Pick Pony Track Condition Report — Horseshoe Indianapolis, June 16, 2026

Track Surface & Bias

Recent meet data at Horseshoe Indianapolis shows a fair but slightly speed-favoring dirt (D) track, with a notable percentage of races being won on or near the lead at common route and sprint distances. Inside-to-middle posts have performed well on dirt, especially at one mile and 1 1/16 miles, where forwardly placed runners (early speed and pace-pressers) have an advantage. On the turf (T), sprints have leaned toward early speed from middle posts, while turf routes tend to favor position-savvy runners saving ground inside, with tactical (stalking) types generally performing best.

Handicapper’s Edge

Under these patterns, upgrade front-runners and pace-pressers on dirt, especially those drawn inside or in mid-gates at common sprint and route distances. On turf, give extra consideration to tactical stalkers who can secure inside or rail-adjacent trips in routes, and to sharp gate speed in turf sprints breaking from the middle of the gate.
