Race Day Overview — Parx Racing, Tuesday, April 21, 2026

Tuesday's ten-race card at Parx Racing in Bensalem, Pennsylvania is a typical mid-week afternoon program anchored by claiming races ranging from the $5,000 level up to the $25,000 bracket. The card opens at 12:40 PM ET and runs through the late-afternoon feature. With ten races spread across distances from seven furlongs to nine furlongs on the main dirt oval, bettors will find plenty of claiming action with a healthy mix of male and female routes and sprints. Kenny Peck of the Daily Racing Form has identified Race 1 as his best bet of the day, making the opener a focal point for early wagering attention.

The card features a blend of older claimers, maiden claimers, and non-winners allowance types across a wide range of claiming prices. Jacinto Solis is among the busier trainers on the card with entries in multiple races, as is Michael V. Pino, Howard R. Brown Jr., and Jamie Ness, all of whom have strong recent Parx numbers. Jockey Yedsit Hazlewood draws multiple mounts and appears to be in solid form, while Abner Adorno and Luis M. Ocasio are also busy on the afternoon.

Weather and Track Conditions — April 21, 2026

Conditions at Parx Racing on Tuesday are expected to be favorable for racing. Forecasts for the Bensalem area call for partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 50s Fahrenheit throughout the card. There is no meaningful precipitation expected, which should allow the main track to remain fast or close to fast all afternoon. If any residual moisture from recent days is present, the surface could be listed as good early and firm up as racing progresses and temperatures rise slightly. Wind out of the northwest at 8 to 12 miles per hour should pose no significant factor for the runners.

The Parx main track is a one-mile oval with tight turns, and it drains reasonably well. Based on conditions, expect the track to be listed fast for Tuesday's card.

Track Bias and Post Position Analysis — Parx Racing

Parx Racing's main track has exhibited a persistent speed-favoring bias in recent meetings, particularly in sprints around two turns. Early leaders and horses with clean trips from inside posts have routinely held on, and closers have struggled unless pace scenarios completely collapse. In sprint races of seven furlongs and under, horses breaking from posts one through four have performed well when they have the ability to press or sit just off a reasonable pace. Outside posts in seven-furlong sprints require more work to find a comfortable position.

In route races of 1 1/8 miles and longer, the bias softens somewhat. Horses that rate just off the pace or have the ability to make a sustained middle-move have performed well in recent route races at Parx. However, pure closers in routes are still vulnerable unless they face a genuine speed duel up front.

For today's card, horses with tactical speed — meaning those capable of pressing or sitting a length or two off the leader — should be prioritized. Horses with pure early speed from inside posts in the sprint races represent natural advantages based on current track tendencies.

RACE 1 — Post (12:40) — 1430f | D | C | Clm 7500b | BUM | Purse $21,000

This seven-furlong dirt sprint for older fillies and mares at the $7,500 claiming level with a starter bonus condition opens the card with a wide-open look on paper, yet several legitimate angles emerge on closer inspection. Nine runners go to the gate, and DRF analyst Kenny Peck has singled out this race as his best bet of the day. The field includes horses from the stable of Howard R. Brown Jr., who sends out two runners, as well as entries from Jacinto Solis and Louis Linder Jr.

Race 1

Pace Analysis

Joyful Joyce (2) figures to be the pace-setter in this spot if she breaks clean, as her form suggests she can establish position early. American Peaches (3) and Seven P R C (8) also possess enough early foot to contest the lead or press from just off the pace. With multiple early speed types in the field, there is a reasonable chance the fractions come up honest or slightly fast, which could set things up for a presser or mild closer. The pace scenario is competitive but not a guaranteed pace duel.

Key Contenders

Joyful Joyce (2), trained by Howard R. Brown Jr. and ridden by Francisco Martinez, is one of the morning line favorites at 3-1 and is the horse most consistent with what Parx bettors have come to expect in this class. Brown is a leading trainer at the meet with a strong win percentage, and Martinez has been riding well. Joyful Joyce (2) fits this spot off recent form and should factor heavily in the outcome.

Seven P R C (8), trained by Louis Linder Jr. and piloted by Pascacio Lopez, is co-favorited at 4-1 on the morning line. Linder operates a stable that knows this level of competition well, and Seven P R C (8) is positioned in an outside draw that should allow Lopez to find a comfortable spot near the pace without getting into traffic trouble early.

Secondary Choices

American Peaches (3), trained by Thomas Iannotti IV and ridden by Andy Hernandez, is another 4-1 shot with enough tactical speed to be a factor. Iannotti conditions horses well for this class range at Parx, and Hernandez is a capable and experienced rider at the circuit. American Peaches (3) in post three is well-placed to stalk the early pace and could have enough left in the lane.

Classic Mystery (7), trained by Jacinto Solis and ridden by Abner Adorno, opens at 5-1 and is worth noting. Solis is among the most active trainers on the card today and clearly has his horses pointed for the right spots. Adorno is sharp right now and should give Classic Mystery (7) an educated trip from post seven.

Longshots

Laughing Lady (4) from the barn of Jose G. Gonzalez-Milian at 6-1 is a logical longer-shot inclusion in exotics. Noel Herman gets the call. Wonderfulvenezuela (1) at 10-1 for trainer Trevor Gallimore and jockey Ajhari Williams has the inside post, and while the odds are long, the inside draw on a track that has favored inside runners is worth minor consideration. Ravenite (5), trained by Bobbi Anne Hawthorne and ridden by Julio Correa at 10-1, is unlikely to be a major factor. Daisy Believes (9), the other Howard R. Brown Jr. entry at 10-1 with Yan Rodriguez, draws the extreme outside post and faces a tough challenge from there. Nouveau Riche (6) at 20-1 for Alexis Romero and Patrick Henry Jr. is the morning line longest shot and can be safely used only in small doses in rolling exotics.

Betting Strategy

With Peck singling this race as his best bet, Joyful Joyce (2) at 3-1 is the logical anchor. Use Joyful Joyce (2) and Seven P R C (8) on top in exactas and wheel them underneath American Peaches (3) and Classic Mystery (7) for horizontal coverage. In the win pool, Joyful Joyce (2) at morning line odds represents solid value as a single.

Selections

Win: Joyful Joyce (2) Place: Seven P R C (8) Show: American Peaches (3)

RACE 2 — Post (1:07) — 1430f | D | C | Clm 7500n3l | BUN | Purse $21,000

Seven furlongs on the main track for horses that have not won three lifetime. The non-winners condition attracts a field of eight that is largely dominated by the morning line, with Wake Surf (5) installed as the heavy 1-1 favorite.

Race 2

Pace Analysis

Wake Surf (5) for trainer Michelle Nevin is likely to be the primary source of early pace, and if she gets uncontested or near-uncontested, the 1-1 price reflects what most expect to be a winning effort. Run My Card (7) and Prairie Dunes (3) also have enough early tactical ability to complicate the trip. Whether the pace scenario collapses into a wire-to-wire win for the favorite or sets up a closer depends on how aggressively connections send Wake Surf (5) from the start.

Key Contenders

Wake Surf (5), trained by Michelle Nevin and ridden by Yedsit Hazlewood, is the clear class of the field on the morning line. Nevin is an active conditioner at Parx and knows how to spot horses for conditions just like this one. Hazlewood, who draws multiple mounts today, has been productive at the meet. At even money, the question is not whether Wake Surf (5) can win but whether the price offers enough value for a serious wager on the nose.

Run My Card (7), trained by Irving Rodriguez and ridden by Pascacio Lopez, opens at 6-1 and is the most likely beneficiary of any pace collapse or setback for the favorite. Rodriguez is a trainer who handles this level competently at Parx, and Lopez will give Run My Card (7) a professional trip from post seven.

Secondary Choices

Prairie Dunes (3), trained by Miguel A. Rodriguez and ridden by Luis M. Ocasio, is on the morning line at 4-1. Rodriguez trains a solid operation at this level, and Ocasio has good knowledge of the Parx main track. Prairie Dunes (3) from post three should find a comfortable trip and could press the pace at an honest price.

Banjo (8), trained by M.L. Catalano Jr. and ridden by Dalila A. Rivera, is listed at 6-1. Catalano is an experienced conditioner whose stock has run well in similar conditions. Banjo (8) from the outside post has something to prove pace-wise but could be a useful include in exactas underneath the favorite.

Mr. Mendelssohn (6), trained by Jose M. Santaella-Calderon and ridden by Silvestre Gonzalez, is priced at 5-1. A steady horse who fits the non-winners condition and draws a reasonable middle post.

Longshots

Lucchesi (4), trained by Jacinto Solis and ridden by Dexter Haddock at 15-1, benefits from Solis having a busy and productive day. Do not completely dismiss. Racket (1) at 15-1 for Ernesto Ochoa and Luis Avila and Scudetto (2) at 15-1 for Jorge Diaz and Luis D. Rivera are both longer shots that appear to face a steep uphill battle against Wake Surf (5) in this spot.

Betting Strategy

At 1-1, Wake Surf (5) is not a strong win bet on price. The stronger play is to use Wake Surf (5) on top in exactas with Run My Card (7), Prairie Dunes (3), and Mr. Mendelssohn (6) underneath. If you are against the favorite, structure Prairie Dunes (3) and Run My Card (7) on top with Wake Surf (5) in the place slot as insurance.

Selections

Win: Wake Surf (5) Place: Prairie Dunes (3) Show: Run My Card (7)

RACE 3 — Post (1:34) — 1760f | D | C | Clm 12500n3l | BUN | Purse $23,000

A one-mile route on the main dirt for non-winners of three lifetime claiming $12,500. Six runners go to the gate, which creates a compact and highly competitive contest. The morning line is topped by Boys Of Summer (4) at 2-1.

Race 3

Pace Analysis

At one mile on Parx's main track, the early fractions over the first half-mile define the race. Donnelly's Hollow (5) and Desert Aire (6) figure to have enough early foot to factor in the early position battle, while Boys Of Summer (4) may be content to stalk. Chase A Dream (3) is expected to be somewhere in the mid-pack. If the pace comes up honest, the horses with tactical speed in the three-to-five range of the field are well-placed.

Key Contenders

Boys Of Summer (4), trained by J. Carlos Guerrero and ridden by Kendry Rivera, heads the morning line at 2-1. Guerrero has targeted this horse for a specific level where he can succeed, and Rivera, who also rides Youbetterbejoking (6) in Race 7, has shown strong form in recent weeks at Parx. Boys Of Summer (4) from post four sets up as a natural stalker and should have every opportunity to go on at the top of the stretch.

Donnelly's Hollow (5), trained by Ernesto Padilla-Preciado and ridden by Jorge A. Vargas Jr., is the 3-1 second choice. Padilla-Preciado runs a solid operation and Vargas is among the more productive riders at the meet. Donnelly's Hollow (5) should have tactical speed to press or lead and, from a one-pace standpoint, is a serious threat to the favorite.

Secondary Choices

Chase A Dream (3), trained by Miguel Penaloza and ridden by Jean Aguilar, is co-listed at 4-1 with Desert Aire (6). Penaloza spots horses well at this level and Aguilar gives Chase A Dream (3) an educated trip from post three. From the inside of mid-pack, Chase A Dream (3) can find a clean rail trip in a six-horse field.

Desert Aire (6), trained by Jacinto Solis and ridden by Joezer Rangel at 4-1, is another Solis representative and deserves serious attention. In a six-horse field, the outside post is less of a disadvantage at the mile distance, and Solis's horses at Parx have consistently run their races. Desert Aire (6) is a legitimate win contender.

Longshots

Sheer Dominance (1) at 10-1 for Robert Mosco and Francisco Martinez is the longest non-outlier in the field and could surface in vertical exotics at a price if pace collapses. Badbadbobby (2) at 12-1 for Michael C. Aro and Abner Adorno faces a tough assignment on the morning line but is worth a small inclusion in wide exacta boxes.

Betting Strategy

With only six horses and a clear top three on the morning line, this race sets up well for exacta and trifecta wagering. Box Boys Of Summer (4) and Donnelly's Hollow (5) in the exacta and add Desert Aire (6) and Chase A Dream (3) in the trifecta. The 2-1 morning line price on Boys Of Summer (4) means the win bet is marginal on value, so focus wagering on vertical exotics.

Selections

Win: Boys Of Summer (4) Place: Donnelly's Hollow (5) Show: Desert Aire (6)

RACE 4 — Post (2:01) — 1430f | D | C | Clm 7500b | BUN | Purse $21,000

Seven furlongs on the main track for older horses at the $7,500 claiming level with a starter bonus. Six runners compete in what appears to be a one-horse race on the morning line, with Rocket Night (2) installed as the 1-1 favorite.

Race 4

Pace Analysis

Rocket Night (2) is likely to establish the pace or press it from post two, and if he dictates terms early, the field may struggle to keep up. Munyhungry (5) and What It Tiz (6) have enough foot to complicate the pace scenario, and if either challenges Rocket Night (2) early, there could be some vulnerabilities late. Jethro Excellence (1) from the inside could attempt to steal the rail early.

Key Contenders

Rocket Night (2), trained by Hugo O. Padilla and ridden by Andy Hernandez, is the dominant morning line choice at 1-1. Padilla spots his horses aggressively and Hernandez gives Rocket Night (2) every opportunity in a field where few appear capable of mounting a serious challenge. The concern at 1-1 is purely value, as this horse appears to be in a race tailor-made for his current form.

Munyhungry (5), trained by Jacinto Solis and ridden by Dexter Haddock at 4-1, is the most logical candidate to upset the favorite. Solis has multiple runners on the card and Haddock is alert to pace scenarios that could benefit a closer. Munyhungry (5) from post five is a natural stalker who could pick up the pieces if Rocket Night (2) is pressed into fast early fractions.

Secondary Choices

What It Tiz (6), trained by Alexander Martinez and ridden by Luis M. Ocasio at 4-1, is another horse who could benefit from a hot pace up front. Ocasio is familiar with the Parx main track and is comfortable sending horses from the back if the setup dictates it. What It Tiz (6) from the outside post may need things to set up perfectly, but the price is fair.

Jethro Excellence (1), trained by Scott A. Lake and ridden by Joezer Rangel at 8-1, draws the coveted inside post. Lake is an experienced trainer at the Delaware-Parx circuit and knows how to place horses in winnable spots. The 8-1 morning line price may exceed actual odds at post time, but in exactas, Jethro Excellence (1) underneath Munyhungry (5) or What It Tiz (6) is worth a small play.

Longshots

Sweet Winner (3) at 10-1 for Daniel Velazquez and Noel Herman and Big Dosser (4) at 10-1 for JoAnn Bertone and Yalexamarie Cintron are both facing tough competition in a race seemingly set up for the 1-1 favorite and are best used only in large trifecta keys.

Betting Strategy

At 1-1, Rocket Night (2) is a minimal win value play. The better approach is to play Munyhungry (5) and What It Tiz (6) on top in an exacta against the favorite or use Rocket Night (2) to win and box the underneath with Munyhungry (5), What It Tiz (6), and Jethro Excellence (1) in a trifecta.

Selections

Win: Rocket Night (2) Place: Munyhungry (5) Show: What It Tiz (6)

RACE 5 — Post (2:28) — 1430f | D | M | Md 10000 | BUN | Purse $19,000

Seven furlongs on the main track for maiden claimers with a $10,000 price tag. Eight horses contest this wide-open affair with The Fridge (1) heading the morning line at 3-1.

Race 5

Pace Analysis

The Fridge (1) and Change Your Name (5) are likely to be involved early, with Coach Rudy (7) and Warheaded (4) also tracking near the pace. In a maiden claimer, pace management is often inconsistent, and the race can become chaotic in the first quarter mile as inexperienced horses jostle for position. The inside post for The Fridge (1) is a natural advantage in this scenario.

Key Contenders

The Fridge (1), trained by Michael V. Pino and ridden by Yedsit Hazlewood, tops the morning line at 3-1 from the coveted inside post. Pino is a productive trainer at Parx and has a strong record placing maiden horses appropriately. The Fridge (1) in post one, on a track that currently favors inside runners, is the natural choice to key exotics around.

Change Your Name (5), trained by Stacy McMullin and ridden by Abner Adorno at 4-1, is a logical threat. McMullin conditions horses to a reasonable standard at this level and Adorno on a maiden claimer from post five is a capable combination. Change Your Name (5) at 4-1 represents fair morning line value.

Secondary Choices

Coach Rudy (7), trained by Angel Castillo Jr. and ridden by A. Castillo at 4-1, draws the same odds as Change Your Name (5) and is a potential pace-pressing type. The trainer-jockey connection here has a family chemistry that can translate to sharp preparation. Coach Rudy (7) from post seven needs a clean break to find a comfortable spot.

Warheaded (4), trained by Jacinto Solis and ridden by Joezer Rangel at 5-1, is another Solis entry and benefits from trainer's overall day-long presence at the meet. Rangel is active today and handles Solis horses with familiarity. Warheaded (4) at 5-1 in post four is a natural include in exacta and trifecta tickets.

Matzoball Muhammet (2), trained by Felix L. Flores-Coba and ridden by Mychel J. Sanchez at 5-1, is worth noting in a spot where any of the top handful could win. Sanchez is one of the most accomplished jockeys on the card today and his presence adds confidence to the pairing.

Longshots

Captain Keno (6) at 8-1 for Louis Linder Jr. and Melvis Gonzalez, Iron Sword (3) at 12-1 for Ruperto A. Perez and Dexter Haddock, and Chilling Time (8) at 12-1 for Herold O. Whylie and Adam Bowman round out the field. In a maiden claimer this open, any of these horses can pop at a big price, and Captain Keno (6) at 8-1 with Linder's solid barn may offer the most realistic upset potential among the three.

Betting Strategy

The Fridge (1) at 3-1 on the morning line is a legitimate win bet given the inside post and the Pino barn's record in maiden claimers. Use The Fridge (1) as the primary key in exactas and trifectas, covering it with Change Your Name (5), Warheaded (4), Coach Rudy (7), and Matzoball Muhammet (2).

Selections

Win: The Fridge (1) Place: Change Your Name (5) Show: Warheaded (4)

RACE 6 — Post (2:55) — 1430f | D | C | Clm 5000n2y | BUN | Purse $18,000

Seven furlongs on the main track for horses that have not won two races in the past year at the $5,000 claiming level. Seven runners go with Shipman (7) as the heavy 2-1 favorite for trainer Jamie Ness.

Race 6

Pace Analysis

Cobble Road (3) and Ducale (6) figure to contest the early pace, while Shipman (7) likely prefers to come from somewhere off the pace under Yedsit Hazlewood. Nicole's King (1) and Magicnthemoonlight (2) will likely settle behind the early movers. If Cobble Road (3) and Ducale (6) engage in a legitimate pace duel, it could set the table perfectly for Shipman (7) to close late.

Key Contenders

Shipman (7), trained by Jamie Ness and ridden by Yedsit Hazlewood, is the 2-1 favorite and is the most formidable entry in the field on paper. Ness has been one of the stronger trainers at Parx in recent months, with a win rate that justifies heavy support of his top entrants. Hazlewood carries multiple mounts today and is in productive form. From the outside post, Shipman (7) will have clean air throughout and should be able to time a winning move to the wire.

Cobble Road (3), trained by Irving Rodriguez and ridden by Pascacio Lopez at 4-1, is the most logical pace-presser and could prove difficult to catch if the pace scenario breaks right. Rodriguez is an active Parx conditioner and Lopez gives Cobble Road (3) every chance from post three.

Secondary Choices

Ducale (6), trained by Jorge Diaz and ridden by Francisco Martinez at 4-1, is another horse with tactical speed and a capable jockey. Diaz is a regular Parx trainer with this level of claimer and Martinez is among the most active riders on the card today. Ducale (6) could press or stalk and would be a serious contender at 4-1 if Shipman (7) encounters any trouble.

Nicole's King (1), trained by Miguel A. Rodriguez and ridden by Dexter Haddock at 5-1, draws the rail and is a natural pace-presser if he breaks alertly. In the current track environment favoring inside running, Nicole's King (1) at 5-1 is worth a spot play.

Magicnthemoonlight (2), trained by Ruperto A. Perez and ridden by Jean Aguilar at 5-1, is another horse with inside post advantage in post two. Aguilar handles Perez horses effectively and Magicnthemoonlight (2) fits the non-winners condition well.

Longshots

Jayjaydee (4) at 12-1 for Carlos E. Caban and Jorge A. Vargas Jr. is a long shot with limited upside in win wagering but can be added to wide trifecta tickets. Imaginized (5) at 15-1 for Howard R. Brown Jr. and Yan Rodriguez is too long in the morning line to merit serious win support, though Brown occasionally fires with longshots.

Betting Strategy

Shipman (7) at 2-1 is the correct win bet here given the Ness barn's consistent record. Use Shipman (7) on top in exactas with Cobble Road (3), Ducale (6), and Nicole's King (1) underneath. Trifecta keys with Shipman (7) on top and the three secondary horses filling in around it are the primary vertical play.

Selections

Win: Shipman (7) Place: Cobble Road (3) Show: Ducale (6)

RACE 7 — Post (3:22) — 1830f | D | C | Clm 7500n1y | BUN | Purse $20,000

Nine furlongs on the main dirt for horses who have not won in the past year claiming $7,500. Eight runners go, and Vanzzy (7) for trainer Michael V. Pino is the morning line favorite at 3-1.

Race 7

Pace Analysis

At nine furlongs, the pace scenario is critical. Always Gambling (3) and Warrior's Vendetta (4) figure to be involved early, while Vanzzy (7) and Check My Six (5) likely prefer to settle and make a move approaching the far turn. Rerally (1) from the inside could attempt to steal the rail early if the pace is soft. The longer the race, the more tactical speed matters at Parx, and horses who can position themselves in the first four in the opening half-mile have won this type of spot consistently.

Key Contenders

Vanzzy (7), trained by Michael V. Pino and ridden by Luis M. Ocasio at 3-1, heads the morning line in one of two Pino entries in this race. Pino has two horses in this event, also running Warrior's Vendetta (4) with Abner Adorno. Vanzzy (7) from post seven with Ocasio in the irons is the natural choice to stalk the pace and run past tired horses in the long Parx stretch.

Check My Six (5), trained by Jamie Ness and ridden by Yedsit Hazlewood at 5-1, is one of the more interesting angles in this race. Ness sends out another well-meant representative and Hazlewood, who has drawn multiple mounts today, continues to show strong form at the meet. Check My Six (5) at 5-1 could represent real morning line value.

Secondary Choices

Warrior's Vendetta (4), the second Pino entry and ridden by Abner Adorno at 4-1, is the slight morning line second choice behind Vanzzy (7). The Pino barn clearly has confidence in both runners, and Adorno aboard Warrior's Vendetta (4) is a sharp combination. With two Pino horses in the race, one of them is likely to be coupled in the wagering if coupling rules apply, though at most tracks individual horses in the same race are wagered on separately regardless of common ownership.

Youbetterbejoking (6), trained by Elliott Soto-Martinez and ridden by Kendry Rivera at 6-1, is a horse that fits this non-winners condition and comes at an attractive price. Rivera also rides Boys Of Summer (4) in Race 3 and has been in good form.

Longshots

Rerally (1) at 8-1 for Miguel Penaloza and Dexter Haddock has the inside post advantage and the pace-pressing style that can benefit from a soft early pace. Union Lights (2) at 10-1 for Eli Betancourt Jr. and Silvestre Gonzalez, Always Gambling (3) at 6-1 for Harold Wyner and Adam Bowman, and Amedeus Music (8) at 6-1 for Ronald Abrams and Pascacio Lopez all have fair claims in this field. Amedeus Music (8) from the outside post and Always Gambling (3) as a pace-type at 6-1 both deserve mention in wide exotics.

Betting Strategy

Vanzzy (7) and Check My Six (5) form the logical exacta pairing at combined morning line prices that offer value. Use Vanzzy (7) and Warrior's Vendetta (4) as the primary key horses in the trifecta, adding Check My Six (5) and Youbetterbejoking (6) for bottom-end coverage. Singling Vanzzy (7) or Check My Six (5) in the Pick 5 is a consideration depending on ticket construction.

Selections

Win: Vanzzy (7) Place: Check My Six (5) Show: Warrior's Vendetta (4)

RACE 8 — Post (3:49) — 1830f | D | C | Clm 16000 | BUN | Purse $28,000

Nine furlongs on the main dirt at the $16,000 claiming level for older horses. Seven runners go with Group Ticket (6) as the morning line favorite at 2-1 for trainer Jamie Ness.

Race 8

Pace Analysis

Hey Porter (1) and Bestsugardaddyever (2) figure to be prominent early, while Group Ticket (6) and Best Bet (4) are more likely to settle just off the early pace. Melt With You (3) and Mo Rewards (5) will likely track further back. If the early fractions come up honest over nine furlongs, Group Ticket (6) and Best Bet (4) are positioned perfectly to make the decisive late run.

Key Contenders

Group Ticket (6), trained by Jamie Ness and ridden by Yedsit Hazlewood at 2-1, is the clear morning line favorite and represents the Ness barn's third entry on the card today. Ness is in fine form at Parx and Hazlewood continues to deliver consistently. Group Ticket (6) at 2-1 is the right horse to anchor the race around, though the price demands exotic wagering rather than a straight win bet for value purposes.

Best Bet (4), trained by Michelle Nevin and ridden by Eric Cancel at 3-1, is the morning line second choice and a legitimate alternative to the favorite. Cancel is an accomplished jockey with strong Parx numbers, and Nevin, who also conditions Wake Surf (5) in Race 2, has a productive barn operation. Best Bet (4) from post four should find a clean trip and have every opportunity to challenge Group Ticket (6) in the stretch.

Secondary Choices

Bestsugardaddyever (2), trained by Esteban Padilla and ridden by K. Carmouche at 4-1, draws the second post with a capable jockey. Carmouche is a quality rider whose presence commands attention, and Bestsugardaddyever (2) with early pace ability could wire the field or prove difficult to catch from the front.

Melt With You (3), trained by Ronald Abrams and ridden by Pascacio Lopez at 5-1, is a stalker type at a fair price. Hey Porter (1) at 5-1 for Josue Arce and Mychel J. Sanchez is another pace-presser who could hang on for a minor share at a reasonable price if the race sets up correctly.

Longshots

Mo Rewards (5) at 12-1 for Jamie Ness and Melvis Gonzalez is the second Ness entry and a notable barn companion to the favorite. Ness clearly believes enough in Mo Rewards (5) to start it in the same race as the 2-1 shot, which suggests it has a live chance at a bigger price. Tricolour (7) at 12-1 for Jorge Diaz and Silvestre Gonzalez rounds out the field and is the longest-priced runner.

Betting Strategy

Group Ticket (6) and Best Bet (4) form the natural exacta combination in this race. Use those two on top of each other in a two-horse exacta box and add Bestsugardaddyever (2) underneath for trifecta coverage. The most dangerous overlay play is Mo Rewards (5) at 12-1, representing a significant underlay barn companion to the morning line favorite.

Selections

Win: Group Ticket (6) Place: Best Bet (4) Show: Bestsugardaddyever (2)

RACE 9 — Post (4:16) — 1430f | D | C | Clm 25000 | BUM | Purse $32,000

The $25,000 claiming sprint for older fillies and mares at seven furlongs represents the top claiming event of the afternoon. Seven runners go with Our Uptown Girl (1) as the morning line favorite at 3-1 for trainer Michael M. Moore.

Race 9

Pace Analysis

Our Uptown Girl (1) and Edge Of Town (2) figure to press the pace or be close to it early. Cocktail Humor (3) and Shetalkstomuch (4) have the ability to track just off the pace, while Snappy Ride (6) for Jamie Ness may come from slightly further off. The inside post for Our Uptown Girl (1) on a track with an inside bias is a strong advantage in a seven-furlong sprint for this class of mare.

Key Contenders

Our Uptown Girl (1), trained by Michael M. Moore and ridden by Eliseo Ruiz at 3-1, is the top of the morning line and holds the coveted inside post. Moore conditions horses that run consistently at their class level, and Our Uptown Girl (1) at the $25,000 level appears well-placed. The inside post on a track favoring inside running makes this the natural key horse.

Cocktail Humor (3), trained by Philip T. Aristone and ridden by Mychel J. Sanchez at 4-1, is a serious contender from post three. Aristone is a veteran Parx trainer with a long record of placing horses in appropriate spots, and Sanchez is one of the most capable jockeys on today's card. Cocktail Humor (3) should be a heavy factor in the wagering.

Secondary Choices

Shetalkstomuch (4), trained by Josue Arce and ridden by Abner Adorno at 4-1, is co-listed with Cocktail Humor (3) on the morning line and deserves serious consideration. Arce also trains Hey Porter (1) in Race 8, and Adorno appears multiple times today. Shetalkstomuch (4) from post four is well-drawn and could produce a sharp effort.

Edge Of Town (2), trained by Bobbi Anne Hawthorne and ridden by Silvestre Gonzalez at 5-1, is the second post horse and another mare with tactical speed. Hawthorne also trains Ravenite (5) in Race 1 and is active at the meet. Edge Of Town (2) from post two could press Our Uptown Girl (1) into a pace duel, which would benefit the closers.

Snappy Ride (6), trained by Jamie Ness and ridden by Yedsit Hazlewood at 5-1, is another Ness representative and a horse worth monitoring. If Ness has Snappy Ride (6) ready to fire in this better claiming event, the combination with Hazlewood — who is having an active day — represents a live outside threat.

Longshots

Jump A Fox (5) at 10-1 for Trevor Gallimore and A. Castillo draws post five and is unlikely to threaten the top choices. Mended We Stand (7) at 12-1 for Kimberly Christman and Dexter Haddock rounds out the field and faces a tough assignment from the outside post against better-credentialed fillies and mares.

Betting Strategy

Our Uptown Girl (1) is the key horse from the inside post in a race that suits her class. Exacta box Our Uptown Girl (1) and Cocktail Humor (3) and add Shetalkstomuch (4) and Snappy Ride (6) in trifecta positions. Snappy Ride (6) at 5-1 for the Ness barn is a value-oriented place and show bet in a field of seven.

Selections

Win: Our Uptown Girl (1) Place: Cocktail Humor (3) Show: Shetalkstomuch (4)

RACE 10 — Post (4:43) — 1430f | D | C | Clm 5000n2y | BUN | Purse $18,000

The closing race of the day is seven furlongs on the main track for horses who have not won two races in the past year at the $5,000 claiming level. Eight runners go with Tuff Constitution (3) as the heavy 2-1 morning line favorite for trainer Jamie Ness.

Race 10

Pace Analysis

Tuff Constitution (3) and Lord Winsalot (7) figure to be involved early or tracking near the pace, while First Money (4) and Big Brown Shoes (6) will likely sit off the leaders. In a seven-furlong sprint for non-winners of two races at the $5,000 level, the pace is often honest enough for late runners to have a chance, but the Parx bias toward early speed makes it important that pace-pressers hold their form into the stretch.

Key Contenders

Tuff Constitution (3), trained by Jamie Ness and ridden by Yedsit Hazlewood at 2-1, is the morning line favorite and the final Ness runner of what has been a productive afternoon for the barn. Hazlewood appears throughout the card and finishes the day aboard the favorite. Tuff Constitution (3) fits this condition and is the natural key horse for the closer.

Lord Winsalot (7), trained by Michael V. Pino and ridden by Mychel J. Sanchez at 4-1, is another horse worth serious consideration. Pino also fields horses in Races 5 and 7, and Lord Winsalot (7) at 4-1 with Sanchez is a combination that demands attention. Sanchez is comfortable on pace types and stalkers alike at Parx.

Secondary Choices

First Money (4), trained by Jaime Bravo-Estrada and ridden by Jean Aguilar at 5-1, is a fair price for a horse who fits the non-winners condition. Aguilar is active on the card today and First Money (4) from post four has a reasonable inside draw.

Big Brown Shoes (6), trained by Jorge Diaz and ridden by Luis D. Rivera at 6-1, is another Diaz entry on the card. Diaz has had multiple entrants today and Big Brown Shoes (6) at 6-1 is a fair-priced stalker in a field where the top two morning line prices are at 2-1 and 4-1.

Power Agenda (1), trained by Alfredo Velazquez and ridden by Dalila A. Rivera at 6-1, draws the inside post with co-equal odds to Big Brown Shoes (6). The inside post on a track with a current bias is a real advantage, and Power Agenda (1) at 6-1 with the rail could be a value angle if this horse has any tactical speed.

Seven Anniversary (5), trained by Miguel A. Rodriguez and ridden by Yan Rodriguez at 6-1, is another 6-1 morning line horse in a race with several runners at the same price. Rodriguez is an active trainer at the meet and Seven Anniversary (5) could emerge at a price in exactas.

Longshots

Sir Cupid (2) at 20-1 for Abdul Williams and A. Castillo is the longest price on the board and is unlikely to be a serious factor. Carbonite (8) at 12-1 for E. Tzortzakis and Joezer Rangel rounds out the field and is best reserved for large trifecta tickets.

Betting Strategy

Tuff Constitution (3) at 2-1 is the logical single to close out the card, particularly given the Ness barn's productive day. Use Tuff Constitution (3) on top of exactas with Lord Winsalot (7), First Money (4), and Power Agenda (1) underneath. A trifecta keying Tuff Constitution (3) with the four legitimate secondary choices provides strong coverage for the final race of the day.

Selections

Win: Tuff Constitution (3) Place: Lord Winsalot (7) Show: First Money (4)

Jockey Notes and Insights

Yedsit Hazlewood is the standout jockey story on this card. Hazlewood draws mounts in Races 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 — an extraordinarily busy afternoon that speaks to the confidence trainers have placed in the rider. Most notably, Hazlewood rides for Jamie Ness in Races 6, 8, and 10 and for Michael V. Pino in Race 5. When a leading barn books the same rider across multiple races in a single card, it signals strong confidence in that rider's current form and judgment. Hazlewood is the rider to follow all afternoon.

Abner Adorno is another high-volume rider today, appearing in Races 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 9. Adorno's booking across multiple trainers including Jacinto Solis and Jose Arce suggests he is maintaining solid standings at the Parx meet. His mount in Race 9 aboard Shetalkstomuch (4) for the Arce barn is particularly notable.

Francisco Martinez rides in Races 1, 2, 5, and 6, with his most significant mount being Joyful Joyce (2) in Race 1 — the race identified as the best bet of the day. Martinez has been a consistent performer at the Parx circuit for years.

Mychel J. Sanchez, a veteran rider who has competed at stakes levels across the Northeast, appears in Races 1, 5, 8, 9, and 10. His mount aboard Cocktail Humor (3) in the featured Race 9 claiming sprint for mares is a quality assignment from the Aristone barn.

Pascacio Lopez appears in Races 1, 2, 4, 7, and 8. His rides for Irving Rodriguez throughout the card — particularly Cobble Road (3) in Race 6 and Run My Card (7) in Race 2 — reflect a solid working relationship between rider and trainer.

Dexter Haddock is active across Races 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9. Haddock's mount aboard Munyhungry (5) in Race 4 for the Solis barn is among his most interesting opportunities of the day.

Trainer Notes and Insights

Jamie Ness is the most influential trainer on this card, with runners in Races 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Ness's record at Parx in recent months reflects a barn operating at a high level. Shipman (7) in Race 6 and Group Ticket (6) in Race 8 are his two favorites on the afternoon, and both deserve to be respected as win bets on form alone. Tuff Constitution (3) closes the card as another Ness favorite. Check My Six (5) in Race 7 at 5-1 and Snappy Ride (6) in Race 9 at 5-1 are his longer-priced entries and both may offer morning line overlay value at post time.

Michael V. Pino saddles runners in Races 5, 7, and 10. Pino runs The Fridge (1) as the morning line favorite in Race 5 and holds two horses in Race 7 — Vanzzy (7) and Warrior's Vendetta (4) — which is an unusual and noteworthy double entry. Pino's overall record at Parx for this time of year reflects a trainer that spots horses well and does not enter horses without live chances.

Howard R. Brown Jr. runs two horses in Race 1 — Joyful Joyce (2) and Daisy Believes (9) — with Joyful Joyce (2) as the clear stable preference in the wagering. Brown's win rate at the meet has been solid, and when he sends two horses to the same race with one at 3-1 and the other at 10-1, the 3-1 shot deserves to be considered the stable's main hope.

Jacinto Solis is the trainer with the broadest presence on the card, saddling horses in Races 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7. The barn's horses at Classic Mystery (7) in Race 1, Lucchesi (4) in Race 2, Desert Aire (6) in Race 3, Munyhungry (5) in Race 4, Warheaded (4) in Race 5, and Vanzzy (7) in Race 7 all merit consideration. While not every Solis horse will fire, the sheer volume and the trainer's knowledge of the Parx circuit suggests some of these runners will surface.

Michelle Nevin enters Wake Surf (5) in Race 2 and Best Bet (4) in Race 8. Nevin's two horses represent contrasting market positions — Wake Surf (5) as a heavy 1-1 favorite and Best Bet (4) as a 3-1 second choice — and both appear in good spots.

Philip T. Aristone, a longtime Parx and mid-Atlantic circuit trainer, enters Cocktail Humor (3) in the featured Race 9 at 4-1. Aristone's experience with this class of filly and mare in claiming sprints is extensive, and his horse should be respected at a fair morning line price.

Best Wagering Strategies and Value Plays

The single best win bet of the day belongs to Joyful Joyce (2) in Race 1 at 3-1, consistent with the assessment from DRF expert Kenny Peck. Howard R. Brown Jr. pointing his stable preference in an appropriate claiming spot with a capable jockey is a combination that warrants full support at that morning line price.

The Pick 5 structure beginning in Race 6 and running through Race 10 is the most compelling exotic sequence on the card. Consider anchoring Shipman (7) in Race 6 as a single, using Vanzzy (7) and Check My Six (5) in Race 7, Group Ticket (6) and Best Bet (4) in Race 8, Our Uptown Girl (1) and Cocktail Humor (3) in Race 9, and Tuff Constitution (3) as a single to close the sequence. A ticket structured as 1x2x2x2x1 covers 8 combinations and can be played at a $0.50 base for $4.00 per ticket, or doubled up to $8.00 for a full-dollar base.

Value overlays to watch at post time include Check My Six (5) in Race 7 — if the morning line 5-1 drifts toward 6-1 or above with the two Pino horses drawing heavier action, Ness's runner becomes a prime overlay. Snappy Ride (6) in Race 9 at 5-1 for the Ness barn is another horse that could be underlaid by public sentiment toward the 3-1 favorite Our Uptown Girl (1), making Snappy Ride (6) useful in place and show wagering or as a secondary exacta partner.

The Race 9 exacta box between Our Uptown Girl (1) and Cocktail Humor (3) at morning line prices of 3-1 and 4-1 respectively is a conservative but solid play, likely to return $15 to $22 per dollar invested depending on final odds.

For bettors looking for a low-cost early Pick 4, the sequence from Race 1 through Race 4 offers a solid structure. Single Joyful Joyce (2) in Race 1, use Wake Surf (5) alone or with a backup in Race 2, take Boys Of Summer (4) and Donnelly's Hollow (5) in Race 3, and land on Rocket Night (2) as a single in Race 4. A ticket structured as 1x1x2x1 costs just two combinations at any base price and could return substantial value if the trifecta legs hit.

The morning line favorite at even money or lower in Races 2 and 4 — Wake Surf (5) and Rocket Night (2) — are both best used as exotic keys rather than straight win bets given the marginal return on investment. Any ticket that uses those horses as singles while playing at slightly higher prices around them in the other legs will generate the best potential returns on the early sequence.
