Race Day Overview — Parx Racing, July 13, 2026

Parx Racing presents a nine-race Monday card built entirely on the dirt, which is standard operating procedure for the Bensalem oval following the news that the turf course renovation has been pushed back to spring 2027. The Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association confirmed the delay earlier this month, meaning every race on today's card will be contested on the main track. Horseplayers should factor the all-dirt format into their handicapping, particularly for horses whose recent form includes turf attempts or horses whose connections may be pointing toward surface switches.

Today's card is a workmanlike mid-summer Monday offering, ranging from maiden $10,000 claimers at the bottom of the ladder up to open $25,000 claimers at the top. Purse levels reflect the claiming landscape of a mid-Atlantic minor circuit summer Monday, with the richest events topping out at $28,000. The card leans heavily toward male horses, with several “BUN” (no mares) and “BUM” (mares only) designations splitting the fields. Distances range from the six-furlong sprint in races two, three, and six to the longer routes at 1 1/16 miles in races one, five, seven, and eight.

Scott Lake continues to be among the most active trainers on the grounds. Jamie Ness, who saddles horses in races five through eight, also merits close attention. Kelly Breen, though based primarily at Monmouth, has runners entered today and his Parx shipper angles are always worth tracking.

Weather and Track Conditions — July 13, 2026

The Philadelphia-area forecast for July 13 calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures reaching the low-to-mid 90s Fahrenheit by early afternoon post time. Humidity will be elevated, as is typical for a mid-July Sunday in the Delaware Valley. No rain is expected during the racing card, and the track should be rated fast for the entire afternoon.

The main track at Parx is a one-mile oval with a Tapeta-style cushion surface that drains well and maintains a consistent rating even in humid summer conditions. With no precipitation expected and no recent rain in the immediate area during the past 48 hours, bettors can expect a legitimate fast track all card. Speed horses and pace-pressers on this surface tend to hold up well when the track is dry and the footing is firm.

Track Bias and Post Position Analysis

Parx Racing's main dirt track has historically shown a lean toward horses that can establish position early, particularly in sprint distances. The one-turn mile and sprint distances favor horses that break alertly from the gate and can get to the rail or establish a stalking position by the first turn. In longer routes run around two turns, inside post positions have a slight statistical edge at Parx due to the relatively tight turns of the one-mile oval.

In sprint races at Parx, the one-turn six-furlong layout means horses breaking from posts one through four have a modest positional advantage, particularly on days when the track is fast and the inside path is not sealed over. Today's fast track should keep the inside path honest. Expect front-runners and pace-pressers from inside posts to receive slightly favorable treatment.

In route races run at 1 1/16 miles and beyond, inside posts have shown a meaningful edge historically. Horses breaking from posts one through three get the cleanest trip around the first turn and generally save ground throughout. Horses forced to check or steady near the first turn on the tight Parx oval can find themselves hopelessly out of the race. Bettors should downgrade wide-drawing, front-running types in today's two-turn routes if they face speed from the rail.

RACE 1 — Post (12:40) — 1870f | D | C | Clm 12500b | BUN | Purse $23,000

Pace Analysis

This nine-furlong claiming route for non-winners of two races at $12,500 should produce a moderate early pace. The field includes several one-run types and horses with limited early speed, suggesting the front end may not be pressured aggressively. Housebuster Dude (POST 5) and No Mor Stones (POST 1) both project as early movers who could set the tempo. If either one establishes a comfortable lead, expect the race to be won on the front end or by a horse tracking in second or third through moderate fractions.

Key Contenders

Smallchangegeep (POST 8) draws the morning line favoritism at 2-1 and arrives for trainer James Ryerson, who is an underrated conditioner at this level. The horse has the kind of class and recent form that fits this claiming level well. Ruben Silvera rides and has been a reliable and improving presence in the Parx jockey colony. SMALLCHANGEGEEP likely has enough tactical speed to track the pace and pounce late in a nine-furlong route where stamina counts.

It's Authentic (POST 2) at 4-1 is trained by Esteban Padilla, who keeps a tight barn with horses that typically run their races. Jorge Vargas Jr. gets the call, and Vargas is a solid journeyman at Parx who knows how to save ground around the tight turns. The inside draw for It's Authentic (POST 2) is a genuine asset in a two-turn route.

Secondary Choices

No Mor Stones (POST 1) at 5-1 for Jacinto Solis is a horse worth watching early. Solis handles multiple horses today and the rail draw sets up perfectly for a horse with early speed in a two-turn route. Joezer Rangel rides and has been serviceable on the Parx grounds this meet. If No Mor Stones (POST 1) can establish position without being challenged too aggressively, the rail trip could prove decisive.

Housebuster Dude (POST 5) at 6-1 for Scott Lake and jockey Abner Adorno is another pace factor. Lake is one of the bushiest trainers in the Mid-Atlantic and his horses nearly always run honest figures, even in spots where they are outclassed. Housebuster Dude (POST 5) from post five in a two-turn route will need to work to find position early, but Lake's horses are typically gate-ready.

Longshots

Spherification (POST 3) at 6-1 for Philip Aristone is a trainer who consistently produces winners at the Parx claiming level. Yan Rodriguez rides and is one of the busiest and most reliable riders on the circuit. If Spherification (POST 3) has the fitness to compete today, the Aristone-Rodriguez combination is not to be dismissed.

David's Kitten (POST 4) at 6-1 for Elliott Soto-Martinez and Francisco Martinez is a horse that the morning line prices fairly. The mid-pack draw is workable in a route race but the question is whether the horse has the class to compete at $12,500 today.

Winning Song (POST 6) at 6-1 is Jacinto Solis's second entry today, ridden by Dexter Haddock. Two horses from the same trainer in a claiming race always raises the question of which horse the barn truly prefers. Given that No Mor Stones (POST 1) has the superior post position in a two-turn route, Winning Song (POST 6) may be the stable's backup.

Tiz The Coast (POST 7) at 12-1 for Jose Gonzalez-Milian and jockey V. Carrero is the longest price in the field on the morning line and appears to be a horse the handicappers have identified as having minimal chance based on current form.

Selections

Win: Smallchangegeep (POST 8) Place: It's Authentic (POST 2) Show: No Mor Stones (POST 1)

Betting Strategy: Single Smallchangegeep (POST 8) on top of exactas with It's Authentic (POST 2) and No Mor Stones (POST 1). The 2-1 morning line is fair given the class edge, and the horse figures to improve around two turns on a fast track. Use No Mor Stones (POST 1) underneath as a place saver given the favorable post.

RACE 2 — Post (1:07) — 1320f | D | CO | OClm 16000 | BUM | Purse $26,000

Pace Analysis

This open six-furlong claimer for fillies and mares at $16,000 should produce a competitive early pace. Allenhurst (POST 7) is the 2-1 morning line choice and Formaggio (POST 6) at 3-1 shapes up as the key pace factor on paper. The two favorites could set up a race where a presser or stalker gets the right trip to close. Sandy Girl (POST 3) and Panama Limited (POST 1) both have sprint profiles that suggest early engagement.

Key Contenders

Allenhurst (POST 7) at 2-1 is trained by Angel Castillo Jr. and is ridden by A. Castillo, which suggests a family connection to the horse or at minimum a barn-trusted rider. The 7-post in a one-turn six-furlong sprint is workable, and at $16,000 for open mares, if this horse has the class edge, the outside draw becomes a secondary concern. The morning line support indicates handicappers see this mare as clearly the best.

Formaggio (POST 6) at 3-1 for Harold Wyner and Adam Bowman is a horse that deserves close inspection. Wyner is a patient conditioner who picks his spots carefully, and Bowman is one of the top riders on the Parx circuit with a strong affinity for sprint races. Formaggio (POST 6) from post six in a six-furlong sprint should be tracking the pace comfortably.

Secondary Choices

Take Charge Boo (POST 4) at 4-1 for Michelle Castillo and F. Pennington is positioned right in the meat of the morning line. The four-hole in a six-furlong sprint for mares is a solid draw, and if Take Charge Boo (POST 4) has recent sharp form, this could be a sneaky value play in exactas. Pennington has been a steady performer in the Parx jockey colony.

Panama Limited (POST 1) at 5-1 for Scott Lake and Melvis Gonzalez has the prime rail draw in a six-furlong sprint. Lake's horses are nearly always fit and ready to run, and the rail in a one-turn sprint at Parx is a genuine advantage. If Panama Limited (POST 1) can break alertly and press from inside, this mare could steal the race on the lead.

Longshots

Sandy Girl (POST 3) at 6-1 for Trevor Gallimore and Kleiner Mejias is a price that could represent value if the pace collapses in front of her. Gallimore is a quiet trainer whose horses can fire fresh at reasonable odds.

Kashmir Witch (POST 5) at 6-1 for J. Guadalupe Guerrero and Dexter Haddock is a horse that deserves a mention. Haddock is a capable rider and the middle post works fine in a sprint, but the 6-1 morning line suggests handicappers do not see a clear edge here.

Broad Strokes (POST 2) at 10-1 for Stephen Hamilton and Yan Rodriguez is the longest price in the field. Hamilton is not a frequent winner, and the double-digit morning line suggests this mare is here to complete the field more than threaten for the win.

Selections

Win: Allenhurst (POST 7) Place: Formaggio (POST 6) Show: Panama Limited (POST 1)

Betting Strategy: Box Allenhurst (POST 7) and Formaggio (POST 6) in the exacta and add Panama Limited (POST 1) underneath in a trifecta wheel. The Lake rail draw angle is genuine value at 5-1.

RACE 3 — Post (1:34) — 1210f | D | M | Md 10000 | BUN | Purse $19,000

Pace Analysis

This six-and-a-half furlong maiden claimer for $10,000 — one of the most competitive maiden claiming levels at Parx — should see genuine pace from Matzoball Muhammet (POST 3), who projects as an early type that will try to establish position. Notamistake (POST 4) at 2-1 is likely to press early as well. The pace could get honest quickly in this shorter maiden event, setting up a possible closer, though at this level the quality of closers is inconsistent.

Key Contenders

Notamistake (POST 4) at 2-1 for Kathlee Crook-DeMasi and Bryan Torres figures as the morning line choice for good reason. Crook-DeMasi is a reliable trainer at the Parx maiden claiming level and Torres has been a capable rider in this colony. The four-hole in a six-and-a-half furlong sprint is a perfectly workable draw. Handicappers have identified this horse as the class of the maiden $10,000 field.

Matzoball Muhammet (POST 3) at 3-1 for Tony Perez Flores and Francisco Martinez is the second choice and likely the biggest pace threat. Martinez is a competent rider who can get horses out of the gate efficiently. If Matzoball Muhammet (POST 3) can establish an uncontested lead, this could become very difficult to catch in a six-and-a-half furlong sprint.

Secondary Choices

Firstflashofmoon (POST 5) at 4-1 for Miguel Penaloza and Jean Aguilar is a horse that could represent value in the exotics. Penaloza has shown a willingness to develop maiden claimers patiently, and Aguilar is a capable journeyman who can get a horse into a good stalking position. At 4-1, Firstflashofmoon (POST 5) is priced as a live longshot in this modest field.

Major Weigelia (POST 1) at 5-1 for Steven Krebs and Yan Rodriguez deserves attention from the rail. In a six-and-a-half furlong sprint, breaking from post one gives this horse every opportunity to find a comfortable stalking spot without burning unnecessary energy. Rodriguez is in excellent form and is one of the most active riders at Parx this summer.

Longshots

Warheaded (POST 2) at 6-1 for Jacinto Solis and Joezer Rangel is a horse that has appeal in the exotics at double-digit prices if the 6-1 morning line holds up in the pools. Solis trains solid lower-level horses and Warheaded (POST 2) could outrun the price in a thin field.

Mi Hermano (POST 6) at 6-1 for Melecio Saldana Guerrero and Adam Bowman closes the field. Bowman is a capable rider and will give Mi Hermano (POST 6) every chance, but the outside post in a six-and-a-half furlong sprint adds a layer of difficulty in a field where other horses have cleaner positional draws.

Selections

Win: Notamistake (POST 4) Place: Matzoball Muhammet (POST 3) Show: Firstflashofmoon (POST 5)

Betting Strategy: Key Notamistake (POST 4) over Matzoball Muhammet (POST 3) and Firstflashofmoon (POST 5) in the exacta. The 2-1 price on the top choice is short, so focus exotic money on the exacta rather than the win pool.

RACE 4 — Post (2:01) — 1830f | D | M | Md 30000 | BUM | Purse $30,000

Pace Analysis

This nine-furlong maiden claimer for fillies and mares at $30,000 is the richest maiden event on the card and likely contains the most quality in terms of raw talent. Mo Probable (POST 6) at 2-1 and Blame Eve (POST 2) at 2-1 share the morning line favoritism, which is unusual and suggests the oddsmakers see two horses of nearly equal caliber. The nine-furlong distance around two turns rewards stamina and tactical positioning. Rosie Outlook (POST 7) at 4-1 could press or stalk.

Key Contenders

Mo Probable (POST 6) at 2-1 for Kelly Breen and Luis Rivera Jr. is a horse with connections that command attention. Breen is one of the elite trainers in the Mid-Atlantic circuit and his first-time starters and lightly-raced horses regularly outperform expectations. Rivera is an accomplished jockey who has ridden for top stables. The six-post in a two-turn route is manageable, and if Mo Probable (POST 6) has the class expected from a Breen-conditioned maiden, this horse should be the one to beat.

Blame Eve (POST 2) at 2-1 for J. Carlos Guerrero and Ruben Silvera is the co-favorite and draws the two-hole, which in a two-turn route is an excellent post. Silvera has been one of the most consistent riders at Parx this meet and Blame Eve (POST 2) from a ground-saving post could prove difficult to beat.

Secondary Choices

Rosie Outlook (POST 7) at 4-1 for Felix Flores-Coba and Francisco Martinez is a horse that figures to be a major player in this field. Martinez is a capable handler in route races, and Rosie Outlook (POST 7) at 4-1 offers genuine value if the two co-favorites fight each other for position.

Anita Glassofwine (POST 1) at 5-1 for Irving Rodriguez and Dexter Haddock has the rail in a two-turn route, which is a significant positional advantage. At 5-1, this mare could represent strong each-way value, particularly in the exacta if she can stalk the two 2-1 shots to the top of the stretch.

Longshots

Sea Eff P T O (POST 3) at 6-1 for Kathlee Crook-DeMasi and F. Pennington is the third Crook-DeMasi runner on today's card. The trainer clearly has a full barn at the moment, and her horses tend to run honestly. At 6-1, Sea Eff P T O (POST 3) is worth a look in the trifecta.

Midwest Princess (POST 5) at 6-1 for Benjamin Dunn and Silvestre Gonzalez is a mid-field draw that works well in a two-turn route. Dunn is not among the top trainers in this colony statistically, but 6-1 is a price worth addressing in the trifecta.

Candy Kane (POST 4) at 20-1 for Howard Brown Jr. and Yan Rodriguez is the longest morning line price in the race. Despite Rodriguez's strong current form in the jockey colony, the 20-1 morning line suggests the horse's recent form does not project competitively in this field.

Selections

Win: Mo Probable (POST 6) Place: Blame Eve (POST 2) Show: Rosie Outlook (POST 7)

Betting Strategy: Box Mo Probable (POST 6) and Blame Eve (POST 2) in the exacta and use Rosie Outlook (POST 7) and Anita Glassofwine (POST 1) in a trifecta underneath. The co-favorite structure gives both win pool entries fair value but the exacta box is the correct approach when two horses share identical morning line odds.

RACE 5 — Post (2:28) — 1830f | D | C | Clm 7500n1y | BUN | Purse $21,000

Pace Analysis

This nine-furlong claimer for $7,500 non-winners of one race in the past year is a wide-open affair based on the morning line, with four horses sharing 4-1 morning line odds. The pace scenario in this two-turn route is difficult to project without knowing which of the five relatively even horses projects as the true early runner. Rerally (POST 1) from the rail and Amity Road (POST 3) are likely pace factors. At nine furlongs for $7,500, the pace rarely gets genuinely hot and front-runners can steal.

Key Contenders

Amity Road (POST 3) at 4-1 for Michael Pino and Luis Ocasio is a horse whose connections deserve the utmost respect. Pino is one of the most accomplished trainers in the Mid-Atlantic and has a long track record of winning races at Parx across all conditions. Ocasio is a solid partnering choice in route races. Amity Road (POST 3) from post three gets a ground-saving draw and should have every opportunity to stalk and pounce.

Concealed Carry (POST 6) at 4-1 for Jamie Ness and Emanuel Rosario is another horse whose connections demand serious attention. Ness is one of the most productive trainers in the mid-Atlantic and his horses are notoriously fit and ready. Rosario is a capable jockey who can wait for gaps in a route race. Concealed Carry (POST 6) at 4-1 on the morning line is a legitimate win candidate.

Secondary Choices

Hermoso Hombre (POST 8) at 4-1 for Esteban Padilla and Dexter Haddock is the third horse at the 4-1 morning line price, and Haddock is clearly a trainer-preferred rider for this stable today. Padilla has multiple horses entered and Hermoso Hombre (POST 8) from post eight in a two-turn route is the widest draw in the field, which adds some challenge. However, at 4-1 and with Haddock aboard, this is clearly a live runner.

Rerally (POST 1) at 5-1 for Miguel Penaloza and Jean Aguilar has the rail draw and the inside track in a two-turn route. Penaloza has two horses on the card today and Aguilar is a reliable rider in longer races. Rerally (POST 1) from the rail at 5-1 is a price worth including in all exotics.

Longshots

Fast Bob (POST 5) at 6-1 for Elliott Soto-Martinez and Francisco Martinez is a horse worth a trifecta mention. Martinez has a full book today, and Fast Bob (POST 5) from post five at 6-1 figures in the exotics if the race sets up to allow a stalker to close.

Whiting Field (POST 2) at 6-1 for Enrique Hernandez and Marvin Fernandez is a horse with an inside draw that works well at nine furlongs. Hernandez is not among the volume leaders at Parx but his horses can occasionally outrun their prices.

Sal N Louie (POST 4) at 8-1 for Marya Montoya and Adam Bowman is a horse whose trainer is not a major factor in this colony, but Bowman's presence keeps this horse in the conversation at 8-1. Montoya occasionally connects at big prices.

J J's Ranger (POST 7) at 8-1 for Esteban Padilla and Melvis Gonzalez is Padilla's second entry in this race. Hermoso Hombre (POST 8) with Haddock appears to be the trainer's preferred runner based on jockey assignments, which makes J J's Ranger (POST 7) the secondary stable hope.

Selections

Win: Amity Road (POST 3) Place: Concealed Carry (POST 6) Show: Rerally (POST 1)

Betting Strategy: With four horses at 4-1 on the morning line, this race is tailor-made for exotic play. Spread the win portion across Amity Road (POST 3), Concealed Carry (POST 6), and Hermoso Hombre (POST 8) in a trifecta box. Use Rerally (POST 1) in a superfecta as the inside price horse.

RACE 6 — Post (2:55) — 1320f | D | CO | OClm 25000 | BUM | Purse $28,000

Pace Analysis

This six-furlong open claimer for mares at $25,000 features Mamarsha (POST 5) as the heavy 2-1 morning line favorite, suggesting the handicappers see a clear class edge. The six-furlong sprint on the main track should produce a genuine pace with Polar Magic (POST 1) and Tiptop (POST 2) potentially pressing early. If Mamarsha (POST 5) is the class of this field and can stalk a contested pace, the race may be straightforward.

Key Contenders

Mamarsha (POST 5) at 2-1 for Ernesto Padilla-Preciado and Ruben Silvera is clearly the horse to beat based on morning line support and connections. Silvera has been consistent throughout this meet and post five in a six-furlong sprint for mares is a workable draw for a stalking type. If the class edge is genuine, Mamarsha (POST 5) should be rounding the far turn in a forward position.

Clean Winner (POST 3) at 4-1 for Kelly Breen and L. Rivera Jr. is another Breen runner on today's card, and as noted, Breen's barn is difficult to overlook. Clean Winner (POST 3) at 4-1 with Rivera Jr. aboard is a legitimate threat to the favorite, and the three-post in a one-turn sprint is a sound draw.

Secondary Choices

Cara's Dreamweaver (POST 6) at 4-1 for Jamie Ness and Martin Chuan is Ness's first of several entries today. The Ness barn is a volume outfit whose horses consistently hit the board, and at 4-1, Cara's Dreamweaver (POST 6) offers solid exacta value against a 2-1 favorite.

Tiptop (POST 2) at 5-1 for Kathlee Crook-DeMasi and Silvestre Gonzalez is a horse with one of the best sprint draws in the field. Post two in a one-turn six-furlong race at Parx is excellent, and if Tiptop (POST 2) has early speed and can press from a ground-saving position, she is a genuine contender.

Longshots

Polar Magic (POST 1) at 6-1 for David Dotolo and Joezer Rangel has the rail and the ability to press early in a sprint. Dotolo is not a high-percentage trainer but at 6-1 the rail draw brings this horse into trifecta consideration.

Lighten (POST 7) at 6-1 is Ness's second entry in this race. With Cara's Dreamweaver (POST 6) getting the more prominent morning line treatment and Chuan aboard, Lighten (POST 7) with Emanuel Rosario figures as the secondary Ness runner. Rosario is capable of winning but Lighten (POST 7) from post seven in a sprint may need the pace to collapse.

Spoonbill (POST 4) at 8-1 for Dee Curry and Jean Aguilar is the longest morning line price among the true longshots. Curry is not a consistent factor at this level, and 8-1 seems appropriate for a horse whose form may not be up to open $25,000 company.

Selections

Win: Mamarsha (POST 5) Place: Clean Winner (POST 3) Show: Tiptop (POST 2)

Betting Strategy: Single Mamarsha (POST 5) on top in the exacta with Clean Winner (POST 3) and Tiptop (POST 2). Use Cara's Dreamweaver (POST 6) in the trifecta underneath. The Breen angle with Clean Winner (POST 3) at 4-1 is the best value play in this race against the 2-1 favorite.

RACE 7 — Post (3:22) — 1760f | D | CO | OClm 25000 | BUN | Purse $28,000

Pace Analysis

This mile-and-a-sixteenth open claimer at $25,000 for geldings and horses is a well-constructed route race. Beale Street Boy (POST 4) at 2-1 is the morning line favorite from the Jamie Ness barn, and Impressiveness (POST 2) at 4-1 is also from Ness, giving the trainer a formidable two-pronged attack. Ice Shot (POST 3) at 5-1 and Psalmist (POST 5) at 5-1 fill out the competitive upper tier. The pace in a two-turn route at $25,000 open claiming should be honest.

Key Contenders

Beale Street Boy (POST 4) at 2-1 for Jamie Ness and Martin Chuan is clearly the Ness barn's primary weapon based on the morning line. The four-post in a two-turn route is workable, Chuan is a capable handler, and the Ness barn at $25,000 open claiming is often difficult to beat. Beale Street Boy (POST 4) figures to be positioning himself midpack and rallying on the far turn.

Impressiveness (POST 2) at 4-1 is Ness's second entry and draws the two-hole, which is an excellent post for a two-turn route. Emanuel Rosario rode the better Ness entrant in Race 5 and is aboard the second entry here, which is worth noting. With Ness horses dominating two of the top four spots, at least one of them should hit the board.

Secondary Choices

Ice Shot (POST 3) at 5-1 for Blake Kelly and Teshawn Hazelwood is a horse whose 5-1 morning line may understate the actual challenge this horse presents. Post three in a two-turn route is an excellent ground-saving position, and if Ice Shot (POST 3) can track the pace from the pocket, this is a genuine contender at a fair price.

Flash Of Chaos (POST 6) at 4-1 for Kathlee Crook-DeMasi and F. Pennington is another Crook-DeMasi entry on a busy day for the trainer. At 4-1, this horse figures in the exacta as a secondary choice and the connections are reliable.

Psalmist (POST 5) at 5-1 for Jacinto Solis and Ruben Silvera is worth noting. Solis has multiple horses entered today and Psalmist (POST 5) from post five in a route could press or stalk depending on the scenario. Silvera has been in excellent form this summer at Parx.

Longshots

Point Barrow (POST 1) at 6-1 for Jack Abrams and Francisco Martinez has the rail, which in a two-turn route at Parx is a genuine positional asset. Abrams is a trainer who occasionally wins at juicy prices, and Point Barrow (POST 1) at 6-1 from the inside should be included in all trifecta and superfecta plays.

Coach Rudy (POST 7) at 8-1 for Jaime Bravo-Estrada and Silvestre Gonzalez is the longest price in the field. Bravo-Estrada is a minor trainer in this colony and post seven in a two-turn route adds further difficulty. Coach Rudy (POST 7) belongs in superfecta plays only.

Selections

Win: Beale Street Boy (POST 4) Place: Impressiveness (POST 2) Show: Ice Shot (POST 3)

Betting Strategy: The Ness double in this race is compelling. Box Beale Street Boy (POST 4) and Impressiveness (POST 2) in the exacta. Add Ice Shot (POST 3) and Flash Of Chaos (POST 6) in the trifecta underneath to cover the non-Ness possibilities. Use Point Barrow (POST 1) as a trifecta saver at 6-1 from the rail.

RACE 8 — Post (3:49) — 1760f | D | CO | OClm 10000 | BUN | Purse $28,000

Pace Analysis

The mile-and-a-sixteenth open $10,000 claimer for geldings and horses features Youbetterbejoking (POST 5) as the 3-1 morning line choice for Michael Pino and Luis Ocasio. Walk Away Joe (POST 2) and Kick Startness (POST 7) at 4-1 are co-second choices. At $10,000 claiming for open horses at a mile-and-a-sixteenth, the pace often gets honest because several horses are likely going for early position to improve their ground in two-turn route events.

Key Contenders

Youbetterbejoking (POST 5) at 3-1 for Michael Pino and Luis Ocasio is the morning line choice and, as noted in Race 5, Pino is a highly respected conditioner whose horses consistently perform. Ocasio handles longer races well, and post five in a two-turn route is a manageable draw. Youbetterbejoking (POST 5) at 3-1 figures as the class edge in the field.

Kick Startness (POST 7) at 4-1 for Jamie Ness and Martin Chuan is Ness's entry in this race, continuing his busy afternoon. The Ness barn has been active and productive throughout today's card, and Kick Startness (POST 7) deserves serious consideration. The seven-post in a two-turn route is the widest Ness draw of the day, but Chuan should be able to find cover early.

Secondary Choices

Walk Away Joe (POST 2) at 4-1 for Ernesto Padilla-Preciado and Ruben Silvera has one of the best route draws in the field from post two. Silvera and Padilla-Preciado teamed up successfully in Race 6 with the morning line favorite, and Walk Away Joe (POST 2) at 4-1 from a ground-saving post is a genuine each-way value.

Amedeus Music (POST 3) at 5-1 for Wayne Potts and Abner Adorno is worth noting as a mid-range price from a workable draw. Potts also has Marty's Magic (POST 4) entered at 6-1, giving this trainer a two-horse entry similar to the Ness pattern in Race 7.

Longshots

Marty's Magic (POST 4) at 6-1 is the Potts second entry and Amedeus Music (POST 3) appears to be the primary choice based on jockey assignments. Marty's Magic (POST 4) with Eliseo Ruiz aboard is a horse for the trifecta.

Praetorian Guard (POST 8) at 6-1 for Jacinto Solis and F. Pennington is worth mentioning as a trifecta inclusion. Solis has had multiple horses on today's card and his horses tend to run honest figures.

Twentyeighttothree (POST 6) at 10-1 for Howard Brown Jr. and Francisco Martinez and Roan Burgundy (POST 1) at 10-1 for Eli Betancourt Jr. and Kendry Rivera are the longest prices in the field. Both are longshots who belong in superfecta exotics only.

Selections

Win: Youbetterbejoking (POST 5) Place: Kick Startness (POST 7) Show: Walk Away Joe (POST 2)

Betting Strategy: Youbetterbejoking (POST 5) is the straightforward win play. Box the top three in the trifecta and add Amedeus Music (POST 3) in a partial key trifecta with Youbetterbejoking (POST 5) on top.

RACE 9 — Post (4:16) — 1320f | D | C | Clm 10000 | BUM | Purse $26,000

Pace Analysis

The finale is a six-furlong $10,000 claimer for fillies and mares, and it looks like a genuine battle between three horses at 4-1 on the morning line: Never Sway (POST 2), Cruise Missile (POST 3), and Moor Strength (POST 4). The closeness of the morning line pricing across most of the field signals a genuinely competitive and possibly contentious early pace, with multiple horses likely pressing for position in the first quarter of this sprint.

Key Contenders

Never Sway (POST 2) at 4-1 for Jorge Diaz and Melvis Gonzalez has an excellent sprint draw from post two. Gonzalez has been a capable rider throughout the meet and Never Sway (POST 2) from the inside in a six-furlong sprint is positioned to track the rail path throughout. Diaz is a trainer who wins at consistent percentages at the mid-Atlantic level.

Cruise Missile (POST 3) at 4-1 for Michael Moore and Andy Hernandez is another co-favorite at 4-1. Moore is an underrated trainer at this level and Cruise Missile (POST 3) from post three is excellently drawn for a sprint. Hernandez is capable in sprint assignments.

Moor Strength (POST 4) at 4-1 for Irving Rodriguez and Sebastian Orellana is the third co-favorite. Post four in a six-furlong sprint is a workable draw, and Rodriguez as a trainer has been active throughout this card.

Secondary Choices

Leftover Sushi (POST 5) at 5-1 for Marya Montoya and Dexter Haddock is worth significant attention at this price. Haddock has been one of the busiest and most consistent riders throughout today's card, and Montoya's horses occasionally spring surprises at fair prices. Leftover Sushi (POST 5) from post five in a sprint is a legitimate each-way proposition.

Fuhgeddaboudit (POST 7) at 5-1 for James Noble and Silvestre Gonzalez is a horse that fits in the exacta at a fair price. Noble is a journeyman trainer who can win at this level, and post seven in a one-turn sprint is manageable for a horse with natural early speed.

Longshots

Fussy Girl (POST 8) at 6-1 for Miguel Penaloza and Jean Aguilar is the Penaloza third entry on today's card. Penaloza has been patient with his horses and Aguilar has ridden competently throughout the afternoon. Fussy Girl (POST 8) from the outside post in a sprint is the main concern, but at 6-1, this mare belongs in trifecta coverage.

I'm A Lucky Girl (POST 1) at 8-1 for Howard Brown Jr. and Yan Rodriguez is a horse with the rail draw that gets a boost from the post position alone. Rodriguez has been the most active rider on the circuit today and 8-1 from post one in a six-furlong sprint is a value price worth including in trifectas and superfectas.

Browneyedvalentine (POST 6) at 8-1 for Howard Brown Jr. and Francisco Martinez is Brown's second entry in the finale. The trainer has multiple horses today, and between I'm A Lucky Girl (POST 1) with the rail draw and Rodriguez, Browneyedvalentine (POST 6) would appear to be the secondary stable runner. At 8-1, still worth trifecta consideration.

Selections

Win: Never Sway (POST 2) Place: Cruise Missile (POST 3) Show: Leftover Sushi (POST 5)

Betting Strategy: With three co-favorites at 4-1 and a competitive field, this race is ideal for trifecta and superfecta play. Box Never Sway (POST 2), Cruise Missile (POST 3), and Moor Strength (POST 4) in the trifecta and add Leftover Sushi (POST 5) and I'm A Lucky Girl (POST 1) in a superfecta. The 8-1 morning line on I'm A Lucky Girl (POST 1) from the rail is the best value play in the finale.

Jockey Notes and Insights

Yan Rodriguez is among the busiest riders on today's card, with mounts in Race 1, Race 2, Race 3, and Race 9. Rodriguez has been consistently among the leaders in the Parx jockey standings this summer and his ability to save ground from inside draws makes him particularly valuable on today's fast-track card. His most attractive assignment may be Major Weigelia (POST 1) in Race 3 at 5-1 from the rail, and he gets a live shot in Race 9 with the potentially undervalued I'm A Lucky Girl (POST 1).

Francisco Martinez has one of the heaviest books on today's card, appearing in Races 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9. The volume of Martinez's mounts today reflects his status as a reliable journeyman whose trainers trust him across a wide variety of race conditions and distances. His best opportunity may be Rosie Outlook (POST 7) in Race 4 at 4-1 in a maiden route.

Dexter Haddock is another jockey with multiple assignments across today's nine races, appearing in Races 1, 2, 4, 5, and 9. Haddock has shown improvement as a rider at Parx and his trainers today include Jacinto Solis, Esteban Padilla, and Marya Montoya. His most interesting spot is Hermoso Hombre (POST 8) in Race 5 at 4-1 for the Padilla barn, where Haddock appears to be the trainer-preferred rider.

Ruben Silvera is another rider appearing across multiple races, including Race 1, Race 4, Race 5, Race 6, and Race 8. His most prominent assignment is Mamarsha (POST 5) in Race 6, the 2-1 morning line favorite. Silvera has been in excellent form this summer and his partnership with the Padilla-Preciado barn has been productive.

Emanuel Rosario is aboard Concealed Carry (POST 6) in Race 5 and Impressiveness (POST 2) in Race 7 for the Jamie Ness barn, highlighting his role as a key Ness partner at Parx. Rosario's experience at this level makes him a reliable partner for the active Ness stable.

Adam Bowman is a rider whose Parx form has been steady and who picks up mounts for quality barns including Wyner and Crook-DeMasi today. His best spot may be Formaggio (POST 6) in Race 2 at 3-1, where the sprint setup and Bowman's positioning instincts could prove decisive.

Trainer Notes and Insights

Jamie Ness is undoubtedly the trainer story of today's card, saddling horses in Races 5, 6, 7, and 8. Ness fields Concealed Carry (POST 6) in Race 5, Cara's Dreamweaver (POST 6) and Lighten (POST 7) as a double entry in Race 6, a formidable Beale Street Boy (POST 4) and Impressiveness (POST 2) double entry in Race 7, and Kick Startness (POST 7) in Race 8. The Ness barn consistently ranks among the top training operations in the mid-Atlantic, and a card like today with four races and five entries is a strong signal that Ness is pointing fit horses at competitive spots. The Race 7 double entry where Beale Street Boy (POST 4) is the 2-1 morning line and Impressiveness (POST 2) is 4-1 is particularly compelling, and bettors should strongly consider using both horses in exotics.

Kelly Breen saddles Clean Winner (POST 3) in Race 6 and Mo Probable (POST 6) in Race 4. Breen's horses are consistently well-prepared and his runners at Parx — while not frequent — tend to perform near the top of the field. Mo Probable (POST 6) in Race 4 at 2-1 as a Breen-trained maiden at $30,000 is one of the strongest trainer angles on today's card.

Scott Lake has entries in Race 1 with Housebuster Dude (POST 5) and Race 2 with Panama Limited (POST 1). Lake is consistently among the top trainers in the mid-Atlantic by volume and win percentage, and his horses receive excellent care and preparation. The rail draw for Panama Limited (POST 1) in Race 2 is a Lake angle worth exploiting in the exacta.

Jacinto Solis enters multiple horses today across Races 1, 3, 7, and 8. Solis is an active conditioner at Parx who wins at a respectable percentage. The dual entries in Race 1 with No Mor Stones (POST 1) and Winning Song (POST 6) warrant close attention to pre-race odds movement, as tote action can often clarify which horse the stable prefers on race day.

Kathlee Crook-DeMasi is another trainer with multiple entries across the card, including Notamistake (POST 4) in Race 3, Sea Eff P T O (POST 3) in Race 4, Tiptop (POST 2) in Race 6, and Flash Of Chaos (POST 6) in Race 7. Crook-DeMasi wins at consistent percentages at the Parx claiming level and her horses in Races 3 and 6 deserve particularly close scrutiny given the post position advantages.

Esteban Padilla saddles It's Authentic (POST 2) in Race 1, J J's Ranger (POST 7) and Hermoso Hombre (POST 8) in Race 5. The jockey assignment split between Haddock on Hermoso Hombre (POST 8) and Gonzalez on J J's Ranger (POST 7) suggests the trainer slightly favors Hermoso Hombre (POST 8) as the stable's better chance in Race 5.

Howard Brown Jr. is a trainer who shows up across multiple races today with I'm A Lucky Girl (POST 1) and Browneyedvalentine (POST 6) in Race 9, Candy Kane (POST 4) in Race 4, and Twentyeighttothree (POST 6) in Race 8. Brown's best opportunity on the card appears to be I'm A Lucky Girl (POST 1) in Race 9 at 8-1 from the rail with Rodriguez.

Best Wagering Strategies and Value Plays

The primary value narrative on today's card centers on the Jamie Ness multiple-entry strategy in Races 7 and 8. In Race 7, Beale Street Boy (POST 4) and Impressiveness (POST 2) represent a trainer double that could yield an Ness exacta at a potentially profitable price. The exacta combining the 2-1 and 4-1 morning line entries from the same trainer in a 7-horse field offers genuine overlay potential if the public overweights the two horses separately rather than recognizing the exacta value.

The Kelly Breen angle is one of the strongest plays on the card. Mo Probable (POST 6) in Race 4 at 2-1 as a Breen-trained maiden at $30,000 represents the most confident win selection on the card from a trainer-angle perspective. Breen's horses are nearly always ready and his mid-Atlantic shippers win at a high clip. Betting Mo Probable (POST 6) across the board and keying it on top in trifectas with Blame Eve (POST 2) and Rosie Outlook (POST 7) is the recommended structure.

The Pick 4 covering Races 6 through 9 is the best multi-race sequence on the card. Mamarsha (POST 5) in Race 6 anchors the sequence as the 2-1 morning line favorite, making her a logical single. In Race 7, use both Beale Street Boy (POST 4) and Impressiveness (POST 2) to cover the Ness barn completely. In Race 8, use Youbetterbejoking (POST 5) and Walk Away Joe (POST 2) as the primary horses. In Race 9, spread across Never Sway (POST 2), Cruise Missile (POST 3), and Leftover Sushi (POST 5). This Pick 4 structure using one, two, two, and three horses creates a manageable twelve-ticket sequence at standard base prices.

The most attractive longshot play on today's card is Panama Limited (POST 1) in Race 2 at 5-1 from the rail for Scott Lake. The Lake rail draw in a six-furlong sprint is a combination of factors that consistently produces winners. Using Panama Limited (POST 1) in the exacta under Allenhurst (POST 7) and in a trifecta with Formaggio (POST 6) creates a live ticket at a price that returns meaningful profit.

I'm A Lucky Girl (POST 1) in Race 9 at 8-1 from the rail with Yan Rodriguez is the best value price among deeper longshots on today's card. In a competitive six-furlong sprint for $10,000 mares where three horses share 4-1 morning line odds, the race could easily come apart and a front-running type from the rail could steal the show. Using I'm A Lucky Girl (POST 1) on top in the exacta and trifecta at 8-1 creates strong positive expected value if the price holds.

The most important non-wagering note for today remains the all-dirt surface mandate following the Parx turf course delay. Any horse whose trainer has been pointing toward a turf switch or who appeared to be improving on turf in past campaigns should be downgraded accordingly, as every race today will be run on the main track with no surface alternative available.
