Pick Pony Handicapper — Laurel Park, May 9, 2026

Partly cloudy, mid-60s at first post, no rain. Dirt track expected fast; turf firm to good. Inside posts carry a meaningful edge in turf routes; co-favorites at wide posts in Race 7 are vulnerable. Monitor Race 5 for scratch resolution on the dual Ness entry, and watch for APM NOTION (5) scratch in Race 4.

Race 1

Blackfoot Daisy (2) is the clear top choice in this turf sprint, backed by a top national barn and a favorable post. Granuaile (7) should press the pace and is the main danger at 3-1. Over My Cents (6) is worth including underneath in exotics as a pace-stalking type.

Race 2

Lady Charlotte (1) dominates from the rail at 1-1 and should control the pace in this small field. Infastuation (4) is the best betting angle, capable of a late run if the fractions are honest. Blessed Candy (6) rounds out the exotics from the outside post.

Race 3

Flamenco Star (7) is the heavy favorite and the top selection despite the wide post in this eleven-horse maiden turf route. Oxford Union (1) is the prime saver, benefiting from the inside draw and a ground-saving trip. David's Kitten (3) and Haulin Oats (4) are the preferred trifecta fillers, with Toledo's presence on the latter worth noting.

Race 4

Ballycurrin (3) gets the nod over co-favorite Gripen (4) based on the slight post advantage and trainer reliability on the turf. Eachpeachpearplum (8) at 4-1 is the value play if the honest pace opens the door for a closer. Scratch APM NOTION (5) expected before post.

Race 5

The surviving Ness trainee — Tammy's Cruiser (1) or Alyvia Mavis (7) — is a near-certain single at 0-1; use it to anchor multi-race wagers rather than betting to win. Ready For Magic (2) at 5-1 is the top challenger, with Paperback Edition (8) worth including underneath in exactas.

Race 6

It's Electric (5) gets the win call over co-favorite Freedom Glider (3), both for Jorge Duarte Jr., making either a reasonable top selection. Gordito (1) at 4-1 is the most appealing play tactically, sitting the rail in an eleven-horse turf route. Treasurthememories (11) at 8-1 and Vignon Manor (4) at 8-1 are the best deeper exotics options.

Race 7

Summer Bee (7) is the best value on the card at 4-1, ideally positioned between the pace and the vulnerable co-favorites Carnaby (10) and Masen (11), who both draw the two widest posts in an eleven-horse turf sprint. Laddie Dance (8) at 6-1 and Nola Boss (2) at 6-1 are the preferred supporting players. Fading the co-favorites at 2-1 from posts 10 and 11 is the recommended angle.

Race 8

Enigmatic (6) at 1-1 is the single of the late card in this six-horse allowance, a prime anchor for the Pick 3. Isabella's Glory (3) and Book Of Wisdom (5) are the best exacta and trifecta options underneath, both at 4-1 alongside R Averie Lynn (4).

Race 9

Just For The Money (3) at 2-1 with Toledo is the top selection to close the card. Ecumenical (6) at 3-1 is the main threat from the outside post, and Pudge Boy Palace (2) gives a secondary Corrales option to round out trifecta coverage. Note the Corrales double-entry with Daufuskie Island (1) at 5-1 from the rail as a live longshot.
