Pick Pony Handicapper Report — ELK September 7, 2026

Fast, dry track with a speed bias throughout; front-runners and early positioners favored at all distances. Inside posts hold an edge in the route races (Races 3, 5, 10); middle posts are ideal in the short sprints.

Race 1 — 770f Allowance

London Lc (4) is the top choice from a clean middle draw with early positional advantages. Tap Man (1) presses from the rail as the barn's primary speed horse. Classy Penguin (6) and Twice Over (2) are pace-beneficiary longshots if the front duo tire.

Race 2 — 300f Allowance

Lrh Mojo Kat (5) is the gate-speed favorite from a solid center post in a race decided entirely by the break. Ps Rocky Mountain (1) with an elite rider is a legitimate threat despite the inside angle. Include El Serafin (4) in all exotics.

Race 3 — 1320f Elko Derby

I'm Your Coco (3) gets the top jockey on the grounds and a dream post in the one-mile Derby. Tavs Sand Drake (4) is the co-equal stablemate and must be used alongside in all exotics. Boogie Boy (2) at 4-1 is the value play if the Jensen co-favorites split the wagering pool.

Race 4 — 350f Allowance

Cyberx (5) is the public choice from a near-ideal center post in this short blast. Flashin D Cartel (2) from a sharp operation with a trusted rider is the main danger. Include Okey Mountain Legend (6) in trifectas for the jockey edge at a fair price.

Race 5 — 1320f Miss Elko Finals

Seeking Quality (5) sits just off the Dominguez pace trio and is positioned to pounce if Posts 1-3 soften each other. Clay's Ruby Love (6) is a sharp second choice from outside with a capable rider. Forever N Love (2) is the best of the Dominguez three and worth including in trifecta fill.

Race 6 — 770f Allowance

Fire Of The Mountain (2) gets the meet's leading jockey from an inside post and is the clear top selection. Retained (4) at 4-1 is the value play with a clean middle draw. Western Grit (3) gives the active Canales operation a wire-to-wire threat from the pivot post.

Race 7 — 400f Stakes $27,000

Dashing Deluxe (6) draws the best post in the field for a ten-horse sprint and opens as co-favorite. Armed To D Hilt (4) and Cartels Speedo (3) give the Canales barn a two-pronged inside-center attack worth covering. Awesome Cowboy (5) at 8-1 with the meet's second-best jockey is the standout longshot in all trifectas and superfectas.

Race 8 — 100f Stakes $7,000

Pappajeto (7) with the meet's top jockey heads three co-4-1 runners in a race decided entirely by gate explosiveness. Box Pappajeto (7), Cds Its Only Money (2), and Shiza A Turbo (4) in exactas. Ccbrookslittleboy (8) at 5-1 is a slight overlay worth adding to the box.

Race 9 — 350f Trial $46,000

Silvers Creek (5) gets the card's top jockey from the center post in the richest race of the day — the strongest trainer-jockey signal on the entire program. Hot Britches (7) and Delta Flight 3849 (3) are the primary backup plays at fair prices. Wacky Wednesday (9) at co-4-1 must be included despite the outside post; Talk To Papa 2 (2) at 12-1 is the longshot bomb from an active barn that could be pointing to this race.

Race 10 — 1760f Claiming

Star Entry (1) at 2-1 from the rail is the logical closer — ground savings over a full mile on a fair track are significant. Mother's Prayer (4) at 4-1 with the meet's second-best jockey is the best price-jockey combination on the back half of the card and worth a straight win bet. Herecomegeorgieboy (6) and Melodity (5) fill in trifecta spots, with Melodity (5) notable as another Ironeyes mount for an active barn.
