Track Surface & Bias

The dirt (D) main track at Delaware Park traditionally plays fair to mildly speed-favoring, with front-runners and pace-pressers holding an edge, especially in sprints and route races with moderate early fractions. Inside to mid posts are typically comfortable, with the rail rarely being a strong disadvantage under standard conditions. Historically, when the surface is dry and consistent, horses that secure position early and stay within a few lengths of the lead tend to outperform deep closers.

The turf (T) course generally rewards stalkers and mid-pack runners who can quicken turning for home, rather than pure front-runners or late-running closers.
