Finger Lakes is scheduled to run on dirt, and the most likely fair-to-speed-favoring profile is a fast or near-fast track with inside-to-middle lanes playing best early. Under those conditions, front-runners and pace-pressers usually have the clearest edge, while stalkers are the best secondary style if the pace is honest.
Historically, Finger Lakes tends to reward horses that can secure position quickly and avoid giving away ground into the first turn, which makes inside and mid draws more attractive than wide posts in many dirt races. In routes, the bias can soften a bit for horses sitting just off the pace, but pure closers still need a meaningful pace collapse to become dangerous.
For wagering, conditions point toward giving extra consideration to runners with early speed, tactical speed, and proven Finger Lakes dirt form. If the field looks loaded with pace, closer types become more viable, but the default assumption at this track is still a speed-leaning dirt setup.
