Pick Pony Track Condition Report — WYO, August 7, 2026

Weather Forecast WYO should race under hot, dry, and breezy conditions, with central and south-central Wyoming forecast to be sunny and smoky, highs in the upper 80s to upper 90s, and gusts reaching 20-30 mph in spots. For the broader Wyoming forecast, areas of smoke are expected early with mostly sunny skies later, and wind gusts around 24 mph in Casper and up to 30 mph in Rawlins.

Track Surface & Bias With the card listed on D surface and the prevailing setup pointing to a dry, wind-affected day, the track should play most favorably to speed and tactical pace rather than deep closers. Expect the best trips to come from inside-to-middle post positions that can establish position early or sit just off the lead, while wide-sweeping closers may need a fast early pace to make a dent. If the surface firms up through the card, front-runners and stalkers with efficient early foot should retain the clearest edge.

Handicapper's Edge Use the day's conditions to give extra weight to horses with early speed, gate sharpness, and proven ability to carry pace on firm dirt. If the wind is a factor on track, that can further punish wide trips and make it harder for late runners to produce their best run from off the pace.
