Scans the last-10 finish positions and distance fields for any start where the finish was 1st and the distance was within one furlong of today's distance. A horse with a documented win at today's trip has already demonstrated that it can handle the distance demands — the pace requirements, the turn configuration, and the stretch length. This is especially meaningful when the horse is returning to a distance after testing other distances, and is a stronger signal than DIST_UNPROVEN working in reverse.
