Pick Pony Track Condition Report — Laurel Park, November 8, 2026
Track Surface & Bias
Laurel's dirt profile has recently favored early speed, with front-runners especially effective at six furlongs and one mile, while inside posts have generally performed well at sprint distances. Longer dirt routes have also shown an advantage to forwardly placed runners, particularly from the rail or inside posts. On turf, sprint races have leaned toward early speed from middle-to-outside positions, while turf routes have favored closers.
Handicapper’s Edge
Prioritize alert break runners and tactical stalkers in dirt sprints, particularly when they draw inside. In turf routes, give additional weight to patient closers, while turf-sprint handicapping should remain open to prominent runners drawn in the middle or outside.
