Track Surface & Bias

Fairmount Park is dirt-only (D), and the surface typically plays fair-to-speed-friendly in midsummer when the track is dry and tightly packed. Recent cards under similar July conditions have shown a mild edge to forwardly placed runners who can secure position early and stay out of kickback. Inside-to-middle posts generally perform well on a standard Fairmount dirt strip, with no strong evidence of a deep outside bias in routine summer conditions.

Front-runners and pace-pressers should have a slight advantage, especially in shorter sprints where early speed can control the race flow.
