Race Day Overview — Horseshoe Indianapolis, Wednesday, May 13, 2026

Horseshoe Indianapolis returns with a full 14-race card highlighted by two stakes races that anchor the afternoon and evening program. The feature event is the Cleopatra Handicap at $150,000 in Race 8, a one-mile turf sprint for fillies and mares that draws a strong field of eleven including runners from nationally prominent barns. Supporting that is the Cornerstone Handicap at $55,000 in Race 9 and the 1 Something Opportunity Handicap at $55,000 in Race 7, both run at six furlongs on the main track. The card opens with a series of maiden and claiming races before building toward the stakes action in the late afternoon and evening hours.

Art Gropper of the Daily Racing Form has identified Race 10 as his best bet of the day, a maiden special weight turf sprint for fillies that features the morning-line favorite from the Brad Cox barn. The card offers several excellent exotic wagering opportunities including a turf Pick 3 that generated significant interest heading into the week.

Horseshoe Indianapolis continues its spring meet which has seen competitive fields in both its claiming and allowance conditions. The 14-race card spanning from 2:10 PM Eastern through approximately 7:17 PM Eastern provides ample material for full-card bettors and single-race players alike.

Weather and Track Conditions

The Indianapolis region is forecast for mild spring conditions on May 13, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-60s Fahrenheit during the afternoon post times climbing toward the evening. No significant precipitation is expected to affect the card, meaning the main track should be rated fast and the turf course firm to good.

The turf course at Horseshoe Indianapolis has been well-maintained through the spring meet, and recent turf races have drawn favorable feedback regarding surface consistency. With no rain in the forecast and adequate drainage from the week's prior usage, both surfaces should play true to form. Wind is expected to be light out of the southwest at 8 to 12 mph, which will be a minor factor in the longer distance races on the turf.

Track Bias and Post Position Analysis

Horseshoe Indianapolis runs its main track at a one-mile oval configuration. At six furlongs on the dirt, early speed has been a meaningful factor through the spring meet, particularly from the inside and middle posts. Horses with clean breaks and tactical speed have converted at a healthy rate when the track is rated fast. Posts 3 through 6 have shown the best overall win percentage at sprint distances on the dirt this meet.

At the route distances on the dirt, pace scenario matters considerably more. Horses that can stalk a contested pace from second or third position have a pronounced advantage over pure front-runners who set hard fractions uncontested.

On the turf course at seven furlongs and the 5.5-furlong sprint distance, inside post positions have been favorable when horses can secure the rail early, but the inside posts at the turf sprint distance (Race 10) can be problematic if a horse gets shuffled back at the first turn. The middle posts, approximately 4 through 7, have been the sweet spot for turf sprints this meet. Horses with turf experience and proven ability to handle firm going have a natural edge on days like today.

The 330-yard quarter horse sprint in Race 11 is heavily influenced by gate speed and post position, with even posts and outside draws historically providing cleaner trips in the Horseshoe sprint chute. That race will be addressed in detail below.

RACE 1 — Post (2:10) — 1,210 Yards | Dirt | Claiming $15,000 NW2L | Purse $18,500

Pace Analysis

This maiden claiming sprint at roughly six furlongs on the dirt sets up as a moderate-speed affair. Concho's Prayer (7) figures to be the controlling speed element and will likely carve out the early fractions from the rail-adjacent posts. Darkestachievement (6) has the tactical versatility to press or stalk. Covert Kid (3) brings enough early foot to be a factor in the pace equation. The key question is whether the pace will be contested enough to set up a closer, or if the front-end horses can dictate terms and hold on.

Key Contenders

Concho's Prayer (7) is the morning-line favorite at 2-1 and draws the outside post in a field of seven. Trained by Tim Eggleston, a reliable conditioner at this level, and ridden by Fernando De La Cruz who has been sharp this meet, this horse carries the most confidence from the morning line. The 2-1 price reflects legitimate public support and a form edge over most rivals. De La Cruz has been one of the busier and more effective riders at Horseshoe Indianapolis this spring, giving this runner an important tactical edge in a sprint with several speed horses.

Darkestachievement (6) at 3-1 from the Shannon McGovern barn is the second choice on the morning line and will be equipped with R. Prescott aboard. This runner figures as the most likely pressing type to challenge Concho's Prayer (7) for the early lead, and if the favorite doesn't fire on this surface, Darkestachievement (6) has the class profile to capitalize. McGovern has been competitive in the claiming ranks at this meet.

Secondary Choices

Covert Kid (3) at 4-1 for trainer Randy Klopp with Luis D. Perez in the irons is a horse to take seriously. Klopp trains a large barn at Horseshoe Indianapolis and consistently gets his horses ready to run. At 4-1, Covert Kid (3) offers legitimate value if the speed duel up front softens both Concho's Prayer (7) and Darkestachievement (6) heading into the stretch. Inside post position 3 should give Perez a clean look early.

Instinctually (4) at 8-1 from the Scott D. Mullins barn with Jose Ramos Gutierrez up is a mild price overlay that deserves some attention in exotics. Mullins is a patient conditioner and this horse's odds may be a touch generous given the competition.

Longshots

Tank Walk (2) at 6-1 from Michelle L. Elliott's barn with Irving Moncada could outrun the morning line if form holds. Elliott has had occasional sharp efforts at this claiming level. Sombeyay King (1) at 12-1 for Genaro Garcia is difficult to support on the morning line alone. Garcia runs a high-volume stable and this appears to be a tough spot for a longshot maiden. Special Gift Card (5) at 12-1 from the Tomas Medina barn with Alberto Burgos is the other deep price in the field and would need significant improvement to factor.

Selections

Win: Concho's Prayer (7) Place: Darkestachievement (6) Show: Covert Kid (3)

Betting Strategy: Single Concho's Prayer (7) on top in the win pool and use Darkestachievement (6) and Covert Kid (3) in exacta and trifecta combinations. A straight exacta of 7 over 6 offers value at the morning line prices. Include Instinctually (4) as a trifecta bottom.

RACE 2 — Post (2:41) — 1,760 Yards | Dirt | Maiden $15,000 | Purse $18,500

Pace Analysis

A full maiden mile on the dirt with seven runners creates a pace scenario that heavily favors the morning-line favorite. Allbarknobite (2) is the 1-1 choice and sets up as the dominant speed and class factor in this field. The question is whether any of the other runners can apply enough pressure to soften the favorite. Amigomeister (4) and Sig X Five (6) both figure to track the pace and could benefit if the favorite weakens in the stretch of this mile route.

Key Contenders

Allbarknobite (2) at 1-1 from trainer Genaro Garcia with Santo Sanjur in the irons is the clear standout on the morning line. Garcia trains this horse from the same barn as Brenda's City (1) in this race, which is noteworthy — in a two-horse stable entry scenario, the lower-priced horse is generally the main focus. At even money, Allbarknobite (2) appears to have a genuine class edge in maiden $15,000 company and will likely control the pace at a mile. Sanjur has been active and effective at this meet.

Amigomeister (4) at 4-1 from Tim Eggleston with Fernando De La Cruz is the most dangerous challenger. Eggleston-De La Cruz is an effective combination at Horseshoe Indianapolis, and at a mile this horse gets a distance that could suit a more stamina-oriented runner. If Allbarknobite (2) is overbet and underperforms, Amigomeister (4) is the most logical beneficiary.

Secondary Choices

Sig X Five (6) at 4-1 from Aaron M. West's barn with Samuel E. Bermudez is another legitimate contender. West has been competitive at Horseshoe Indianapolis this spring and Bermudez is a reliable jockey on this circuit. Sig X Five (6) figures as a pace-stalking type that could run into a minor award if the top two hit the board.

Cool Hunting (5) at 8-1 from Greg Bland with Hannah Leahey could be a dark horse. Bland has had some success spotting maiden claimers in spots they can win, and 8-1 represents decent value if this runner has improved from prior efforts.

Longshots

El Siereno (3) at 15-1 from Amara Kranz with Evin A. Roman is a significant longshot but one worth a minimum consideration in the trifecta. Brenda's City (1) at 20-1 is the barn companion to the favorite from Garcia's stable and appears to be a secondary option. Little Rock Jack (7) at 20-1 from Joseph D. Davis with Luis Contreras rounds out the field at a price that would require a significant upset.

Selections

Win: Allbarknobite (2) Place: Amigomeister (4) Show: Sig X Five (6)

Betting Strategy: At 1-1, Allbarknobite (2) is difficult to beat on a win-only basis. The value play is in the exacta using Allbarknobite (2) over Amigomeister (4) and Sig X Five (6). A small trifecta box of 2, 4, 6 with a key on 2 captures the main scenario at reasonable cost.

RACE 3 — Post (3:12) — 1,320 Yards | Dirt | Maiden Special Weight | Purse $36,000

Pace Analysis

A six-furlong maiden special weight for state-breds on the dirt is one of the most competitive race types at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Three horses share co-favorite status at 2-1 on the morning line: C U Whenugetthere (1), Stuck In Park (5), and Coaxed (4) at 3-1. The pace should be brisk with multiple horses capable of pressing early. C U Whenugetthere (1) from the inside could press or stalk, while Stuck In Park (5) from post 5 could be the controlling speed. Coaxed (4) adds a third dimension as a pressing type. Money Monday (6) at 6-1 could be a late-running beneficiary if the pace collapses those on the front end.

Key Contenders

Stuck In Park (5) at 2-1 from Randy Klopp's barn with Alberto Burgos represents strong public confidence. Klopp is one of the leading trainers at Horseshoe Indianapolis and consistently produces sharp maiden efforts. Burgos has been busy and effective on this circuit. Post 5 is a clean, uncomplicated draw for a sprint. The co-favorite status with the morning line suggests Klopp's stable has significant belief in this runner.

C U Whenugetthere (1) at 2-1 from Greg Bland's barn with Santo Sanjur faces the challenge of the rail in a competitive sprint. Bland trains a quality group at this meet and Sanjur can handle rail trips. However, the inside post in a field with multiple early speed horses could mean traffic issues if the horse doesn't break sharply. At co-2-1, there may be marginal overlay value in Stuck In Park (5) by comparison.

Secondary Choices

Coaxed (4) at 3-1 from John Haran's barn with Jose Ramos Gutierrez is the third major player in this race. Haran has a second entry in this race with Taylor's Moonshine (2), showing barn confidence in this sprint. Coaxed (4) could find the sweet spot in the pace scenario if the two co-favorites battle each other into the stretch.

Money Monday (6) at 6-1 from Jonathan Nance's barn with Mitchell Murrill is the most intriguing price in the field. Murrill is a nationally recognized jockey who brings elite-level tactical ability to any mount. At 6-1 in a wide-open maiden sprint, Money Monday (6) with Murrill up deserves serious attention as a potential upset candidate. If the pace is honest between the co-favorites, Murrill can rally from off the pace.

Longshots

Taylor's Moonshine (2) at 8-1 is Haran's second entry and could be an honest price if this horse has underlying ability not reflected in the morning line. Chabelo (3) at 20-1 from Miguel Silva's barn with Alex Achard is a significant outsider that would need a career-best effort to factor.

Selections

Win: Stuck In Park (5) Place: Coaxed (4) Show: Money Monday (6)

Betting Strategy: The co-favorite scenario makes this race a natural structure for multiple exacta plays. Play Stuck In Park (5) over Coaxed (4) and Money Monday (6). Also consider Money Monday (6) underneath in the trifecta at a price that could boost the payoff considerably. Murrill's presence on Money Monday (6) at 6-1 is worth a single-race investment.

RACE 4 — Post (3:43) — 1,320 Yards | Dirt | Allowance $46,240 NW1X | Purse $46,240

Pace Analysis

The first allowance sprint on the card features a competitive field with two co-favorites at 2-1 and legitimate speed from multiple angles. Sir Bahjy (3) and Tiz Eddie (6) are the co-favorites, and Invictus (5) at 4-1 rounds out the upper tier. The pace should be honest with several horses capable of posting quick early fractions. This is a classic allowance sprint where pace breakdown could favor a stalking type. Miracle Worker (4) and Burlsworth (2) both fit that profile at their respective odds.

Key Contenders

Sir Bahjy (3) at 2-1 from Genaro Garcia's barn with Marcelino Pedroza is one of the co-favorites in this six-furlong allowance. Garcia is one of the leading trainers at this meet and Pedroza has been one of the more effective riders on the circuit. Post 3 is a clean inside draw. Sir Bahjy (3) figures to be forwardly placed and will need to convert if the pace is honest.

Tiz Eddie (6) at 2-1 from Tomas Medina's barn with Samuel E. Bermudez shares top billing on the morning line. Bermudez has been one of the more active jockeys at this meet with consistent results. Tiz Eddie (6) from post 6 gets a clean outside draw without much traffic risk. Medina places horses thoughtfully at Horseshoe Indianapolis and this appears to be a targeted spot.

Secondary Choices

Invictus (5) at 4-1 from Kinnon LaRose's barn with Gabriel Saez is the most intriguing runner in the field. Saez is a nationally regarded jockey whose presence at a regional track like Horseshoe Indianapolis signals significant connections' confidence. At 4-1, Invictus (5) offers the best value in the exacta with either co-favorite underneath. LaRose-Saez is a combination worth following throughout the day.

Burlsworth (2) at 6-1 from Cipriano Contreras with Amir Mendoza is a price worth considering for deeper exotic plays. Contreras also has Miracle Worker (4) in this race, and dual entries can sometimes indicate a barn at peak readiness.

Longshots

Miracle Worker (4) at 7-1 from Contreras with Emmanuel Esquivel is the second Contreras entry. At 7-1, Miracle Worker (4) represents genuine value if the barn's dual entry strategy means both runners are sharp. El Dandi (1) at 15-1 from Israel Acevedo with Alex Achard and Mike's Cyclone (7) at 20-1 from John Haran with Alberto Burgos are extreme longshots that belong only in wide trifecta and superfecta plays.

Selections

Win: Invictus (5) Place: Tiz Eddie (6) Show: Sir Bahjy (3)

Betting Strategy: Fade one of the co-favorites in favor of Invictus (5) at 4-1 to boost exacta and trifecta payoffs. Play Invictus (5) over Tiz Eddie (6) and Sir Bahjy (3) in exactas. Include Miracle Worker (4) at 7-1 as a trifecta bottom for a modest investment that could produce a meaningful payoff.

RACE 5 — Post (4:14) — 1,320 Yards | Dirt | Maiden $7,500 | Purse $14,500

Pace Analysis

The lowest-level maiden claiming race on the card draws a full field of ten with the widest range of ability. Pernicious (6) is the clear morning-line favorite at 2-1, suggesting a significant class edge over this field. Lo Machar (3) at 3-1 is the second choice. These two figure to be the primary pace-setters or stalkers depending on their tactical styles. At this price level, the race frequently comes down to conditioning and the trainer's ability to have a horse at peak readiness on race day.

Key Contenders

Pernicious (6) at 2-1 from Jose Cazares's barn with Hannah Leahey is the morning-line standout. Leahey has been a capable rider at this meet and Cazares has a functional operation at Horseshoe Indianapolis. In maiden $7,500 company at six furlongs, a 2-1 morning-line horse frequently reflects a genuine class advantage. Pernicious (6) appears to be the primary bet in this race.

Lo Machar (3) at 3-1 from Scott D. Mullins's barn with Jose Ramos Gutierrez is the most dangerous rival. Mullins is a solid conditioner and Gutierrez has been effective throughout this meet. Lo Machar (3) from post 3 gets a clean early look and has the jockey to put the horse in a good tactical position.

Secondary Choices

Eurcool (9) at 6-1 from Terry Vaughn's barn with Pedro Pena is the best price worth considering among the secondary tier. At 6-1 in a field of ten $7,500 maidens, Eurcool (9) represents overlay value if prior form suggests any improvement. Surely An Angel (7) at 8-1 from Miguel Silva's barn with Alex Achard is a horse that carries a reasonable price for a trainer who has had success at this level.

Longshots

Innisfree Prayer (2) at 10-1 from John Haran's barn with Amir Mendoza deserves minor exotic consideration — Haran is a competent trainer and 10-1 is a price worth a trifecta bottom investment. Sleepys Tater Todd (8) at 12-1 is Silva's second entry in this race alongside Surely An Angel (7), suggesting one or both could be live. Selena's Wish (1) at 15-1, Loveitorleaveit (5) at 15-1, and Amy El (4) at 20-1 and Who Not What (10) at 20-1 are deep longshots that require significant field collapses to factor.

Selections

Win: Pernicious (6) Place: Lo Machar (3) Show: Eurcool (9)

Betting Strategy: At 2-1, Pernicious (6) is the clearest single-horse investment on the bottom half of the card. Win and place wagers make sense. Use Pernicious (6) and Lo Machar (3) on top in exacta plays with Eurcool (9) and Surely An Angel (7) filling the bottom.

RACE 6 — Post (4:45) — 1,760 Yards | Turf | Allowance $46,240 NW1X | Purse $46,240

Pace Analysis

The first turf route on the card is a one-mile allowance that draws 12 runners, creating a complex pace scenario. Midnite In Finley (5) at 3-1 is the morning-line favorite and figures as the probable pace-controlling type. Passing Judgment (2) at 4-1 and Justhappytobehere (3) at 4-1 are the co-second choices and likely represent the stalking tier. With 12 runners going a mile on the turf, ground-saving trips will be at a premium and inside posts carry more value than typical.

Key Contenders

Midnite In Finley (5) at 3-1 from Michael Ann Ewing's barn with Adam Beschizza is the morning-line favorite in this full-field turf allowance. Ewing has developed a solid reputation for placing turf horses effectively at Midwest tracks, and Beschizza is a proven turf rider. Post 5 on the turf mile at Horseshoe Indianapolis is workable. Midnite In Finley (5) appears to have the form cycle to justify favoritism.

Passing Judgment (2) at 4-1 from Greg Foley's barn with Declan Cannon is a formidable rival. Cannon is an accomplished turf jockey with strong national credentials, and his presence on any turf horse commands attention. Foley is experienced conditioning horses for turf routes and Passing Judgment (2) from post 2 gets an ideal ground-saving position. This is a live contender.

Secondary Choices

Justhappytobehere (3) at 4-1 from Michael Lauer's barn with Luis Saez makes immediate sense given Saez's credentials as one of the elite jockeys in North America. When Saez ships in for a grass route at this level, the horse becomes an automatic contender regardless of conditions. Lauer has had success with turf routers throughout this meet. Justhappytobehere (3) is a strong secondary play.

Azoi (7) at 6-1 from Ismael Bahena's barn with Summer Pauly is an intriguing mid-price option. At 6-1 in a 12-horse turf mile, Azoi (7) could outrun the morning line if the pace collapses those on the front end.

Shure (10) at 8-1 from Larry Smith's barn with Samuel E. Bermudez and Sambalover (4) at 8-1 from Paulo H. Lobo's barn with Alberto Burgos are both worth secondary consideration in wide exotic plays.

Longshots

Time For Money (6) at 20-1, Ice Express (9) at 20-1, Tiempos Buenos (1) at 30-1, and Right On Right On (11) at 30-1 are deep longshots in a competitive turf allowance. Magical Wish (8) at 15-1 from Cipriano Contreras with Emmanuel Esquivel and Doubledogjustice (12) at 15-1 from Raymond Paquette III with Samuel E. Bermudez are worth noting in wide trifecta constructions as pace-collapse scenarios.

Selections

Win: Passing Judgment (2) Place: Midnite In Finley (5) Show: Justhappytobehere (3)

Betting Strategy: Play Passing Judgment (2) over Midnite In Finley (5) in the exacta with Cannon's turf expertise providing the edge. Trifecta key of Passing Judgment (2) and Midnite In Finley (5) on top over Justhappytobehere (3) and Azoi (7). In full-field turf routes, wide trifectas are essential given unpredictability of ground trips.

RACE 7 — Post (5:16) — 1,320 Yards | Dirt | 1 Something Opportunity Handicap $55,000 | Purse $55,000

Pace Analysis

The first stakes race on the card is a six-furlong handicap for state-breds that draws 12 runners including a heavy presence from Randy Klopp's barn — no fewer than five runners entered: Chocolate Moose (1), Latigo (2), Sleepy (3), Follow The Money (8), and Mondavila (9). This stable-stacking creates a fascinating tactical situation, as the Klopp runners will not set up pace for each other in a conventional sense. Run Away Rojo (12) at 5-1 from Steve Asmussen's barn with Keith J. Asmussen is the second-morning-line choice after the co-favorites.

The pace in a 12-horse stakes sprint should be brisk. With multiple front-runners potentially in the field, the pace could set up for closers or stalkers.

Key Contenders

Chocolate Moose (1) at 4-1 from Klopp's barn with Jose Ramos Gutierrez is one of the co-morning-line choices. Inside post 1 in a 12-horse sprint is a potential trap, but if this horse breaks sharply, the rail position could be an asset. Gutierrez has handled tight quarters effectively this meet.

Sleepy (3) at 4-1 is the other co-Klopp co-favorite with Fernando De La Cruz in the saddle. Post 3 is a significantly cleaner draw than post 1 in a full field. De La Cruz is one of the meet's leading riders and gives Sleepy (3) a tactical advantage. Among Klopp's five entrants, Sleepy (3) and Chocolate Moose (1) represent the barn's primary weapons.

Run Away Rojo (12) at 5-1 from Steve Asmussen with Keith J. Asmussen represents a classic national trainer shipping in for a regional stakes. Asmussen is one of the most successful trainers in North American racing history, and when he targets a state-bred stakes, the horse is properly pointed. Post 12 in a six-furlong sprint on the dirt is a wide draw that could cost ground, but Run Away Rojo (12) with Asmussen's preparation behind it is a genuine threat.

Secondary Choices

Latigo (2) at 8-1 is another Klopp runner with Irving Moncada and post 2 is a workable draw. Molly's Town (7) at 8-1 from Genaro Garcia's barn with Joseph D. Ramos represents Garcia's best chance in this race. Garcia also has Scotty's On Edge (4) at 10-1 and Slam Dunk Justice (10) at 15-1 in this field, giving Garcia a three-horse representation against the dominant Klopp stable.

Longshots

Win Me Over (5) at 12-1 from Robert M. Gorham's barn with Santo Sanjur and Follow The Money (8) at 12-1 from Klopp with Mitchell Murrill are worth noting. Murrill riding a Klopp horse at 12-1 in a stakes race is a combination worth a modest investment — Murrill's tactical ability could make Follow The Money (8) dangerous if the pace collapses the favored runners. Zolo (6) at 15-1 from Antonio Duran with R. Prescott, Mondavila (9) at 15-1, Slam Dunk Justice (10) at 15-1, and C. J's Storm (11) at 20-1 from John Haran with Samuel E. Bermudez are deep longshots in a competitive stakes field.

Selections

Win: Sleepy (3) Place: Run Away Rojo (12) Show: Chocolate Moose (1)

Betting Strategy: Use Sleepy (3) as the primary key in all multi-race wagers and single-race exotics. The Asmussen entry Run Away Rojo (12) deserves win consideration despite the wide post. Exacta: Sleepy (3) over Run Away Rojo (12) and Chocolate Moose (1). Trifecta: wheel Sleepy (3) on top over Run Away Rojo (12), Chocolate Moose (1), and Follow The Money (8) for a value combination. The post draw gives Sleepy (3) the clear edge over the other Klopp entries.

RACE 8 — Post (5:47) — 1,760 Yards | Turf | Cleopatra Handicap $150,000 | Purse $150,000

Pace Analysis

The feature race of the day is a one-mile turf handicap for fillies and mares carrying a $150,000 purse. Eleven runners go postward in what shapes as the most complex pace scenario on the card. East Jabip (4) at 4-1 and Soloist (9) at 4-1 are the co-morning-line favorites from nationally prominent barns. The Town Tempter (6) at 8-1 with Tyler Gaffalione represents an elite jockey booking that demands attention. Hit Parade (11) at 5-1 from Brad Cox's barn with Declan Cannon is another major player. The pace in an 11-horse turf mile will be strategic and measured, with positioning at the top of the stretch being the decisive factor.

Key Contenders

East Jabip (4) at 4-1 from Brian A. Lynch's barn with Luis Saez is one of the co-favorites. Lynch is a quality trainer at the upper levels of North American racing and his turf fillies consistently perform at or above the posted odds. Saez is the most accomplished jockey in this field and riding for a strong stable in a $150,000 race. Post 4 on the turf mile is an excellent draw. East Jabip (4) is the most confident selection in this race.

Soloist (9) at 4-1 from Kenneth G. McPeek's barn with Emmanuel Esquivel is the other co-favorite. McPeek is an elite turf conditioner with an excellent record in graded and listed stakes for fillies. Soloist (9) draws post 9 which creates a wider start on the turf, but McPeek's horses typically settle well regardless of position. This is a legitimate title contender.

Secondary Choices

Hit Parade (11) at 5-1 from Brad Cox's barn with Declan Cannon is a significant runner despite the outside post. Cox is one of the pre-eminent trainers in American racing and his turf fillies are consistently well-prepared. Cannon is a superb turf rider and the Cox-Cannon combination has produced big results at this level. Post 11 requires a wide run but Cox's horses manage traffic effectively. Hit Parade (11) must be included in all exotic plays.

The Town Tempter (6) at 8-1 from Brendan P. Walsh's barn with Tyler Gaffalione represents the best price-to-quality ratio in this field. Walsh is an elite trainer with a superb record in turf stakes for fillies and mares, and Gaffalione is among the top five jockeys in North America. At 8-1 in a 11-horse field, The Town Tempter (6) offers genuine overlay potential. Handicappers targeting the Cleopatra Handicap have identified Walsh-Gaffalione as a combination worth premium investment.

Back Ring Buzz (3) at 8-1 from Michael J. Maker's barn with Fernando De La Cruz is another live runner at a workable price. Maker is a skilled trainer at placing fillies in grass routes and De La Cruz is the meet's leading rider. Post 3 is an excellent draw on the turf.

Aggressive Lime (10) at 10-1 from Brad Cox's barn with Marcelino Pedroza is Cox's second entry. At 10-1 with Cox behind the horse, Aggressive Lime (10) deserves attention as a potential underlay situation where both Cox runners could run into each other's money.

Longshots

How About Now (8) at 6-1 from George R. Arnold II's barn with Axel Concepcion is a mid-price runner that could be dangerous if the pace sets up for a closer. Hollybygolly (5) at 15-1 from Rodolphe Brisset's barn with Luan Machado and Resplendence (1) at 15-1 from Paulo H. Lobo's barn with Alberto Burgos are worth minimum consideration in deep trifecta plays. Faye's Gold (2) at 20-1 from Grant T. Forster's barn with Jaime A. Torres and Tearin'up My Heart (7) at 30-1 from Genaro Garcia's barn with Edgar Morales are unlikely to factor in a competitive $150,000 turf stakes.

Selections

Win: East Jabip (4) Place: The Town Tempter (6) Show: Hit Parade (11)

Betting Strategy: The Cleopatra Handicap is the card's most important wagering race. Play East Jabip (4) to win and include The Town Tempter (6) and Hit Parade (11) in exacta combinations underneath. Trifecta: key East Jabip (4) on top, use The Town Tempter (6), Hit Parade (11), Soloist (9), and Back Ring Buzz (3) in second and third. The value play here is The Town Tempter (6) at 8-1 — Walsh-Gaffalione in a turf stakes is a combination that consistently outperforms morning line expectations. How About Now (8) at 6-1 deserves a place in deep superfecta constructions.

RACE 9 — Post (6:18) — 1,320 Yards | Dirt | Cornerstone Handicap $55,000 | Purse $55,000

Pace Analysis

The second stakes race features a tight seven-horse field with three co-favorites at 4-1: Don't Miss Out (1), Imagine The Moon (4), and Three Coats (5). Werk It Wendy (7) at 3-1 is the morning-line choice. This is a genuinely competitive six-furlong handicap that could produce any result among the top five in the market. The pace should be contested with multiple horses seeking the early advantage, which could set up the stretch for Werk It Wendy (7) if she sits a comfortable stalking position.

Key Contenders

Werk It Wendy (7) at 3-1 from Robert E. Dobbs Jr.'s barn with Evin A. Roman is the morning-line top choice. Post 7 in a seven-horse sprint can be a slight outside position, but in a small field the draw matters less than tactical ability. Roman has been effective this meet and Werk It Wendy (7) from the top-weighted spot in a handicap suggests connections believe the horse can give weight and win.

Three Coats (5) at 4-1 from Michael Lauer's barn with Tyler Gaffalione is arguably the most dangerous rival. Gaffalione's presence on any horse at any level makes that runner an automatic upgrade. In a stakes sprint at 4-1 with the nation's elite tactician in the irons, Three Coats (5) must be considered a strong alternative to Werk It Wendy (7) at the top. Lauer has had a productive spring meet and this appears to be a targeted spot.

Secondary Choices

Don't Miss Out (1) at 4-1 from Genaro Garcia's barn with Marcelino Pedroza gets the rail in a seven-horse field which is a genuine tactical asset in a sprint. Garcia is the leading trainer at this meet and Pedroza has been sharp. Imagine The Moon (4) at 4-1 from Antonio Duran's barn with R. Prescott is the third horse at 4-1 and provides the third dimension of pace threat in this field. Duran has been steady throughout the meet.

Ekati Flatter (3) at 6-1 from Randy Klopp's barn with Fernando De La Cruz is a horse worth including in exacta and trifecta structures. Klopp's barn has been one of the strongest at this meet and De La Cruz is a legitimate stakes-level rider. At 6-1, Ekati Flatter (3) represents overlay potential.

Longshots

Hot Middles (2) at 6-1 from Tianna Richardville's barn with Hannah Leahey is the other mid-price runner in this field. At 6-1 in a tight seven-horse stakes, Hot Middles (2) cannot be entirely dismissed. Sassy Katie (6) at 10-1 from Robert Pompell's barn with Alexander Bendezu is the longest price in the field and would represent a significant upset.

Selections

Win: Three Coats (5) Place: Werk It Wendy (7) Show: Don't Miss Out (1)

Betting Strategy: Gaffalione on Three Coats (5) at 4-1 is the single best-value betting proposition in the stakes races on this card. Play Three Coats (5) to win. Exacta: Three Coats (5) over Werk It Wendy (7) and Don't Miss Out (1). Trifecta: Three Coats (5) over Werk It Wendy (7)/Don't Miss Out (1)/Ekati Flatter (3)/Imagine The Moon (4). This is a must-use race in any late Pick 3 or Pick 4 sequence.

RACE 10 — Post (6:49) — 1,100 Yards | Turf | Maiden Special Weight | Purse $43,520

Pace Analysis

Art Gropper's best bet of the day comes from this race — an 1100-yard turf maiden for fillies. Amani's Music (7) at 1-1 is the overwhelming morning-line favorite from Brad Cox's barn with Fernando De La Cruz in the irons. Cox is one of the most accomplished trainers in North American racing and when a Cox-trained maiden is installed at even money for a turf debut or turf sprint, the performance of the betting market typically confirms that the barn has high confidence. The pace in a short turf sprint with 11 runners will be quick from the outside posts and moderate from the inside, making mid-post positions attractive. Post 7 is ideal in this configuration.

Key Contenders

Amani's Music (7) at 1-1 is the clear standout. Brad Cox entering a maiden at even money in a turf sprint with Fernando De La Cruz — the meet's most active jockey — is the signature combination of the late card. Post 7 avoids the inside rail scramble at the first turn of a turf sprint and positions the horse for a clean run. At 1-1, the only legitimate wagering question is whether the price justifies a straight win bet or whether the value lies in using Amani's Music (7) in exotics.

Secondary Choices

La Puma (3) at 4-1 from Rey Hernandez's barn with Santo Sanjur is the second choice and the most credible alternative. Hernandez has been competitive at this level and Sanjur has ridden turf sprints effectively throughout the meet. Post 3 could be problematic in an 11-horse turf sprint, but La Puma (3) at 4-1 is the horse most likely to upset Amani's Music (7) if the favorite underperforms.

Jr Miss Buttercup (1) at 6-1 from Joseph D. Davis's barn with Marcelino Pedroza is a legitimate contender from inside post 1. Pedroza is experienced with turf sprint rail trips and Davis has had success at this meet. Diamond Rock Hill (6) at 6-1 from Michael W. McCarthy's barn with Axel Concepcion brings a prominent trainer to the equation. McCarthy is capable of producing sharp debuts on the turf and Diamond Rock Hill (6) deserves respect in exacta plays.

Longshots

Candy Sprinkles (11) at 8-1 from Robert M. Gorham's barn with Santo Sanjur — note Sanjur has the mount on both La Puma (3) and Candy Sprinkles (11), which may result in a jockey change for one of the two. This is worth monitoring pre-race. Startin Trouble (8) at 10-1 from D. Whitworth Beckman with Joseph D. Ramos and No Self Control (10) at 10-1 from Miguel Silva with Alex Achard are secondary longshots. American Surfer (9) at 15-1 from Jeremiah O'Dwyer's barn with Adam Beschizza is a trainer worth noting in turf races. Madam Rocket (2) at 30-1, Lolly Poppin (4) at 20-1, Yalorde (5) at 30-1 are extreme longshots in a field that should be dominated by Amani's Music (7).

Selections

Win: Amani's Music (7) Place: La Puma (3) Show: Diamond Rock Hill (6)

Betting Strategy: Amani's Music (7) is the best bet of the day as identified by leading handicappers. Bet to win at 1-1 and use in all multi-race sequences. The exacta value comes from pairing Amani's Music (7) on top with La Puma (3), Jr Miss Buttercup (1), and Diamond Rock Hill (6) underneath at prices that could generate meaningful payoffs. This is the best single-race anchor for the late Pick 3 (Races 9-10-11).

RACE 11 — Post (7:17) — 330 Yards | Dirt | Allowance $19,500 NW2L | Purse $19,500

Pace Analysis

The card closes with a 330-yard quarter horse sprint, the shortest race on the program. At 330 yards, pure gate speed and raw acceleration are the dominant factors. Post position, gate behavior, and a horse's ability to hit top speed within the first few strides determine the outcome. The 14-horse field is the largest on the card and creates a challenging wagering environment where even small differences in gate break can produce dramatic changes in finishing position.

Key Contenders

Seeudontwannabu (3) at 4-1 from Ron Raper's barn with Cristian Penaloza is one of the co-morning-line favorites in this 14-horse sprint. At 330 yards, any horse at 4-1 with barn confidence behind the bet deserves serious attention. Raper is experienced in quarter horse conditioning and Seeudontwannabu (3) from post 3 gets an inside draw that could be favorable if the horse breaks cleanly.

Beach Feature (4) at 4-1 from Shawna Martin's barn with Aron Hunt is the other co-morning-line favorite. Martin also has Beach Chickz (14) in this field at 30-1, suggesting Beach Feature (4) is the barn's primary choice. Post 4 is a clean middle-inside draw. Hunt knows the Martin barn's horses well and the 4-1 price reflects genuine barn confidence.

Secondary Choices

Hf Firecracker (2) at 5-1 from Jessica A. Vazquez's barn with Giovani Vazquez-Gomez is worth serious attention. The trainer-jockey combination within the same family operation often produces horses that are properly fit and confident. Dashin Quick Corona (7) at 6-1 is Vazquez's second entry with Carlos Ruiz-Cortez, giving the barn a two-pronged attack.

Absolute Domination (9) at 6-1 from Tony Cunningham's barn with Luz Daniel Martinez represents a horse whose name suggests appropriate attitude for a 330-yard sprint. Cunningham also has Blackberry Kiss (11) at 12-1 in this field. One Grand Eagle (8) at 8-1 from Tim Eggleston's barn with Luis Eduardo Luna Diaz is another live contender — Eggleston has had consistent results throughout this meet.

Longshots

Keenies Final Gift (12) at 8-1 from Raul De La Mora's barn with Hugo Macias is a price worth a trifecta bottom in a 14-horse quarter horse sprint where chaos is a legitimate outcome. Runaway Deluxe (1) at 15-1 is notable for the trainer-jockey combination being the same person: German Rodriguez. This is unusual and suggests an owner-trainer-jockey connection. Cv B Dynamic (6) at 10-1 from Claudio Barraza with Edgar Diaz, Vikina (10) at 12-1 from Ricardo Martinez with Martin Munoz, Blackberry Kiss (11) at 12-1, Ae King Jb (5) at 30-1 from Eggleston's barn, and Dna Zoomers Cyber (13) at 20-1 from Natasha Perez with Diego Villamil Bocanegra and Beach Chickz (14) at 30-1 round out the field at prices suggesting they face significant challenges in a competitive quarter horse allowance.

Selections

Win: Beach Feature (4) Place: Hf Firecracker (2) Show: Seeudontwannabu (3)

Betting Strategy: In a 14-horse quarter horse sprint, the key is identifying the most likely gate-speed horses from clean draws. Use Beach Feature (4) and Seeudontwannabu (3) in a dual-key exacta box. Include Hf Firecracker (2), Absolute Domination (9), and One Grand Eagle (8) in trifecta combinations. Wide superfectas are appropriate given the field size and the inherent unpredictability of 330-yard sprints.

Jockey Notes and Insights

Fernando De La Cruz has been the standout rider of the Horseshoe Indianapolis spring meet. He carries mounts in Race 1 on Concho's Prayer (7), Race 7 on Sleepy (3), Race 8 on Back Ring Buzz (3), Race 9 on Ekati Flatter (3), and Race 10 on Amani's Music (7). His book today is exceptional, featuring rides for Klopp, Maker, and Brad Cox — three of the most effective training operations represented on this card. De La Cruz's multiple high-profile bookings suggest he is the go-to pilot for top barns at this meet.

Tyler Gaffalione ships in for two key mounts: Three Coats (5) in Race 9 and presumably traveling for the competitive stakes program. Gaffalione is a nationally elite jockey whose acceptance of any mount is a strong endorsement of that horse's winning chances. His presence on Three Coats (5) in the Cornerstone Handicap elevates that horse significantly above its 4-1 morning line.

Luis Saez appears on Justhappytobehere (3) in Race 6 and East Jabip (4) in Race 8. Saez is among the top three jockeys in North America by earnings and win percentage. When Saez books a ride at a regional track, connections are serious about winning. His presence in the Cleopatra Handicap on the Lynch barn's East Jabip (4) makes that horse a primary target.

Mitchell Murrill, another elite-tier rider, takes the mount on Money Monday (6) in Race 3 and Follow The Money (8) in Race 7. His presence on Money Monday (6) at 6-1 in a competitive maiden sprint makes that runner a strong value play. In Race 7, Follow The Money (8) at 12-1 with Murrill is a legitimate trifecta bomb in the Opportunity Handicap.

Declan Cannon rides Passing Judgment (2) in Race 6 and Hit Parade (11) in Race 8 for Brad Cox. Cannon is a skilled turf jockey and his dual bookings on strong stable's horses make him a key follow throughout the afternoon.

Samuel E. Bermudez appears to be double-booked in Race 10 on Doubledogjustice (12) in Race 6 and carries several mounts across the card. His presence is noted particularly in Race 4 on Tiz Eddie (6) from the Medina barn.

Santo Sanjur has multiple bookings on the card including Allbarknobite (2) in Race 2, C U Whenugetthere (1) in Race 3, Win Me Over (5) in Race 7, and La Puma (3) in Race 10. The potential conflict between La Puma (3) and Candy Sprinkles (11) in Race 10 should be monitored for any jockey changes.

Trainer Notes and Insights

Randy Klopp is the dominant trainer story of this card. He enters five horses in Race 7 alone — Chocolate Moose (1), Latigo (2), Sleepy (3), Follow The Money (8), and Mondavila (9) — and has multiple entries throughout the card including Covert Kid (3) in Race 1 and Stuck In Park (5) in Race 3 and Ekati Flatter (3) in Race 9. Klopp's stable volume at Horseshoe Indianapolis is remarkable and his win percentage is one of the highest at this meet. Among his Race 7 entries, Sleepy (3) with De La Cruz from post 3 is identified as the primary weapon.

Brad Cox fields runners in Race 7 through Race 10, confirming his commitment to the Horseshoe Indianapolis meet for the stakes program. His Amani's Music (7) at 1-1 in Race 10 is the card's best bet and his Race 8 entries Hit Parade (11) and Aggressive Lime (10) make him the most prominent national trainer presence on this card.

Steve Asmussen's entry of Run Away Rojo (12) in Race 7 with son Keith Asmussen up is a significant angle. Asmussen does not ship horses casually to regional tracks for $55,000 stakes unless connections believe the horse is properly placed. Run Away Rojo (12) at 5-1 represents legitimate value for a horse from North America's leading training operation.

Genaro Garcia is the other high-volume trainer on this card, entering horses in Races 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, and 9. Garcia leads the Horseshoe Indianapolis trainer standings in starts and his best horses today are Sir Bahjy (3) in Race 4 and Don't Miss Out (1) in Race 9. His stable volume means he will be competitive throughout the program.

Tim Eggleston consistently places horses in productive spots throughout this meet. His entries today include Concho's Prayer (7) in Race 1 and Amigomeister (4) in Race 2, both legitimate contenders at solid prices.

Brendan P. Walsh and Michael J. Maker are the two most accomplished national trainers in the Cleopatra Handicap aside from Cox and Lynch. Walsh's The Town Tempter (6) at 8-1 with Gaffalione in Race 8 is identified as the top value play in the feature, and Maker's Back Ring Buzz (3) at 8-1 with De La Cruz is another quality contender from a trainer with elite turf credentials.

Kenneth G. McPeek's Soloist (9) at 4-1 in Race 8 carries the co-morning-line for a trainer who has won multiple graded stakes for fillies on the turf. McPeek is dangerous in any turf stakes and Soloist (9) is a genuine title contender.

Best Wagering Strategies and Value Plays

The card today at Horseshoe Indianapolis is structured around two primary opportunities: the feature stakes races in the middle and late card, and the best-bet single in Race 10 on Amani's Music (7).

The single most important value proposition on the card is The Town Tempter (6) at 8-1 in Race 8 with Tyler Gaffalione and trainer Brendan P. Walsh. Walsh-Gaffalione in a turf stakes for fillies and mares is a combination that consistently outperforms morning line odds. At 8-1 in the $150,000 Cleopatra Handicap, The Town Tempter (6) represents the most significant pricing error on the board. A modest win investment with a larger exacta role is the recommended play. Use The Town Tempter (6) in all Race 8 exactas and trifectas.

The second-best value is Follow The Money (8) at 12-1 with Mitchell Murrill in Race 7. Murrill taking a 12-1 shot from the Klopp barn in a $55,000 stakes adds credibility to what would otherwise be a throwaway price. In a 12-horse sprint with multiple Klopp entries creating pace chaos, Follow The Money (8) could inherit a ground-saving trip and finish powerfully.

For the late Pick 3 covering Races 9, 10, and 11: use Three Coats (5) in Race 9, single Amani's Music (7) in Race 10 as the best bet, and spread to Beach Feature (4), Seeudontwannabu (3), and Hf Firecracker (2) in Race 11. This structure — Three Coats (5) / Amani's Music (7) / three closers in the quarter horse — should produce a manageable ticket cost with significant potential return given the volatile nature of the 330-yard closer.

For the Pick 4 covering Races 8 through 11: use East Jabip (4) and The Town Tempter (6) in Race 8, single Amani's Music (7) in Race 10, and spread lightly in Races 9 and 11. A two-horse key in Race 8 over a single in Race 10 with spreads in the other two legs creates excellent value structure.

For the Pick 5 covering Races 7 through 11: the most logical structure is Sleepy (3) and Run Away Rojo (12) in Race 7, East Jabip (4) and The Town Tempter (6) in Race 8, Three Coats (5) in Race 9, single Amani's Music (7) in Race 10, and Beach Feature (4) plus Seeudontwannabu (3) in Race 11. This creates a 2 x 2 x 1 x 1 x 2 ticket of 8 combinations at $1 base, a $8 base cost, which is highly manageable for the potential payoff of connecting five legs including a $150,000 stakes and a $55,000 stakes along the sequence.

The daily double value play in Race 9 and Race 10 is straightforward: Three Coats (5) and Amani's Music (7). If Three Coats (5) wins the Cornerstone Handicap at 4-1 and Amani's Music (7) wins at 1-1, the daily double payoff could return meaningful value given the combined true odds.

For bettors focused purely on win wagering today, the priority list is: Amani's Music (7) in Race 10 as the card's best bet, The Town Tempter (6) in Race 8 as the best value play, Three Coats (5) in Race 9 for the Gaffalione angle, Sleepy (3) in Race 7 for the Klopp-De La Cruz combination from the optimal post, and Pernicious (6) in Race 5 as the strongest maiden claiming selection.
