Track Surface & Bias

The dirt (D) surface at FAR is expected to play fair-to-mildly speed-favoring, with a slight lean toward front-runners and pace-pressing stalkers securing an advantage, especially in the early races. Historical patterns at comparable mid-level tracks under standard summer conditions suggest that inside to mid posts tend to break well and hold position, while deep outside posts can be at a minor disadvantage in shorter sprints due to ground loss and tighter first turns.

As the card progresses, the dirt surface typically tightens and becomes more consolidated, which can further aid forwardly placed runners who secure the rail or sit just off the pace. Closers can still be effective, but generally require an honest or contested early tempo and a clean outside lane in the stretch, rather than trying to rally through traffic on the inside.
