Pick Pony Handicapper Report — Penn National, September 2, 2026

Penn National's seven-race evening sprint card is run under hot, humid conditions with late-storm potential that could soften the surface for the final races; early bias favors tactical speed and ground-saving trips on both dirt and turf, with mid-range posts generally advantageous in turf sprints.

Race 1 — OClm 16000 | Dirt | 6F

Rip My Heart (1) is the spot-play single, sitting just off a modest five-horse pace and poised to pounce from the rail with a ground-saving trip. Brother Paul (3) and Golden Cookie (2) are the main secondary threats, with the former pressing and grinding and the latter capable of controlling a moderate tempo. The Piranha (5) is worth a small trifecta saver from outside if the pace leaders soften.

Race 2 — OClm 16000 | Turf | 5.5F

Celestial Speed (2) controls or sits just off a lively early tempo and is tough to catch if left alone through honest fractions. Reckless Spending (5) presses outside and threatens, while Raven Dance (8) is the most attractive secondary play, avoiding inner traffic and making a sustained wide run. Quiet City (1) is a trip-based longshot with a clean-break scenario.

Race 3 — Alw 37000n1x | Turf | 5.5F

Tropandhagen (5) combines tactical speed with superior allowance class in a ten-horse field and can dictate from a central post. Mask Patrol (7) is the primary danger with positional flexibility, and Bronx Boys (10) offers clear outside tracking with strong exacta appeal. Keeping The Faith (8) and Whisper Roar (9) are the most interesting closing longshots for trifecta and superfecta use.

Race 4 — Clm 10000n2l | Dirt | 6F

Penn Franklin (2) sits off a manageable pace in a five-horse field and grinds down the leaders in a straightforward stalking trip. Rar (4) is the main alternative, pressing outside and capable of taking over at the quarter pole. Miami Kaz (1) is a live secondary player if speed holds and fractions stay moderate, while Letspumpthebrakes (3) is a pace-factor longshot worth small coverage underneath.

Race 5 — OClm 40000b | Dirt | 6F

Itty Biddy City (3) is the class speed of the race and can wire the field if allowed manageable fractions from post 3. Joyous Song (4) is a must-use pressing threat, and Braquet (2) is the danger stalker if the top pair duel too hard. Missy Sixtysix (1) and Midnight Flight (5) round out the trifecta with ground-saving and closing angles, respectively.

Race 6 — Clm 10000b | Dirt | 6F

Eleni (2) is the spot-play overlay, ideally positioned to track a contested early pace from post 2 and produce a well-timed stretch drive. Blast Of Mischief (5) is the likely favorite with controlling speed but must avoid dueling with Mega Changer (4). Serious Nonsense (3) stalks right behind the leaders and is a strong exacta and trifecta inclusion, with Calisa (1) a secondary rail longshot.

Race 7 — Clm 8000b | Dirt | 6F

Bermuda Triangle (2) owns pace and class advantages in the widest field of the card and can control the inside path from a favorable post. Great Kisser (7) presses outside and has the late kick to outfinish the primary speed, making this pair the top exacta combo. Jace Is No Joke (3) and Bells Run (1) are key secondary inclusions, with No No Joe (9) and Bermuda Run (10) worth spreading to in trifectas and superfectas given the large field and likely hot pace.
