Pick Pony Track Condition Report — Lone Star Park, July 11, 2026

Track Surface & Bias

Lone Star Park's dirt (D) surface typically plays fair-to-mildly speed-favoring, with front-runners and pace-pressers holding an edge, especially in sprints and when the track is listed as fast. Inside-to-middle posts are generally preferred in one-turn races, while route races on dirt tend to be more balanced but still reward horses that can secure position early and avoid wide trips.

The turf (T) course at Lone Star often rewards stalkers and tactical closers, particularly in routes where early pace can soften up front-runners. Middle posts are usually ideal on turf, giving horses enough room to secure position without getting pinned on the rail or parked wide into the first turn. Given typical summer conditions in Grand Prairie, expect firm turf, which can enhance late kick for horses with strong turn-of-foot.

Handicapper’s Edge

On today's dirt races, give slight preference to horses with demonstrated early speed or pace-pressing ability, especially those drawn on the inside to middle of the gate who can secure position quickly. In turf events, upgrade versatile stalkers breaking from mid-range posts and runners with proven form on firm ground, as they are best positioned to capitalize on the expected pace dynamics and course firmness.
