Pick Pony Track Condition Report — Finger Lakes Racetrack, May 25, 2026
Track Surface & Bias
Finger Lakes' main track is a dirt surface where recent meeting trends have leaned toward speed, especially at shorter sprint trips. With the track profile often showing a slight advantage to inside paths and forward placement when conditions are tight, horses able to secure an early position tend to be well served. In dirt races, stalking types can also be effective if the pace is honest, while deep closers usually need a faster-than-average tempo to make an impact.
Handicapper’s Edge
Today's card should reward runners that can establish position early and hold a lane near the rail or inside half of the track, particularly in sprints. Handicappers may want to give extra weight to pace and draw when sorting contenders, since sustained late rallies can be tougher to pull off if the surface is playing speed-favoring.
