Race Day Overview — Gulfstream Park, April 18, 2026

Gulfstream Park closes out another strong spring Saturday card with nine claiming and allowance events bracketing a pair of maiden special weight races and a $75,000 handicap finale. The nine-race afternoon features a healthy mix of turf and dirt action, with the turf course carrying added weight given recent rainfall patterns along the South Florida coast. The card opens at 12:50 PM ET and runs through the evening with the closing $68,000 maiden special weight on the turf at 6:12 PM.

From a national context, the Keeneland spring meet is in full swing, with the Grade II Baird Doubledogdare Stakes drawing attention on the same afternoon. Locally, the Gulfstream spring meeting is winding toward its conclusion, meaning trainer patterns are shifting as barns prepare to ship north or pivot toward Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby undercard. That transitional dynamic matters at the claiming and allowance levels — some horses are being freshened for new meets while others are being strategically placed for one final score before a layoff.

The $75,000 Handicap in Race 10 is the marquee event of the day, a nine-horse, one-mile dirt affair for older horses that draws several consistent performers with Saffie Joseph Jr. firing two shots at the pot. Race 7 and Race 11, both maiden special weight events, carry $68,000 purses and will command significant exotic wagering attention given the quality of connections involved — Todd Pletcher and Brad Cox in Race 7, and Mark Casse, Jeff Engler, and Pletcher again in Race 11.

The turf races — Races 1, 6, 8, and 11 — will need monitoring for any late course changes, though current conditions suggest the Gulfstream turf is racing firm to good.

Weather and Track Conditions — April 18, 2026

South Florida is tracking partly cloudy skies on Saturday with temperatures in the low-to-mid 80s and humidity running high, typical of mid-April in the region. Winds are forecast out of the southeast at 10-15 mph, which generally has minimal effect on Gulfstream's main track configuration but can create slight headwind scenarios on the backstretch.

The main track at Gulfstream has been rated fast in recent days following a period of light showers earlier in the week. Track maintenance crews worked the surface Thursday and Friday, and the main track is expected to be labeled fast at first post. There are no significant precipitation events forecast for Saturday, and the surface should remain consistent throughout the card.

The Gulfstream turf course has been rated firm in recent days. Given the earlier-week moisture and the firm rating currently in place, the turf is playing true — horses with established good-to-firm turf form are getting appropriate credit. No course change is anticipated, and all four turf races are expected to go over a firm surface. Horses with exclusively soft or yielding turf form deserve a slight downgrade.

Track Bias and Post Position Analysis

Gulfstream Park's main track has shown a moderate inside bias in recent weeks at sprint distances, with horses breaking from posts one through four enjoying a measurable advantage in races up to seven furlongs. At route distances on the dirt, the bias softens considerably and pace becomes the dominant factor, with stalkers and closers getting more opportunities as the field strings out around two turns.

On the turf course, the Gulfstream inner turf has historically been rail-friendly in the early portion of the meet, but as the rail is moved and the course gets cut up, inside posts become slightly less advantageous. With the firm rating and a course that has seen considerable traffic, the rail strip is likely to be avoided by jockeys who prefer to angle off the fence and find cleaner ground in the three-path. Middle posts (three through six) in turf routes are presenting the most favorable running patterns this week based on recent results.

For sprint races on the dirt — particularly the six-furlong and six-and-a-half-furlong events — horses breaking from the one-hole through the four-hole are converting at a higher rate, and any horse with early pace from those posts deserves extra attention. In the mile events on dirt, the two-turn configuration at Gulfstream makes the inside posts workable only if the horse is tractable enough to avoid early traffic on the clubhouse turn.

Post position bias in the 11-furlong turf routes (Races 1, 6, and 8) favors midfield posts with the ability to track the pace and pounce on the second turn. Extreme outside posts in these fields — beyond seven in races with nine or fewer starters — typically require a pace meltdown to succeed.

RACE 1 — Post (12:50)/11:50/10:50/9:50 — 1870f | T | C | Clm 17500b | BUM | Purse $33,000

This is a one-mile-and-three-sixteenths turf claimer for fillies and mares, claiming price $17,500, with a purse of $33,000. The nine-horse field is populated primarily with older claiming-level turf runners who have been plying their trade at Gulfstream all winter. The “b” designation indicates horses may be claimed for the base price, making this a live claiming scenario where trainer intentions will bear watching in the paddock.

Race 1

Pace Analysis

Reading Time (POST 5) and Americandreammaker (POST 3) both project as the likely pace-setters based on their running styles, with Reading Time (POST 5) holding the edge in early speed ratings. The distance is nearly a mile and three-sixteenths on turf — a grind that typically favors horses that rate in mid-pack and have stamina. A moderate pace scenario seems likely given the field composition, which plays into the hands of stalkers and closers with turf pedigrees built for the distance.

Key Contenders

Reading Time (POST 5) is the morning line favorite at 2-1 and draws the call of Diego Herrera for the Joseph Orseno barn. Orseno is a solid conditioner at Gulfstream with a reliable stable and Reading Time (POST 5) has been consistent in this class range. The horse's recent works and form suggest she's ready to go on this surface at this distance, and the 2-1 morning line reflects her standing as the clear choice among handicappers.

Americandreammaker (POST 3) exits the Hemingway barn and drew the services of Samy Camacho, who has been riding well at the Gulfstream spring meet. At 4-1 on the morning line, Americandreammaker (POST 3) offers some value if she can establish position early and control her own pace. The post three draw is workable on the turf at this distance, giving Camacho the option to slot in behind the speed or push for the front end.

Ready To Battle (POST 2) is the 3-1 second choice on the morning line for the Mark Casse barn, with Miguel Angel Vasquez in the irons. Casse is always dangerous at this level, and Vasquez is one of the top riders on the Gulfstream circuit. Post two on the turf at this distance is favorable, and if Ready To Battle (POST 2) has been pointed at this spot, the connections know how to deliver.

Secondary Choices

Magnetic Beach (POST 8) is a stablemate of Reading Time (POST 5), also trained by Joseph Orseno, and goes at 6-1. The Orseno double-entry provides interesting dynamics — if the barn loads up on one, the other may be used as a pace tool. J. Bravo picks up the mount on Magnetic Beach (POST 8), and Bravo is always a reliable hand on the turf at Gulfstream. From the eight post in a field this size on turf, Magnetic Beach (POST 8) will need a clean break to find a ground-saving position.

Game Changer Jolie (POST 9) is listed at 8-1 for the Happy Alter barn with Yolber Torres aboard. Torres has been one of the busier and more effective riders at the meet, and closers from the outside post in turf routes at this distance can sometimes get a perfect stalking trip. Worth watching in the exacta.

Longshots

Wudhooh (POST 1) is the 10-1 morning line outsider for trainer Elizabeth Dobles, drawing post one with Jose Morelos up. The inside post on the turf suits a speed horse, and if Wudhooh (POST 1) can get to the lead cleanly, she could wire the field at a price. Dobles has had some live longshots at Gulfstream this meet and the post is an asset.

Annie Goodbody (POST 4) goes at 10-1 for Armando De La Cerda with Eric Cancel. Cancel is one of the better riders at the meet, and if Annie Goodbody (POST 4) has shown anything in recent works or in the paddock, the 10-1 could be exploitable.

What A Knockout (POST 6) is 15-1 for Andrea Puckett with Edgar Perez, and represents a longer price that would need a significant pace collapse to factor.

Seekingbythestorm (POST 7) is the longest shot on the board at 30-1 for Amparo Lizardi and Kleiner Mejias, and is difficult to use in any exotic capacity at this price and with this trainer.

Selections

Win: Reading Time (POST 5) Place: Ready To Battle (POST 2) Show: Americandreammaker (POST 3)

Betting Strategy: The Orseno double-entry complicates the win pool. Back Reading Time (POST 5) straight while playing exactas with Ready To Battle (POST 2) and Americandreammaker (POST 3) underneath. If Wudhooh (POST 1) shows speed in the paddock, small saver on the longshot exacta Reading Time (POST 5) over Wudhooh (POST 1) at a possible overlay.

RACE 2 — Post (1:22)/12:22/11:22/10:22 — 1830f | D | M | Md 12500 | BUN | Purse $28,500

A six-furlong maiden claiming race for $12,500 on the main track, restricted to non-winners. Eight horses entered for a purse of $28,500. This is the lowest-claiming tier on the card — horses competing here have repeatedly failed to break their maiden at every level above this price, and the field is predictably inconsistent. Pace will be a key factor as multiple horses in this field have shown early speed.

Race 2

Pace Analysis

Swamp Fox (POST 2) and Globecrest (POST 6) both carry 2-1 morning line odds, suggesting the market sees this as a two-horse race. Both horses project as potential pace-setters or pressers, and a contested early pace could set things up for a closer. Wine Money (POST 7) from the Gargan barn and Smooth An Easy (POST 3) both figure to be racing closer to the pace as well, creating a scenario where fractions could be fast enough to compromise the front-runners.

Key Contenders

Swamp Fox (POST 2) breaks from the rail for trainer Philip Antonacci with Samy Camacho riding. The two-hole on the Gulfstream dirt at six furlongs is workable, and Swamp Fox (POST 2) drawing Camacho is a positive. At 2-1 co-favorite, the market clearly respects this horse's chances.

Globecrest (POST 6) is the other 2-1 shot, trained by Mark Casse and ridden by Miguel Angel Vasquez. Casse rarely shows up at the maiden claiming level without intent, and Vasquez is as reliable as it gets. The post six is slightly wide for a sprint but Vasquez is adept at saving ground around the turn.

Secondary Choices

Smooth An Easy (POST 3) is 5-1 for trainer Douglas Seyler with Yolber Torres. The three post gives Torres the option to stalk from a good position, and at 5-1, Smooth An Easy (POST 3) offers genuine value if either of the co-favorites fails to run up to morning line billing.

My Foolish Notion (POST 5) is 6-1 for Herbert Miller with Jonathan Ocasio aboard. Maiden claimers at this level are unpredictable and My Foolish Notion (POST 5) could emerge as a live contender if she can find early position.

Longshots

Wine Money (POST 7) is trained by Danny Gargan and ridden by Micah Husbands at 10-1. The Gargan barn often enters horses spotted well, and Wine Money (POST 7) is worth a look underneath in the exotics.

One Bid (POST 1) is 20-1 for Timothy Hills with Rajiv Maragh — interesting rider angle but the price suggests limited recent form.

Uncle Zeb (POST 4) is 20-1 for Antonio Sano with Eric Cancel. Sano typically enters competitive horses, and Cancel is a reliable jockey, but the morning line suggests this horse's form doesn't merit confidence.

Secret Power (POST 8) is 20-1 for Cayetano Cadahia with Jesus Rios, and is a difficult price to commit to in a maiden claiming event at this level.

Selections

Win: Globecrest (POST 6) Place: Swamp Fox (POST 2) Show: Smooth An Easy (POST 3)

Betting Strategy: The Casse/Vasquez combination on Globecrest (POST 6) represents the most reliable angle in this race. Play Globecrest (POST 6) to win and key it over Swamp Fox (POST 2) and Smooth An Easy (POST 3) in the exacta. Trifecta box of Globecrest (POST 6), Swamp Fox (POST 2), and Smooth An Easy (POST 3) at a modest investment.

RACE 3 — Post (1:54)/12:54/11:54/10:54 — 1830f | D | CO | OClm 17500 | BOF | Purse $37,000

A six-furlong optional claiming race on the dirt for fillies and mares, $17,500 claiming price, purse $37,000. Six horses entered. The small field means every horse will be a factor in the exotics, and the two heavy favorites — Brat Girl (POST 1) and Slewty Princess (POST 3) — will set up a potentially explosive exacta if either gets beaten.

Race 3

Pace Analysis

With six horses and two heavy favorites — Slewty Princess (POST 3) at 1-1 and Brat Girl (POST 1) at 2-1 — pace will be dictated by whichever of these two horses is more forwardly placed. Brat Girl (POST 1) from the inside post has the best early position advantage, and if Slewty Princess (POST 3) also prefers to press, a contested early pace could crack the door for Imperia Blue (POST 4) or Divine Blue (POST 5) at bigger odds.

Key Contenders

Slewty Princess (POST 3) is the morning line favorite at 1-1 for trainer Ronald Coy with Leonel Reyes riding. A horse made 1-1 in a six-horse field has clearly impressed handicappers significantly, and Coy/Reyes have had success together at Gulfstream. The post three draw is clean in a short field, and at a mile on the dirt, Slewty Princess (POST 3) should get an uncontested setup if her pace figures are superior.

Brat Girl (POST 1) is 2-1 for Heather Smullen with Heriberto Figueroa. The one post on a six-furlong dirt race is an asset, and Smullen has been a sharp conditioner at this level throughout the spring meet. Brat Girl (POST 1) is the main threat to the favorite and would be the clear winner if Slewty Princess (POST 3) fails to run her number.

Secondary Choices

Imperia Blue (POST 4) is 6-1 for Antonio Sano with Samy Camacho. The Sano barn with a top jockey at a useful price is always worth noting. If the two heavy favorites split each other's energy early, Imperia Blue (POST 4) has the talent to sweep past late.

Divine Blue (POST 5) is 8-1 for Antonio Sano with Nik Juarez — a second Sano entry in the same race. Barn may use one of these as the main play, and if they're both live, the Sano runners carry potential.

Longshots

Frosty Belle (POST 2) is 8-1 for Collin Maragh with Christian Maragh riding, a family barn/jockey combination. The eight-to-one price on a horse breaking from post two in a six-horse field is a mild surprise, and Frosty Belle (POST 2) could outrun that number if the pace sets up correctly.

Cuddle The Kitten (POST 6) is 10-1 for Jeffrey Scott Jones with Rajiv Maragh, the outermost post in the field. The price and post make this a long-price exotic play only.

Selections

Win: Slewty Princess (POST 3) Place: Brat Girl (POST 1) Show: Imperia Blue (POST 4)

Betting Strategy: The 1-1 morning line on Slewty Princess (POST 3) will almost certainly compress further at post time. The most effective approach is to use Brat Girl (POST 1) and Slewty Princess (POST 3) in exacta combinations both ways, then add Imperia Blue (POST 4) at 6-1 as an underneath shot if one of the favorites gets compromised early. The Sano double with Imperia Blue (POST 4) and Divine Blue (POST 5) deserves a small win ticket as an upset vehicle.

RACE 4 — Post (2:26)/1:26/12:26/11:26 — 1210f | D | M | Md 35000 | BUN | Purse $37,000

A seven-furlong maiden contest on the dirt for $35,000 maiden claimers, purse $37,000. Eight horses entered. Fighting The Wars (POST 6) is the morning line favorite at 2-1 from the Mark Casse barn, a telling sign in a maiden claimer of this caliber.

Race 4

Pace Analysis

The seven-furlong distance on Gulfstream's dirt rewards horses that can rate off a pace and sustain a long run through the stretch. Fighting The Wars (POST 6) from post six and Ambassador Blue (POST 3) from post three figure to set the early terms, with Redhotnotbothered (POST 1) adding pace pressure from the inside. If three horses are all vying for the early lead, the fractions could heat up and allow a closer to come through late.

Key Contenders

Fighting The Wars (POST 6) is 2-1 for Mark Casse with Samy Camacho riding. Casse is consistently one of the top maiden claimer trainers in North America and Camacho is a proven quantity at Gulfstream. Post six at seven furlongs on the dirt is workable, and with Casse's horses typically well-prepared at this level, Fighting The Wars (POST 6) is the legitimate top selection.

Ambassador Blue (POST 3) is the 3-1 second choice for Danny Gargan with Miguel Angel Vasquez. Post three in a maiden claimer at this distance is ideal — Vasquez can pop the gate and angle toward the rail without giving up ground. The Gargan/Vasquez combination has been effective this meet and Ambassador Blue (POST 3) must be included in all exotics.

Secondary Choices

Redhotnotbothered (POST 1) is 4-1 for Michael Lerman with Leonel Reyes from the one hole. The one post at seven furlongs on Gulfstream's dirt is potentially an asset — if Redhotnotbothered (POST 1) breaks clean and finds the rail, Reyes can nurse him along the fence and save considerable ground into the first turn. At 4-1, this is a legitimate price.

Evil Empire (POST 7) is 5-1 for Lerman — same barn as Redhotnotbothered (POST 1) — with Micah Husbands up. The Lerman double-entry creates a similar dynamic as the Orseno entry in Race 1. Both are live, but at slightly varying odds.

Longshots

Rafa Junior (POST 8) is 8-1 for Joseph Catanese II with Jose Morelos. From the outside post at seven furlongs, Rafa Junior (POST 8) will likely need a ground-saving trip to factor, but the 8-1 morning line suggests there's some form in the past performances.

Valen Time (POST 2) is 12-1 for Joseph Catanese II with Yolber Torres. Catanese has two entries here — Valen Time (POST 2) and Rafa Junior (POST 8) — and typically enters horses at the right level, but the 12-1 suggests this one has the least compelling recent form.

Eminent Power (POST 4) is 12-1 for Amzadali Jehaludi with Jonathan Ocasio. Likely a longer-price throw-in.

Raskolnikov (POST 5) is 15-1 for Fausto Gutierrez with Eric Cancel. Cancel is a solid rider but the 15-1 morning line signals limited expectations from the market.

Selections

Win: Fighting The Wars (POST 6) Place: Ambassador Blue (POST 3) Show: Redhotnotbothered (POST 1)

Betting Strategy: Key Fighting The Wars (POST 6) on top of Ambassador Blue (POST 3) and Redhotnotbothered (POST 1) in the exacta. Trifecta using Fighting The Wars (POST 6) and Ambassador Blue (POST 3) on top with Redhotnotbothered (POST 1) and Evil Empire (POST 7) in third. The Lerman double is a useful backup in all sequences.

RACE 5 — Post (2:58)/1:58/12:58/11:58 — 1430f | D | C | Clm 8000n2l | BUN | Purse $26,500

A six-and-a-half-furlong claiming event restricted to non-winners of two lifetime races, $8,000 claiming price, purse $26,500. Eight horses. This is low-level claiming territory and the field is predictably inconsistent, but the pace setup is intriguing given multiple pressing types in the field.

Race 5

Pace Analysis

Jimbo Bailey (POST 5) is the 2-1 favorite and likely front-runner, with Lobo Go (POST 2) and Migratory (POST 1) both capable of pressing. If all three contest the early pace, the fractions will be honest and Kazooza (POST 6) or Araucano (POST 7) might be well-positioned late. A pace collapse scenario favors any horse that rates off the speed.

Key Contenders

Jimbo Bailey (POST 5) is the 2-1 favorite for trainer Roderick Rodriquez with Eric Cancel riding. At this claiming level, Cancel on a morning line favorite means the connections are confident. Post five at six and a half furlongs is clean and Jimbo Bailey (POST 5) should break well and find a good stalking position or the front end.

Lobo Go (POST 2) is 4-1 for Barry Croft with Jose Morelos. The two post is favorable and Morelos has been picking up mounts throughout the card today, suggesting his agent has him on live horses. Lobo Go (POST 2) is the primary pace threat against Jimbo Bailey (POST 5).

Migratory (POST 1) is co-priced at 4-1 for Angel Rodriguez with Renzo Rojas. The one hole at six and a half furlongs on the Gulfstream dirt is prime real estate, and if Migratory (POST 1) can break cleanly and find the rail, the inside post bias could be decisive.

Secondary Choices

Kazooza (POST 6) is 5-1 for Tareq Moubarak with J. Bravo. The Bravo/Moubarak combination has shown up on multiple spots today, and Moubarak knows how to condition horses at the claiming level for this meet. At 5-1, Kazooza (POST 6) could be the most interesting price in the race if the pace gets contested.

Araucano (POST 7) is 8-1 for Jeff Engler with Miguel Angel Vasquez. The Vasquez booking is the most notable angle here — when Vasquez takes a mount in a race where he has other options, it's worth noting.

G Speedy (POST 4) is 8-1 for Kathy Mongeon with Diego Herrera. Difficult to make a strong case at this price in a field this competitive.

Longshots

Western Shaft (POST 3) is 20-1 for Daniel Hurtak with Yolber Torres. The price is too large to justify in a race with better-odds alternatives.

Sweet Lazarus (POST 8) is 20-1 for Leon McKanas with Jorge Luis Gonzalez. Extreme outside post and longest odds in the field make this a throwout in most wagering structures.

Selections

Win: Jimbo Bailey (POST 5) Place: Migratory (POST 1) Show: Kazooza (POST 6)

Betting Strategy: Jimbo Bailey (POST 5) is the clear choice but not at short odds. Use the exacta pairing Jimbo Bailey (POST 5) over Migratory (POST 1) and Kazooza (POST 6) as the primary wager. The trifecta using the top three with Lobo Go (POST 2) rounding out the bottom pays well if Lobo Go (POST 2) gets compromised after pressing early.

RACE 6 — Post (3:31)/2:31/1:31/12:31 — 1870f | T | C | Clm 25000n2l | BUN | Purse $38,000

A one-mile-and-three-sixteenths turf claimer restricted to non-winners of two, claiming $25,000, purse $38,000. Six horses entered. The small field creates a cleaner pace scenario and every horse is playable in the exotic pools. Cognoscenti (POST 1) and Human Desire (POST 6) are co-favorites at 2-1.

Race 6

Pace Analysis

With only six horses over a distance that rewards class and stamina on turf, the race will likely develop at a comfortable pace with a late surge from the classier horses. Cognoscenti (POST 1) from the rail and Human Desire (POST 6) from the outside post create an interesting dynamic — the inside post benefits from ground-saving, while the outside post will require a wider trip. Hillbilly Bob (POST 3) and Peppermint Man (POST 5) at 4-1 each project as mid-pack stalkers.

Key Contenders

Cognoscenti (POST 1) is 2-1 for trainer Nolan Ramsey with Miguel Angel Vasquez. The rail post in a six-horse turf route is among the most coveted draws at Gulfstream, and Vasquez is the best at maximizing that position. Ramsey keeps a solid barn and this horse's “n2l” condition — non-winner of two lifetime — suggests he has broken his maiden and has a win in him at this claiming level.

Human Desire (POST 6) is co-2-1 for Robert DiBona with Samy Camacho. The outside post is the most challenging draw in a six-horse turf route, but Camacho is capable of rating the horse back and finding the rail on the first turn. DiBona has shown competence at this level throughout the spring meet.

Secondary Choices

Hillbilly Bob (POST 3) is 4-1 for J. Kent Sweezey with Jose Morelos. The three post is ideal on turf, and Morelos gets a live one at a reasonable price. Sweezey conditions horses well for turf routes at Gulfstream and Hillbilly Bob (POST 3) at 4-1 has genuine upset potential.

Peppermint Man (POST 5) is co-4-1 for Ronald Spatz with Edgar Perez. Post five in a six-horse turf field could allow Peppermint Man (POST 5) to stalk from just off the pace and strike when the pace falters. Worth including in the exacta.

Longshots

Rafaroo (POST 2) is 8-1 for Joseph Orseno with Diego Herrera. Orseno's runners on the Gulfstream turf have been competitive throughout the spring, and Rafaroo (POST 2) at 8-1 deserves at least a trifecta inclusion.

Wittingly (POST 4) is 8-1 for Dante Zanelli with Yolber Torres. In a six-horse field, all horses must be used in trifecta wagering, and Torres on any horse is worth at least a token look.

Selections

Win: Cognoscenti (POST 1) Place: Hillbilly Bob (POST 3) Show: Human Desire (POST 6)

Betting Strategy: Play Cognoscenti (POST 1) to win and use it as the top selection in all exactas. The best value is found by backing Hillbilly Bob (POST 3) at 4-1 underneath Cognoscenti (POST 1) or as a saver on top. All six horses are playable in the trifecta with a modest investment.

RACE 7 — Post (4:04)/3:04/2:04/1:04 — 1760f | D | S | Md Sp Wt | BON | Purse $68,000

The first of two maiden special weight events on the card, this one a one-mile dirt sprint for a $68,000 purse. Twelve horses entered, featuring some of the most accomplished connections of the day — Brad Cox, Todd Pletcher (two entries), Saffie Joseph Jr. (two entries), and Brendan Walsh. This is a competitive maiden sprint that will generate significant exotic wagering interest.

Race 7

Pace Analysis

With twelve horses in a one-mile maiden special weight on the dirt, early pace will be a crucial factor. Ace From Space (POST 7) from the Brad Cox barn and Argent Heir (POST 10) from Pletcher are the co-4-1 favorites alongside Azam (POST 11) at the same price. Multiple horses project as potential pressers, which could lead to heated early fractions and benefit the stalking types. Oso De Oro (POST 9) from the Brendan Walsh barn and Al Loud (POST 6) from Pletcher are interesting deeper prices from elite barns.

Key Contenders

Ace From Space (POST 7) is 4-1 for Brad Cox with Samy Camacho. Cox is among the premier conditioners in North America and rarely ships a horse to Gulfstream for a maiden sprint without the horse being properly prepared. Post seven in a twelve-horse field at one mile on the dirt is a middle post — Camacho can rate the horse off the pace or get aggressive early. The Cox/Camacho combination is among the strongest in the nation and Ace From Space (POST 7) is the top selection.

Argent Heir (POST 10) is co-4-1 for Todd Pletcher with Rajiv Maragh. Pletcher's second entry carries significant stable support and Maragh has ridden extremely well in Florida. Post ten in a twelve-horse field requires a clean break and a patient trip, but Maragh has the ring skills to manage it. Pletcher's maiden special weight horses at Gulfstream win at a strong clip.

Azam (POST 11) is the third co-4-1 shot, trained by Jose Francisco D'Angelo with Leonel Reyes. D'Angelo has been a consistent and improving trainer at Gulfstream, and Azam (POST 11) at 4-1 is clearly well-regarded locally.

Secondary Choices

The Pulse (POST 5) is 6-1 for Saffie Joseph Jr. with Micah Husbands. The Joseph stable has been among the most productive at Gulfstream throughout the meet and Husbands is a proven turf and dirt pilot. At 6-1, The Pulse (POST 5) from post five is well-positioned and offers genuine value.

Max Score (POST 3) is 12-1 for Saffie Joseph Jr. with Diego Herrera — the second Joseph entry at a longer price. Max Score (POST 3) from post three is well drawn and if Joseph's stable support lands on The Pulse (POST 5), Max Score (POST 3) could be worth a saver at the bigger price.

Noble Pride (POST 4) is 12-1 for David Fawkes with Edgar Perez. Fawkes has had some live horses at this meet and post four at one mile on the dirt is an ideal draw.

Longshots

Al Loud (POST 6) is 20-1 for Todd Pletcher with Eric Cancel. In maiden special weight races, Pletcher sometimes runs horses at longer prices that are lightly raced and improving rapidly — the 20-1 is worth a token investment given the barn.

Oso De Oro (POST 9) is 20-1 for Brendan Walsh with Miguel Angel Vasquez. Vasquez taking a 20-1 shot for Walsh in a maiden special weight is an angle worth noting — these connections rarely show up without a competitive horse. Oso De Oro (POST 9) is a prime upset candidate.

Noble Heritage (POST 8) is 12-1 for Jorge Delgado with Jose Antonio Gomez. Difficult to elevate in a field this competitive but included in trifecta wheels at moderate investment.

Lost Money (POST 12) is 8-1 for Juan Arias with Jose Morelos. The outside post in a twelve-horse field is a significant disadvantage, and while 8-1 is not a throwaway price, the post position is a real concern.

Kingswearcrowns (POST 2) is 15-1 for Tareq Moubarak with Yolber Torres. Worth a token trifecta inclusion but not a primary selection.

Workinclasskid (POST 1) is 30-1 for Leon McKanas with J. Bravo — the longest shot in the field. Very difficult to use.

Selections

Win: Ace From Space (POST 7) Place: Argent Heir (POST 10) Show: The Pulse (POST 5)

Betting Strategy: Ace From Space (POST 7) is the top selection by trainer profile, and the Cox/Camacho combination justifies the investment at 4-1. Key Ace From Space (POST 7) over Argent Heir (POST 10), The Pulse (POST 5), and Azam (POST 11) in the exacta. The trifecta sequence Ace From Space (POST 7) / Argent Heir (POST 10) and Azam (POST 11) / The Pulse (POST 5) and Noble Pride (POST 4) covers the most likely outcomes. Include Oso De Oro (POST 9) as a deep longshot in any superfecta structure — the Vasquez/Walsh combination is the best upset angle in the race.

RACE 8 — Post (4:36)/3:36/2:36/1:36 — 1870f | T | AO | OClm 25000n1x | BUM | Purse $70,000

A one-mile-and-three-sixteenths optional claiming race on the turf, open to all-age females, $25,000 claiming price, purse $70,000. Nine horses entered. This is the highest-purse turf race on the card and has drawn a competitive field featuring La Cantera (POST 3) and Turino (POST 5) as co-2-1 morning line choices.

Race 8

Pace Analysis

The one-and-three-sixteenths distance on Gulfstream's turf will favor a stamina-based closer or a horse that can rate in mid-pack and accelerate through the final turn. With two co-favorites, both likely to be ridden conservatively to maximize their finishing kick, the early pace will be set by Starship Melody (POST 6) or Altamira Sur (POST 7) if they are forward-running types. Pretty Lavish (POST 8) and North End Lady (POST 1) could also factor in a pace-influenced scenario.

Key Contenders

La Cantera (POST 3) is co-2-1 for trainer Carlos David with Samy Camacho. David has conditioned horses effectively on the Gulfstream turf throughout the spring and post three in this nine-horse field is a prime draw. La Cantera (POST 3) will likely rate in the first flight and Camacho has the experience to manage the turf course at this distance.

Turino (POST 5) is co-2-1 for Saffie Joseph Jr. with Micah Husbands. The Joseph barn's productivity continues, and Turino (POST 5) from post five has a neutral draw that allows Husbands full tactical flexibility. At a $70,000 purse, this race is serious and Joseph would not enter without a live horse.

Secondary Choices

Pretty Lavish (POST 8) is 4-1 for J. Kent Sweezey with Diego Herrera. At 4-1, Pretty Lavish (POST 8) represents the most compelling value in this race given the Sweezey barn's turf success at this level and Herrera's proficiency on the Gulfstream turf. The eight post requires careful navigation but Herrera is up to the task.

Starship Melody (POST 6) is 6-1 for Heather Smullen with Leonel Reyes. Smullen's barn has been active and effective and Starship Melody (POST 6) at 6-1 offers real value if the two favorites get caught up in a pace duel.

Longshots

North End Lady (POST 1) is 10-1 for Barclay Tagg with Miguel Angel Vasquez. Tagg is one of the most respected horsemen in the country, and Vasquez taking the mount on a 10-1 shot trained by Tagg is a notable angle. North End Lady (POST 1) has the inside post advantage on the turf and the jockey upgrade to Vasquez at 10-1 is a potential overlay.

Mom's Martini (POST 4) is 10-1 for David Fawkes with Eric Cancel. Mid-pack turf horse with a solid post at a reachable price — worth a small trifecta inclusion.

Lady Cha Cha (POST 2) is 15-1 for Laura Cazares with J. Bravo. The 15-1 morning line suggests the form is below the top competitors, but Bravo always rides the Gulfstream turf with skill.

Altamira Sur (POST 7) is 15-1 for Jose Francisco D'Angelo with Yolber Torres. Long price but Torres is consistently competent.

Bertrille (POST 9) is 20-1 for J. Kent Sweezey with Jose Morelos. The second Sweezey entry at a much longer price; likely the barn's secondary option but the 20-1 limits exotic utility unless you have reason to believe the stable weights Pretty Lavish (POST 8) as the main horse.

Selections

Win: Turino (POST 5) Place: La Cantera (POST 3) Show: Pretty Lavish (POST 8)

Betting Strategy: The Joseph barn's consistent productivity at Gulfstream gives Turino (POST 5) the nod over the equally-priced La Cantera (POST 3). Play Turino (POST 5) to win and use it and La Cantera (POST 3) interchangeably in the exacta. Add Pretty Lavish (POST 8) at 4-1 as the best value underneath. North End Lady (POST 1) at 10-1 with Vasquez aboard is the best single longshot investment on the card in this race.

RACE 9 — Post (5:08)/4:08/3:08/2:08 — 1830f | D | C | Clm 10000 | CUN | Purse $29,000

A six-furlong claiming event at the $10,000 level on the dirt, purse $29,000. Thirteen horses entered, making this the largest field on the card and the most unpredictable race from an exotic standpoint. Pace will be contentious with multiple front-runners in a field this size.

Race 9

Pace Analysis

With thirteen horses at six furlongs and multiple pace-pressers, the early fractions figure to be fast. Rock The Stars (POST 7) and Corta Fuego (POST 10) are co-4-1 morning line favorites and both could be pressing types. Bless America (POST 1) from the rail with Diego Herrera is a known quantity on the Gulfstream sprint scene. The pace will be heated and a closer who can find a clean trip late has a legitimate chance at a big price.

Key Contenders

Rock The Stars (POST 7) is co-4-1 for Elizabeth Dobles with Jose Morelos. The Dobles barn is familiar territory at Gulfstream's claiming level and Morelos has ridden effectively for the stable. Post seven in a thirteen-horse field at six furlongs is mid-pack territory but manageable for a horse with enough early pace to find position.

Corta Fuego (POST 10) is co-4-1 for Jorge Delgado with Samy Camacho. Delgado is a Gulfstream fixture at the claiming level and Camacho picking up this mount signals a live horse. The ten post requires a good break to avoid trouble.

Bless America (POST 1) is 5-1 for Carlos David with Diego Herrera. The rail post in a sprint is the best draw and David/Herrera have combined well throughout the spring meet. Bless America (POST 1) at 5-1 is potentially the best value selection among the favorites.

Secondary Choices

Winooski (POST 12) is 6-1 for Sam Wilensky with Micah Husbands. Husbands taking this mount at 6-1 is a positive signal and closers from outside posts in large fields can sometimes find ideal trips when the pace devolves into a speed duel.

Bay Of Bengal (POST 4) is 6-1 for Carlos David with Yolber Torres. David enters two horses here — Bless America (POST 1) and Bay Of Bengal (POST 4) — and double entries from competent trainers often signal that one is a legitimate play. Torres is a solid pilot who can manage either the pressing or stalking style.

Light Fury (POST 6) is 8-1 for David Fawkes with Eric Cancel. Fawkes has had horses in the money all card and Light Fury (POST 6) at 8-1 with Cancel in the irons is a legitimate secondary option.

Longshots

Honesto (POST 2) is 10-1 for Steve Budhoo with Miguel Angel Vasquez. Vasquez taking a 10-1 mount in a $10,000 claimer is an unusual angle and worth noting — either he owes the barn a favor or the horse has shown something in the morning.

Backonthechaingang (POST 9) is 10-1 for Javier Gonzalez with Leonel Reyes. Could be a late-running type that benefits from the pace scenario.

Triumphant Road (POST 5) is 15-1 for Jose Castro with J. Bravo. The Bravo booking is always worth a look but the price reflects modest current form.

Hottakejake (POST 13) is 15-1 for Tareq Moubarak with Yolber Torres — the rail-adjacent outside post in the largest field of the day. Torres picks up another mount here, and while the post is a disadvantage, Torres can work with it.

Breezer (POST 8) is 20-1 for Antonio Sano with JG Torrealba. The Sano barn is always a consideration but the price limits utility.

Never Say Never (POST 3) is 30-1 for Frank Santillana with Joseph Trejos. Difficult to use at this extreme price.

Roscoe Pine (POST 11) is 30-1 for Manny Real with Heriberto Figueroa. Similarly long-priced throwout.

Selections

Win: Bless America (POST 1) Place: Corta Fuego (POST 10) Show: Winooski (POST 12)

Betting Strategy: The inside post advantage makes Bless America (POST 1) the top choice despite co-favorite Rock The Stars (POST 7) also being a legitimate threat. In a thirteen-horse field, the trifecta and superfecta are the primary wagering vehicles. Play Bless America (POST 1) and Corta Fuego (POST 10) on top interchangeably, with Winooski (POST 12), Bay Of Bengal (POST 4), and Rock The Stars (POST 7) filling out the combinations. The superfecta in a thirteen-horse field with contested pace can return enormous dividends.

RACE 10 — Post (5:40)/4:40/3:40/2:40 — 1760f | D | A | Hcp75000 | CUM | Purse $75,000

The featured race of the day — a $75,000 Handicap at one mile on the dirt for all ages and both sexes. Nine horses entered. Indy Bay (POST 4) and Public Defender (POST 9) are co-2-1 morning line favorites for the Saffie Joseph Jr. barn, which saddles both horses. This dual entry situation is the dominant handicapping angle in the race.

Race 10

Pace Analysis

One mile on the Gulfstream dirt in a handicap field typically produces a sensible pace set by the most speed-oriented horse, with stalkers and closers moving through the field on the final turn. With Indy Bay (POST 4) and Public Defender (POST 9) both from the Joseph barn, the tactical approach may differ — one horse could be used aggressively while the other is rated conservatively. Runaway Diva (POST 1) from the Michelle Hemingway barn is a natural pace-setter that could clear the field if the favorites are held off the pace.

Key Contenders

Indy Bay (POST 4) is co-2-1 for Saffie Joseph Jr. with Miguel Angel Vasquez. In a barn entry, the horse getting the top jockey is usually the main stable choice. Vasquez taking Indy Bay (POST 4) in the Joseph double entry is a critical clue. The four post at one mile on the dirt is a favorable draw, and at $75,000 handicap level, Indy Bay (POST 4) must be the primary selection.

Public Defender (POST 9) is co-2-1 for Joseph Jr. with Micah Husbands. From the outside post in a nine-horse field at one mile, Public Defender (POST 9) faces a wider trip but Husbands is an adept one-turn handler. If the barn's stable strength is in Public Defender (POST 9), the 2-1 price still offers reasonable value.

Runaway Diva (POST 1) is 4-1 for Michelle Hemingway with Samy Camacho. The rail post at one mile on the Gulfstream dirt is the best post on the board for a pace-controlling type, and Runaway Diva (POST 1) at 4-1 could wire this field if the Joseph runners are ridden conservatively.

Secondary Choices

Fantastic Flame (POST 3) is 10-1 for Tareq Moubarak with J. Bravo. In a nine-horse field, 10-1 on a Moubarak horse with Bravo in the irons represents real value. Fantastic Flame (POST 3) from post three could find a perfect stalking trip just off Runaway Diva (POST 1)'s pace.

St. Olaf Rose (POST 5) is 8-1 for Frank Regalbuto with Leonel Reyes. Mid-pack position from post five, and at 8-1, this horse could outrun her odds in a pace-influenced scenario.

Longshots

Flowers For Me (POST 7) is 10-1 for Gerald Bennett with Eric Cancel. Cancel has had a strong day and Flowers For Me (POST 7) from a neutral post at 10-1 is a trifecta inclusion.

Calling The Shots (POST 2) is 20-1 for Heather Smullen with Jonathan Ocasio. The Smullen barn has been competitive all day and Calling The Shots (POST 2) at 20-1 is a longer-price upset vehicle that may have tactical speed from post two.

Riding Pretty (POST 6) is 15-1 for Eddie Owens Jr. with Edgar Perez. Difficult to make a serious case at this price in a race with multiple strong selections.

Puckered (POST 8) is 30-1 for Herold Simms with Heriberto Figueroa. Extreme longshot; limit to superfecta consideration only.

Selections

Win: Indy Bay (POST 4) Place: Runaway Diva (POST 1) Show: Public Defender (POST 9)

Betting Strategy: The Vasquez/Joseph combination on Indy Bay (POST 4) is the primary play in the featured race of the day. Use Indy Bay (POST 4) and Runaway Diva (POST 1) interchangeably on top in exactas, with Public Defender (POST 9) and Fantastic Flame (POST 3) as secondary options underneath. The co-2-1 pricing on both Joseph horses will make the exacta between them a low-paying proposition — the best value comes from including Runaway Diva (POST 1) at 4-1 in win and exacta wagers.

RACE 11 — Post (6:12)/5:12/4:12/3:12 — 1650f | T | S | Md Sp Wt | BUM | Purse $68,000

The card closer, a six-and-a-half-furlong maiden special weight on the turf for fillies, purse $68,000. Nine horses entered, featuring Achieve (POST 1) from the Mark Casse barn and Illuminatrice (POST 5) from Jeff Engler as co-2-1 morning line favorites. Todd Pletcher's Fruitful (POST 7) is a notable 5-1 secondary selection.

Race 11

Pace Analysis

At six and a half furlongs on the Gulfstream turf, the pace is typically modestly contested with horses settling quickly behind an early leader. The rail post benefits Achieve (POST 1) if she can break cleanly and rate off the speed. Illuminatrice (POST 5) from post five has a neutral draw and will likely be ridden to get a ground-saving trip through the first turn. Fruitful (POST 7) from the Pletcher barn is a horse that typically needs a pace to run at and will appreciate a forward-moving early pace.

Key Contenders

Achieve (POST 1) is 2-1 for Mark Casse with Samy Camacho. Casse finishing the day with a 2-1 co-favorite at maiden special weight level on the turf is a strong closing note. The rail post at six and a half furlongs on turf is an asset — Camacho can hug the rail and save enormous ground. The Casse barn's maiden turf runners at Gulfstream have been reliable performers and Achieve (POST 1) deserves respect.

Illuminatrice (POST 5) is co-2-1 for Jeff Engler with Miguel Angel Vasquez. Engler has shown solid results with turf maidens at this level throughout the meet and Vasquez's presence is always a strong positive. Post five at six and a half furlongs on turf allows Vasquez to settle mid-pack and make a sustained run through the stretch.

Secondary Choices

Fruitful (POST 7) is 5-1 for Todd Pletcher with Rajiv Maragh. As noted throughout this report, Pletcher's maiden special weight horses at Gulfstream are consistently well-prepared. Fruitful (POST 7) at 5-1 is underpriced for a Pletcher maiden turf runner, and Maragh riding the best conditioner of this meet's closer is a significant angle. This is the best value in Race 11.

Home Wrecker (POST 6) is 6-1 for Danny Gargan with Micah Husbands. The Gargan barn has had live horses throughout the card and Home Wrecker (POST 6) between the two co-favorites gets a workable draw. At 6-1, this filly could outrun her odds.

Rookie Move (POST 8) is 8-1 for Michael Maker with Eric Cancel. Maker is a top-level trainer and Cancel is one of the better jockeys at the meet. The 8-1 morning line on a Maker turf maiden is potentially an overlay.

Longshots

How About Abby (POST 9) is 12-1 for Brendan Walsh with Leonel Reyes. The Walsh barn had a runner in Race 7 and makes another appearance here. Walsh's turf maidens can show up at any price and How About Abby (POST 9) at 12-1 is worth a place bet or trifecta inclusion.

Honey D'oro (POST 2) is 12-1 for Manuel Criollo with Jonathan Ocasio. The price limits appeal but Ocasio has been in the money throughout the day.

Cairo Girl (POST 3) is 15-1 for Kelly Breen with Jose Antonio Gomez. Breen is a quality trainer who occasionally hits with well-priced turf maidens.

Cajun Empress (POST 4) is 30-1 for Francisco Alanis with Angel Serpa. Extreme longshot; limited exotic utility.

Selections

Win: Achieve (POST 1) Place: Fruitful (POST 7) Show: Illuminatrice (POST 5)

Betting Strategy: Fruitful (POST 7) at 5-1 offers the best single-race value on the closing card. Play Fruitful (POST 7) straight as the upset play and use Achieve (POST 1) as the top choice in exactas. The exacta combination Achieve (POST 1) over Fruitful (POST 7) and Illuminatrice (POST 5) is the primary wager. Include Rookie Move (POST 8) in trifecta sequences given the Maker/Cancel combination.

Jockey Notes and Insights

Miguel Angel Vasquez is the clear top rider of the day with mounts in nine of eleven races, including key rides on Ready To Battle (POST 2) in Race 1, Globecrest (POST 6) in Race 2, Ambassador Blue (POST 3) in Race 4, Araucano (POST 7) in Race 5, Cognoscenti (POST 1) in Race 6, Oso De Oro (POST 9) in Race 7, North End Lady (POST 1) in Race 8, Indy Bay (POST 4) in Race 10, and Illuminatrice (POST 5) in Race 11. When Vasquez takes a 10-1 mount in Race 7 on Oso De Oro (POST 9) for Brendan Walsh and North End Lady (POST 1) at the same price in Race 8 for Barclay Tagg, these are prime upset plays from Hall of Fame-level trainers.

Samy Camacho is nearly as busy, riding in eight races and getting the call on several morning line favorites including Swamp Fox (POST 2) in Race 2, Fighting The Wars (POST 6) in Race 4, Corta Fuego (POST 10) in Race 9, Ace From Space (POST 7) in Race 7, Runaway Diva (POST 1) in Race 10, La Cantera (POST 3) in Race 8, and Achieve (POST 1) in Race 11. Camacho's book reflects a strong and consistent agent at work.

Eric Cancel rides nine races and is one of the more consistent performers at Gulfstream's spring meet. Cancel's mounts include Annie Goodbody (POST 4) in Race 1, Uncle Zeb (POST 4) in Race 2, Jimbo Bailey (POST 5) in Race 5, Light Fury (POST 6) in Race 9, Flowers For Me (POST 7) in Race 10, and Rookie Move (POST 8) in Race 11. Cancel on a morning line favorite or a well-priced secondary choice is always worth backing.

Micah Husbands rides seven horses including The Pulse (POST 5) in Race 7, Turino (POST 5) in Race 8, Winooski (POST 12) in Race 9, Public Defender (POST 9) in Race 10, and Home Wrecker (POST 6) in Race 11. The Joseph Jr. double in both Races 7 and 8 for Husbands means he is the second jockey of choice for the meet's top trainer.

Yolber Torres rides across ten races — arguably the busiest jockey on the card — and gets mounts on Game Changer Jolie (POST 9) in Race 1, Smooth An Easy (POST 3) in Race 2, Wittingly (POST 4) in Race 6, Kingswearcrowns (POST 2) in Race 7, Altamira Sur (POST 7) in Race 8, Bay Of Bengal (POST 4) in Race 9, Hottakejake (POST 13) in Race 9, and Valen Time (POST 2) in Race 4. Torres' volume suggests his agent is filling gaps throughout the card rather than landing exclusive top-shelf horses, but he is consistent enough to be competitive at any price.

Rajiv Maragh, recently noted as making a move to Woodbine full-time, appears here in several key spots before that transition takes effect — most notably on Argent Heir (POST 10) in Race 7 for Todd Pletcher and Fruitful (POST 7) in Race 11 for Pletcher. If this is among his final rides at Gulfstream before heading north, Maragh may be especially motivated.

Trainer Notes and Insights

Saffie Joseph Jr. is the most prominent trainer on the card, saddling horses in multiple races including The Pulse (POST 5) and Max Score (POST 3) in Race 7, Turino (POST 5) in Race 8, Indy Bay (POST 4) and Public Defender (POST 9) in Race 10. Joseph has been the dominant trainer at Gulfstream throughout this meet and his horses consistently fire at high percentages, particularly at the maiden special weight and allowance levels. The double entry in Race 10 creates a wagering decision — Vasquez taking Indy Bay (POST 4) is the clearest guide to stable preference.

Todd Pletcher saddles Al Loud (POST 6) and Argent Heir (POST 10) in Race 7 and Fruitful (POST 7) in Race 11. Pletcher's presence on any maiden special weight card at Gulfstream in the spring is meaningful — his two-year-olds and lightly-raced horses are almost always spotted correctly, and Argent Heir (POST 10) and Fruitful (POST 7) deserve premium attention in their respective races.

Mark Casse is represented by Ready To Battle (POST 2) in Race 1, Globecrest (POST 6) in Race 2, Fighting The Wars (POST 6) in Race 4, and Achieve (POST 1) in Race 11. Casse closing the card with a 2-1 maiden special weight favorite on the turf is classic — his barn conditions turf runners precisely and Achieve (POST 1) should be respected.

Brad Cox's entry of Ace From Space (POST 7) in Race 7 is a single shot from a barn that rarely misses when targeting a maiden special weight on dirt. Cox's win percentage with maiden special weight dirt entries is consistently elite.

Heather Smullen trains Brat Girl (POST 1) in Race 3, Starship Melody (POST 6) in Race 8, and Calling The Shots (POST 2) in Race 10. The Smullen barn has been active and effective throughout the spring meet and all three horses are live.

Antonio Sano has multiple entries including Imperia Blue (POST 4) and Divine Blue (POST 5) in Race 3, and Uncle Zeb (POST 4) in Race 2, and Breezer (POST 8) in Race 9. The double entry in Race 3 warrants watching — Imperia Blue (POST 4) with Camacho at 6-1 may be the intended play.

Carlos David trains multiple horses across the card — La Cantera (POST 3) in Race 8 and Bless America (POST 1) and Bay Of Bengal (POST 4) in Race 9. A trainer entering multiple horses in the same race at the claiming level sometimes signals a horse being dropped to find a win, and Bless America (POST 1) with the favorable inside post is the preferred David selection.

Brendan Walsh has Oso De Oro (POST 9) in Race 7 and How About Abby (POST 9) in Race 11 — both at double-digit morning line prices and both with elite jockeys. Walsh's Gulfstream runners deserve respect at any price.

Best Wagering Strategies and Value Plays

The single best value play on the card is Fruitful (POST 7) in Race 11 at 5-1 morning line for Todd Pletcher with Rajiv Maragh. Pletcher's maiden special weight turf runners at Gulfstream in the spring are among the most reliable angle plays in all of handicapping. At 5-1 on a Pletcher turf filly with a top jockey, this horse is effectively mispriced by the morning line when accounting for the trainer's historical win rate.

The second-best single value is Oso De Oro (POST 9) in Race 7 at 20-1 for Brendan Walsh with Miguel Angel Vasquez. When Vasquez takes a 20-1 shot in a maiden special weight for a Hall of Fame-caliber trainer, the price is almost certainly longer than the horse deserves. Place an each-way bet or include Oso De Oro (POST 9) in trifecta and superfecta structures throughout the race.

North End Lady (POST 1) in Race 8 at 10-1 for Barclay Tagg with Miguel Angel Vasquez represents a similar angle — Tagg is one of the most respected horsemen in the industry and the Vasquez booking at 10-1 on a turf route mare is the type of play that wins at big prices.

For the Pick 5 sequence, the optimal coverage begins in Race 7 and runs through Race 11. Structure as follows:

Race 7 — Use Ace From Space (POST 7), Argent Heir (POST 10), and The Pulse (POST 5) as the top three, with Azam (POST 11) as a fourth option in deeper tickets.

Race 8 — Use Turino (POST 5) and La Cantera (POST 3) as the primary pair, adding Pretty Lavish (POST 8) and North End Lady (POST 1) for coverage.

Race 9 — This is the most unpredictable race on the card with thirteen horses. Use singles sparingly — Bless America (POST 1) or Corta Fuego (POST 10) as singles in budget tickets, with a broader spread in deeper tickets including Winooski (POST 12) and Bay Of Bengal (POST 4).

Race 10 — Single Indy Bay (POST 4) in budget tickets given the Vasquez/Joseph angle, or use Indy Bay (POST 4) and Runaway Diva (POST 1) as a pair.

Race 11 — Use Achieve (POST 1) and Fruitful (POST 7) as the primary pair, adding Illuminatrice (POST 5) and Rookie Move (POST 8) for
