Track Surface & Bias

The dirt (D) surface at POD typically plays fairly honest when moisture is managed well, with a mild lean toward forward or pace-pressing types. Inside-to-middle posts usually secure the best trips, especially in sprints, where saving ground into the first turn can be a key advantage. As the day wears on, the track can tighten and slightly favor horses with tactical speed who can sit just off the pace rather than deep closers.

Handicapper’s Edge

Given the expected profile, give extra credit to runners with tactical speed drawn inside or mid-gate, particularly in dirt sprints and middle-distance routes. Closers remain usable but should be upgraded only if they have a demonstrated ability to sustain a long, steady run rather than a short burst from far back.
