Pick Pony Track Condition Report — WYO, June 14, 2026

Weather Forecast

Across Wyoming today, conditions trend cool and mostly sunny with only a slight chance of light showers in a few spots and generally dry, clearing skies by afternoon. High temperatures across central and south‑central Wyoming are projected in the upper 60s to low 70s°F, with morning lows in the upper 30s to low 40s°F. Winds are expected to be light to moderate, with some areas seeing breezy periods and gusts in the 20–25 mph range, especially in the southwest and open plains.

Track Surface & Bias

With a dry dirt (D) surface, cool temperatures, and limited precipitation, WYO's main track should play fast to mildly fair, with good footing and minimal moisture retention. Historically under these kinds of Wyoming conditions—dry air, moderate temps, and only light breeze—the surface tends to favor tactical speed and forwardly placed runners rather than deep closers, as the track often tightens up and rewards horses who can secure position early. Inside posts typically hold up well early in the card, but as the surface takes traffic, mid‑gate posts and pace‑pressing “stalkers” often perform best, especially in middle‑distance routes, while one‑run closers usually need an above‑average pace meltdown to be fully effective.

Handicapper’s Edge

Expect the early and tactical speed profile to be a slight asset: give extra credit to runners who have shown the ability to break cleanly and travel comfortably within a length or two of the lead. In multi‑race wagers, lean toward pace‑versatile types that have handled fast tracks before, and be cautious about over‑rating horses whose best efforts came on wet or cuppy surfaces.
