Track Surface & Bias

The dirt should begin fast to good if the morning remains dry, with the possibility of becoming wet or tiring if afternoon rain reaches the course. On a dry, tightly packed surface, inside-to-middle posts and forward positioning—particularly front-runners and pace-pressers—typically hold an advantage; recent Laurel data also shows speed performing well in dirt sprints, especially from middle posts.
