MOUNTAINEER PARK — MAY 11, 2026 RACE DAY OVERVIEW

Mountaineer Park rolls out an eight-race Monday card on May 11, 2026, with first post scheduled for 7:00 PM ET. The card features a solid mix of maiden claimers, straight claimers, allowance company, and a maiden special weight event to anchor the middle of the card. Purses range from a modest $7,000 bottom in Race 8 up to $21,000 in the allowance feature in Race 7. The card skews heavily toward claiming stock, which is typical of Mountaineer's bread-and-butter Monday programming. With the Ramgeet barn running a stable entry in Race 1, the Bernardini outfit firing in multiple races, and Eric Reed dropping a runner into an allowance in Race 7, there are several live trainer angles to monitor throughout the evening. The full card draws nine post positions in Race 8 and ten in Race 4, giving bettors plenty of exotics to play into. The back half of the card, particularly Races 6, 7, and 8, offers the most wagering opportunities for players looking to build exotic tickets.

WEATHER AND TRACK CONDITIONS

Morgantown, West Virginia, and the surrounding Northern Panhandle region are forecast to see partly cloudy skies on the evening of May 11, 2026, with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 50s at post time. There is a low probability of precipitation through the early evening hours, with a modest chance of a light shower approaching from the northwest later in the night. Wind is expected out of the southwest at 8 to 12 miles per hour. The main track at Mountaineer Park is projected to be listed as fast at the start of the card. Should any rain materialize during the later races, there is a possibility of a good-to-sloppy transition by Races 7 or 8, though the majority of the card should be contested over a conventional fast surface.

TRACK BIAS AND POST POSITION ANALYSIS

Mountaineer Park's one-mile dirt oval has historically exhibited a moderate speed-favoring bias, particularly in sprint distances. The inside posts, specifically posts 1 through 3, can be advantageous in route races where early positioning along the rail saves ground. In sprint events, the gate-to-first-turn configuration at Mountaineer slightly favors horses breaking from the middle posts, roughly posts 3 through 6, as horses in the extreme outside in full fields can be at a disadvantage breaking into the first turn from a wide position.

On a fast, dry surface, Mountaineer's main track tends to play fair from side to side, though there is often a slight advantage to horses that can secure a stalking position two to three lengths off the pace and make one sustained run through the stretch. Pure front-runners do get loose on occasion and steal races on this track, but the closers at Mountaineer have shown they can get home if the pace is honest. In the sprints on tonight's card, horses that combine early foot with tactical flexibility will have an edge. In the two-turn routes in Races 4 and 7, inside positioning early will be valuable, and horses breaking from posts 1 through 4 should have a structural advantage.

RACE 1 — Post (7:00)/6:00/5:00/4:00 — 1320f | D | M | Md 7500 | BUN | Purse $10,000

Pace Analysis

This is an open maiden claiming sprint at 1320 furlongs for maiden horses eligible to be claimed for $7,500. The field of seven presents a pace scenario that could develop into a fairly contested early duel. How About It (POST 5) figures to establish the tempo from the outside of the inside contingent and may face early pressure from the Ramgeet barn's entry. Souper Justified (POST 3) and Semper Anticus (POST 4) represent the coupled Ramgeet entry, and if one or both show early foot, the pace could get honest in the middle stages. Finn D'oro (POST 7) has shown some ability to rate and could be in a strong stalking position if the speed horses hash it out up front.

Key Contenders

How About It (POST 5) exits the Jay P. Bernardini barn and draws the morning line favoritism at 2-1 with good reason. Bernardini has been one of the more productive outfits at Mountaineer, and his horses regularly show up ready to fire in the lower maiden claiming ranks. Luis Tapara has been effective at the meet and gets the call here. How About It (POST 5) should be able to secure a forward position out of post five and sustain pressure through the lane.

Finn D'oro (POST 7) comes from the Robert S. Scallan barn at 5-1 and has shown flashes of ability in recent work. The outside post at 1320 furlongs is not ideal, but Monserrate gets the mount and can work the horse into a reasonable stalking position without using excessive energy early. Scallan has shown patience with his maiden claimers and the horse could be ready to graduate here.

Secondary Choices

R Elliot (POST 2) is trained by Gabe Shafer and draws Bailey Weatherly, who has been active and effective at this meet. The 4-1 morning line is fair, and the inside draw helps in a sprint. Shafer has quietly moved a few horses through the claiming ranks and this one could offer value if the pace scenario sets up for a presser.

Souper Justified (POST 3) and Semper Anticus (POST 4), the Ramgeet stable entry at 4-1, present an interesting situation. Tina Ramgeet puts her own son A R Ramgeet on Souper Justified (POST 3) while Ricardo Barrios takes Semper Anticus (POST 4). Having two horses in the gate gives the barn tactical flexibility, and they could use one to set tempo and the other to pounce. The entry price of 4-1 on a coupled pair offers legitimate value.

Longshots

National Punchline (POST 1) is a significant overlay candidate only if conditions change dramatically. The 20-1 morning line on a maiden claimer this modest suggests a horse that may be short on recent form or facing a step up in difficulty. Alejandro Gomez takes the mount and can coax a performance, but this one appears to be roster filler at these odds.

Pop Neigh (POST 6) at 15-1 is trained by Juan Carlos Vazquez and sends Augustin Bracho to the irons. Vazquez is not without ability on this circuit, but at 15-1 in a sprint against decent maiden claimers, the price reflects the horse's realistic chances.

Selections

Win: How About It (POST 5) Place: Finn D'oro (POST 7) Show: R Elliot (POST 2)

Betting Strategy: Single How About It (POST 5) on top in exactas with Finn D'oro (POST 7) and R Elliot (POST 2). The Ramgeet entry at 4-1 offers place value as a backup.

RACE 2 — Post (7:25)/6:25/5:25/4:25 — 1320f | D | C | Clm 4000n2x | BUM | Purse $9,000

Pace Analysis

Nine fillies and mares line up in this $4,000 claiming sprint restricted to horses that have not won two races. The pace picture is muddled enough that closers could have a legitimate shot if the speed horses battle. Siljim (POST 7) is the morning line favorite at 2-1 and has the profile of a horse that has found a winnable spot. Nun Gimel Hay Po (POST 3) and Cicatriz (POST 9) both project as early movers that could put pressure on any front-runners, creating a pace scenario that might benefit a rallier. Revocata (POST 4) with Alejandro Gomez could track the pace and pounce.

Key Contenders

Siljim (POST 7) out of the Donald T. Blankenship barn with Bailey Weatherly is the clear public choice at 2-1. In a field of nine at this modest claiming level, Blankenship keeps a tidy operation and has put Weatherly on horses that are meant to fire. Weatherly's familiarity with the Mountaineer surface is a significant edge in a race at this level. Siljim (POST 7) gets a middle draw and should have options tactically.

Cicatriz (POST 9) is trained by Timothy Shanley at 4-1 morning line and drew the outside post in a nine-horse field. Shanley has been competitive at Mountaineer, and the horse that breaks from the nine-hole in a 1320-furlong sprint faces an early tactical disadvantage, but J. Stokes is capable of finding a workable position. If Cicatriz (POST 9) can secure early positioning without burning too much early energy, she remains a serious threat.

Secondary Choices

Nun Gimel Hay Po (POST 3) is trained by Jeff Fletcher at 4-1 with Y. Yaranga up. Fletcher moves this one to a level that appears spot-on, and the three-hole is favorable in a sprint. Yaranga has had solid mounts at this meet and should have the horse in a good striking position.

Revocata (POST 4) at 8-1 with Alejandro Gomez for Timothy Gilbert is interesting. Gomez, despite playing the role of a journeyman at this track, consistently gets horses to run their best race. At 8-1 in a nine-horse field of $4,000 claimers, Revocata (POST 4) may offer genuine value if the pace sets up perfectly.

Longshots

My Angel Does (POST 6) is trained by Alejandro Gomez and ridden by Jairo H. Hernandez at 10-1. The trainer-as-conditioner angle with a different jockey assigned is a flag worth noting. Kingdom's Spirit (POST 1) at 12-1 from the L. Craig Cox barn with Charles Oliveros could fire a big effort from the rail, though 12-1 reflects the public's skepticism. Bougie Like (POST 8) at 12-1 for John T. Brown with Kevin Gonzalez is another longshot to include in exotic tickets only. Heavenly Lady (POST 5) at 20-1 from the Scallan barn with Michael Y. Pagan is likely outclassed here despite the trainer's competence at the meet. Solo Surprise (POST 2) at 15-1 for Sara Stanoszek with Monserrate is a notable longshot whose odds suggest modest recent form.

Selections

Win: Siljim (POST 7) Place: Cicatriz (POST 9) Show: Nun Gimel Hay Po (POST 3)

Betting Strategy: Siljim (POST 7) on top in exactas with Cicatriz (POST 9) and Nun Gimel Hay Po (POST 3). Include Revocata (POST 4) as a singled-out value play in trifecta bottom combinations at 8-1.

RACE 3 — Post (7:50)/6:50/5:50/4:50 — 1210f | D | M | Md 7500 | BOF | Purse $10,000

Pace Analysis

Seven fillies contest this 1210-furlong maiden claiming sprint. Princess Azara (POST 4) is the morning line favorite at 2-1 and projects as the likely pace-setter or early leader who may be difficult to catch if she gets loose on the front end. Gorda (POST 6) and Silver Wishes (POST 7) represent secondary contenders at 4-1 each who could press the tempo and set up a closer. Catrina Zar (POST 3) at 5-1 should track the pace and be a factor on the turn for home.

Key Contenders

Princess Azara (POST 4) out of Jay P. Bernardini's barn is the clear top selection at 2-1. B. Whitacre gets the mount and should have her prominently placed from a favorable post. Bernardini is consistently competitive in the maiden claiming ranks at Mountaineer and sends this one in as a clear public choice. If she shows the kind of early foot her odds suggest she possesses, catching her could be a challenge in this modest field.

Gorda (POST 6) is trained by Robert L. Inman at 4-1 with Charles Oliveros aboard. Inman's horses tend to be fit when they arrive at the gate, and Gorda (POST 6) from the six-hole has a tactical advantage in a seven-horse field. Oliveros has been picking up quality mounts at this meet.

Secondary Choices

Catrina Zar (POST 3) at 5-1 from the Vazquez barn with F. Garcia is a legitimate contender. Vazquez manages a busy operation and this filly gets a favorable inside draw at the sprint distance. If Princess Azara (POST 4) gets pressured by Silver Wishes (POST 7), Catrina Zar (POST 3) could be the beneficiary sitting in the garden spot in third.

Silver Wishes (POST 7) is trained by James K. Chapman at 4-1 with Luis Negron up. Chapman quietly conditions horses that run to their prices, and at 4-1 in a wide-open maiden field, Silver Wishes (POST 7) is worth including in all exotics.

Longshots

Jacarandosa (POST 5) at 8-1 for Juan Carlos Gotera with Michael Y. Pagan is a filly that could fire at a price if the favorite falters. She's A Rock (POST 2) at 15-1 for Sara Stanoszek with Y. Yaranga is a deep longshot. Impostora (POST 1) at 12-1 from the Bernardini barn second string with Luis Tapara is an interesting stable second choice who could offer exotic value if the main Bernardini entry breaks slowly.

Selections

Win: Princess Azara (POST 4) Place: Gorda (POST 6) Show: Catrina Zar (POST 3)

Betting Strategy: Use Princess Azara (POST 4) as the top single in win and exacta wagering. Box Gorda (POST 6), Catrina Zar (POST 3), and Silver Wishes (POST 7) underneath. Consider a small trifecta key with Princess Azara (POST 4) on top.

RACE 4 — Post (8:15)/7:15/6:15/5:15 — 1760f | D | C | Clm 4000n1y | BUN | Purse $9,000

Pace Analysis

Ten horses go two turns in this $4,000 claiming route for horses that have not won a race in the prior year. This is a full field at a route distance and the pace setup is critical. Cavendish (POST 8) is the 2-1 morning line choice and likely has tactical speed to position close. Hard Astray (POST 9) at 4-1 also projects as an early mover. With Cavendish (POST 8) and Hard Astray (POST 9) both potentially vying for early positioning from outside posts, the pace could get honest, which would theoretically set up horses with late kick. High Rolling Dude (POST 3) at 5-1 inside should get a ground-saving trip.

Key Contenders

Cavendish (POST 8) from the Crystal Cain barn with F. Garcia at 2-1 is the public's selection and draws warranted attention. The Cain barn runs multiple horses in this race with High Rolling Dude (POST 3) and Cavendish (POST 8) both entered, which gives them tactical leverage. Garcia is a strong rider at this circuit and Cavendish (POST 8) has the profile of a horse that has been pointing to this spot.

Hard Astray (POST 9) is trained by Jeff Fletcher at 4-1 with Y. Yaranga, and the outside draw in a ten-horse field at a route distance is a minor concern, but Fletcher has consistently put horses on the board at Mountaineer. Yaranga should be able to get this one into a forward position before the first turn.

Secondary Choices

High Rolling Dude (POST 3) at 5-1 is the Cain barn's second entry and gets the B. Whitacre mount. Being stablemates with the favorite can work in the horse's favor tactically, and an inside draw in a route is a significant advantage. High Rolling Dude (POST 3) should get a ground-saving trip down the backside and be a live threat in the stretch.

North Warden (POST 4) at 8-1 for Julie Robillard with Luis Alberto Batista is a horse worth noting. Robillard trains a small but occasionally competitive stable and North Warden (POST 4) from a favorable route post could grab a piece of the exotics at a generous price.

Longshots

Tiz Speedy (POST 1) at 6-1 from the Bernardini barn with Augustin Bracho could rate inside and be a factor in a route. Captain Creed (POST 5) at 12-1 for Gregory Viands with Luis Negron is a deep longshot. Gambling Tzar (POST 10) at 10-1 for Vazquez with Kevin Gonzalez draws the outside post in a ten-horse field, which is a significant structural disadvantage at a route distance. Zaddy (POST 7) at 15-1 for Carlos A. Lopez with Alejandro Gomez and Leo And Royal (POST 2) at 20-1 for Tomas Martinez with J C Mera are likely tail-enders in this field. Tapio (POST 6) at 20-1 for Stacey R. Viands with J. Stokes rounds out the longshots.

Selections

Win: Cavendish (POST 8) Place: High Rolling Dude (POST 3) Show: Hard Astray (POST 9)

Betting Strategy: The Cain barn entry sets up a strong exacta opportunity using Cavendish (POST 8) and High Rolling Dude (POST 3) in combination. Box these two with Hard Astray (POST 9) in trifectas. Tiz Speedy (POST 1) at 6-1 could sneak into the trifecta at a nice price.

RACE 5 — Post (8:40)/7:40/6:40/5:40 — 440f | D | C | Clm 10000 | BUN | Purse $14,500

Pace Analysis

This is the only pure sprint at 440 furlongs on the card, a straight quarter-mile dash at the $10,000 claiming level. Nine horses line up and the pace will be nuclear from the outset — every runner will be asked to give maximum effort from the bell. Cash Customer (POST 4) is the 2-1 favorite and figures to be among the quickest out of the gate. Where Ya At Vince (POST 2) at 3-1 is another horse known for gate speed. Emperorofthedark (POST 7) and Miss Nuckols (POST 8) are both at 4-1 and project as strong finishers who could run past tired horses in the second half of this sprint.

Key Contenders

Cash Customer (POST 4) trained by Danny Bird with Ricardo Barrios is the morning line choice at 2-1. Bird conditions horses specifically for this type of short-field dash, and Barrios is one of the more aggressive riders at the meet, which is exactly what you want in a 440-furlong event. Cash Customer (POST 4) from the center post should break cleanly and be on top or near it in the opening jumps.

Where Ya At Vince (POST 2) is trained by Kevin J. Joy at 3-1 with Luis Alberto Batista. The two-hole is a strong post in a nine-horse 440 dash, and Batista can get this horse into gear quickly. Joy's sprinters typically show up ready to fire, and Where Ya At Vince (POST 2) could push or beat Cash Customer (POST 4) if he breaks even slightly sharper.

Secondary Choices

Emperorofthedark (POST 7) at 4-1 from Tara B. Reffner's barn with Bailey Weatherly is an interesting angle. Weatherly has been one of the more consistent riders at this meet and the seven-hole in a 440 dash is workable. REFFNER horses in short dashes can fire at a price and this one at 4-1 offers genuine value.

Miss Nuckols (POST 8) at 4-1 for C. Marshall Godsey with Y. Yaranga is another live contender. Godsey trains specifically for these short dash distances and has shown an ability to have sprinters peak-fit at the right moment. The eight-hole is an outer draw but in a straight 440, post position matters less than pure gate speed and conditioning.

Longshots

Kool Kathmandu (POST 5) at 12-1 for Wilson C. Langley with B. Whitacre is a horse that could pop at a price in the right setup. No Name Dude (POST 1) at 15-1 for Moises Valdez with Alejandro Gomez draws the inside, which in a 440 straight run is neither an advantage nor a disadvantage. El Cardinal (POST 9) at 15-1 for Jami C. Poole with Elijah Greenidge is a deep longshot. Bustin Loose (POST 3) at 20-1 for Randy Bayley with Michael Y. Pagan and El Marro (POST 6) at 20-1 for Jose A. Romero with Miguel L. Martinez appear to be longshots with limited realistic prospects.

Selections

Win: Cash Customer (POST 4) Place: Where Ya At Vince (POST 2) Show: Emperorofthedark (POST 7)

Betting Strategy: In a 440-furlong dash, exacta boxing the top two is the preferred approach. Box Cash Customer (POST 4) and Where Ya At Vince (POST 2). Use Emperorofthedark (POST 7) and Miss Nuckols (POST 8) in trifecta keys underneath the top two.

RACE 6 — Post (9:05)/8:05/7:05/6:05 — 1320f | D | S | Md Sp Wt | BUN | Purse $19,000

Pace Analysis

The maiden special weight event at 1320 furlongs draws nine horses and is the best-quality sprint on the card. Red Cloud (POST 6) at 2-1 is the clear public choice, likely trained by J. Michael Baird, who also sends Doom Loop (POST 4) into this race. The Baird barn having two runners in the same maiden special weight event suggests genuine confidence in both horses and creates an interesting dynamic. Red Cloud (POST 6) projects as a pace factor or potential front-runner, while Doom Loop (POST 4) at 3-1 could track and pounce. Eyesonthecandy (POST 7) at 5-1 could press the pace and be a factor.

Key Contenders

Red Cloud (POST 6) is the morning line choice at 2-1 from J. Michael Baird with Angel I. Diaz in the irons. Baird is a respected conditioner who has developed quality horses through the maiden ranks at this circuit. Red Cloud (POST 6) from a middle-outside draw in a nine-horse sprint should get a clean break and have options to set pace or stalk. At 2-1 in a maiden special weight, the public has spoken clearly about this one's chances.

Doom Loop (POST 4) at 3-1 is stablemate to Red Cloud (POST 6) and gets F. Garcia up. Garcia is a solid jockey at Mountaineer and the four-hole is ideal in a nine-horse sprint. The Baird barn could tactically use Doom Loop (POST 4) as the stalker while Red Cloud (POST 6) sets the pace, making both horses live threats. At 3-1, this is genuinely good value given the tactical setup.

Secondary Choices

Eyesonthecandy (POST 7) at 5-1 is trained by Angelo G. Jackson with J. Stokes. The Jackson barn sends a second runner, Breadman'shoneybun (POST 2), into this race as well, though the odds differential is stark between them. Eyesonthecandy (POST 7) is the barn's serious contender and Stokes should have this one in a good striking position from post seven.

Pay Da Baby (POST 9) at 6-1 for Michael E. Jones Jr. with Ricardo Barrios is the last legitimate contender in the field. Jones has moved horses up the ladder at Mountaineer and Barrios in the irons in a maiden special weight sprint is a solid combination. The outside post is a minor disadvantage, but in a nine-horse sprint, manageable.

Longshots

My Father's Son (POST 1) at 15-1 for Crystal G. Pickett with B. Whitacre gets the rail draw and could be a sneaky factor if the pace develops into a heated battle. Midnight Stroller (POST 5) at 12-1 for Devan Ewell Sr. with Monserrate is a barn that knows the circuit well. The Groom's Jul (POST 8) at 12-1 is the second Ewell entry with Augustin Bracho, another wide longshot. Junito's Boy (POST 3) at 20-1 for Christopher L. Gray with R. Diaz and Breadman'shoneybun (POST 2) at 20-1 for Jackson with Charles Oliveros round out the deep longshots.

Selections

Win: Red Cloud (POST 6) Place: Doom Loop (POST 4) Show: Eyesonthecandy (POST 7)

Betting Strategy: The Baird barn exacta of Red Cloud (POST 6) over Doom Loop (POST 4) is the play of the race. Also consider the reverse, Doom Loop (POST 4) over Red Cloud (POST 6), as a saver. Use Eyesonthecandy (POST 7) and Pay Da Baby (POST 9) in trifecta combinations underneath.

RACE 7 — Post (9:30)/8:30/7:30/6:30 — 1760f | D | A | Alw 21000n2x | BUN | Purse $21,000

Pace Analysis

This is the featured race of the evening, an allowance route at 1760 furlongs for horses that have not won two races other than maiden, claiming, or starter. Seven horses contest the richest race on the card. Stomping Moon (POST 3) at 2-1 from the Bernardini barn with Rocco Bowen is the morning line choice. Afraidofthebunny (POST 2) at 3-1 from the Randy Bayley stable is the main threat. The pace at a route distance with only seven horses could be moderate, giving front-runners and pressers an advantage over pure closers. Z Dancer (POST 1) from the rail could get a ground-saving trip.

Key Contenders

Stomping Moon (POST 3) is the headliner at 2-1 from Jay P. Bernardini's operation with Rocco Bowen taking the mount. Bowen is one of the more experienced route riders at this circuit and the three-hole gives Stomping Moon (POST 3) an ideal position to rate just off any early pace and make a sweeping move. Bernardini has consistently produced horses that run well in allowance company and this one should be fit and ready.

Afraidofthebunny (POST 2) at 3-1 from Randy Bayley with Michael Y. Pagan is a serious challenge to the favorite. Bayley conditions horses with patience and purpose, and Afraidofthebunny (POST 2) at 3-1 in an allowance route is fair value. Pagan will have this one in a comfortable position early and pressing or stalking depending on what develops in front.

Secondary Choices

Mr Scatter (POST 7) at 4-1 for Michael E. Jones Jr. with Ricardo Barrios is the most interesting value play in this race. Jones has been active in the allowance ranks at Mountaineer and Barrios with his aggressive style could produce a big effort from a horse that may be dismissed based on the outside draw. At 4-1, Mr Scatter (POST 7) deserves to be on all trifecta tickets.

Itsallaboutmebaby (POST 6) at 6-1 from Eric Reed with Bailey Weatherly is a significant angle. Reed is a nationally recognized trainer who ships horses to circuits where he identifies winnable spots. When Reed sends a horse to Mountaineer for an allowance race, it deserves attention. Itsallaboutmebaby (POST 6) at 6-1 could be the best value on the entire card.

Longshots

Z Dancer (POST 1) at 5-1 for Juan Carlos Vazquez with Luis Negron gets the rail in a seven-horse allowance route and should be in a ground-saving position throughout. Vazquez has a strong feel for route distances and this one at 5-1 deserves place and show consideration. Defiant Giant (POST 4) at 12-1 for Timothy Shanley with J. Stokes is a route horse that could fill out the trifecta at a price. Tap Em (POST 5) at 20-1 for Tomas Martinez with J C Mera appears outclassed in this allowance field.

Selections

Win: Stomping Moon (POST 3) Place: Itsallaboutmebaby (POST 6) Show: Afraidofthebunny (POST 2)

Betting Strategy: Itsallaboutmebaby (POST 6) at 6-1 is the value play of this race if the Reed angle fires. Exacta: Stomping Moon (POST 3) over Itsallaboutmebaby (POST 6) and Afraidofthebunny (POST 2). Trifecta: Use Stomping Moon (POST 3) on top, spread Itsallaboutmebaby (POST 6), Afraidofthebunny (POST 2), Mr Scatter (POST 7), and Z Dancer (POST 1) in second and third.

RACE 8 — Post (9:55)/8:55/7:55/6:55 — 1210f | D | C | Clm 3200n1y | BUN | Purse $7,000

Pace Analysis

Eleven horses go to the gate in the card finale, a $3,200 claiming sprint at 1210 furlongs for horses that have not won a race in the prior year. This is a full, competitive field at the lowest claiming level on the card and the pace will be crucial. Growth Capital (POST 8) at 3-1 is the public choice from the Juan Pablo Silva barn. Bodyslam (POST 4) at 4-1 from the Scallan barn with Bailey Weatherly is the main speed horse in the field and projects to set or press the early pace. Krusin Rocket (POST 9) at 5-1 from the Crystal Cain barn could stalk and pounce. Southern Sense (POST 10) at 6-1 with Alejandro Gomez is another late runner who could benefit from a hot early pace.

Key Contenders

Growth Capital (POST 8) is trained by Juan Pablo Silva at 3-1 with Luis Negron up. The eight-hole in an eleven-horse sprint is workable, and Silva puts up the solid Negron-Greenidge combination regularly when horses are ready. Growth Capital (POST 8) at 3-1 is the public's top choice and figures to be rating behind the early leaders before making its run.

Krusin Rocket (POST 9) at 5-1 from the Crystal Cain barn with Kevin Gonzalez is a live threat. The Cain barn is having a productive night with entries across the card, and Krusin Rocket (POST 9) appears to be pointed to this spot. Gonzalez has been effective with Cain's horses and the nine-hole in a large field could allow this one to find a comfortable pace-tracking position.

Secondary Choices

Bodyslam (POST 4) at 4-1 from Robert S. Scallan with Bailey Weatherly is likely the key pace setter in this eleven-horse field. Weatherly and Scallan connect regularly at Mountaineer and this one will try to wire the field. In a 1210-furlong sprint, a front-runner who gets a clear lead can be tough to catch. If Bodyslam (POST 4) gets loose, Weatherly will press the advantage.

Southern Sense (POST 10) at 6-1 from Jami C. Poole with Alejandro Gomez is a closer that could benefit from a fast early pace set by Bodyslam (POST 4). Poole trains a capable stable at this level and Gomez always gives horses a chance to run their best race. At 6-1, Southern Sense (POST 10) is the value selection in the finale.

Longshots

Remys Gunsmoke (POST 1) at 10-1 for Gabe Shafer with Y. Yaranga gets the rail in an eleven-horse field, which can be both an advantage and a danger zone in a large sprint field. Joe Phillips (POST 3) at 10-1 for Juan Pablo Silva with N. Arroyo Jr. is interesting as a barn second entry at double-digit odds. Cold Plunge (POST 7) at 12-1 for John T. Brown with B. Whitacre is a moderate longshot. Holy Truth (POST 5) at 15-1 for Crystal Cain with Miguel L. Martinez is the third Cain entry, which signals the barn has considerable firepower in this race. Crafty Conquest (POST 6) at 15-1 for Jessica L. Pizzurro with Luis Alberto Batista is a long-shot play only. Grey Streak (POST 2) at 20-1 for Jabdiel Castillo with Michael Y. Pagan and Abuelo Paps (POST 11) at 20-1 from Devan Ewell Sr. with Monserrate are deep longshots with minimal realistic win probability.

Selections

Win: Growth Capital (POST 8) Place: Krusin Rocket (POST 9) Show: Southern Sense (POST 10)

Betting Strategy: Use Growth Capital (POST 8) and Krusin Rocket (POST 9) in exacta boxes. Trifecta key Growth Capital (POST 8) on top with Krusin Rocket (POST 9), Bodyslam (POST 4), and Southern Sense (POST 10) in second and third. At 6-1, Southern Sense (POST 10) is the best place and show value to close out the card.

JOCKEY NOTES AND INSIGHTS

Bailey Weatherly is riding in exceptional form at this Mountaineer meet and deserves to be on every bettor's radar. Weatherly has mounts in multiple races tonight including Siljim (POST 7) in Race 2, Bodyslam (POST 4) in Race 8, and Emperorofthedark (POST 7) in Race 5. Her ability to rate horses in sprint events and position them perfectly on this track has made her one of the most consistent performers on the circuit. In any race where Weatherly appears, the public's money is well-placed.

Alejandro Gomez is riding and training at this meet. When Gomez has the riding assignment for another barn, he has shown a savvy understanding of pace and positioning. His mounts include How About It (POST 5) in Race 1, Revocata (POST 4) in Race 2, Zaddy (POST 7) in Race 4, No Name Dude (POST 1) in Race 5, and Southern Sense (POST 10) in Race 8. Notably, GOMEZ ALEJANDRO also appears as the trainer of My Angel Does (POST 6) in Race 2, meaning he is both riding and training on the same card. His experience is an asset in the cheaper claiming races.

Y. Yaranga has a full book of mounts tonight spread across multiple races and has demonstrated solid form at this circuit. Yaranga connects well with Jeff Fletcher's horses in particular, and Nun Gimel Hay Po (POST 3) in Race 2 and Hard Astray (POST 9) in Race 4 are live mounts.

Rocco Bowen is the veteran presence in the featured Race 7 aboard Stomping Moon (POST 3). Bowen's route experience at Mountaineer is a meaningful asset in the 1760-furlong allowance, where tactical decisions made early in the race can determine the outcome in the final turn.

Jorge A. Monserrate Jr. has consistent work throughout the card and represents the barn connections of Stanoszek, Bernardini, and Ewell. He typically rides to position and conserves horses for late runs, which is a sound approach on this track.

Ricardo Barrios appears in multiple races and is particularly noteworthy in Race 5 aboard Cash Customer (POST 4) in the quarter-horse-style 440-furlong dash, where his aggressive riding style is a genuine advantage.

TRAINER NOTES AND INSIGHTS

Jay P. Bernardini is the most active trainer on tonight's card with runners in Race 1 (HOW ABOUT IT, POST 5), Race 3 (PRINCESS AZARA, POST 4 and IMPOSTORA, POST 1), Race 4 (TIZ SPEEDY, POST 1), and Race 7 (STOMPING MOON, POST 3). Bernardini's horses consistently arrive fit and competitive. His track percentage at Mountaineer suggests a win rate north of 15 percent over recent meets, making him a trainer whose runners should never be dismissed on the morning line alone. When Bernardini fields an entry as the morning line choice, the respect is warranted.

Crystal Cain has three entries on tonight's card. In Race 4, she saddles High Rolling Dude (POST 3) and Cavendish (POST 8), giving her barn tactical control of the route. In Race 8, Krusin Rocket (POST 9) and Holy Truth (POST 5) both carry her colors. The multi-entry approach suggests Cain has multiple horses pointing to this card, and the betting public should watch the tote action on Cavendish (POST 8) and Krusin Rocket (POST 9) for late money shifts.

J. Michael Baird saddles both Red Cloud (POST 6) and Doom Loop (POST 4) in Race 6's maiden special weight sprint. The Baird operation targets maiden special weight events specifically to develop horses and establish career earnings. The fact that Baird enters two in the same race at this level suggests confidence in both horses and a barn that is very live tonight.

Robert S. Scallan has runners in Race 1 (FINN D'ORO, POST 7), Race 2 (HEAVENLY LADY, POST 5), and Race 8 (BODYSLAM, POST 4). The Scallan barn consistently has horses ready to run at this circuit, particularly in sprint events. Bodyslam (POST 4) in the finale is Scallan's best chance tonight.

Eric Reed dropping Itsallaboutmebaby (POST 6) into the Race 7 allowance at Mountaineer is the trainer angle of the night. Reed is known nationally for placing horses in spots they can win and regularly ships to secondary circuits when he identifies a target race. At 6-1 on the morning line, this horse is worth serious consideration beyond its odds.

Randy Bayley sends out Afraidofthebunny (POST 2) in Race 7 and Bustin Loose (POST 3) in Race 5. The Race 7 entry with Michael Y. Pagan is the more serious of the two and Bayley's route horses at Mountaineer have performed above expectation this spring.

Tina Ramgeet enters the coupled Souper Justified (POST 3) and Semper Anticus (POST 4) in Race 1, which is a familiar strategy for this barn. Ramgeet puts family money in the saddle on one horse while using a stakes-experienced rider on the other. The tactical leverage of having two horses in a sprint cannot be understated.

BEST WAGERING STRATEGIES AND VALUE PLAYS

Tonight's card at Mountaineer Park offers several distinct wagering opportunities. The race most favorable for singles is Race 6, where the Baird barn exacta of Red Cloud (POST 6) over Doom Loop (POST 4) is the standout play of the card. At morning line odds of 2-1 and 3-1 respectively, the exacta could return a fair price and the stablemate dynamic gives the bet a structural foundation.

The value play of the evening is Itsallaboutmebaby (POST 6) in Race 7 at 6-1. Eric Reed's presence at a secondary circuit in an allowance race is a significant signal. At those odds, building a trifecta around Itsallaboutmebaby (POST 6) in second position behind Stomping Moon (POST 3) and above Mr Scatter (POST 7) could produce a triple-digit trifecta return.

For Pick 4 players, the natural sequence to target is Races 5 through 8. Suggested structure:

Race 5 — Use CASH CUSTOMER (POST 4) and WHERE YA AT VINCE (POST 2).

Race 6 — Single RED CLOUD (POST 6).

Race 7 — Use STOMPING MOON (POST 3) and ITSALLABOUTMEBABY (POST 6).

Race 8 — Use GROWTH CAPITAL (POST 8), KRUSIN ROCKET (POST 9), and SOUTHERN SENSE (POST 10).

This gives a 2-1-2-3 ticket structure costing 12 combinations. A modest investment of $24 at the $2 level covers the key sequences.

For Pick 3 players, the Race 6 through Race 8 mini-sequence is the primary target:

Race 6 — Single RED CLOUD (POST 6).

Race 7 — Use STOMPING MOON (POST 3) and ITSALLABOUTMEBABY (POST 6).

Race 8 — Use GROWTH CAPITAL (POST 8), KRUSIN ROCKET (POST 9), and BODYSLAM (POST 4).

This is a 1-2-3 structure, six combinations at $2 each for a $12 base ticket.

In Race 4, the Crystal Cain barn exacta of Cavendish (POST 8) over High Rolling Dude (POST 3) is a legitimate correlated bet. Two horses from the same trainer in a route race give the barn substantial control over pace and positioning. At morning line odds of 2-1 and 5-1, the exacta should return a meaningful price.

The best win bet on the card for pure value is Itsallaboutmebaby (POST 6) in Race 7. The best win bet for security is Red Cloud (POST 6) in Race 6. The best longshot value is Revocata (POST 4) in Race 2 at 8-1 in a field of nine where the pace could collapse in the final furlong.

Monitor late scratch activity and tote board movement prior to post time for each race, particularly in the larger fields of Races 4 and 8 where a scratch or jockey change can dramatically alter the pace scenario and post position dynamics.
