Pick Pony Track Condition Report — Fort Erie, June 7, 2026
Track Surface & Bias
Fort Erie's dirt (D) surface typically plays fairly to slightly speed-favoring, especially at sprint distances, with forwardly placed runners and pace-pressers holding an edge when the track is listed fast. Inside-to-middle posts are often preferred in sprints, while route races can be a bit more balanced, giving tactical stalkers a solid chance if the early fractions are contested. On the turf (T) course, the configuration and tighter turns tend to reward stalkers sitting just off the pace and saving ground, with mid-gate draws often ideal.
Handicapper’s Edge
Given Fort Erie's usual tendencies, upgrade dirt runners with proven early speed or tactical pace who draw inside to middle posts, particularly in sprints. On turf, lean toward horses with a versatile stalking style and the ability to finish, while downgrading deep closers who may leave themselves too much to do turning for home.
