

Flirtation Card (POST 4) at 5-1 for Joan Petrowski with Gonzalez riding is the most interesting secondary play. The center post suits a horse with tactical speed, and Gonzalez is logging multiple mounts today. Petrowski runs some live horses at Century Mile and Flirtation Card (POST 4) at 5-1 offers a price worth betting if the early pace from Just Scarlett (POST 1) softens things up for a late runner.

Diamond Di (POST 2) at 6-1 for Anderson Ward with Kodi Dottin-Downes up is another horse to consider. Ward also saddles Runway Lights (POST 3), and splitting runners in adjacent posts could create some early-race traffic complications. Diamond Di (POST 2) at 6-1 offers some exotic value in the second slot.

Longshots

Runway Lights (POST 3) at 8-1 is the second Ward entry with Antonio Ambrosio Reyes aboard. Having both Ward horses in posts 2 and 3 side by side in a sprint means they will start extremely close together. Generally one Anderson Ward horse here is a pace helper for the other. At 8-1, Runway Lights (POST 3) is a slim exotic include only.

Cranberry Chill (POST 5) at 8-1 for Rick Hedge with Rafael Zenteno Jr. up rounds out the field. Hedge is an active trainer at this meet, but the 8-1 price suggests Cranberry Chill (POST 5) is lightly regarded. Include her as a trifecta filler only.

Selections

Win: Prairie Sky (POST 6) Place: Just Scarlett (POST 1) Show: Flirtation Card (POST 4)

Betting Strategy: With Prairie Sky (POST 6) at 1-1, straight win betting is unattractive. The play here is exacta Prairie Sky (POST 6) over Just Scarlett (POST 1) and Flirtation Card (POST 4) as the primary tickets. For value, a small reverse exacta — Just Scarlett (POST 1) over Prairie Sky (POST 6) — is worth a token investment in case the favorite underperforms. Trifecta: key Prairie Sky (POST 6) on top, Just Scarlett (POST 1) second, Flirtation Card (POST 4) and Diamond Di (POST 2) third.

RACE 4 — Post 4:45 PM — 1870f | D | S | Md Sp Wt | BUN | Purse $28,000

The best purse of the afternoon at $28,000, this is a maiden special weight route of approximately 11.5 furlongs on the main track for colts and geldings (BUN designation). Seven horses are entered. The $28,000 MSW purse is the classiest race on the card and often draws the most attention from ownership and breeding-minded connections. Big Bad Bizooke (POST 3) and Dr Broker (POST 6) share co-favorite status at 2-1 each, both trained by Tim Rycroft, who again deploys a double-entry strategy.

Pace Analysis

A 1870-furlong route (approximately a mile and three-sixteenths) for maidens is a demanding test that will expose any fitness deficiency. With a seven-horse field and the two Rycroft entries as co-favorites, the pace should be honest given the distance. Raise Money (POST 1) from the rail at 4-1 and Da Boss (POST 2) at 20-1 figure to establish the early pace, with the Rycroft pair tracking and making their moves on the far turn. Nineoclocksomewher (POST 4) at 15-1 and Bizness Account (POST 5) at 8-1 are likely mid-pack runners, while Incredible Buddy (POST 7) at 8-1 from the outside post may be forced widest of all early.

Key Contenders

Big Bad Bizooke (POST 3) is the first Tim Rycroft entry at 2-1 with Enrique Alonzo Gonzalez in the saddle. The third post in a seven-horse MSW is an excellent draw. Gonzalez has been riding multiple Rycroft horses across this card, suggesting a strong barn-rider alliance. In a maiden race of this distance, fitness and training quality separate the field, and Rycroft's confidence in running two horses at the same odds signals he genuinely believes this barn's best chance lies between these two.

Dr Broker (POST 6) is the second Rycroft entry at 2-1 with Jose Mariano Asencio up. The sixth post in a seven-horse route is manageable, though the horse will need to find a good spot in the early going to avoid wide trips. Asencio is one of the most active riders on today's card. The natural question when a trainer runs two co-favorites in the same race is whether the connections will sacrifice one for the other or simply let both run on their merits.

Secondary Choices

Raise Money (POST 1) at 4-1 for Carson Frey with Amadeo Perez is the logical play for anyone looking for an alternative. The rail post in a route race means Raise Money (POST 1) saves ground around both turns. At 4-1, this is a legitimate price against the co-favorites. Frey is an active trainer across today's card, and Perez gets another live mount.

Bizness Account (POST 5) at 8-1 for Deanna Walper with Antonio Ambrosio Reyes is a deeper alternative. The fifth post is workable in a seven-horse route. At 8-1, Bizness Account (POST 5) offers real exacta value if one of the Rycroft horses falters.

Longshots

Incredible Buddy (POST 7) at 8-1 from the outside post for Jerri R. Robertson with Ridge Balgobin up faces the widest draw in a long route. At 8-1 the horse offers some pari-mutuel value, but the outside post in a maiden route is costly. Include only in trifecta and superfecta combinations.

Nineoclocksomewher (POST 4) at 15-1 for Makyla Edwards with Alexander Marti aboard sits in the middle of the field geographically. The 15-1 price suggests the morning line maker does not expect much from this runner, but Marti is a capable jockey who gets several mounts today and can place a horse well in a route.

Da Boss (POST 2) at 20-1 for Gonzalo Anderson with Linton Leon Steadman up is a significant longshot in a field of seven. The 20-1 price in a seven-horse MSW field is very long and suggests limited credentials. Use only as a superfecta filler.

Selections

Win: Big Bad Bizooke (POST 3) Place: Dr Broker (POST 6) Show: Raise Money (POST 1)

Betting Strategy: With two Rycroft co-favorites controlling the morning line, the most sensible approach is an exacta box between Big Bad Bizooke (POST 3) and Dr Broker (POST 6) as the primary play, then add Raise Money (POST 1) underneath in exactas. Trifecta: use Big Bad Bizooke (POST 3) and Dr Broker (POST 6) on top, Raise Money (POST 1) and Bizness Account (POST 5) in the place slot, and spread to the field in third.

RACE 5 — Post 5:15 PM — 1870f | D | CO | OClm 12500 | BUN | Purse $14,500

An optional claiming route at $12,500 for open company on the main track. Seven horses are entered and Thompson (POST 3) opens as the morning line favorite at 1-1 for trainer Geovani Olalde with Amadeo Perez. The 1-1 price in a seven-horse field is a powerful statement of morning line confidence. Optional claiming races allow horses with options — they can either be entered to be claimed or run for the purse without the claim risk.

Pace Analysis

Thompson (POST 3) at 1-1 likely holds a significant class or pace figure edge on the field. With Right In Front (POST 1) at 4-1 and Derzkii (POST 2) at 6-1 as potential early speed horses, the front of the race could be competitive. However, if Thompson (POST 3) has the kind of back figures that justify even money, he may simply be in a different class than these rivals. Broke An Broken (POST 5) at 5-1 for Tim Rycroft and Mehlek (POST 4) at 5-1 for Carson Frey are the most dangerous alternatives.

Key Contenders

Thompson (POST 3) at 1-1 is the race to beat. Olalde is a trainer who is very selective in placing his horses, and an even-money quote at a track that does not inflate prices frivolously means this horse has demonstrated dominant form. Perez rides Thompson and is having a busy day across the card. The third post is ideal for a horse of this caliber, allowing a clean break and natural position in the flow of the race.

Broke An Broken (POST 5) at 5-1 is Tim Rycroft's entry in this race, ridden by Jose Mariano Asencio. Rycroft is active across the card today and clearly has his barn in good form. Broke An Broken (POST 5) at 5-1 represents the most credible threat to the favorite given the barn's form. Asencio is one of the top riders working the card today.

Secondary Choices

Mehlek (POST 4) at 5-1 for Carson Frey with Brian Boodramsingh up is worth a line. Frey sends multiple horses out today and Mehlek (POST 4) from the fourth post in a seven-horse optional claiming route is positioned perfectly to track the pace and make a decisive move.

Right In Front (POST 1) at 4-1 for Marvin Buffalo with Kyle Carter is an interesting play from the rail. Buffalo occasionally surfaces live horses at Century Mile and the rail post in a long route is often an asset. Carter does not get as many mounts today as some of the other riders, which may mean this is one he is particularly motivated about.

Longshots

Derzkii (POST 2) at 6-1 for Ron Grieves with Keihton Natera up is a second-post speedster with a live barn. Grieves runs multiple horses today and Derzkii (POST 2) at 6-1 in a route could prove a value play if the pace devolves into a slow affair where early speed holds.

Thiscatsgotspeed (POST 7) at 8-1 from the outside post for Rick Hedge with Keimar Trotman is a wide draw in a route. The name implies early speed, but the outside post in a route of this distance means ground to cover before settling. Use in trifectas and superfectas.

Our Sunshine (POST 6) at 20-1 for Monica Russell with Mauricio Malvaez is a long price with little to recommend for win consideration. The 20-1 in a modest optional claiming field suggests limited recent form. Use only as a trifecta filler or superfecta inclusion.

Selections

Win: Thompson (POST 3) Place: Broke An Broken (POST 5) Show: Mehlek (POST 4)

Betting Strategy: Thompson (POST 3) at 1-1 is difficult to profit from at straight win prices. The strategy is to key Thompson (POST 3) on top in exactas over Broke An Broken (POST 5), Mehlek (POST 4), and Right In Front (POST 1). A small reverse exacta pairing Broke An Broken (POST 5) over Thompson (POST 3) is worth playing as insurance. If Thompson (POST 3) is a multi-race single in Pick 3 or Pick 4 sequences, use him there where the value multiplies through the subsequent legs.

RACE 6 — Post 5:45 PM — 1430f | D | A | Alw 21500n2l | BUM | Purse $21,500

A nine-horse allowance route for fillies and mares (BUM) at approximately nine furlongs for non-winners of two lifetime. The $21,500 purse is one of the better allowance conditions on the card. Nine horses make this the largest field of the day and introduce more pace complexity than any other race on the card. Promise To Win (POST 2) opens at 5-1 for Barbara Heads with Amadeo Perez, and three horses share the 6-1 morning line: Senecait (POST 1), Ladyace Of Speight (POST 3), and Unveil The Grace (POST 6).

Pace Analysis

With nine fillies and mares in a nine-furlong route, pace setup is critical. Senecait (POST 1) from the rail at 6-1 may have early speed and is ideally positioned to find a comfortable spot. Promise To Win (POST 2) at 5-1 from the second post is positioned to track right alongside. The middle part of the field — Ladyace Of Speight (POST 3), Karensnotimpressed (POST 4), and Lutedidit (POST 5) — will create significant pace and traffic questions into the first turn with nine horses. Spadina (POST 8) and Nasas Princess (POST 9) from the outside posts will be forced extremely wide early and should be late-running types to have any hope.

Key Contenders

Promise To Win (POST 2) at 5-1 is the clear top selection. The Barbara Heads barn is active and competitive and Promise To Win (POST 2) from the second post draws one of the best post positions in a nine-horse field going long. Perez gets the mount here as well, making this one of his best rides on the card. The n2l (non-winners of two lifetime) condition means these mares have one win or fewer, leveling the field considerably.

Ladyace Of Speight (POST 3) at 6-1 for Ron Grieves with Mauricio Malvaez is another key contender. Grieves runs several horses today and clearly has his barn cranking. The third post is workable and Malvaez is an active rider. Ladyace Of Speight (POST 3) at 6-1 represents genuine value in the win pool if the horse has the class edge at this n2l level.

Unveil The Grace (POST 6) at 6-1 for Craig Robert Smith with Richard Balgobin up is a center-field runner who should find traffic easier to navigate than the outer-post horses. Smith is one of the more active trainers on today's card and this is likely one of his better chances.

Secondary Choices

Senecait (POST 1) at 6-1 for Robert Vanoverschof with Kyle Carter is the rail horse in a nine-filly route. The rail in a route is a double-edged sword — it saves ground but can get horses pinned. Carter has a lighter book today, so this mount may be one he focuses on. Vanoverschof is a steady trainer who places horses thoughtfully.

Run As One (POST 7) at 10-1 for Marvin Buffalo with Jose Mariano Asencio is a mid-priced longshot worth including in exotics. Buffalo occasionally produces live shots at this track and Asencio is riding well throughout today's card. At 10-1 from the seventh post, Run As One (POST 7) offers trifecta and exacta value.

Longshots

Nasas Princess (POST 9) at 10-1 from the wide outside post is trained by Ron Grieves, giving him a second entry alongside Ladyace Of Speight (POST 3). Keihton Natera rides. The wide post in a nine-horse route means early wide travel and energy expenditure, making Nasas Princess (POST 9) a difficult win play.

Lutedidit (POST 5) at 12-1 for Deanna Walper with Rafael Zenteno Jr. sits in the middle of the field. The 12-1 price signals limited credentials at this allowance level. Lutedidit (POST 5) can be included modestly in trifectas.

Karensnotimpressed (POST 4) at 20-1 for Dino Condilenios with Silvino Morales is a significant longshot in the center of the field. The 20-1 price means the morning line does not expect a serious run. Deep exotic use only.

Spadina (POST 8) at 20-1 for Carson Frey with Antonio Ambrosio Reyes from the eighth post is another wide-draw longshot. Frey runs multiple horses today but Spadina (POST 8) faces a tough task from the outside in a nine-horse route at 20-1. Superfecta filler at best.

Selections

Win: Promise To Win (POST 2) Place: Ladyace Of Speight (POST 3) Show: Unveil The Grace (POST 6)

Betting Strategy: In a nine-horse field with multiple horses sharing the same morning line price, the trifecta and superfecta offer the best value. Key Promise To Win (POST 2) on top in trifectas, use Ladyace Of Speight (POST 3) and Unveil The Grace (POST 6) in the place slot, and spread to Senecait (POST 1), Run As One (POST 7), and Nasas Princess (POST 9) in the third slot. This is the most complex race on the card and the one where a modest investment in exotic wagers can generate a meaningful return.

RACE 7 — Post 6:15 PM — 1320f | D | C | Clm 6000b | BUN | Purse $12,500

A six-furlong claiming race at $6,000 for open company (colts and geldings, BUN designation) mirroring the female equivalent in Race 3. Nine horses make this the largest field on the card for a single sprint, and Tennessee Moses (POST 6) is the heavy 1-1 morning line favorite for trainer William Leech with Alexander Marti aboard. Leech, who dominated Race 1, has his best horse of the night here if the 1-1 price is to be believed.

Pace Analysis

Nine horses at six furlongs creates a lot of early speed questions. In a $6,000 claiming sprint with horses from Stone House (POST 1) all the way out to Independence Neigh (POST 9), the early pace could be very fast. Tennessee Moses (POST 6) at 1-1 from the sixth post suggests this horse is so dominant that post position is secondary. The inner posts — Stone House (POST 1), Vantasticcanaveral (POST 2), and Man At The Pulpit (POST 3) — could be scrapping for position early, setting up the race for a closer from outside.

Key Contenders

Tennessee Moses (POST 6) at 1-1 is clearly the class of the field. The Leech-Marti combination proved its strength in Race 1, and Leech is batting with what appears to be the best horse in this claiming sprint. Tennessee Moses (POST 6) at 1-1 in a nine-horse $6,000 claiming field is an unusual level of public confidence and the morning line maker is rarely this emphatic without strong form to support the opinion.

Fed Boy (POST 8) at 4-1 shares second choice honors with Stone House (POST 1). Tim Rycroft trains Fed Boy (POST 8) with Jose Mariano Asencio up. Rycroft has been prolific on this card and Fed Boy (POST 8) from the eighth post in a sprint draws a slightly awkward wide position, but Asencio has been riding well and can get a horse out of the gate and across to a good part of the track.

Secondary Choices

Stone House (POST 1) at 4-1 for Jim R. Brown with Richard Balgobin is the co-second choice from the rail. Brown also trains Chickoutthebizz (POST 4), making this another two-pronged barn attack. Stone House (POST 1) from the rail in a sprint is an excellent draw and at 4-1 represents real win value against the heavy favorite. If Tennessee Moses (POST 6) shows any sluggishness, Stone House (POST 1) is the most dangerous horse to beat.

Chickoutthebizz (POST 4) at 8-1 is the second Brown entry. The center post is fine and at 8-1 Chickoutthebizz (POST 4) offers good exotic value. The Brown barn double-entry mirrors the Leech and Dennis strategies from Race 1.

Longshots

Man At The Pulpit (POST 3) at 15-1 for Tom Rycroft (distinct from Tim Rycroft) with Gonzalez is a mid-price longshot from the third post. The 15-1 price in a nine-horse claiming sprint suggests limited recent form.

Independence Neigh (POST 9) at 20-1 for Colton Reid with Linton Leon Steadman from the widest post in the field is a significant longshot. The outside post in a sprint is very costly. Superfecta filler at best.

Remarkable Eli (POST 5) at 30-1 for Ashley Gilkyson with D.D. Bryan is priced as a near-non-competitor. A 30-1 price in a nine-horse claiming sprint essentially means this horse is a starter and nothing more for wagering purposes.

Vantasticcanaveral (POST 2) at 30-1 for Monica Russell with Cesar Vidaurri is another extreme longshot. The 30-1 price in a small-field claiming race is remarkable and suggests this horse has very limited recent credentials.

Bri's Boy (POST 7) at 30-1 for Ron Grieves with Mauricio Malvaez is the third 30-1 shot in the field. Three horses at 30-1 in a nine-horse claiming sprint indicates the morning line maker has very little confidence in almost a third of the field.

Selections

Win: Tennessee Moses (POST 6) Place: Stone House (POST 1) Show: Fed Boy (POST 8)

Betting Strategy: Like Race 3, the heavy favorite at 1-1 makes straight wagering unattractive. The plays are exacta Tennessee Moses (POST 6) over Stone House (POST 1), Chickoutthebizz (POST 4), and Fed Boy (POST 8). A small reverse exacta Stone House (POST 1) over Tennessee Moses (POST 6) is a value play worth pursuing. Trifecta key Tennessee Moses (POST 6) on top, Stone House (POST 1) and Fed Boy (POST 8) second, Chickoutthebizz (POST 4) and Man At The Pulpit (POST 3) third.

RACE 8 — Post 6:45 PM — 1830f | D | AO | OClm 17500n3l | BUN | Purse $21,500

The card concludes with a nine-horse optional claiming route at $17,500 for horses that have not won three lifetime (n3l), open company on the main track. The $21,500 purse is the co-richest condition of the day alongside Race 6. Snap To It (POST 3) opens as the heavy 2-1 favorite for trainer Barbara Heads with Amadeo Perez, the busiest jockey on today's card.

Pace Analysis

A 1830-furlong route (approximately a mile and one-eighth to a mile and three-sixteenths) with nine horses creates substantial pace uncertainty. Snap To It (POST 3) at 2-1 with Perez from a comfortable third post is likely the class of the field. Pioneer Storm King (POST 9) at 5-1 from the outside for Tim Rycroft and Magicstrikesagain (POST 8) at 5-1 for David Nicholson represent the strongest alternatives. The front of the pace will likely be set by whatever horse has early speed out of posts 1 through 4, with Cousin Richie (POST 1) and You'reinthearmynow (POST 4) being potential pace setters.

Key Contenders

Snap To It (POST 3) at 2-1 is the most dominant morning line position on the final race of the card. Heads has a productive afternoon with Promise To Win (POST 2) also live in Race 6, and Perez bookends his busy day with what figures to be his best mount of the night. The third post in a nine-horse route is excellent, and Snap To It (POST 3) should find a comfortable stalking position early. The n3l restriction means these horses are not ultra-experienced, leveling the form somewhat, but at 2-1 Snap To It (POST 3) is clearly the class of the field.

Magicstrikesagain (POST 8) at 5-1 for David Nicholson with Jose Mariano Asencio from the eighth post is an interesting alternative. Nicholson also runs Annabelle Lee (POST 2) in Race 2, showing an active presence at the meet. Asencio is one of the hardest-working riders on today's card. At 5-1 from the eighth post, Magicstrikesagain (POST 8) faces a wide draw but the n3l condition at the optional claiming level can produce some surprise results.

Pioneer Storm King (POST 9) at 5-1 is Tim Rycroft's representative in the finale, handled by Brian Boodramsingh from the outside post. Rycroft has been extremely active across the card today with multiple entries in several races. Pioneer Storm King (POST 9) at 5-1 from the nine-hole in a route faces the biggest post-position challenge, but Boodramsingh is a competent route rider who can bide his time early and make ground on the far turn.

Secondary Choices

Cousin Richie (POST 1) at 6-1 for Tim Rycroft with Gonzalez is another Rycroft entry, giving him two horses in this race alongside Pioneer Storm King (POST 9). The rail post in a long route is an asset in terms of ground saving. At 6-1, Cousin Richie (POST 1) is a solid secondary pick with excellent value.

You'reinthearmynow (POST 4) at 6-1 for Robert Vanoverschof with Antonio Ambrosio Reyes is one of the more intriguing mid-card prices. Vanoverschof is a steady trainer who placed Senecait (POST 1) in Race 6, and You'reinthearmynow (POST 4) from the fourth post in this route has a quality post draw. At 6-1 with a capable jockey, this horse deserves a line in exactas.

American Farmer (POST 6) at 6-1 for Craig Robert Smith with Richard Balgobin is the third horse at 6-1 in this race, making races within races a genuine pricing challenge. Smith runs multiple horses today and American Farmer (POST 6) from the sixth post is in a workable spot.

Longshots

Coolwind (POST 7) at 8-1 for Rodney Cone with Keimar Trotman is a mid-price longshot from the seventh post. Cone is not among the busiest trainers on this card, but 8-1 in a route race with n3l conditions is worth a small exotic play. Coolwind (POST 7) in trifectas offers some value.

Pacheco (POST 5) at 15-1 for Colton Reid with Alexander Marti is a mid-field longshot. Marti finishes his day here after riding Flight Club (POST 2) in Race 1 and Nineoclocksomewher (POST 4) in Race 4. The 15-1 price in a nine-horse route means Pacheco (POST 5) is not highly regarded.

Taylor Field (POST 2) at 20-1 for Joan Petrowski with Keihton Natera from the second post is a significant longshot despite a favorable post position. The 20-1 in a manageable optional claiming route suggests form deficiencies. Use only as a superfecta filler.

Selections

Win: Snap To It (POST 3) Place: Cousin Richie (POST 1) Show: Magicstrikesagain (POST 8)

Betting Strategy: Snap To It (POST 3) at 2-1 as the card finale and likely anchor of multi-race wagers is the horse to key on top in exactas and trifectas. Exacta: Snap To It (POST 3) over Cousin Richie (POST 1), You'reinthearmynow (POST 4), American Farmer (POST 6), and Magicstrikesagain (POST 8). Trifecta: Snap To It (POST 3) on top, the above horses in second, and spread to Coolwind (POST 7) and Pioneer Storm King (POST 9) in third. The three horses at 6-1 create potential overlays in the exacta if any of them run second behind Snap To It (POST 3).

Jockey Notes and Insights

Amadeo Perez is the clear standout rider on today's card, booked on six horses across the nine-race program. He rides Just Scarlett (POST 1) in Race 3, Raise Money (POST 1) in Race 4, Thompson (POST 3) in Race 5, Promise To Win (POST 2) in Race 6, Distorted Tilly (POST 5) in Race 2, and Snap To It (POST 3) in Race 8. Perez's versatility — riding early speed types, stalkers, and closers at various distances — makes him the rider to watch. His mounts in Races 5 and 8 are the two he will likely be most motivated about given the morning line prices.

Enrique Alonzo Gonzalez is the second-busiest rider on the card with mounts in six races, including Big Bad Bizooke (POST 3) in Race 4, Man At The Pulpit (POST 3) in Race 7, and Cousin Richie (POST 1) in Race 8. Gonzalez's multiple bookings by Tim Rycroft signal a strong barn-rider relationship today.

Jose Mariano Asencio rounds out the top three riders by mounts, appearing in Races 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. His mounts on Broke An Broken (POST 5) in Race 5 and Magicstrikesagain (POST 8) in Race 8 are the most compelling.

Alexander Marti has quality mounts on Flight Club (POST 2) in Race 1 and Tennessee Moses (POST 6) in Race 7, both heavy favorites. A winning day for Marti may hinge on the Leech barn's performance.

Kyle Carter appears on Right In Front (POST 1) in Race 5 and Senecait (POST 1) in Race 6, both getting rail posts. Carter is worth watching when posted on the inside in route races.

Brian Boodramsingh picks up route assignments with Touristica (POST 1) in Race 2, Mehlek (POST 4) in Race 5, and Pioneer Storm King (POST 9) in Race 8 for the Tim Rycroft barn.

Trainer Notes and Insights

Tim Rycroft is the most active trainer on today's card, saddling horses in five of nine races. His double entries — Big Bad Bizooke (POST 3) and Dr Broker (POST 6) in Race 4, Broke An Broken (POST 5) in Race 5, Fed Boy (POST 8) in Race 7, Cousin Richie (POST 1) and Pioneer Storm King (POST 9) in Race 8 — represent an extraordinary level of barn involvement. When a trainer runs two co-favorites in the same race (Race 4), it often means he genuinely believes both horses are the best two in the field. His form at Century Mile during this summer meet has clearly been strong.

William Leech controls Races 1 and 7 with morning line co-favorites and a 1-1 heavy favorite respectively. Leech's double entries in Race 1 — Flight Club (POST 2) and Fired (POST 5) — and his single standout Tennessee Moses (POST 6) in Race 7 make his barn the most influential on sprint day.

Carson Frey is a steady presence throughout, saddling Raise Money (POST 1) in Race 4, Red Charity (POST 4) in Race 2, Mehlek (POST 4) in Race 5, and Spadina (POST 8) in Race 6. Frey's multiple entries across varied race conditions show a well-stocked barn.

Ron Grieves runs Ladyace Of Speight (POST 3) and Nasas Princess (POST 9) in Race 6 and Derzkii (POST 2) in Race 5 and Bri's Boy (POST 7) in Race 7. Grieves' most promising runner appears to be Ladyace Of Speight (POST 3) in Race 6.

Craig Robert Smith saddles horses in Races 3, 6, and 8 — Prairie Sky (POST 6), Unveil The Grace (POST 6), and American Farmer (POST 6) — all from the sixth post, which is curious and perhaps coincidental. His most live runner is Prairie Sky (POST 6) in Race 3.

Barbara Heads has live horses in the two most valuable races on the card: Promise To Win (POST 2) in Race 6 and Snap To It (POST 3) in Race 8, both with Perez in the irons. A double for Heads and Perez on this card would be the performance of the night.

Best Wagering Strategies and Value Plays

The two heavy favorites at 1-1 — Prairie Sky (POST 6) in Race 3 and Tennessee Moses (POST 6) in Race 7 — are best used as anchors in exactas and multi-leg sequences rather than as straight win bets. The return on a two-dollar win ticket at 1-1 is barely profitable and the theoretical edge is minimal. Build your wagering around these horses while looking for value underneath them.

The best win value on the card is Stone House (POST 1) at 4-1 in Race 7 as an alternative to Tennessee Moses (POST 6). If the heavy favorite stumbles, Stone House (POST 1) from the rail is the most logical beneficiary.

In Race 6, the nine-horse allowance field presents the best trifecta value on the card. With multiple horses at 6-1 and two at 20-1, a $1 trifecta key ticket using Promise To Win (POST 2) on top, Ladyace Of Speight (POST 3) and Unveil The Grace (POST 6) in the second slot, and four or five horses in the third slot could return meaningfully.

For multi-race wagering, a Pick 3 using Races 6-7-8 is compelling. Promise To Win (POST 2) in Race 6 with Tennessee Moses (POST 6) in Race 7 with Snap To It (POST 3) in Race 8 is the straight single-single-single ticket, which will almost certainly pay below $20 given three morning line favorites. The value play is to spread slightly in Race 6, using Promise To Win (POST 2), Ladyace Of Speight (POST 3), and Unveil The Grace (POST 6) while keeping Tennessee Moses (POST 6) and Snap To It (POST 3) as singles. This small spread captures the upside if one of the secondary horses wins Race 6 while still hitting on the last two legs.

A Pick 4 from Races 5-6-7-8 offers the best potential return. Using Thompson (POST 3) as a single in Race 5, spreading to three horses in Race 6, singling Tennessee Moses (POST 6) in Race 7, and singling Snap To It (POST 3) in Race 8 creates a three-ticket Pick 4 investment. The key uncertainty is Race 6, where the nine-horse field and multiple co-favorites suggest value in the spreading approach.

The single best value play on the entire card is the exacta Snap To It (POST 3) over Cousin Richie (POST 1) in Race 8. Tim Rycroft's barn is hot all day, Cousin Richie (POST 1) holds an excellent rail post draw, and at 6-1 in the exacta under a 2-1 favorite, this combination could return $16-22 for a two-dollar bet — a solid return on the final race anchor of the card.
