For the Thistledown / North Randall area this afternoon, regional forecasts for greater Cleveland call for partly sunny, drying conditions with high temperatures in the upper 70s to around 80°F, as a recent unsettled pattern shifts east and drier air filters in. Winds are expected to be light to moderate, generally 5–10 mph with a southwest to west component, which should not materially affect racing flow. Any lingering shower threat is low and mainly early, with the bulk of the racing window favored to be dry.

Track Surface & Bias

With a drying, late‑summer afternoon and no meaningful new rainfall expected during the card, Thistledown's dirt main track should play fast or very close to it for most of the program, consistent with typical August conditions at the venue. Historically, a fast Thistledown dirt surface in warm, dry weather has tended to slightly favor speed and pace‑pressers, with front‑runners and stalkers within a length or two of the lead at the first call performing best, while deep closers generally need either an overcooked pace or class edge to get involved. Inside‑to‑middle posts (roughly posts 1–6 in larger fields) have often been mildly advantageous, as they allow tactical types to secure position into the first turn without losing ground, though the edge is usually incremental rather than extreme on a true fast track.
