Winds have been generally south to southwest at 10–20 mph, with only isolated thunderstorm chances and predominantly dry conditions supporting fast dirt surfaces.

Track Surface & Bias

With the dirt (D) surface the only one in use and several consecutive days of hot, mostly dry weather, the track is expected to play fast and firm, with minimal moisture retained in the cushion. Under similar recent conditions at Prairie Meadows, the dirt has consistently favored early speed and forwardly placed runners, as the dry, packed surface allows front‑runners and tactical stalkers to sustain momentum and make it difficult for deep closers to reel them in. Historically on fast summer dirt here, inside to mid posts tend to be slightly preferred in sprints, where speed can secure rail position quickly, while routes often reward horses that can secure position within a length or two of the lead going into the first turn, rather than dropping far back.
