Keeneland Race Course — Sunday April 19, 2026 — Condensed Selections Report
Fast main track and good-to-firm turf expected. Stalkers and pressers have the edge on dirt; mid-pack turf runners saving ground have dominated the meet. Large fields in Races 3, 6, and 9 demand wide exotic coverage.
Race 1 — 1M Dirt Claiming $50,000
Tarantino (3) controls the pace and figures best in a manageable field. Goldeneye (6) is the most dangerous closer at a workable price. Carolo Rapido (7) worth including in trifecta savers.
Race 2 — 1M Dirt Claiming $20,000 N2L
Bartender (1) is the race anchor with a tactical edge from the rail. Country Club (5) is a legitimate threat pressing or stalking. Romany Road (2) offers mild value as a supporting piece.
Race 3 — 6.5F Dirt Maiden Claiming $30,000
Gus's Gal (5) is the top choice if she breaks cleanly in the crowded 16-horse field. Hot Gamer (16) demands respect despite the wide draw. Red Raze (7) and Chasing Sunsets (4) are solid trifecta fill candidates.
Race 4 — 9.5F Dirt Maiden Special Weight
Up Country (9) is a dominant favorite and the day's clearest single for multi-race wagers. Commerce (4) is the most credible alternative at a workable price. Saugeen (2) is worth adding underneath given the pedigree and rider quality.
Race 5 — 7.5F Dirt Maiden Special Weight
Final Story (7) is another near-certain single for the late Pick 5. Cierto (2) is the standout alternative and offers genuine win value if the favorite disappoints. Our Forefathers (1) is the only other horse worth including in multi-race protection.
Race 6 — 1M+ Turf Allowance N2L
Noble Dynasty (10) is the top selection in a wide-open 15-horse turf route. Empire West (14) at 8-1 is the best value play on the card and the primary exacta partner. Gairloch (6), Patrol Squad Six (7), and Beautiful War (12) are all legitimate board threats worth including in trifecta and superfecta coverage.
Race 7 — 7.5F Dirt Allowance N1X
Elnajd (6) is the race anchor and the clearest single in the afternoon's back half. Dr. Park (1) is the most credible alternative with pace flexibility. Academy (8) is a dangerous longshot capable of outrunning the morning line.
Race 8 — 6F Turf Listed Stakes $300,000 — Palisades Stakes
Schwarzenegger (4) is the marquee selection with an ideal trainer-jockey pairing for turf sprints. Intricate Spirit (11) is the primary threat and the strongest alternative at fair value. Sandal's Song (6) at 6-1 is the best overlay in the race, with Throckmorton (10) and Archimedes (5) worth including as live trifecta options.
Race 9 — 7.5F Dirt Maiden Special Weight
Quarry (3) and Asheville (11) share top billing in the 16-horse finale and both deserve prominent exacta placement. Bod Beach (8) rounds out the main trifecta combination. Non Conforming (2) and Cerberus (15) are the most interesting longshots if the pace collapses.
