Track Surface & Bias For a dirt card, WBR should generally reward horses able to secure position early, with the most favorable trips usually going to speed and stalkers that can sit just off the pace and save ground. On a fair main track, inside-to-mid post positions tend to be efficient for tactical runners, while deep closers usually need a stronger-than-average pace setup to make up ground.
Handicapper's Edge In these conditions, lean toward horses with proven early pace or tactical speed, especially if they can clear or track within striking range before the far turn. If the track plays consistently, runners who can control the race shape are often more reliable than late closers, particularly in shorter dirt events.
