Track Surface & Bias Ellis Park's dirt races should continue to favor forwardly placed runners and pace-pressers, with inside-to-middle draws generally the most efficient when the surface is playing fast in summer conditions. On the turf, the expected edge is for stalkers and handy mid-pack runners who can save ground early and make one run turning for home, while deep closers usually need a strong pace and a clean trip to be most effective. In a mixed D/T program, the practical lean is toward horses with early tactical speed on dirt and turf runners that can sit just off the pace without losing position.
