Track Surface & Bias

The recent meet profile points to a speed and inside-position advantage on dirt: early runners have performed best in sprints, with the rail/inside especially effective at 5½–6 furlongs. Dirt routes have shown more success from outside posts, so avoid assuming the inside is universally beneficial beyond a mile. On turf, outside posts and forwardly placed runners have generally held an edge in sprints, while turf routes have favored patient, closing styles.
