Pick Pony Track Condition Report — Parx Racing, May 19, 2026
Track Surface & Bias
Parx's main dirt track historically plays fairly honest on dry, “fast” days, with a slight lean toward horses with tactical speed — those able to secure a forward position without getting embroiled in a hard duel. Inside-to-middle posts (1–6) are typically preferred going a mile, as they allow runners to save ground into the first turn and control early position. Deep closers can win, but they generally need an above-average early pace and should come from the two- to four-path rather than being pinned on the rail.
If recent moisture has left the surface wet but sealed, the profile tends to tilt more strongly to speed and pace-pressers, especially from inside and just off the rail. When the track begins to dry out and turns “good” or “muddy” but not sealed, outside lanes can improve later in the card, and stalkers sitting just off the leaders in the 3–4 path often gain an edge as inside footing gets chewed up.
Handicapper’s Edge
Focus on horses with proven early foot or tactical speed and solid Parx dirt form, especially those drawn inside to mid-gate in the route races. Upgrade runners who have previously shown the ability to maintain position around the first turn and finish with something left, and be cautious about one-dimensional closers who rely on extreme pace meltdowns unless the card shows a clear late-running trend in the first few races.
