PICK PONY HANDICAPPER REPORT — EVANGELINE DOWNS — APRIL 22, 2026

Fast/good main track playing to speed and inside posts; turf course firm to good favoring tactical runners. Posts 1-4 hold a clear edge in sprints; posts 3-6 optimal in dirt routes. Dominguez, Hernandez, and Pompell carry the strongest books tonight.

RACE 1 — 6:30 PM | 1540f | Dirt | Clm 10000

Romeo Spikes (3) is the class of the field at 2-1 from a workable post in a route that should punish early speed. Perpetual Patience (2) must be included in all exotics as the logical stalker. Imperial Bandit (9) is the only longshot worth a small trifecta look if the pace gets hot.

RACE 2 — 6:57 PM | 1320f | Dirt | Md 20000

It's Been Real (5) gets the call from a square post with a capable pilot in a maiden mile. Cava De Oro (2) and Provoker (4) are both legitimate threats and belong in exacta and trifecta coverage. She's Wild Again (7) at 6-1 is the only closer with a realistic shot if the pace collapses.

RACE 3 — 7:24 PM | 1830f | Dirt | Clm 5000n3l

Barricade (4) draws a prime post for the most demanding route on the card and earns the top call. Righteous Star (10) is equally dangerous despite the wide draw, with Dominguez capable of navigating from difficult posts. Lil Bro Coop (1) is a credible third option from the rail at 5-1.

RACE 4 — 7:51 PM | 1210f | Dirt | Clm 4000b

Destiny's Grace (9) is the morning line favorite but compresses the return at 2-1 in a bottom-level claimer. Madelyn's Hit (7) at 3-1 offers better value from a clean post with a sound stalking trip expected. Mission Belle (2) rounds out the top three and belongs in all trifecta structures.

RACE 5 — 8:18 PM | 1760f | Turf | Clm 20000b

Fickle Mistress (8) pairs the meet's top jockey with a strong turf trainer and is the clear top selection on the grass. No Map Needed (2) figures to set the pace from a favorable post and cannot be used beneath in exactas. Hurricane Kate (4) at 5-1 from the four post is the best value play in the race and belongs underneath in trifectas.

RACE 6 — 8:46 PM | 1100f | Dirt | OClm 10000

Drilling Report (1) is the structural play of the night — rail post in a six-furlong sprint at a speed-favoring track is the most powerful advantage on the card. Marks Promise (8) at 5-1 is the top secondary choice and the best single-horse price overlay of the evening if the two co-favorites engage in a speed duel. Stovall (4) at 6-1 from the four post is a solid trifecta fill underneath.

RACE 7 — 9:13 PM | 1760f | Dirt | OClm 12500n1x

Interlock Empire (6) is the featured race top selection in the richest race of the night, pairing the card's strongest trainer with a reliable front-running jockey from a quality post. Life Is A Banquet (7) is the most dangerous rival, set up perfectly to stalk and pounce from the seven post. Flamingproposition (2) at 4-1 from the two post cannot be dismissed given the shared trainer, and Pacificislandtime (4) at 4-1 is a legitimate each-way threat.

RACE 8 — 9:40 PM | 1100f | Dirt | Md 5000

Millie's Deal (5) is the top selection in the nightcap from a square post in a maiden sprint where speed should dictate the outcome. Rasee Girl (8) at 3-1 and Peanutbutter Peggy (2) at 4-1 from the favorable two post are the primary exacta partners. Box the top three in trifectas and add Regal Time (4) at 6-1 from the four post as a fourth option in a partial box.
