FINGER LAKES RACETRACK — RACE DAY OVERVIEW

July 21, 2026

Finger Lakes Racetrack in Farmington, New York presents an eight-race Monday card that runs the gamut from maiden special weight action to claiming contests at multiple levels. The afternoon features a total handle target built around the feature Race 7 allowance, with the card kicking off at 12:55 PM Eastern. Purses range from $13,800 in the lower claiming ranks to $32,600 for the maiden special weight in Race 4. The card is predominantly dirt, with distances ranging from six furlongs up to the marathon 1 and 1/16-mile distance in Race 8.

Paul Barrow is the trainer to watch early, saddling multiple entrants across the first several races. Jonathan Buckley also has a strong presence throughout the card. The Ferraro barn — both M. Anthony and Michael — are each represented, and Chris Englehart has runners in the later races. Keiber Coa and Kevin Navarro figure to be among the busiest riders on the afternoon and both are live on solid mounts.

The overall class structure of today's card is modest by regional standards, befitting a summer Monday at Finger Lakes, but the presence of a Kenneth McPeek-trained entrant in Race 4 adds a touch of outside interest to what is otherwise a locally-dominated card.

WEATHER AND TRACK CONDITIONS

Finger Lakes sits in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, where July conditions typically bring warm, humid afternoons. The forecast for the Farmington area on July 21, 2026 calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit. No significant precipitation is anticipated through the afternoon racing hours, which should allow the main track to remain at or near fast.

The track has been working off recent summer heat and any overnight moisture should have evaporated well before first post. Conditions are expected to be consistent throughout the card, with no weather-related disruptions anticipated. Bettors can approach today's card expecting a conventional fast dirt surface.

Finger Lakes has been playing to its standard summer profile in recent weeks — a relatively straightforward main track that tends to reward horses who can settle comfortably in mid-pack and then sustain their runs through the stretch. There is no weather event on the immediate horizon that would significantly alter surface characteristics.

TRACK BIAS AND POST POSITION ANALYSIS

Finger Lakes is a one-mile oval with a relatively short stretch run compared to major tracks. This configuration tends to reward horses that can secure a position near the inside early and save ground. On fast, dry summer surfaces at the Finger Lakes main track, speed has historically been a potent weapon, particularly in sprints. Horses that can secure the rail or a stalking position just off the pace generally enjoy an advantage in six-furlong events.

In route races at Finger Lakes, the bias tends to shift slightly toward horses that can sit off an honest pace and make one sustained run. The short stretch limits late closers who need a genuine strong pace scenario to do their best work. Post positions 1 through 4 carry a modest advantage in sprints when the track is fast, as horses can secure the rail without burning extra energy.

In the longer route races on today's card — Races 3, 4, 6, and 8 — the inside posts are useful but not decisive, particularly at distances of 1 and 1/16 miles where there is more time to navigate. For today's card, pace control in sprints will be at a premium, and any horse that can set or press honest fractions from the front deserves extra consideration.

Post position 1 in the main track sprints has shown a solid win percentage at this meet, so horses drawing inside in Races 1, 2, 5, and 7 deserve a bump in evaluation. That said, a horse breaking from post 1 in a large field can get into traffic problems early, particularly in the 11-horse field in Race 5.

RACE 1 — Post (12:55)/11:55/10:55/9:55 — 1320f | D | C | Clm 11000n2l | BUN | Purse $17,500

Six furlongs on the dirt for claiming horses that have not won two lifetime races. This is a relatively short field of six, which should mean a clean trip for most competitors. The $11,000 claiming tag combined with the n2l condition places this squarely in the lower-middle claiming tier at Finger Lakes.

Race 1

Pace Analysis

With co-morning line favorites Trew Violence (1) and Mr. Sugar Daddy (5) both at 2-1, the pace scenario becomes critical. The key question is which horse wants to lead and whether they'll be challenged into honest fractions. Ride Share (4) at 5-1 and Connect The Brocks (3) at 6-1 could also factor into the early pace depending on their running styles. If Trew Violence (1) and Mr. Sugar Daddy (5) both press early, the race could set up for a closer, but in a six-horse field on a speed-favoring track, the pace is likely to be controlled and moderate, benefiting the front-end runners.

Key Contenders

Trew Violence (1) draws the rail and is trained by John A. Grabowski, one of the more consistent local barns at Finger Lakes. Luis Pena riding from the inside post is an advantage in a short six-horse field. The 2-1 morning line reflects genuine respect from the oddsmakers. Grabowski horses at this level tend to be well-prepared and know their conditions, and a n2l claimer at $11,000 suggests a horse that has been competitive without breaking through at the next level. The rail draw in a small field is a genuine plus at Finger Lakes sprints.

Mr. Sugar Daddy (5) is co-favored at 2-1 for the Paul Barrow barn, which also sends out Connect The Brocks (3) in this same race. When a trainer doubles up in a race, it is worth noting which horse gets the more favorable assignment. Mr. Sugar Daddy (5) draws post 5 in a six-horse field and has jockey O. Gomez up. Barrow has been active on today's card and knows the conditions here well. A 2-1 price on a horse from the outside half of the draw in a sprint warrants scrutiny, but the barn confidence is evident.

Secondary Choices

Probably Flattery (2) at 4-1 for trainer M. Anthony Ferraro and jockey Keiber Coa is a logical play at a competitive price. The Ferraro-Coa combination is one of the more productive partnerships at this meet, and Probably Flattery (2) draws a clean outside-the-rail post that avoids early traffic. At 4-1, this horse offers value if either of the co-favorites cancel each other out on the front end.

Ride Share (4) at 5-1 for Jonathan Buckley and Kevin Navarro represents solid middle-of-the-road value. Buckley is a capable local conditioner and Navarro is one of the meet's busiest and more effective riders. If Ride Share (4) can settle into a tracking position and find room in the stretch, the 5-1 price could be generous in a thin field.

Longshots

Connect The Brocks (3) at 6-1 is the second Barrow entry and draws post 3 with Jeremias Flores up. In a two-horse trainer entry situation, Connect The Brocks (3) is clearly the Barrow second string based on the morning line, but a 6-1 price in a six-horse field is never without merit. Flores is a capable rider and if Mr. Sugar Daddy (5) encounters trouble, Connect The Brocks (3) could capitalize.

Renew The Blue (6) at 10-1 for trainer Kathleen Mastin and jockey Jacqueline A. Davis is the longest shot in the field. The outside post in a six-horse sprint is manageable, and Davis has been riding solid races at this meet, but the 10-1 morning line reflects the horse's projected difficulty in keeping up with the top contenders at this level.

Betting Strategy

The Ferraro-Coa combination on Probably Flattery (2) at 4-1 offers the best value in this race. The co-favorites look vulnerable to each other, and in a sprint where both 2-1 shots likely want to be involved early, a 4-1 horse that can sit off the pace and pounce in the stretch is well-positioned.

Selections

Win: Probably Flattery (2) Place: Trew Violence (1) Show: Ride Share (4)

RACE 2 — Post (1:24)/12:24/11:24/10:24 — 1320f | D | M | Md 11000 | BUM | Purse $17,000

Six furlongs for maiden claimers at $11,000, fillies and mares. This is a typical bottom-level maiden claimer at Finger Lakes, featuring horses that have struggled to break their maiden in previous attempts. Fields like this require careful attention to recent form, workout patterns, and connections rather than raw class.

Race 2

Pace Analysis

She's A Goddess (1) is the 2-1 favorite from the rail, and Scarlett Queen (3) at 3-1 figures to be involved early as well. Both Bluesette (4) and Photo I D (5) are Buckley-trained entries at 4-1 and 5-1 respectively. With two Buckley horses in the race, pace dynamics could be interesting depending on which of his horses has the better early speed. Funny Forecast (6) at 4-1 rounds out a competitive upper tier. This race could develop into a two-heat scenario with early speed from the inside and a pace battle in the first half that sets up for the closer.

Key Contenders

She's A Goddess (1) is trained by M. Anthony Ferraro and ridden by Keiber Coa from the rail. The Ferraro-Coa combination that already looks sharp in Race 1 rolls directly into Race 2 from the inside post. For maiden claimers, barn confidence matters enormously, and a 2-1 morning line in a six-horse field signals that the connections believe this filly is ready to break through. The rail is a genuine advantage here in a small field sprint.

Scarlett Queen (3) at 3-1 is trained by John Grabowski with Luis Pena up. The same Grabowski-Pena tandem that represents the co-favorite in Race 1 has a short-priced runner in the maiden claimer as well. Grabowski knows how to spot horses in their correct conditions, and Scarlett Queen (3) at 3-1 deserves respect as a horse that should be competitive if fit and ready.

Secondary Choices

Funny Forecast (6) at 4-1 is trained by Charlton Baker and ridden by Andre Shivnarine Worrie. This is the lone outside post in the field that draws real interest from handicappers. Baker is not a volume trainer at Finger Lakes, which means when his horses show up on the morning line at 4-1, it is worth investigating whether this represents a ready horse dropping into its ideal spot. Funny Forecast (6) at 4-1 offers value if the two favorites fade.

Bluesette (4) at 4-1 is the first of the two Buckley entries. When a trainer saddles two horses in the same maiden claimer, the first-string/second-string dynamic matters. Bluesette (4) at 4-1 and Photo I D (5) at 5-1 suggest Bluesette (4) has a slight edge in barn confidence. Joel Cruz is up on Bluesette (4), while Navarro takes Photo I D (5), which is a slight edge to Bluesette (4) in terms of jockey assignment.

Longshots

Photo I D (5) at 5-1 is the second Buckley entry. Having Navarro in the irons is a positive, but the 5-1 morning line behind Bluesette (4) suggests Buckley views this as the second option. In maiden claiming races, second-string barn runners can and do win, so Photo I D (5) deserves mention as a live longshot if Bluesette (4) encounters trouble.

Pippa's Song (2) at 8-1 is trained by Katlynn Gutterson with Jacqueline A. Davis up. An 8-1 morning line in a six-horse field suggests the connections are hoping for improvement rather than expecting a dominant performance. Pippa's Song (2) draws post 2 but will need more than post position to compete at this price.

Betting Strategy

She's A Goddess (1) and Scarlett Queen (3) appear to be the two most logical plays based on barn confidence and jockey assignments. Funny Forecast (6) at 4-1 offers the best alternative value if you want to go against the chalk. In a maiden claimer, exacta play using She's A Goddess (1) on top with Scarlett Queen (3) and Funny Forecast (6) underneath, while also reversing She's A Goddess (1) and Scarlett Queen (3), is the most efficient approach.

Selections

Win: She's A Goddess (1) Place: Scarlett Queen (3) Show: Funny Forecast (6)

RACE 3 — Post (1:53)/12:53/11:53/10:53 — 1760f | D | C | Clm 5000n3l | BUM | Purse $13,800

One mile on the dirt for claimers that have not won three races lifetime. The $5,000 claiming tag represents the lowest claiming level on today's card and the one-mile distance adds a stamina component that separates this from the sprint-heavy early races. This is a six-horse field with a manageable structure.

Race 3

Pace Analysis

Cozee Magic (1) at 2-1 for Paul Barrow and O. Gomez is the morning line favorite and draws the rail at one mile. At this distance, the rail is even more valuable than in sprints, as horses can save ground through two turns. Fashionable Kitty (2) at 3-1 projects as the main challenger. Esther's Salad (4) at 4-1 and Jessica's Race (5) at 4-1 — the second Barrow entry — are both at identical prices. With Cozee Magic (1) and Jessica's Race (5) both from the Barrow barn, watch for pace complications if both horses have similar running styles.

Key Contenders

Cozee Magic (1) at 2-1 from the rail with Gomez up is the clear top selection here. Barrow's knowledge of the track and confidence in entering two horses at the same level suggests Cozee Magic (1) is the better of the pair based on the morning line pricing. At one mile in a n3l claimer at $5,000, rail position is a significant asset, and a 2-1 favorite at this level with a capable rider represents the most straightforward play on the card thus far.

Fashionable Kitty (2) at 3-1 is trained by Ralph D'Alessandro with J.M. Rohena up. This is a horse that offers slightly more value than the favorite and is close enough in the morning line to suggest genuine competitiveness. D'Alessandro is a local trainer who understands the conditions at Finger Lakes, and Fashionable Kitty (2) draws post 2 — almost as good as the rail at one mile.

Secondary Choices

Esther's Salad (4) at 4-1 for trainer Rachel Sells and jockey L.E. Perez is a player at a price. Sells is a capable trainer who tends to spot horses effectively. At 4-1 in a six-horse field, Esther's Salad (4) projects as a mid-pack type that could sweep wide in the stretch and catch tired front-runners.

Jessica's Race (5) at 4-1 is the second Barrow entry, ridden by Jeremias Flores. When Barrow's second choice is 4-1 versus 2-1 for the top horse, the barn hierarchy is clear but Jessica's Race (5) is not a throwout at double digits. If Cozee Magic (1) encounters any trouble at one mile, Jessica's Race (5) represents a hedge within the Barrow barn.

Longshots

I Am Ev (6) at 5-1 for James Acquilano and M.A. Davila Jr. draws the outside post at one mile, which is a disadvantage in a small field. The 5-1 morning line suggests the horse is competitive but not favored. Acquilano has some runners on today's card and DAVILA JR. is capable.

Tomaki (3) at 10-1 for trainer Thalia Areche and jockey Juan J. Diaz is the clear outsider in this field. A 10-1 in a six-horse field at the $5,000 claiming level is a significant underlay scenario for the horse to overcome. Pass unless a dramatic late form reversal is evident from workout reports.

Betting Strategy

Cozee Magic (1) is the most straightforward win bet on the card through the first three races. The rail at one mile, the Barrow barn confidence, and the capable Gomez make this a structured play. Pair Cozee Magic (1) with Fashionable Kitty (2) and Esther's Salad (4) in exactas for a cost-effective coverage approach.

Selections

Win: Cozee Magic (1) Place: Fashionable Kitty (2) Show: Esther's Salad (4)

RACE 4 — Post (2:22)/1:22/12:22/11:22 — 1760f | D | S | Md Sp Wt | BUM | Purse $32,600

One mile on the dirt for maiden special weight horses, the highest-value race on the card at $32,600. The presence of Kenneth McPeek-trained Lennie's Way (1) in a seven-horse maiden special weight field at Finger Lakes is a notable angle. McPeek is a prominent national trainer with major-stakes credentials, and when horses from operations of that caliber show up at Finger Lakes, they arrive for a reason.

Race 4

Pace Analysis

Hip Hop Dancer (2) at 2-1 is the morning line favorite for trainer Rafael Jose Rohena with J.M. Rohena up — a trainer-jockey family combination. Find Me A Prince (3) at 3-1 for Jonathan Buckley and Kevin Navarro is the second choice. Lennie's Way (1) at 4-1, despite the prominent trainer, is not the favorite, which suggests the connections are realistic about this horse's readiness or that the local horses have credentials that justify their shorter prices. At one mile, pace will develop through the first turn and down the backstretch, allowing stamina to play a key role. Tiz Improbable (4) at 6-1 and Serena Fly (6) at 5-1 fill out a field that could produce an honest pace if multiple horses want the lead.

Key Contenders

Hip Hop Dancer (2) is trained and likely selected by the Rohena family operation, with the trainer-jockey connection representing maximum communication between the barn and the saddle. A 2-1 morning line in a seven-horse maiden special weight field at one mile commands respect. The family connection means this horse's condition and readiness are likely well-understood by the rider.

Find Me A Prince (3) at 3-1 for Buckley and Navarro is the value play among the upper tier. Buckley has been a consistent presence throughout today's card, and Find Me A Prince (3) at 3-1 is attractively priced given Navarro's effectiveness on the Finger Lakes circuit. A clean post 3 draw in a seven-horse maiden special weight at one mile sets up well for a tracking stalker.

Lennie's Way (1) at 4-1 for Kenneth McPeek and Reylu Gutierrez is the class and connections angle. McPeek's horses, when shipped to a regional track, often arrive with a purpose. The 4-1 morning line may represent overlaid value given the barn's overall quality. Gutierrez is a capable rider who will know how to position this horse at one mile.

Secondary Choices

Serena Fly (6) at 5-1 for Ronald Breed Jr. and Andre Shivnarine Worrie is an interesting middle-priced runner. At 5-1 in a maiden special weight at one mile, Serena Fly (6) offers value if the top three choices disappoint. Breed is a competitive local trainer, and Worrie has been effective throughout today's card.

Tiz Improbable (4) at 6-1 for Marvin Richards and Steven Fret draws post 4 in the middle of the field. At one mile, post 4 is workable, and a 6-1 price in a maiden special weight offers genuine value if this horse has the ability to improve off previous races.

Longshots

Tavern Talk (7) at 12-1 for Julius Ashley and Laird O. Bailey draws the outside post in a seven-horse field at one mile — a disadvantage that is reflected in the morning line. The 12-1 price makes this a potential exotic play only.

Chacha Millie (5) at 15-1 for Linda K. Dixon and Jacqueline A. Davis is the longest shot in the field. The 15-1 morning line in a maiden special weight is a clear signal that even the oddsmakers expect this horse to be outclassed. Include in wide exacta/trifecta exotics only.

Betting Strategy

The McPeek angle on Lennie's Way (1) at 4-1 is the most compelling overlay on the card. When a nationally prominent trainer ships to Finger Lakes for a maiden special weight, the horse is typically well-prepared. Bet Lennie's Way (1) to win and use it on top in exactas with Hip Hop Dancer (2) and Find Me A Prince (3). The trifecta box of Lennie's Way (1), Hip Hop Dancer (2), and Find Me A Prince (3) at modest cost represents the best structure for this race.

Selections

Win: Lennie's Way (1) Place: Hip Hop Dancer (2) Show: Find Me A Prince (3)

RACE 5 — Post (2:51)/1:51/12:51/11:51 — 1320f | D | C | Clm 5000n1y | BUM | Purse $14,000

Six furlongs for horses that have not won in one year. Eleven runners make this the largest field on the card and the most difficult race to handicap. The n1y condition means horses that have won previously but have gone over a year without a victory. This creates a field of horses with varying degrees of form recency and fitness.

Race 5

Pace Analysis

Dream On Cara (10) at 3-1 is the morning line favorite, followed by Only In My Dreams (4) at 4-1 and Bad Connection (11) at 6-1. In an eleven-horse field at six furlongs, the early pace is likely to be contentious with multiple horses potentially looking for the front. Gate position matters enormously in large sprint fields at Finger Lakes, and the outside posts — particularly 8 through 11 — are at a significant disadvantage in a sprint where the leaders can secure the rail before the first turn. Practical Rachel (6) at 8-1 and Numeric (9) at 8-1 are middle-priced alternatives that deserve consideration.

Key Contenders

Dream On Cara (10) at 3-1 for trainer Dana Saul and jockey Jose Baez is the morning line favorite despite drawing post 10. Saul has another entry in this race in Mercilesanihilator (4) in Race 6, suggesting an active day for the barn. The fact that Dream On Cara (10) is the favorite at 3-1 from post 10 in a sprint is notable — it suggests the horse's form figures are significantly better than the competition, enough to overcome the post position disadvantage. Baez is a competent pilot who can navigate traffic from the outside.

Only In My Dreams (4) for David Oyola and Joel Cruz is a 4-1 chance from a perfect post 4 draw. Oyola also saddles Diva Banker (8) in this race, making this another trainer double-up. At 4-1 from post 4 in an 11-horse sprint, Only In My Dreams (4) has a significant positional advantage over the morning line favorite. Cruz is riding regularly and effectively on the Finger Lakes circuit.

Bad Connection (11) at 6-1 for Luis A. Gutierrez and John C. Berrios draws the rail in an 11-horse sprint — post 11 is the outside in an 11-horse field, not the rail. From post 11, Bad Connection (11) faces the worst post position challenge in the race. The 6-1 morning line may actually underestimate the post position penalty in a large sprint field.

Secondary Choices

Practical Rachel (6) at 8-1 for Ilmar Loaiza and Jose Ventura draws post 6 — a workable middle position in an 11-horse sprint. At 8-1, this represents genuine value if the horse can secure a comfortable early position. Ventura is a reliable rider who can manage large fields effectively.

Numeric (9) at 8-1 for Jose Merced and M.A. Davila Jr. is similarly priced but draws post 9 in the outer half of the field. In a sprint, post 9 is difficult unless the horse has strong gate speed to compensate. DAVILA JR. is capable but faces a challenge from the outside.

Troubled Luck (1) at 5-1 for Michael Ferraro and L.E. Perez draws the rail from post 1. In an 11-horse sprint, post 1 is both an advantage and a risk — the horse gets the shortest trip but can be squeezed at the break. At 5-1 from the rail, Troubled Luck (1) deserves inclusion in all exotic plays.

Longshots

Diva Banker (8) at 10-1 is Oyola's second entry, ridden by Navarro. The better Oyola horse based on morning line is Only In My Dreams (4), but NAVARRO riding Diva Banker (8) is an upgrade in rider quality from post 8. Include Diva Banker (8) in trifecta and superfecta plays as a deep saver.

In Traffic (5) at 20-1 for David Rivera and Emanuel De Diego, Tumbles (2) at 20-1 for Julius Ashley and Laird Bailey, Roshiell My Belle (3) at 20-1 for Aadil S. Khan and Steven Fret, and Jackson Avenue (7) at 20-1 for Ronald Breed Jr. and O. Gomez are all at the bottom of the morning line. In an 11-horse field with multiple 20-1 shots, the race is wide open in theory, but the 20-1 morning lines reflect genuine limitations in recent form figures for these runners. Use selectively in superfecta plays to keep ticket costs manageable.

Betting Strategy

This is the most challenging race on the card. The most rational approach is to key Only In My Dreams (4) on top — the best post position among the upper contenders — with Dream On Cara (10), Troubled Luck (1), and Practical Rachel (6) underneath in exactas. For trifectas, use Only In My Dreams (4) and Dream On Cara (10) on top with a spread of four horses below. The large field creates potential for an upset, so keeping tickets manageable is important.

Selections

Win: Only In My Dreams (4) Place: Dream On Cara (10) Show: Troubled Luck (1)

RACE 6 — Post (3:20)/2:20/1:20/12:20 — 1760f | D | C | Clm 11000n3l | BUN | Purse $17,800

One mile on the dirt for non-winners of three lifetime races at the $11,000 claiming level. A competitive seven-horse field with a clear favorite in Ava's Uncle Billy (6) at 2-1.

Race 6

Pace Analysis

Ava's Uncle Billy (6) is the 2-1 favorite for Chris Englehart, and Stjames (2) at 3-1 is the main challenger. At one mile, pace will be set through the first turn, and the question is whether Stjames (2) has the early speed to press the pace or whether Ava's Uncle Billy (6) can control the race from the front. Mercilesanihilator (4) at 4-1 for Dana Saul and Jose Baez is another likely factor. Prophetic (7) at 4-1 for Buckley and Navarro rounds out the upper tier. John The Baptist (1) at 20-1 will likely set early fractions before fading. This race has the structure of a genuine pace battle through the first half-mile.

Key Contenders

Ava's Uncle Billy (6) at 2-1 for Chris Englehart and Andre Shivnarine Worrie is the most straightforward top selection of the day. A 2-1 morning line chalk at one mile in a n3l claimer at $11,000, with Englehart — one of the more capable local trainers — sending out this horse with a strong rider. The post 6 draw in a seven-horse field at one mile is workable, and Worrie has been productive on this card.

Stjames (2) at 3-1 for Rachel Sells and Jeremias Flores is the primary danger to Ava's Uncle Billy (6). Post 2 is a genuine asset at one mile, and Sells has shown the ability to spot horses effectively in claiming conditions. FLORES has been riding with purpose on the card. At 3-1 with post 2, Stjames (2) represents the strongest value play in this race.

Secondary Choices

Mercilesanihilator (4) at 4-1 for Dana Saul and Jose Baez is a player at this price. Saul also has Dream On Cara (10) in Race 5, suggesting an active afternoon for the barn. BAEZ is an effective rider on the Finger Lakes circuit. Post 4 in a seven-horse field at one mile is solid, and 4-1 is an attractive price if this horse has been freshening properly.

Prophetic (7) at 4-1 for Jonathan Buckley and Kevin Navarro is the Buckley representative in Race 6. The Buckley-Navarro combination has been well-represented throughout today's card. Drawing post 7 in a seven-horse field at one mile is the worst post in the race, but NAVARRO'S ability to find a comfortable early position can compensate. At 4-1, this is worth including in exotics.

Longshots

Evanderkeen (3) at 5-1 for Troy Smith and Reylu Gutierrez draws post 3 at one mile — a fine position. At 5-1, Evanderkeen (3) is the interesting middle-tier runner in this field. Smith is a local trainer who occasionally has a runner pop at a price, and Gutierrez on the mount adds jockey quality.

Bolt To Run (5) at 8-1 for Ramon Vasquez and Keiber Coa is a significant price given the quality of jockey in the irons. When Coa, who has been riding well throughout the card, accepts an 8-1 mount, it is worth a second look. Bolt To Run (5) from post 5 has a manageable draw.

John The Baptist (1) at 20-1 for Angel Montanez Jr. and John C. Berrios draws the rail but carries a 20-1 morning line that reflects a horse well below par for this field. Use as a minimal saver in superfectas only.

Betting Strategy

Ava's Uncle Billy (6) is a legitimate chalk but the 2-1 price limits win bet value. The best play is an exacta key using Stjames (2) and Ava's Uncle Billy (6) over each other with Mercilesanihilator (4) and Prophetic (7) as secondary legs. A trifecta wheel with Stjames (2) and Ava's Uncle Billy (6) on top and the field below represents excellent coverage at a reasonable cost.

Selections

Win: Ava's Uncle Billy (6) Place: Stjames (2) Show: Mercilesanihilator (4)

RACE 7 — Post (3:49)/2:49/1:49/12:49 — 1320f | D | A | Alw 26500n2l | BUN | Purse $26,500

The feature race of the day — a six-furlong allowance for non-winners of two lifetime races. The $26,500 purse and allowance conditions attract what should be the highest-quality runners on the card, and the Finger Lakes version of allowance company represents genuine class. Six runners make for a manageable field.

Race 7

Pace Analysis

Skytown (4) at 2-1 is the morning line favorite for Ronald Breed Jr. and Jacqueline A. Davis. Rockinmoney (6) at 3-1 and Mission Critical (2) and Arch's Assault (3) at 4-1 each create a competitive upper tier. At six furlongs in allowance company, pace will be honest — this is the best class on the card and horses at this level tend to run with purpose. If multiple horses from the top tier have front-running preferences, the pace could be fast, setting up for a closer. The key is identifying who controls the early fractions.

Key Contenders

Skytown (4) at 2-1 for Ronald Breed Jr. and Jacqueline A. Davis is the 2-1 morning line choice in the feature. Davis has been riding well throughout the card, and Skytown (4) from post 4 in a six-horse sprint is well-positioned. Breed's barn has been active today with Serena Fly (6) in Race 4 and Jackson Avenue (7) in Race 5.

Rockinmoney (6) at 3-1 for M. Anthony Ferraro and Keiber Coa is the most compelling value play in the feature. The Ferraro-Coa partnership, which has already been prominent on today's card with She's A Goddess (1) in Race 2, takes the highest-priced mount in the feature allowance. Coa from post 6 at six furlongs faces a slight post position challenge, but in a six-horse field, this is manageable. The 3-1 price on a Ferraro-Coa combination in the feature represents clear value.

Secondary Choices

Mission Critical (2) at 4-1 for Jeremiah C. Englehart and Andre Shivnarine Worrie is from a different Englehart barn than Chris Englehart who trains Ava's Uncle Billy (6) in Race 6. Jeremiah Englehart is a high-percentage trainer, and Mission Critical (2) at 4-1 from post 2 draws a favorable second post inside on a speed-favoring track. Worrie has been one of the more productive riders through the card.

Arch's Assault (3) at 4-1 for Paul Barrow and Reylu Gutierrez is another Barrow entry — the trainer has been sending out runners throughout the card with success. Arch's Assault (3) at 4-1 from post 3 draws another solid inside position. Gutierrez on the mount is a capable rider who has worked the Finger Lakes circuit effectively.

Longshots

Speedstre (1) at 5-1 for M. Anthony Ferraro and Joel Cruz is the second Ferraro entry in the feature, creating an interesting barn dynamic. The morning line places Rockinmoney (6) as the preferred Ferraro runner at 3-1 versus Speedstre (1) at 5-1. However, Speedstre (1) draws the rail in a six-horse sprint, which is a significant physical advantage that partially compensates for the lower barn preference. At 5-1 from the rail, this is a genuine longshot play.

Pandemic Hero (5) at 6-1 for Jose L. Jimenez and Kevin Navarro is the longest price in the feature field. Navarro aboard is always a positive, and Pandemic Hero (5) at 6-1 in the allowance feature represents genuine overlay value if this horse has been improving quietly. At 6-1 in a six-horse allowance, include in all trifecta structures as a saver.

Betting Strategy

The Ferraro-Coa combination on Rockinmoney (6) at 3-1 is the best value play in the feature. Pair Rockinmoney (6) on top with Skytown (4) and Mission Critical (2) in exactas. The trifecta key of Rockinmoney (6) on top over Skytown (4) and Mission Critical (2) with Arch's Assault (3) and Speedstre (1) filling out the third position represents the best coverage structure.

Selections

Win: Rockinmoney (6) Place: Skytown (4) Show: Mission Critical (2)

RACE 8 — Post (4:18)/3:18/2:18/1:18 — 1830f | D | C | Clm 5000b | BUN | Purse $14,000

The card closes with a 1 and 1/16-mile claiming race at $5,000 for horses entered to be claimed. Seven horses compete in this bottom-level claiming marathon. At this distance and class level, fitness and the ability to carry speed two turns are paramount. The “b” designation indicates horses entered at the claiming price without restrictions.

Race 8

Pace Analysis

Catch The Smoke (4) at 2-1 is the clear morning line favorite for Robert N. Falcone Jr. and Reylu Gutierrez. O P Firecracker (7) at 3-1 is the primary challenger for James Acquilano and M.A. Davila Jr. At 1 and 1/16 miles in the nightcap, pace is everything. Mad Magic (2) at 5-1 and Ice Time (5) at 4-1 round out the logical contenders. A 20-1 shot, Sox For Daughters (1) at 10-1, and Centavo (3) at 6-1 and Retail Man (6) at 12-1 complete the field.

Key Contenders

Catch The Smoke (4) at 2-1 for Robert Falcone Jr. and Reylu Gutierrez is the morning line chalk and draws post 4 — a solid central position at 1 and 1/16 miles. Falcone is a capable claiming trainer who knows how to have horses ready in their spot, and GUTIERREZ has been effective throughout today's card. A 2-1 price on the day's closer is always worth scrutiny, but the morning line reflects genuine confidence in this horse's ability at this level and distance.

O P Firecracker (7) at 3-1 for James Acquilano and M.A. Davila Jr. is the primary threat. Acquilano also trained I Am Ev (6) in Race 3, making this another active barn day. The outside post 7 at 1 and 1/16 miles is a disadvantage but manageable with a strong early kick. At 3-1, O P Firecracker (7) is attractively priced as an alternative to the chalk.

Secondary Choices

Ice Time (5) at 4-1 for Chris Englehart and J.M. Rohena is a strong play at the price. Chris Englehart saddled Ava's Uncle Billy (6) in Race 6 and has been a productive trainer on today's card. Ice Time (5) at 4-1 from post 5 draws a workable middle position. Rohena is a capable rider who can manage the distance effectively.

Mad Magic (2) at 5-1 for Michael Ferraro and L.E. Perez offers value in the exacta structure. Post 2 at one mile-plus is excellent, and Ferraro-Perez is a productive combination on the Finger Lakes circuit. At 5-1, Mad Magic (2) represents the best value among the secondary tier.

Longshots

Centavo (3) at 6-1 for Lisa A. Reed and Andre Shivnarine Worrie is an interesting play at this price. Worrie has ridden multiple races effectively today and Centavo (3) at 6-1 from post 3 has a good draw. Reed is a local trainer who occasionally produces a sharp performance at a price.

Retail Man (6) at 12-1 for Matthew Clarke and O. Gomez is a significant longshot at 1 and 1/16 miles. Gomez has had a productive card today with Cozee Magic (1) in Race 3 and Arch's Assault (3) in Race 7. At 12-1, Retail Man (6) is an exotic saver only.

Sox For Daughters (1) at 10-1 for Jacqueline Falk and Russell C draws the rail in the nightcap. The rail at 1 and 1/16 miles is valuable, but the 10-1 morning line reflects limited recent form. Include as a minimal exotic play.

Betting Strategy

Catch The Smoke (4) is the most logical win bet in the nightcap. The 2-1 price is short but the morning line chalk at this level with Gutierrez up is a sound way to close the card. Exacta key: Catch The Smoke (4) over O P Firecracker (7), Ice Time (5), and Mad Magic (2). For the trifecta, wheel Catch The Smoke (4) and O P Firecracker (7) on top over a spread of four horses.

Selections

Win: Catch The Smoke (4) Place: O P Firecracker (7) Show: Ice Time (5)

JOCKEY NOTES AND INSIGHTS

Keiber Coa is the jockey to follow throughout the card. He has live mounts in races 1, 2, 5 in Race 6 with Bolt To Run (5), and the feature with Rockinmoney (6). The Ferraro-Coa partnership — M. Anthony Ferraro specifically — is the most consistently productive trainer-jockey connection at this meet. When Coa and M. Anthony Ferraro combine in a race, the bet is typically sound. Today that combination surfaces most prominently in the feature with Rockinmoney (6) at 3-1, which represents the single best trainer-jockey value play on the card.

Kevin Navarro is the other rider to watch. He rides for Jonathan Buckley throughout the card, a pairing that produces consistent results at Finger Lakes. Navarro has mounts in Races 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7, giving him one of the heaviest workloads of the afternoon. His best opportunities may come aboard Find Me A Prince (3) in Race 4 and Pandemic Hero (5) in Race 7.

Jacqueline A. Davis has been building a solid book of business at this meet, including the feature favorite Skytown (4) in Race 7. Davis also rides Pippa's Song (2) in Race 2, Chacha Millie (5) in Race 4, and Renew The Blue (6) in Race 1. The feature mount on Skytown (4) is clearly her marquee ride of the day and represents the most confidence the connections have shown in booking her.

Reylu Gutierrez rides across the card including Lennie's Way (1) in Race 4 for McPeek, Arch's Assault (3) in Race 7, Evanderkeen (3) in Race 6, and Catch The Smoke (4) in Race 8. Gutierrez has a strong opportunity in Race 8 aboard the morning line favorite, and the McPeek mount in Race 4 is a significant engagement for a Finger Lakes-based rider.

Andre Shivnarine Worrie has a productive book including Funny Forecast (6) in Race 2, Serena Fly (6) in Race 4, Ava's Uncle Billy (6) in Race 6, Mission Critical (2) in Race 7, and Centavo (3) in Race 8. Worrie's best opportunity may be aboard Ava's Uncle Billy (6) in Race 6, where the morning line 2-1 chalk represents a solid chance to register a quality win.

O. Gomez rides for Paul Barrow throughout the card — Cozee Magic (1) in Race 3 and Mr. Sugar Daddy (5) in Race 1 — and also picks up Arch's Assault (3) in Race 7 through Barrow, and Jackson Avenue (7) in Race 5 and Retail Man (6) in Race 8. The most significant Gomez opportunity is Cozee Magic (1) in Race 3, where the rail post at one mile and Barrow's barn confidence create a straightforward win scenario.

TRAINER NOTES AND INSIGHTS

Paul Barrow is the busiest trainer on the card with runners in Races 1, 3, 5, and 7. His double entries in Race 1 — Connect The Brocks (3) and Mr. Sugar Daddy (5) — and Race 3 — Cozee Magic (1) and Jessica's Race (5) — create interesting intra-barn dynamics. In both cases, Barrow has assigned the better jockey (Gomez over Flores) to what appears to be the stronger horse. When a trainer doubles up with the same-quality jockey assignment pattern, the top horse (better jockey) typically represents the primary play.

Jonathan Buckley also saddles multiple horses throughout the card. His Finger Lakes operation is consistently competitive, and the Buckley-Navarro combination has been one of the meet's most effective pairings. Buckley has horses in Races 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6, with his best opportunity perhaps coming in Race 4's maiden special weight with Find Me A Prince (3).

Kenneth McPeek's presence in Race 4 with Lennie's Way (1) is the most significant outside trainer angle on the card. McPeek is a Graded-stakes trainer who operates throughout North America, and when horses from his operation show up at regional tracks in maiden special weights, the horse typically has credentials that justify attention. Gutierrez has the mount and will be motivated to deliver a strong performance for a high-profile barn.

M. Anthony Ferraro is having an active card with Probably Flattery (2) in Race 1, She's A Goddess (1) in Race 2, Speedstre (1) and Rockinmoney (6) in the Race 7 feature. Ferraro consistently uses Coa as his primary pilot, and today the best Ferraro-Coa opportunity is Rockinmoney (6) in the feature at 3-1.

Chris Englehart has Ava's Uncle Billy (6) in Race 6 and Ice Time (5) in Race 8. Both horses are appropriately priced and Englehart's horses tend to be fit when they appear. His Race 6 morning line favorite is the strongest chalk on the card outside of Race 8.

Dana Saul saddles Dream On Cara (10) in Race 5 and Mercilesanihilator (4) in Race 6, making this an active afternoon for the barn. In both cases, Saul has capable riders — Baez aboard both horses — and the Race 5 morning line favorite Dream On Cara (10) represents the barn's best chance for a key win.

BEST WAGERING STRATEGIES AND VALUE PLAYS

The single most compelling value play on today's card is Rockinmoney (6) at 3-1 in Race 7 for the Ferraro-Coa combination. In the feature allowance, the barn's best horse is priced at 3-1 despite carrying the meet's most productive trainer-jockey tandem. This is the strongest win bet on the card.

The McPeek angle on Lennie's Way (1) at 4-1 in Race 4 is a genuine overlay situation. A nationally prominent trainer shipping to Finger Lakes for a maiden special weight typically means the horse is well-prepared. At 4-1, the price reflects some local skepticism that creates a value opportunity.

For exotic wagering, the Pick 5 spanning Races 4 through 8 is the most viable multi-race sequence to attack. The structure would be:

Race 4: Lennie's Way (1), Hip Hop Dancer (2), Find Me A Prince (3) Race 5: Only In My Dreams (4), Dream On Cara (10), Troubled Luck (1) Race 6: Ava's Uncle Billy (6), Stjames (2) Race 7: Rockinmoney (6), Skytown (4), Mission Critical (2) Race 8: Catch The Smoke (4), O P Firecracker (7)

A 3x3x2x3x2 ticket structure generates 108 combinations. At a $0.50 base, this ticket costs $54 — a manageable investment for what is a five-race sequence with multiple live horses at competitive prices.

For daily doubles, the most attractive single-race double on the card is the Race 7/Race 8 combination. Rockinmoney (6) over Catch The Smoke (4) is a straight daily double with two morning line figures well-positioned, and the total potential return at 3-1 and 2-1 creates a meaningful payout on a modest investment.

The Race 3 and Race 6 exacta plays are the most structured individual race wagers on the card. In Race 3, keying Cozee Magic (1) over Fashionable Kitty (2) and Esther's Salad (4) represents a tight, cost-effective two-horse spread. In Race 6, the Stjames (2) and Ava's Uncle Billy (6) box plus Mercilesanihilator (4) underneath is a three-horse trifecta structure that captures the upper tier at a reasonable cost.

The most important overlay angle of the entire card remains the Ferraro-Coa feature play. In a card this modest, the strongest trainer-jockey combination in the feature at 3-1 is the kind of value that serious bettors circle days in advance. Rockinmoney (6) is the card's best win bet, and building the Pick 4 from Race 5 through Race 8 with this horse as a key in Race 7 represents the most aggressive but defensible investment strategy on today's Finger Lakes program.
